The Adventures of the Hope Squad
Season 1: Chapter 2: The Scape
All of the scientists of the lab (except of the red ranking for reasons) were organizing themselves of the main room, trying to fit in the place.
He saw Chelsea and Breehn in the corner and decided to stay close to them, since they also didn't seem very excited about it.
Meanwhile, in top of a platform, the Green Ranking Scientists were preparing the final details of their presentation. After some more seconds, and some whispers from some prodigies, the leader of the Green Light Lab decided to start the presentation.
"All of my fellow scientists, we have important urgent news to share" said Pine, on the same demanding and cynic tone as always. The presentation they had to share finally started.
The first slide had the Green Light Logo on it. A Green Lamp.
"As you know, we of the Lab have been working persistently for years on innovations only thinking on the best for humanity and the planet" the leader continued.
If Harry didn't need to keep quiet to stay alive, he would have groaned out of pain. The hypocrisy on saying that their intentions were good considering the way they treated their prodigies was so big that it became painful to hear.
"We have been trying so hard for years to create stronger animals, potent devices, and use our brilliant young minds to make the world a better place. We already did a lot of scientific progress with the Emutation Substance" said Pine, the presentation going to the next slide. This one was a simple illustration of the world.
"But, sadly… we won't be able of accomplishing our goal…" said the leader, changing the tone to something more sinister.
The next slide showed some events that happened on their Earth. It variated from alien invasions from some super villains causing problems.
"Humans have been attacked constantly, and those who haven't, have been more busy hurting each other" Pine continued. The slide changed once more, but this one had graphics instead of any images.
"Crime get's higher and higher. Wars keep happening no matter how much innocents die. At this pace, our world is going to be destroyed soon" said the leader, continuing the speech.
Then, the next slide showed images of some Justice League members. Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lanters, Superman and Batman.
"And the supposed 'Superheroes' supposed to protect us, are only leaving us more and more dependent on their powers and abilities. How can humanity improve and achieve greatness when we need a Man with an S and a man on a Bat costume to keep us safe?" said Pine on a tone full of spite.
Harry felt a chill down the spine. Even though it was not new that the Lab was never in favor of masked heroes saving the day, the Indigo Scientist felt a chill down his spine. He was not liking the path this speech was taking.
"We were left with no other choice besides putting the World safety in our hand. A Global Green Government. We are the only ones capable of putting our planet back on the rails!" said Pine, on a determined tone.
The idea to all of the scientist there, though, seemed a crazy one. Even considering the Lab's patterns, it was a crazy. Those that didn't consider it wrong, thought it was impossible to take over the whole world.
"You are all probably doubting on the efficacy of this plan. After all, the world is big, isn't it? So how to control all of it? Well, we found a solution after so long" the leader said once again, the presentation going to the next slide.
Harry's heart almost stopped. If he was just with a bad feeling before, now, he was terrified.
"Years ago, as you all must have studied or heard at some point, Paris was affected by a magical brainless terrorist who wanted one main thing. Magical jewels with powers beyond comparison: The Miraculouses" Pine said, pointing to the jewels of the slide behind him.
Yeah, that speech was definitely not ending well.
"The Ladybug and the Black Cat have the ability of granting a wish when used together. They could have been used to make the world a perfect place. But, since Ladybug was a coward. She refused to pay the necessary price" said the leader, showing clear repulse towards the red heroine.
Harry now was gritting his teeth. Not out of fear, though. Now, it was anger. No one had the right of talking about his mother like this. Still, he needed to hold back.
"She even locked the black cat miraculous on a place out of anyone's reach. From our research, we found out she hid it on a rift in time and space. But, there is still a way of getting our hands on it. If we combine all the miraculouses, we will tear a hole in the fabric of reality and grabbing it!" said Pine, on an ambitious tone that made him look like a maniac.
"Tracking the energy of miraculouses that have holders is basically impossible, but those who have been dormant is possible. We already have the pig in our hands, hidden on Aberdale. But the others are scattered, so, we will need to track them down. That's why we are going to send all of you the localization of all the miraculouses" said the leader, pressing a button of his armor.
All the scientists present ended up receiving a notification at the shape of message on their own armors.
"First, we will start with the miraculouses that were scattered around the United States, then, those who were scattered around the world. In a few months, humanity will finally be saved!" said Pine, with a smirk that could mean anything but good intentions.
"WE WILL ALWAYS BE GREEN LIGHT!" said the leader, pronouncing the lab's motto.
"WE WILL ALWAYS BE GREEN LIGHT!" said the other scientists at the audience, repeating the motto. All of them kept repeating it, except for Breenh, Chelsea and Harry, who couldn't help but look in horror at what was about to happen.
The Indigo Scientist soon returned to his room. He had a lot to think, and not many time to take a decision.
It had become obvious lately to him that the lab was not the nicest place, but world domination using dangerous magical forces was too much for him to handle. Too much for anyone to believe.
"This is not good! Not good!" said Harry, extremely anxious about the situation. He kept pacing around the room out of worry. He knew the perils of using a miraculous without thinking. Why? Well… his mother was Ladybug.
"If the Lab gets their hands on the miraculous, how are they going to rewrite things?! Are they going to put the whole world under this dictatorship? What are they going to change?! What price are they going to pay! This is not good! Not good!" said the Indigo Scientist, trying his best to not drag attention.
'Someone needs to stop them! But no one has been thinking about the miraculouses for years! I can't ask for help, no one will believe me! But someone needs to do something. Maybe…' he continued, this time only on his thoughts. Before he could finish his thought, though, he grabbed a red locket he usually wore under his shirt, so that no one would see it.
After holding it for a while, he sighed. He knew exactly what he had to do. He quickly hid his precious belong under his shirt, grabbed some other personal things that were hidden around the room and ran to those who would be able of helping him.
After carefully running through the corridors, since there could be adult scientists from higher rankings that could see him, he arrived at Breehn's room.
He tried to burst through it, since he was desperate, but a yellow energy barrier stopped him, and repelled him.
The noise of it ended up being loud. Not loud enough so that unwanted scientists could hear, but definitely enough so that the prodigies inside of it could.
"Harry, are you okay?!" asked Breehn, dismantling the energy barrier and offering his hand to help the boy get up.
"I am. I need your help!" the Indigo Scientist said, accepting the help. He had noticeable despair on his voice.
"Of course. What do you need?" the Mustard Scientist said, glad to help his lab colleague.
"I want to join your scape plan!" Harry said, still with the same despair, but also some determination.
The Mustard Scientist was shocked for a bit with the sudden change of action. After it faded though, he also made a determined face and nodded, inviting him inside his room and turning the barrier back on.
Inside of the room, the four were sitting in the ground, since the new member needed to hear the plan so that he knew what to do.
"Okay, so, the plan is kind of simple: the scientists of green and some of the blue are going to be busy and distracted tonight. So, we will put the rest to sleep, take a portable lab and be able of runaway. There are some other details we made on our own, but that's the important part" the Violet Rebel said, trying to sum up the plan the best she could.
"I think it's a plan that can work. But how exactly are we going to put the scientists of the lower rankings to sleep?" asked the Indigo Rebel, thinking that the plan was good, but that some information was missing.
Breehn and Chelsea smirked at each other, indicating that they had thought about this part of the plan already.
The Mustard Rebel grabbed something from his pocket and showed it to Harry. It was a small container with two green pills.
"Green Calmers! How did you got those?" the Indigo Rebel asked, surprised at seeing those. Green Calmers were pills that, when ingested, was used to make animals fall asleep. It was pretty strong.
"Well, since I am on the yellow ranking, I have access to some rooms that are hard to access. Lately, I have been using that to steal some things" Breehn said, slightly embarrassed because stealing usually was not something people should be proud about.
"Then, using Breehn's chip we would access the kitchen and put on it on that goop they call food" said Chelsea finishing the plan.
Harry nodded at the plan, believing it was actually a good one, and that it made sense.
Before they could talk about anything else, the Mustard Rebel's armor started to alarm, indicating that dinner time was near, and they needed to act quickly.
"Time to go! Harry, can you help me?" Breehn asked, believing an extra hand would be extra useful with this part of the plan.
"Of course!" the Indigo Rebel said, not hesitating even for a second.
"I will grab the portable labs. Percy, wait for us at the fence!" Chelsea said, reminding the young one of the groups about what he had to do in the plan. He nodded.
The four exchanged one last nod to make sure they all knew what to do and left the cell as quickly as possible.
Today was the day they would finally leave that cursed place.
Arriving at the kitchen wasn't a hard task for the two boys, since that area was empty at the moments right before meals because the substance was basically done, and they didn't need to do anything else.
Before the Mustard Rebel could use his chip to open the door though, Harry rushed and did it first, since he knew that it wouldn't work if his colleague did it.
"Uh… why did you do that?" Breehn asked, not understanding it. They had time to do it since it took quite some time for the kitchen's door to open.
"Because of something that only the higher rankings scientists know. The kitchen is only open to yellow ranking scientist at day. At night, it's reserved only to blue and green ranking scientists" the Indigo Rebel answered on a genuinely nice tone.
After the door opened, they quickly entered the place. There, they noticed the nutritive substance was on a tube, about to be distributed by the machines mentioned before.
The Mustard Rebel grabbed the Green Calmers and put them on the substance. Soon after, the tubes sent the substance to the machines with a large impulse.
To be sure that the idea actually worked, Harry, using his armor, projected a small screen where the two boys could see the cafeteria through the security cameras.
The two started to watch it, both breaking out in cold sweat. If the plan didn't work, a lot of things could happen. Lots of BAD things could happen.
They felt like they could pass out of stress at any moment while watching each scientist eat their meal slowly.
After they all had a few bites of the goo, it didn't take long for them to get sleepy and, eventually, pass out on the table.
"Sigh… It worked" Harry said, relieved the plan did end up working.
"Time to find Chelsea! She probably already grabbed the labs. We are running out of time!" Breehn said, reminding the colleague about their situation.
The Indigo Rebel nodded, and both ran out of the room and returning to the hallway, rushing to meet the other two rebels and finally leave that place.
Unfortunately, none of the two noticed a figure watching everything from the shadows…
After some running, they saw Chealsea, just as worried as them leaning on the wall. She quickly approached them.
"Did it work?" she asked with worry. The two boys nodded as an answer, relieving her. The Violet Rebel, not wanting to waste time, handed the two rectangular objects that had the size of a cellphone.
"This are the portable labs" Chelsea said. The two boys quickly grabbed them.
"I found it in the control room. I also left our plan B on the non-tested animals' area" the Violet Rebel said, leaving Harry with the curiosity to ask about it. But he could see that she had something else to say, and they didn't have much time left to talk about it.
"And I took the opportunity to grab this" Chealsea said, grabbing a weird tool from her pocket.
"A deactivating tool?!" the Indigo Rebel said, shocked with what he was seeing.
"This way, we can deactivate the tracking option. It will be harder to find us this way" the Violet Rebel said, pointing the tool to the chip on the armor of her boyfriend.
The tool generated a blue energy that made the chip glow, deactivating it. She did the same with Harry's chip and her own.
"Alright, time to go!" the Indigo Rebel said, starting to run, being accompanied by the other two rebels.
Now, out of the Lab, there was only one last obstacle: The outside fence.
"Percy!" screamed the Mustard Rebel, seeing the youngest rebel close to the fence.
"We are here!" screamed the Violet Rebel, trying to get his attention.
It all seemed to be working out well. TOO MUCH well in Harry's opinion. Mainly when he noticed the look of regret in Percy's face.
Before they could even reach the fence, Someone came from above accompanied by to robots.
"Well, well, well…" said the figure on a clearly threatening tone… it was Lime.
"Who would have thought that listening to Percy would lead to an actual rebellion" the Green Boy said, with a tone filled of irony.
"Percy?!" the three older rebels screamed out of shock and betrayal.
"Sorry guys! Lime promised me a place at the Blue Ranking" Percy said from behind. It was clear he felt bad about it, but still wasn't enough to believe what he did was wrong.
The three rebels started to slowly back away as Lime approached with the machines.
"I am kind of intrigued to know what the Lab will do to you. Death would be too little for a betrayal of a scientist of Yellow and Blue Ranking. Definitely going to red" the green scientist said, approaching them with a cynical look.
"Which animals would fit you three better? Perhaps crocodiles, they are as deceitful as you are. Or maybe snakes, spiders. But it doesn't matter in the end… you all will probably be too damaged to even recognize yourselves in the mirror" Lime said, with the same evil and bitter tone.
"Jeff… you know it doesn't have to be like this" Harry said, trying to reach out for the rest of humanity present in his old friend.
"Oh, Harry. It does need to be like this. And it will!" the green scientist said, clearly tired of talking, and ready to finally punish those three.
The Violet and Mustard Rebels exchanged glances, knowing that it was time for their plan B.
Chealsea pressed a button on a controller hidden in her pocket.
The green scientist was about to punish the three, when, suddenly… they heard a big noise coming from an area of the lab, producing some smoke.
"What is this supposed to be?!" asked Lime, out of shock.
"It was our plan B!" screamed the Violet Rebel, satisfied at their opponent's reaction.
"Wait… our Plan B was an explosion?!" asked Harry, surprised about it. Before anything else could be said, though, a stampede of animals running out of the Lab, running to all different directions possible.
The majority of them were harmless animals, since the more dangerous ones had already become experiments and were somewhere else.
A part of them had destroyed the fence, others were about to tun over the kids out of the Lab.
"Run!" the Violet Rebel screamed. It was easier said than done, though, since the smoke had also spread, and it was hard to see where they were going.
The Indigo Rebel tried to found a relativity safe place, where he knew he wouldn't be ran over, and pressed a button on his boots.
"I know it's still experimental… but, I have no better option" he said, pressing a button on his boots.
His boots quickly started to glow orange. Harry prepared himself and started to run away, a lot faster than usual.
He had not much time to think, reflect or talk. He just had to be sure of being as far away from that lab as possible.
Meanwhile, on a place far away, a woman was in her room, laying in her bed, looking at a photo of her beloved son, feeling something, she hadn't felt in a long time.
Her train of thought was interrupted by her noticing the door of the room being opened.
"Me and Damian finished exchanging clothes. He is already in bed" her husband said, already in sleepwear.
He noticed she was with the portrait on her hand and crawled right next her to also see it.
"I don't know why, but… I think we are close of finding him. Maybe it's mother's intuition" Marinette said, explaining what she was feeling.
"The Green Light Lab has been exposing themselves quite more and more lately… we are close of finding him now" Bruce said, with logical arguments to prove what she was saying
The red heroine sighed and put the portrait back on the nightstand.
No one could even imagine how hurt she was with the loss of her child.
After running for a long time, Harry found a discreet place between some trees and, even if finding the closest town would probably be the wisest decision, decided that the place would be his temporary hiding place.
He quickly grabbed the small device, put it in the ground and pressed a button.
The equipment that had the size of cellphone quickly started to change it's safe until it become a shelter-like structure.
The Indigo Rebel entered it and pressed some buttons on a control panel.
"Camouflage mode: Activated" the shelter said, becoming invisible and allowing the scientists to feel relieved.
Even if the future was uncertain and the present could end in any minute, running away from the lab, run for so long and all of that stress was too much for him to deal.
The only thing he had enough energy to do was lay on the cold floor and rest for the first time in so long.
But his story is far from ending, though…
After so much running, Harry arrived at the entrance of a small town which he never heard before…
"Hope…Valley?" the indigo rebel said, while panting from exhaustion.
He had no more time to think, though. He quickly grabbed the small device, put it in the ground and pressed a button.
The equipment that had the size of cellphone quickly started to change it's safe until it become a shelter-like structure.

Author's Note: Gosh! This chapter was a lot bigger than I though. Don't know what else to say… except that this story has a lot of twists... twists you can't even imagine.
Hint for the next chapter: Exaltation.
