I do not own Danny Phantom or Extreme Ghostbusters. Their individual companies own those. This is a sequel to Unclogged Graves.
Eduardo, Garrett, and Roland stared down the Fright Knight from across the street. Their trigger fingers itched in anticipation for the powerful ghost knight to move. Anything, from a nose scratch to a cough would signal the fight. While the wheel-chaired boy was hungry with excitement, the same could not be said for his comrades in arms, who looked more worried.
"What do you think he wants?" Roland whispered.
"Whatever it is, he came to the wrong place to party," Garrett added.
"You mean like last time when he ripped apart the streams?" Roland's tone held sarcasm and worry. And rightly so, as he'd been tinkering with the concentrated isotope particle acceleration generator in the packs. Egon had helped him when he was done lecturing the Fenton siblings, but there was only so much he could do in a day.
"Eduardo, any thoughts?" The mechanic added.
Eduardo was silent, keeping his proton-blaster aim steady, never letting the ghost out of his sight. He shook his head, not liking the situation.
The trio stood in silence, careful with any move they made. The Fright Knight had the advantage here despite the firehouse being the boys' home territory.
Anybody who walked by either noticed the ghost and left screaming or had walked by, engrossed in whatever they had on their phone. A scant few citizens bumped into the knight. They looked up to scream but stopped as they saw the imposing figure of the Fright Knight. Anyone that did yell found their throats being greeted by Soul Shredder, stopping inches their skin. The blade may not have sliced them, but its presence scared them off.
"Looks like cars aren't the only things people need to watch out for when they cross the streets," Eduardo snarked.
"Then we better remind this trick or treater why he needs to look both ways before crossing the streets," Roland commented.
"And who collects the fine," Garrett added with a grin.
The Fright Knight dismounted his steed, pointing at the trio. He brought his hand back, running a thumb across his throat.
"Looks like he has his own safety rules in mind," Eduardo commented.
The boys cocked their weapons as the knight crossed the street. Whatever crossing-the-street-joke this was, the punchline would be a fight as the boys fired away, lighting the streets with nuclear energy.
While the male Ghostbusters fought, Kylie and Jazz stared at Danny. The goth girl couldn't believe how fast the ghost boy had arrived, flying past her. She looked behind, finding no one but the crowd.
"I don't believe it!" Kylie said, but her expression changed as she realized something. "Hey! Where's Danny?—"
"Probably left to call the others," Jazz added, cutting the girl off.
Kylie gave a doubtful face but decided not to prod as she looked back to the fight. Danny Phantom was unlike any ghost she had seen so far. The girl wished she had a camera to film the moment or at least decided to buy a smartphone.
"Ok, I am not a snack!" Danny quipped as he fended off the voracious assault.
Danny held back the ghost's many jaws, using his feet to keep him off the hand mouths as his hands pushed the main set of teeth back. Despite being in a hazmat suit, the ghost boy would swear he could feel plague and germs building up on his limbs.
"Not the grossest ghost I've seen, but I don't think the dentist can help you," Danny quipped, firing an ectobeam through his hands. "So how about I save you some money and just rip your teeth out?"
The attack did the trick, pushing the ghost back. Its slimy gums bled ectoplasm as it hacked loudly. Its belly rumbled and shook rapidly with each choke.
"Ok, that's gross," Jazz said with a green face. She turned to Kylie, who had a different expression.
Kylie was more astounded, watching with intense eyes.
"Amazing. He can concentrate his ectoplasmic energy, converting his particles into a beam." The goth girl watched in excitement, as did the others.
People were pulling out their phones, recording the event as others started calling the Ghostbusters. However, they were met with the other end ringing busy until they heard Janine call, writing down a note.
The hungry ghost vomited chunks of globby ectoplasm, which resembled regular vomit with chunks of food mixed with garbage covered in green, steaming drool. It hit Danny, being too fast to dodge or phase through. The ghost boy was packed into the soupy lump.
Jazz gagged at the triple-mouthed ghost as it rushed forward with a jump, gnawing at Danny and his makeshift gravy. Lumpy tongues stretched out, making the ghost attempt to strangle and devour the ghost boy, turning knots in her stomach as she saw drool. She turned to Kylie, seeing no reaction from the girl.
"You're not grossed out?" Jazz asked.
"Eh...that's your average specter here. I guess most people had simple desires before they left." Kylie had a neutral face but kept her worry inside, now mentally cursing herself for being unable to help. If only the proton blasters were more portable.
"That still doesn't explain the difference, you know," Jazz said. She knew better, having hope.
Different opinions aside, it did not matter as the girls watched Phantom push back the ghost. A struggle he was barely handling.
Danny was aggravated with this disgusting spirit. Its tongues began extending, climbing up his arms and legs before reaching his torso. It licked his face, making the ghost howl in indescribable sounds, but the ghost boy figured he was tasty as the hand mouths bit down on his feet. Their pressure was intense. It was disgusting and horrifying to feel like a meal, not a fight. He grabbed the main mouth before it could bite down, now back at the start.
A chill soon flew up the ghost boy's spine as the fear started to kick in, forcing him to brute force through it. But his hands started to feel the piercing sensation of the main jaw's teeth. Its canine fangs drew blood as it started to bite down.
And that's when Danny felt cold energy as his eyes turned blue.
"Will you please get off!" Danny yelled as blue energy discharged from his body. He pushed back with all his might and flew to a safe distance but blinked when he saw what he had done.
The ghost stood there, frozen in a block of ice. The ghost boy panted, glancing at his hands with their icy steam. He was partially happy he stopped the ghost but wondered how he did that. Back during his weeks of training, the ice never came forth like that.
He immediately closed his eyes and tried to summon his ice powers again by balling up his hands together and trying to refocus on what he felt when it happened. However, nothing changed. This left the young halfa feeling both frustrated and puzzled.
But that would be for another time as people started taking photos, cheering for the ghost boy. He was a regular superhero to them, a change of pace they welcomed.
Kylie stared at the ghost boy, who looked back with his eyes still blue. They held great strength and courage, making the girl stare as they turned back to a glowing green.
"That was—"
"Something new," Jazz cut in.
"What?" Kylie was now staring with obvious suspicion.
Jazz turned to the goth, shrugging with a nervous smile.
Kylie would have questioned her, but her phone rang. Picking it up, it was Janine. During her and Egon's walk, they heard the sounds of a fight from the firehouse and ran back. After seeing the situation, Egon had suited up and joined the boys aginst the Fright Knight.
Kylie gasped, knowing they'd need everyone to fight the powerful ghost. Thinking fast, the girl ran up to the ghost boy, who had taken out the Fenton Thermos to capture the ghost. Popping the ap back on, he put the device away, ready to flee the scene.
"Hey, Phantom!" She cried out. "I need a lift! Can you take me to Ghostbusters Headquarters on North Moore street?"
Danny blinked at the girl, trying to sound extra heroic to hide his voice.
"I'm sorry...miss, but I have no idea—"
"The firehouse? You must've heard of it!"
Danny gave a blank stare. He wanted to help, especially with a group of ghost hunters who didn't fire first, but he wasn't sure that was a good idea.
"Listen, little miss—"
That was a big mistake.
"Listen up! There's something happening at the firehouse and I need to find out!" Kylie's sharp tone startled the ghost boy. "You're taking me back to the firehouse, ghost or not, I'm still a Ghostbuster and my friends need help, got it?!"
Danny nodded silently, stunned by the girl's authoritative command.
Kylie pointed to the sky. Now that the two understood, the goth was carried bridal style into the air as they ventured to the firehouse, holding on tightly at incredible speed. Before the duo left, Jazz was instructed to get her brother, unaware of the situation's context.
Egon was in his old Ghostbuster uniform with a proton pack strapped on. He and the others kept the Fright Knight at bay with a fourth beam. But it didn't give as much impact aginst the might of the Fright Knight.
"Fools! Do you think such a pathetic attempt will keep me away?" The Fright Knight yelled, holding his sword up to block the beams.
"No! We're trying to give you an electric massage! What do you think we're doing?!" Garrett snarked.
"Keep firing! There's got to be some weakness about this ghost!" Roland shouted as he kept looking for anything to give the team an edge.
"I thought that was the plan," Eduardo remarked.
The concentrations of the beams barely scratched the Fright Knight. As if mocking and taunting the Extreme Ghostbusters, the knight walked over, skimming his weapon along the street as he crossed. He stopped at the midpoint, holding a hand out and grabbing the beams.
"You fool are nothing to the Fright Knight! The everlasting spirit of Halloween!" the Fright Knight bellowed.
That had the Ghostbusters stop, holding down their weapons as they huddled together. They stared blankly at the medieval knight, shaking their heads after a moment. Even Janine and Slimer joined in, uttering no words.
"Ok, what is it?" The Fright Knight asked. Their silence was more annoying than their attacks.
"Um...ok, like you're the spirit of Halloween?" Eduardo snarked with a finger pointed at the knight, who nodded.
"And how exactly is it this is your night?" Garrett had a silly grin. "I mean, we call it Halloween, not Fright Night. I mean, where's your trick or treat bag?"
"You dare doubt my words!?" The ghostly knight was now enraged, insulted, and dishonored, all things you should never do to him.
"I think we demand proof," Roland commented, no longer intimidated for the moment.
"My presence is proof enough, fiends. Now tremble before me!"
"That's can't possibly provide any proof!" Egon said. He walked up to the Fright Knight, pointing at the ghost accusingly. "There's no proof that you're the spirit of Halloween!"
"You dare doubt My Words!?" The Fright Knight's voice boomed at the ghostbuster. It was powerful, but it didn't scare the professor.
"Considering the original spirit of Halloween was Samhain, I highly doubt it." Egon adjusted his glasses, staring with intensity. He turned to the side and pointed to the firehouse. The Fight Knight narrowed his eyes, jumped off his steed, and stormed over the man. "In fact, I met him with the original ghostbusters. He's already been contained and—"
"That foul spirit is here?!" The Fright Knight's voice boomed through the streets. He held Soul Shredder at Egon's throat, staring down the ghostbuster. "Tell me where he is or face your worst nightmare!"
Janine and Slimer gasped as they stood in fear. Only mere inches away, yet they felt powerless to help. The same could be said for Eduardo, Garrett, and Roland, though further away, who could only aim and wait.
But Egon didn't seem the least bit scared of the blade. His gaze ran over the blade and its spectral energy, holding up a PKE meter to the weapon. The data was fascinating, but it infuriated the knight more.
"You dare ignore me?" The Fright Knight grabbed Egon by his uniform, hoisting him up. "Tell me where Samhain is, this instant!"
Egon adjusted his glasses, they came loose from the sudden movement. He stared the ghost in the eye."Sounds to me there's is some credit to your existence. The question is, are we holding your worst fear?"
Already at the edge of his patience, the Fright Knight felt his anger goes past his limits as he readied his blade. He was prepared to swing it into the air, only to have Slimer assault his face. Though powerless against many ghosts, the green blob did his best to cover the spirit in his ectoplasm, choking the specter.
"What is this mockery!?" The knight released Egon, who ducked down as the Extreme Ghostbusters fired away. This time they caught him off guard, pushing him back into his steed.
The boys pumped their fists in victory, happy to have gotten an edge over their most powerful foe yet. Janine ran over to Egon, helping him up. In anger, she grabbed the proton blaster and fired at the Knight.
"That's what you get for messing with Egon!" Janine yelled.
But the knight got up, glaring with rage oozing from his eyes. And his emotions built up as a stray blast hit him in the face, knocking him down again.
"What's going on?" Kylie asked as she and Danny landed. The boys stared at her, noticing the ghost boy putting her down.
"We could ask you the same thing," Roland commented.
"What's he doing here? And why did you come here with him?!" Eduardo accusingly asked as he eyed the ghost superhero with suspicion.
"Oh please me that we didn't just miss something awesome happening somewhere else?!" Garrett asked, looking just a bit disappointed.
"I could ask you the same thing," Danny remarked, eyeing the Fright Knight, who got up and onto his horse. He brought his fists up, concentrating pure ectoplasmic energy as his eyes glowed brightly. "So let's get to the part where were kick his butt already."
"You think to stop me? Fool! I have a greater objective to
Danny fired an ectoplasmic beam at the Fright Knight, concentrating his ghostly energy and knocking him off his steed. The medieval ghost fumed in annoyance, flying into the air as he started conjuring a gemstone enveloped in purple flames.
"Hey, Fright Knight, how about a fair fight?" Danny quipped.
A purple blast and the ghost boy was pushed back several feet as the ghostly knight stormed over.
"Fool! What makes you think you have a chance against me without my steed?" The Fright Knight taunted, swinging his sword in flashy manners. He found neither Danny nor the Ghostbusters to be no threat.'
But that didn't stop the ghost boy, who fired back with green blasts.
"Amazing," Kylie commented, in awe of the fight.
"Tch, it's just a light show," Eduardo snarked.
"I'm talking about how they're able to fire ectoplasmic discharges." The goth was not amused as she glared at the boy.
"Can we talk about this later after the Fright Knight is captured?" Janine asked. She pointed to the neighborhood. Many residents had called the police, but any officers who came stayed a few blocks away. "I think we have bigger problems if this continues."
"But how many ghosts have handled their abilities like this?" Kylie asked.
"She's right. The ghosts I've seen rarely attacked in such a manner." Egon held the PKE meter up to the fight, moving the device in different positions as he walked closer. The readings were a chaotic symphony of scales as the machine's lights went off erratically.
"Egon!" Janine ran up to the scientist, pulling him back before he got too close. She was just in time as a stray blast hit where he would've been had he taken that last step.
"Interesting," Egon commented, staring at the PKE meter. It was as if the almost instantaneous death he avoided was nothing compared to his findings.
Janina rolled her eyes, too used to seeing near-death experiences with the man she pines for. If only there was a way to make the man look at her so intently, but that would be for another day. Provided they end this encounter first.
"Someone remind me why we're standing on the sidelines?" Garrett asked. He cocked the proto-blaster, using the gun to point at the fight.
"He's right." Kylie stepped out in full uniform. "Ghost or no, there's no way Phantom can handle this Fright Knight by himself."
"On three?" Roland asked.
The group aimed carefully, knowing one mistake could knock Danny Phantom out of commission with enough power to level a city block. The shot was paused as the two ghosts fought with incredible might.
The Fright Knight closed in the ranks, swiping at the ghost boy, who kept a distance with a series of blasts while phasing through the surrounding buildings. People screamed as the battle traveled through the block, costing many to teeter on the edge of a heart attack.
"You fools think you can do anything?!" The knight bellowed.
"I'd answer that with a quip, but I think they have a better word." Danny smiled, ducking as he projected a shield around him.
"Three!" All the ghostbusters fired away. The combined efforts of five beams were making headway as the Fright Knight felt a push. He held the Soul Shredder up, making the blade glow bright.
"Heads up! Knighty Night has a trick up his sleeve!" Garrett yelled.
The Fright Knight brought his blade down, intending to end everything, but his steed ran before him, weighing wildly as he thrashed like a rodeo bull, almost scared and angry.
"Nightmare, what is the meaning of this?" The Fright Knight asked.
The steed pointed with his head, revealing the presence of two goblin ghosts. The knight gasped, swinging his sword in their direction. A cutting wind was thrown, decimating the rooftop. The ghost mounted his winged horse and flew to the building top, finding no goblins. He looked to the group below.
"I must leave! But know this! Our fight is far from over!" Soul Shredder was sheathed, and the knight pulled on the reigns as Nightmare neighed demonically. The horse's bat wings flapped as they left, momentarily leaving behind a flaming trail of purple.
People screamed at the sight of the knight and steed, holding their phones as they recorded.
The Fright Knight stared at the citizens, eyeing them peculiarly.
Danny Phantom got up, wiping the sweat off his forehead. He gazed in the knight's direction but knew he was too powerful to chase.
The ghost boy would've taken off if not for the sound of Garrett coughing, grabbing his attention. He saw Egon walk up to him.
"Danny Phantom, is it? We need to talk."
Danny gulped at Egon's words. While he knew the Extreme Ghostbusters weren't shot first, dissect later, that didn't mean the current situation was not friendly.
And the story continues as the Fright Knight scratches the surface of ancient history. Anyway, now Danny has to talk with the Ghostbusters, who are more than willing to listen, if not be cautious. Not much to say, really.

IrishKatana: Ray doesn't have his bookstore yet.
RonaldM40196867: Orginal gadgets? Maybe. Kylie's a good character, original in her own way. All the ghostbusters will have bigger roles. I have seen some materials and know some trivia.
danifan3000: 1) I hadn't thought of that or forgot. Either way, I'm adding that. 2) I'll have to look this up.
Luiz4200: Eh...maybe. I'm not sure at the moment to do so.
