Ace had been gone a year, along with Sabo, and neither of them had ever missed calling me whenever they needed to. Even if they didn't need anything and Law followed their example by always calling weekly at least, they always made sure to contact us not to worry the rest of their siblings or me, but recently Ace hasn't called. Even when he went to Wano, where he would get arrested for even owning a transponder snail, he always called to tell me he was alright.
He hasn't called in two months since he told us he would be battling Jimbe from the warlords. Since then, Katakuri and Perospero have been around me, ensuring that I didn't strain myself over contact with their brother. Of course, they were worried, but they knew he could handle himself. I knew that too, but he is my son, who is by far the second most responsible one of the youngest ones. And when the youngest, most unresponsible, calls more than him, a mother worries.
Two months of me worrying for him, trying to contact him with no answer, not even from his crew, had me pulling my hair, but when Brûlée couldn't go threw Ace's hand mirror that she gave him, that's when I truly started to panic. What had happened to him. was he alright? Was he hurt? Did he need our help? Did something happen to his crew? was he sick or worse? Those thoughts threw my head constantly as I paced in front of the phone and cried in worry.
Katakuri, Oven, and Daifuku would try to distract me, but nothing would work as Amande checked the newspaper every day, trying to see if ace was in the paper, but nothing. Sabo and Law also kept an eye out as they were at sea trying to find him, but they were busy battling their battles to be focused on just looking for ace. Luffy, of course, worried and tried his best to comfort me over the phone, but I told him not to worry and that his brother would turn up safe and sound even though I had no idea if he would. Luffy called daily for updates, and I told him he didn't have to, but he always fought me.
One day, I was taking a nap on the couch next to the snail with the rest of my family around me. When we got a call on the transponder snail, I instantly woke up along with everyone else and answered the phone.
-Hello- I picked up as everyone rubbed their eyes -who is this-
-Mama- I heard aces voice threw the snail. Everyone instantly woke up at his voice and came around me, staying silent.
-Ace, where have you been? Are you alright- I asked him; worried as I did, I started to see the transponder snail's eyes start to water showing that ace was tearing up -baby, where are you- I asked
-Mama... I'm sorry- he said as he started to sniffle threw the phone.-I'm sorry, mama-
-What happened, Ace? Are you OK- Katakuri asked before his eyes widened -don't say it. I heard you- he said before Ace could say anything else. We all looked over at him, wanting to know what Ace would say before Katakuri stopped him.
-What happened, baby? At least tell me you are OK- I asked as I watched Katakuri write something down,
-I've been hurt, mama- Ace said -not bad, but I'm hurt, but that's not what I'm sorry about-
-You don't have to be sorry about anything, love, tell me what happened-
-I failed you, mama... I said I-
-You will never fail me. Just tell me what happened after your battle with Jimbe...- I asked as I started to read what Katakuri wrote, and my eyes widened before I turned to my son, that was on the snail.
-Whitebeard showed up and took my crew hostage on his ship and me, and he wouldn't let me call you, and his crew are threatening me- ace started, only to be cut off by yelling and things being thrown around
-Whitebeard, I know you are Listening... and I recommend there better not be a scratch on my son when I find him, or it's your head I will take when I find you- I snapped threw the phone.
-This is the first commander of the whitebeard pirates. We will not tolerate any threat to our captain from anyone, so I recommend you calm down Ace is safe here with us-
-According to my son, that is not the case here- I snapped at the man -from the looks of it, you are the one that is in charge there at the moment, for your captain is too much of a coward to talk to me then I will say this for you to pass to him-
-Don't you-
-Shut your mouth, boy.- I growled -when I find you, you best hope I am in a good mood, or else you will burn in hell, where I plan to send everyone who stands in my way of reaching my son, and if it's not me sending you there I'm sure that my children would happily do so without order so watch your backs whitebeards for I come for your heads next- I snapped as I hanged up the transponder snail.
Everyone stayed silent for a couple of minutes before I turned to Katakuri with rage as I ordered him to track the snail and what island they were closest to Katakuri nodded.
"What are you planning to do, mama," Cracker asked as he walked closer with worry in his eyes.
"I'm going to get your brother back whether they like it or not," I said in a passive voice.
"But mama, I can't seem to be able to reach Ace threw the mirror world. It's like something is blocking the mirror every time I try to go threw." Brûlée said as she followed me out of the room with everyone else other than Perospero and Katakuri.
"Well, that won't be a problem, dear... Why don't you go back inside while I make a call." I told her as I started to walk to my cabin.
"OK, mama... Will we be allowed to come with you when you get him" Brûlée asked worriedly?
"Of course, he is your brother, after all" I smiled at her before disappearing into my room, not paying any mind to the worried glances they sent each other,

P.O.V change Ace (past)
It was nighttime when I finally got a chance to be alone. That stupid first commander wouldn't leave me alone after I tried to kill Whitebeard earlier today, and I couldn't go into the transponder snail room to call mama again. I'm sure she must be worried about me since I haven't called in 2 months, but the whitebeard pirates wouldn't let me call anyone without joining their crew.
I rolled my eyes at the thought as I slowly crept around the night watch and into the communication room where no one was. I slowly walked up to one of the snails, only for the lights in the room to turn on. I looked around and found that almost all the commanders were smirking at me, especially Haruta, who still had his hand on the light switch.
" I called it to pay up, you fuckers." Haruta smiled and laughed as some commanders growled. I glared at them as I grabbed the Snail one, only to be cut off by Marco behind me. He grabbed me and pushed me away from the snails.
"What the hell is your problem" I snapped at him as he threw me to sit on one of the seats.
"More like, what the hell is your problem, Ace? We have been nice to you, and you still pull this crap," Marco said with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah, come on, buddy, we just want you a part of our family," Thatch said as he placed his arm around my shoulder. I growled at him before pulling away from him.
"Get off," I snarl at him.
"Who are you trying to call, Ace," Marco asked again as Haruta walked up to check if the snail was damaged.
"Yeah, you've been trying to get in here since you first got on. I want to know, too," Haruta said childishly as he held up the undamaged snail. "Come on, you can tell us we are your family," He said as he teased Ace with the snail.
"You aren't my fucking family, you bastard," Ace yelled as he got up angrily, only to be pushed back by an Angry Marco.
"Don't say that shit, Ace; it's rude. Now answer my question who are you trying to call" Marco yelled at him Angerly.
"It's none of your business," I snapped at him as I tried to get up to leave, but he wouldn't let me. I looked at him, trying to stare him down, but before I knew it, I looked away and mumbled my Answer. "What was that," he said with a raised eyebrow.
"I was trying to call my mom. OK, get off," I snapped, pushing him off me. Marco gave me a look before looking over at Haruta and letting out a sigh.
"OK fine, call your mom and make it fast," he snapped at me, "and don't say anything that might worry her." he rolled his eyes. I reached out to grab the snail from Haruta, but Marco stopped him from handing it over. "I never said I could type in the number. Give it," he snapped, making me roll my eyes and start to tell him mama's snail number. The snail rang for a moment before I heard her familiar voice.
-Hello- I hear mama's voice threw the snail. All the Whitebeard's eyes widen, not expecting me to be telling the truth -who is this-
-Mama- I called. It was silent for a moment before I heard shuffling in the background. Haruta, holding the snail, held it closer to him, trying to listen.
-Ace, where have you been? Are you alright-i heard her say. That made my eyes water. I started to feel like a failure right now. I worried about my mom and my siblings so much. She sounded so stressed out... -baby, where are you- she asked me
-Mama... I'm sorry- I said as I started to sniff. The commanders around me looked at me, worried. They never expected me to start crying, much less when I talked to my mom. -I'm sorry, mama-
-What happened, Ace? Are you OK- Big brother Katakuri said as I Heard him take the snail receiver from mama. I was just about to tell him that the whitebeards were listening to the conversation, but he cut me off -don't say it. I heard you- the whitebeards looked at me confused, but before they could question me about it, mama picked up
-What happened, baby? At least tell me you are OK- mama said as she took the receiver from Katakuri as tears started to run down my face at hearing her voice again.
-I've been hurt, mama- I told her as I rubbed my arm where I hit the wall earlier today-not wrong, but I'm hurt, but that's not what I'm sorry about-
-You don't have to be sorry about anything, love; tell me what happened- she told me
-I failed you, mama... I said I- I started, only for her to cut me off
-You will never fail me. Just tell me what happened after your battle with Jimbe...- she asked. From the transponder snail, I could see that her eyes moved before they widened and glared as she asked. That meant that Katakuri had passed on that we were being listened to.
-Whitebeard showed up and took my crew hostage on his ship, and he wouldn't let me call you. His crew was threatening me- I started only to have Marco push Haruta back, grab me, and throw me out of the room with the rest of the commanders yelling at me, asking me what I was thinking for telling her that. Just as I was about to be thrown out, I heard mama making everyone stop and listen.
-Whitebeard, I know you are Listening... and I recommend there better not be a scratch on my son when I find him, or it's your head I will take when I see you- she snapped threw the snail. My eyes widen. I have never heard her like that before.
-This is the first commander of the whitebeard pirates. We will not tolerate any threat to our captain from anyone, so I recommend you calm down. Ace is safe here with us- Marco started, only to be cut off by mom
-According to my son, that is not the case here from the looks of it; you are the one that is in charge there at the moment, for your captain is too much of a coward to talk to me then I will say this for you to pass to him-
-Don't you- Marco started angerly
-Shut your mouth, boy.- she growled at him. Now I was apprehensive; I have never heard mama be this angry -when I find you, you best hope I am in a good mood, or else you will burn in hell, where I plan to send everyone who stands in my way of reaching my son, and if it's not me sending you there I'm sure that my children would happily do so without order so watch your backs whitebeards for I come for your heads next- she snapped before hanging up the phone. Everyone froze for a second before they all looked between me and Marco, who had a shocked expression on his face as he looked over at me.
"What the fuck" Thatch whispered as he walked next to me. Marco walked in my direction, making me flinch back, only to have him storm past me to what I assumed was Whitebeard's room. I looked at everyone else, who looked confused as they all started clearing the room.
"come on, Ace, I think we had enough action for one-day, dear," Izo said as he pulled me away from the room and into the hall. I just nodded, and once in the hall, I walked out to where I planned to sleep the night. In my head, I kept wondering what mama was planning to do. I know she never showed us her true power and always held back when we trained, but... I had never seen her this angry, not even when I pushed Luffy into the sea after eating my devil fruit. She was mad as Sanji had to fish him out before it was too late, and I got grounded for a week for doing that, and I got the lecture of a lifetime from both her and all my older siblings... But I have never seen her lose her temper like that...
I lay down on my blanket as I looked up, wondering if mama would come and do what she threatened the whitebeards with. and if I honestly was worth such trouble.
