I arrive in Atlanta where I'm meeting with Dr Andrews who will be performing my surgeries. I'm currently in a private room when an older man walks in. "Hi Serena, I'm Dr Andrews." he says introducing himself.

"Hi, nice to me you." I respond.

"So, I've had a look at your X-ray, CT and MRI and we have come up with a strategy." He begins. "Tomorrow your first scheduled surgery will consist of repairing the break in your neck, which is called a neck fusion." He explains. "The surgery following that, will be repairing and putting a screw your shoulder where you dislocated it." He continues. "After that you'll be sent to a rehabilitation centre in town where you will start your therapy."

"So my injuries have gotten worse?"

"Unfortunately yes, but we'll do everything we can to make it as easy and pain free as possible but it's going to be a tough road ahead for you." He warns me.

"I should make a full recovery though?"

"Yes."

The next morning I wake up in pain. The nurse gives me some pain relief and preps me for my neck surgery. I say goodbye to my mum as they wheel me into the operating room.

Dr Andrews is already in the OR and viewing my latest scans. They wheel me over to the centre of the OR where an anaesthesiologist is setting up the monitors. He approaches myside. "Hi Serena, I'm Dr Jacobs, your anaesthesiologist for today and I will be observing you throughout your surgery." he introduces himself.

"Nice to meet you."

"Now I want you to make a fist and start to open and close it for me please." He directs. I do as he says and start to open and close my hand. He grabs a needle. "This will sting a little, but it will only last a second." He advises as he finds a vein in my hand. "I now want you to start to count backwards from ten."

He pricks the needle into my vein and I feel the sting only for a second and I start counting. "10, 9, 8.."

A few hours later I wake up groggy and drowsy. I try to turn my head but the neck brace and the pain I feel is worrying me. A nurse sees my movements and approaches me. "Welcome back Miss Smith." She greets quietly. "Your surgery went great." she says. "But you're going to be quite uncomfortable for a couple days so just rest, and Dr Andrews will be with you shortly."

A few minutes later Dr Andrews walks in. "How are you feeling?" he asks walking over to my bedside and reads over my chart.

"Drowsy and sore." I answer.

"That's completely normal." He reassures. "The surgery went great. You just need to rest and I'll come back and check on you soon." He adds. "Your nurses will be observing you throughout the night, so if you need anything, press your call button and they'll help you."

"Thank you." I thank yawning.

"No problem try to get some sleep."

A couple hours later I wake up and I'm back in my room. I see some flowers, cards, and balloons displayed by my window. I see my mother sitting in a recliner in the corner of the room writing down notes. She hears me and gets up from her spot and walks over to me smiling. "How are you feeling?" She asks grabbing my hand.

"Thirsty." I croak.

"I'll get you some water." she says and retrieves me a cup from the side table. "Don't overdo it just small sips."

I suck through the straw slowly. "Thanks."

"How's your pain?"

"Can't really feel anything."

"You've been dosed up on pain relief for the past few days and your anaesthesia is wearing off, but so far you're doing well." she informs me. "You'll be very tired for the next couple days, so don't push it and just rest."

The next few days are the same, I'm groggy and in pain, but I'm sitting up a fraction more. I'm currently on my IPad when I hear footsteps approach my room. I look to the doorway and see it's Colby. "Hi." I say shyly.

"How are you feeling?" he asks walking into the room.

"Sore."

"That's a given you've been through a traumatic injury." he responds. "Did they say how long you'll be here for?"

"A while, it all depends on how well my next surgery goes."

"I'm so sorry this happened to you." He apologises.

I frown. "You didn't do anything."

"Then why do I feel so guilty?"

"Because we haven't actually talked."

"I'm so sorry for the things I said." He apologises.

"We both said things." I retort.

"I shouldn't have said it though, what I said was hurtful and nowhere near the truth, I was hurt and angry, I just wanted an outlet to use."

"What you said was hurtful, but I get it; coming from my end it looked bad I admit. But I wanted to tell you, so that things would be easier for you, but now I know I shouldn't have shown you those pictures."

"I truly am sorry." He repeats.

I smile. "You're forgiven."

"You scared everyone."

"I'm scared."

"But now is the time to get better, not just physically."

"I will."

"You promise?"

"Promise."

"I better go, I have a flight to catch." He announces.

"Thank you for visiting me."

"You're welcome." he says walking closer to me and kisses my cheek. "Get better."

"Hey Colby." I call out as he's walks away.

"Yeah?"

"Thanks for being here for me."

He smiles. "Anytime."

The next week goes by and I start to have a little less tension in my neck. As I lay in my bed I hear familiar voices walk in my room. "Rena." They squeal.

"Hi." I greet smiling.

"How are you feeling?" JoJo asks me.

"Sore but I'm starting to have less tension and pain, but I have a long way to go." I respond.

"We're sorry this happened to you." Nicole apologises.

"I am too, but things happen and you just have to pick yourself up, so that's what I am going to do." I tell them. "How's work?"

"It's definitely not the same without you."

"Well of course it isn't, I'm the fun one."

"I guess you heard that they vacated your title and informed everyone about what happened?" Nattie asks.

"I did. Stephanie and Paul told me they were making a statement about what happened."

"Are you sad about not being champion anymore?" JoJo asks.

"I cried when I had to give it back, but WWE needs a champion that is going to be there, so I hope one of you get it." I respond.

"We better get going." Nattie says.

"Thanks for visiting."

"We are here for you at any time." Nikki whispers.

It has now been over three weeks since my first operation and I have started to take small walks. I'm seeing doctor Andrews today to see how my progress has come. I enter the exam room and Dr Andrews has my scans up. "So this is your first scan from before your surgery." he points out. "You can see all the contusions around here where the damage was in your neck." he explains changing over the slides. "This MRI from this morning."

I look it over and notice a huge difference. It's cleaner, you can see my screw in my neck, and there's still some contusions visible. "That's just after three and bit weeks?" I ask.

"Yes. Now your next surgery will be scheduled in a weeks time."

The next week flies by and it's time for my surgery. The hospital staff prep me in my room and roll me out towards the OR. I'm rolled into the OR and once again Dr Andrews is with his team. "Hi." He greets.

"Hi."

"Are you ready?"

"Yes."

"Good. We will see you when you wake up." He says and I feel Dr Jacobs give me a needle and I pass out.
