It was the next night after Yusei had dueled Alex. Everyone knew Alex was back, but he was still unconscious. They had decided to take turns watching him, and it was currently Luna's turn. She was reading a book when she heard Alex groaning in his sleep. She turned towards him and saw he was squirming in his sleep.

"Alex, wake up," she said as she tried to shake him awake. Suddenly, streams of darkness began rolling off Alex, causing Luna to step back in fear as Yubel appeared next to her. "Yubel, what's happening to Alex?" the child asked. "I have an idea, but we'll have to wait a minute to see if I'm right," Yubel responded.

"Will he be okay?" Luna asked. "If this is what I think it is, Alex will be just fine," Yubel promised. The darkness coming off Alex joined together, moving to a corner of the room before condensing into a large cloud. "What's happening?" Luna asked. "This has happened before. This is actually how Alex got his duel disk. His power can create objects, but I've never seen him make something this big," Yubel responded, curious as to what the object was.

"So what do you think it is?" Luna asked. "I think we'll find out in a moment," Yubel said as the sphere faded away, revealing a duel runner that was the right size for Alex to ride. It was a black cruiser-style bike with gold accents and a crimson red seat and headlights, as well as a modified version of the duel disk Alastor used during the Fortune Cup built in.

"A duel runner?" Luna questioned as Yubel floated next to her. "Well, I'm not altogether surprised. Alex loves watching Turbo Duels. Before he knew what Jack had done, he was a big fan of his," Yubel explained. Luna left the room to get Yusei, telling him about the duel runner.

"Alex made a duel runner using his power?" he asked, a tad skeptical. "I know it sounds crazy, but remember when he became Alastor? His armor appeared out of nowhere," Luna reminded. Good point. I'll take a look at his runner. Is he still asleep?" Yusei asked, to which Luna just nodded.

Yusei could tell Luna was worried about Alex, so he thought it would be best to try and make her feel better. "Hey, I'm sure Alex will be alright, we just need to wait for him to wake up," he consoled before beginning to look at the runner Alex had made in his sleep.

"This is some impressive stuff. Alex must know a lot about duel runners," he said as he continued to inspect it. "So it really works?" Luna asked. "Oh yeah. This thing might even be as good as mine and Jack's," Yusei suspected. They were pulled from their conversation when Alex began groaning.

Yusei and Luna walked up to Alex's bed as he opened his eyes, blinking a few times before moving his head from side to side to figure out where he was, stopping when his eyes landed on Yusei and Luna. "Hey," he said casually, glad he was back with his friends.

"How do you feel Alex?" Yusei asked. "Thirsty and hungry. How long was I out for?" Alex asked as he sat up. "You were out for a full day," Luna informed. "Luna, why don't you go and get something for Alex to eat and drink?" Yusei requested. Luna agreed and left the room. Once she was gone, Yusei sat in a chair next to the bed and faced Alex.

"Alex, I know you just woke up, but I need you to think. Do you remember anything else from when you were kidnapped?" he asked. Alex rubbed the back of his head as he tried to remember what happened. "I remember there were two men with Roman, but they were both wearing cloaks and had their hoods up," he informed.

"Did Roman say anything about the location of their base?" Yusei asked, hoping Alex could come up with something useful. Alex tried to remember, but came up with nothing. "I can't remember, everything is a blur," he said. "It's okay, don't try to force it," Yusei advised, not wanting Alex to strain himself.

That's when Luna came back in with a sandwich and a glass of water, handing Alex the plate and setting the glass next to him on the nightstand. Alex thanked her before starting to eat, finishing the sandwich and draining the glass in just a couple minutes. "I really needed that," he said before he looked to the side and saw the duel runner he had made in his sleep.

"Where'd that come from?" he asked. "You made it with your powers in your sleep," Luna informed. "I've never made something that big before," Alex said, surprised at what he had made. "I checked it out while you were still asleep. That's some impressive stuff built into it, you must know a lot about duel runners," Yusei said.

"Thanks. I've always loved turbo duels, and even read up about duel runner construction and maintenance," Alex admitted. "If you're up for it, how about we take your runner for a test run?" Yusei offered. "Really?" Alex asked, excited about the prospect. "Sure," Yusei agreed before they brought Alex's runner down to the street.

Fortunately, his powers had also created a helmet. It had the same shape as Yusei's, but was black and gold instead of red and white. "Do you need any help starting it?" Yusei asked, but no sooner had the question left his mouth then Alex started his duel runner with no problems.

"I guess not," Yusei said. "It's weird, but it feels like a part of myself," Alex explained. "I see, well let's go for a ride," Yusei said before he started his duel runner and they took off down the street. While they were driving, Yusei popped up on the monitor of Alex's duel runner.

"How's she handling Alex?" Yusei asked. "Perfectly. It just feels natural," Alex responded. That's when a duelist came up behind them, an officer from Sector Security. The rider approached, revealing that it was Trudge. "Trudge? What are you doing here?" Yusei asked. Alex noticed that Trudge had a strange look in his eyes. He looked down and saw a glowing spider mark on his arm.

"Yusei, look at his arm!" Alex shouted. Yusei looked and saw what Alex was talking about. "That's the same mark that was on you!" Yusei exclaimed before a message appeared on the screen of Alex's duel runner, reading "Overriding Suspects Duel Runner, Turbo Duel Engaged".

"Trudge, duel me and leave Alex out of this!" Yusei demanded. "You'll get your turn Yusei, but the Dark Signers want Alex back," Trudge responded. "I guess there's no helping it. I accept this duel!" Alex shouted as he engaged the auto-pilot.

Alex: 4000 LP

Trudge: 4000 LP

"I'll go first, and I summon Warm Worm in defense mode," Trudge declared.

Level 3/Fire/Insect

ATK 600/DEF 1400

"I end my turn," he concluded. "It's my move," Alex said as he drew a card.

Alex SPC: 1

Trudge SPC: 1

"I summon Spear Dragon in attack mode!" he shouted.

Level 4/Wind/Dragon

ATK 1900/DEF 0

"And due to his effect, when he attacks a monster in defense mode, he deals piercing damage. Now, attack his monster with Sonic Laser Blast!" Alex ordered as Spear Dragon shot a laser from his mouth that struck Warm Worm dead on, destroying it.

Trudge: 3500 LP

"Due to Warm Worm's effect, when he's destroyed, you have to send 3 cards from your deck to your graveyard," Trudge explained.

Alex's deck: 31 cards

"Due to Spear Dragon's effect, when he attacks, he changes to defense mode after the battle. I place one card face-down and end my turn," Alex concluded. "It's my move," Trudge declared.

Alex's SPC: 2

Trudge's SPC: 2

"I play Speed Spell - Tribute to the Doomed. By sending a card from my hand to the graveyard, your Spear dragon is destroyed," he explained as a vortex opened up beneath Spear Dragon, bandages coming out and dragging Spear Dragon into the vortex before it closed. "And now I summon Shield Worm," he continued.

Level 4/Earth/Insect

ATK 800/DEF 2000

"And due to his special ability, he changes to defense mode and you have to send 1 card from your deck to your graveyard," Trudge explained.

Alex's deck: 30 cards

"I set two cards face-down and end my turn," he concluded. "My turn, I draw," Alex said as he started his turn.

Alex's deck: 29 cards

Alex's SPC: 3

Trudge's SPC: 3

"I play Speed Spell - Speed Fusion. Since I have 2 or more speed counters, I can perform a fusion summon using monsters I have in my hand or on my field as material, so I fuse Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Meteor Dragon to summon Meteor Black Dragon," he explained as an enormous dragon that looked like it had magma coursing through its body appeared on his field.

Level 8/Fire/Dragon

ATK 3500/DEF 2000

"Now that's a powerful monster," Yusei marveled. "I play my face-down card, the continuous trap Dragon's Rage. Now when my dragon type monsters attack your monsters in defense mode, they deal piercing damage," Alex explained. "And since Trudge's monster only has 2000 defense, he'll take 1500 points of damage," Yusei pointed out.

"Attack with Dark Meteor Impact!" Alex ordered as his dragon charged a dark purple fireball in its mouth before launching it at Shield Worm.

Trudge: 3500 LP

"What?! Why didn't your life points drop?" Alex asked. "Due to Shield Worm's effect, I take no damage when it battles. And now I play the Miracle's Wake trap. This will summon Shield Worm back, which will let me use his effect again, so you send another card to your grave," Trudge explained.

Alex's Deck: 28 cards

"I end my turn," Alex concluded, not having any other options. "I draw," Trudge declared.

Alex's SPC: 4

Trudge's SPC: 4

"I play the trap Limit Reverse. This will summon a monster with 1000 or less attack points from my graveyard. Return to the duel Dark Tuner Chaos Rogue!" Trudge shouted.

Level 8/Dark/Fiend

ATK 0/DEF 0

"Dark Tuner?" Alex asked, still having no memory of when he dueled Yusei the other day. "Alex be careful, he's about to summon a powerful monster! You did the same thing in our duel!" Yusei warned. "I Dark Tune Chaos Rogue with Shield Worm," Trudge said as Chaos Rogue dissolved into level stars, which were absorbed into Shield Worm, seeming to cause it a lot of pain.

Shield Worm became transparent, and its level stars merged with some of Chaos Rogue's, canceling each other out. The four remaining stars turned a deep shade of blue and swirled around, creating a black vortex. "I summon Dark Diviner!" Trudge shouted.

Level -4/Dark/Fiend

ATK 2000/DEF 1000

"Its level is a negative number?" Alex asked, not thinking that was possible. "Due to Chaos Rogue's effect, you have to send 5 cards to your graveyard," Trudge explained. "Again? I better end this duel fast or I'm not gonna have any cards left," Alex said before he placed the top 5 cards of his deck in his graveyard.

Alex's deck: 23 cards

"Now, Dark Diviner, attack Meteor Black Dragon!" Trudge ordered. "What? But my monster has more attack points," Alex pointed out. "Dark Diviner's effect activates. When he attacks a stronger monster, not only does your monster's attack become the same as mine, but you have to send 1 card to your graveyard for every 100 attack points your monster lost," Trudge explained as a black aura surrounded Alex's monster and his deck.

"What?!" Alex exclaimed. "Since your dragon lost 1500 attack points, you have to send 15 cards to the grave," Trudge pointed out.

Alex's deck: 8 cards

"But since their attack points are the same, they're both destroyed," Alex brought up. "Except Dark Diviner can't be destroyed in battle, so only your dragon is being destroyed," Trudge explained as Dark Diviner shot a beam of energy from its staff at Meteor Black Dragon, destroying it.

"I end my turn. Make your move count kid, because it just might be your last," Trudge advised. "I have a special connection with my cards. They've never let me down before, and I know they won't now," Alex thought to himself as he prepared to start his turn. "I draw," he said.

Alex's deck: 7 cards

Alex's SPC: 5

Trudge's SPC: 5

Alex looked at the card he drew and smiled. "I knew you guys wouldn't let me down," he said. "What are you talking about?" Trudge asked. "I share a bond with my cards. They've stuck with me through thick and thin. Come rain or shine, I know they'll always come through for me. I play Speed Spell - Overload Fusion. This card will let me summon a dark attribute machine type fusion monster by banishing the monsters I need from my field or graveyard," Alex explained.

"Say what?!" Trudge exclaimed. "I banish Cyberdark Edge, Horn, and Keel from my grave to summon Cyberdark Dragon!" Alex shouted as a massive mechanical dragon appeared over top of Alex, overshadowing Trudge's monster.

Level 8/Dark/Machine

ATK & DEF 1000

"This card holds a very special bond with me. This deck was made by combining the decks given to me by my uncle, the former pro duelist Atticus Rhodes, and my father's best friend Syrus Truesdale. They poured their hearts and souls into their decks, and I can still sense their intense spirits," Alex said. "A shame that all that intense spirit only amounts to 1000 attack points," Trudge mocked.

"He may only have 1000 original attack points, but due to his special ability, when he's summoned, I can take a dragon type monster from my graveyard and equip it onto him, giving him a boost equal to that monster's attack points," Alex explained. "Impossible!" Trudge shouted. "I equip Meteor Black Dragon, giving him 3500 more attack points," Alex declared.

Cyberdark Dragon: 1000-4500 ATK

"But that's not enough to finish me," Trudge pointed out. "Cyberdark Dragon has another special ability. He gains 100 attack points for every monster in my graveyard. Since there are 18 monsters in my graveyard, he gains 1800 more attack points," Alex explained.

Cyberdark Dragon: 4500-6300 ATK

"It has over 6000 attack points?!" Yusei and Trudge exclaimed. "Yep, and it's all thanks to you sending so many cards to my graveyard, Trudge. And since Dark Diviner's effect to reduce attack points only works when he attacks, this duel is mine. Cyberdark Dragon, attack Dark Diviner with Full Darkness Burst!" Alex shouted before Cyberdark Dragon let out an enormous roar, sending shockwaves through the air which struck Dark Diviner.

Trudge: 0 LP

Winner: Alex

Trudge's duel runner stopped and Alex and Yusei drove off, heading back to Blister's place. Once they arrived at Blister's, Yusei asked Alex about his deck. "So your deck combines the decks of two former pros?" he questioned. "Yeah. My uncle and Syrus gave me copies of their pro league decks for my 10th birthday, and I combined the decks into one," Alex explained.

"Well, I'm sure they'd be happy with the deck you've created," Yusei assured. "Thanks Yusei," Alex responded before he let out a large yawn. "Tired?" Yusei asked. "Very, let's go to bed," Alex answered. "Sounds like a good idea," Yusei responded before they both went inside.

Hey everyone. So Alex had his first Turbo Duel. I wanted to give the other characters from GX a tie into the story, and since Trudge's deck while under the control of the Dark Singers focused on deck destruction, I decided I'd fit two characters in at once. By the way, to everyone wondering, Jack still escapes the hospital with Carly's help and stays in a hotel with her. It was fun writing this chapter, but coming up with an idea for a unique duel runner for Alex was a pain, but then I remembered how much I love Beelzemon from Digimon Tamers, so his bike is the inspiration for Alex's duel runner.
