Enjoy the new next chapter!
Once I got back from Australia I hit the gym hard. I am back to my pre-injury weight and strength but I want to be better, I want to be stronger, so I'm stepping it up even more.
Today I'm having a training session with the WWE doctors and higher ups to show them how my progress is going and hopefully be given a timeline for my return.
I arrive at WWEs brand new training facility in Florida. I walk inside and see Matt Bloom, Dr English, Stephanie and Paul by one of the rings. I approach them and Steph is the first one to notice me. "Hi." I greet.
"Welcome back." Paul greets.
"It's good to be back."
"You look good Serena, how are you?" Stephanie asks.
"I'm well, it was slow at first, but every day in the gym for the the past month has helped." I respond.
"Good." Paul responds. "Now before we get started, we have to do a few tests with Dr English."
"Let's get started then."
"Whilst you're here today, you need let us know if you feel any pain whist you are undergoing tests and drills." Stephanie advises.
"I promise if I feel any pain, discomfort or anything that doesn't feel right, I will speak up."
"Good."
I walk into a private room with Dr English and he does a full body assessment. I feel know pain just a little stiffness in the neck and shoulder. "So, overall a great outcome, you felt no pain, but it is feeling stiff in the neck and shoulder area." Dr English explains. "So I am going to recommend that you use heat packs to help with that."
"Does this mean I can start wrestling again?" I ask.
"Yes."
I walk out of the room with a huge grin on my face. "I can start to wrestle." I announce with a pep to my step.
"Good to hear." Stephanie laughs.
"Shall we get started then?" Matt asks.
I nod. "Let's do it."
"Great, let's begin with running the ropes." Matt directs and I get straight to it.
After my training, Steph, Paul and myself enter a meeting room. "How are you feeling?" Paul asks.
"Exhausted. It shows i'm not in ring shape yet."
"That's completely normal after coming back from an injury." Stephanie reassures.
"Good."
"So from what we saw today you've improved a lot, but it'll probably be another month or more before you can do any wrestling or travelling." Paul addresses. "So we have come up with an idea for when you return."
"What?"
"When you return, you will be starting a feud with AJ that will turn into a match at Wrestlemania for the Divas Championship." Stephanie announces.
"OMG really?"
"Yes."
"What's the storyline?"
"The storyline is a little different but we think you'll be able to pull it off." Paul responds. "You'll be a mysterious diva that wears a hoody, mask and wig; that will keep attacking AJ over and over again until we reveal you at Wrestlemania."
"That sounds exciting."
"As of now there are only limited people involved in creating and being apart of this storyline that will know its you." Stephanie continues.
"What are you going to tell the other ladies?"
"We are still thinking of ways, but we want to go along the lines of, a new character, or trialling a secret storyline to get an honest reaction by everyone." Paul replies.
"That's all we have right now, but maybe meet up with April and discuss some things that you could do for this, we informed her yesterday." Stephanie suggests.
"Does she know she's losing the title?" I ask.
"Yes." Paul responds. "She wants to take some time off for her wedding. This is the perfect opportunity for you to come back and take over." Paul replies. "You'll boost ratings for the divas and soon some NXT woman will be moving up to the main roster too."
"Sounds like lots of changes are happening"
"All good changes." Stephanie assures.
"That's all we needed to discuss with you today, we will be in-contact with you in about a months time to confirm everything." Paul concludes.
A month later I'm given my new contract with WWE. Today I'm secretly meeting up with April in our hotel room. I walk into the room and I see her organising her suitcase. "April." I say excitedly.
"OMG Serena, its so good to see you." She greets hugging me.
"You to girl, how are you feeling with Celeste gone?"
"I'm sad, but she'll always be a part of my life."
"Good."
"You look great by the way." she compliments.
"I feel good. And I'm so excited to start this storyline."
"Me too." She agrees. "How do you feel about not telling people?"
"I'll get used to it."
The next day I arrive at the arena early for Raw. I'm snuck into a private room and retrieve the nights schedule from Jane and Mark. "Welcome back." they greet.
I smile. "It's good to be back."
"How do you feel?" Jane asks.
"I feel great and I'm excited to start this storyline."
Mark pulls out some gear from a dress bag. "Now this is your gear that you'll be using for a while." He shows. "Under the hoody you will wear the wig, with the elastic face mask."
"How long do I have to be hidden for?"
"Most likely up until Wrestlemania, we know it's a while but it'll get the fans invested." Jane replies.
"So keep it a secret for now and always come back here after each segment, then April will come and retrieve you when the show is over." Mark adds.
I nod. "Sounds easy enough."
"For Raw today you will attack AJ from behind, you will then jump the barricade and run away. This will be the same routine for the first couple weeks." Jane concludes.
A short while later Amy arrives. "Look who's back." She greets.
"Good to see you to, how have you been?" I ask.
"Im good. Now are you ready to transform into the mystery diva?"
"So ready."
"Then lets get this wig on." She suggests.
About half an hour later the wig is glued down onto a bald cap. The wig is dark blonde with lighter highlights running causally through the hair. Amy quickly does my make up, a bold smokey eye to make my eyes pop through the mask.
I change into a black singlet and sweatpants with sneakers. I then pull on the black hoody. To finish off the look, I put on the mask and pull the hoody up so it's covers my face.
"So?" I question.
"I don't even recognise you, which is what we want and it was a lot easier for me to do too. Can you be like this all the time?" Amy jokes.
"Your funny, just wait, at Wrestlemania I'll be back to my old self."
I make my way through through the crowd as it gets to the end of Trinity and April's match and I wait for my signal to run out.
AJ and Naomi run the ropes and both duck one another and run to the opposite rope. AJ picks up speed and locks in The Black Widow. "AJ has The Black Widow locked in." Cole announces.
Naomi starts to tap and the referee rings the bell and raises AJ's arm. I bolt through the crowd as all the attention is on the ring, and jump over the barricade. "Wait what's going on?" Jerry asks loudly as everyone sees me jump the barricade.
I sprint into the ring and before AJ can turn around I scoop her up and deliver a back breaker. Naomi and Cameron look on in confusion. I look up at them and then back to AJ and pull her up and deliver a backwards DDT and escape out of the ring.
I run back through the crowd as the crowd are left in shock. "What did we just witness?" Cole ask confused.
"A person just jumped the barricade and attacked the Divas Champion, how did they get in here?" JBL shouts.
The screen replay's what just happened as I continue to run back through the crowd. I quickly turn to look back into the ring and I raise my fist in the air and run out from view. "If you're just joining us, AJ Lee was just attacked from behind by someone in a black hoody." Jerry alerts. "We have no idea what just happened but we will keep you informed."
After my segment I check twitter to see what's going on and the mystery diva is trending. It's blowing up actually. Majority are trying to find out who it is, some love it and like 5% aren't interested.
I hear a knock at the door and April enters. "Have you seen that Twitter is blowing up?" She asks excited.
"I have. I wanted to be out there longer."
"It's got everyone buzzing, all the girls were like who was that?"
"Do you think they are sceptical?"
"No they are more intrigued."
"I'm actually going to try to see if there's a way to travel with you everyone and whenever I have a segment I sneak away."
"Speak to Steph, she can work something out."
We walk to Stephanie's office and knock on her door. She answers it and invites us in. "Hi." I greet.
"Hi, great job tonight, the segment went off without a hitch and social media is still buzzing about it." She expresses. "What can I help you with?"
"I know the other divas aren't supposed to know I'm here, but I want to be able to hang out with them." I express. "So I was wondering, maybe I could start traveling with them and tell them I'm not ready to be in the ring yet, that way I don't have to hide."
"I see where you're coming from. Next week we will get you in the locker room and traveling with the ladies, but when you have a scheduled segment, just don't go with them that day or sneak off early." she suggests. "It will most likely be every Monday from this point, maybe the occasional Smackdown too." She adds. "So hide out for the rest of the week and starting next week you can travel with the girls."
"Thanks Steph."
"No worries. We are glad to have you back."
