It was a couple of hours after Alex arrived at the hospital, and he was still in the emergency room. Everyone was sitting in the lobby, anxiously awaiting any news about Alex's condition. One of the doctors then came into the lobby and walked up to Jaden and Alexis.

"Is our son going to be okay?" Alexis asked. "Well, he had a few bad cuts on his stomach, but we've patched him up good as new, and he should make a full recovery," the doctor assured, drawing a breath of relief from both Jaden and Alexis. "He'll be okay, but he'll have to stay here for a day or two," the doctor informed.

"When can we see him?" Jaden asked. "You can see him right now. He said he wanted to see you as well, Mr. Fudo," the doctor informed as he turned to Yusei. "Can I come and see him as well?" Luna asked, wanting to see for herself how Alex was doing. The doctor agreed and led them through the hospital to Alex's room.

Once the door opened, they saw Alex laying on a hospital bed and Alexis ran up to him. "Are you okay Alex? Does it hurt anywhere?" she asked as she looked him over, although apart from a bandage or two on his check and the wrappings on his stomach, he was largely unhurt.

"I'm okay mom. I'm sorry I scared everyone," Alex apologized. "Your mother and I almost had a heart attack, but we're just glad you're okay," Jaden said, relieved. Alex looked down, clearly depressed. "Hey, what's wrong?" Alexis asked. "I couldn't win the duel. In the end, I was barely able to force a tie. I failed," Alex answered, feeling pitiful.

Jaden placed his hand over his son's in an attempt to reassure him. "You didn't fail. You're still here and that's what matters," he consoled. "And thanks to your duel, we have information on the Dark Signers that we didn't have before. You did great Alex," Yusei praised.

"Thanks everyone. I guess I'm gonna have to sit out for a while though," Alex jested. "Don't worry, we can handle them," Yusei promised. Luna walked up next to Alex's bed, seeming to have a hard time making eye contact. "I was so worried about you Alex," she confessed.

Alex blushed a bit at her comment, and while it went unnoticed by most of the people around him, his parents did notice it. They gave a silent nod to each other and Alexis spoke up. "Luna, why don't you stay with Alex while the rest of us leave and talk about what's happened?" she asked. "S-sure," Luna stammered.

Alexis bent down and kissed Alex on the forehead, telling him they'd come visit him tomorrow. Yusei, Alexis, and Jaden then left the room, leaving Alex and Luna by themselves. After a few moments of silence, Alex decided to say something. "So how did you know I was in danger?" he asked.

"My mark. It was like it was speaking to me, and I knew you were in trouble," Luna answered. "How did you know I would be here?" Alex asked, to which Luna responded she had heard from Jaden's parents, who she and Leo were visiting at the time. "I was so worried something had happened to you," Luna admitted.

Alex noted Luna's behavior, and his mind began to put the pieces together, and it gave quite the image. "Luna, can I ask you something?" he asked. Luna nodded and Alex asked if she liked him. Luna tried to play it off that she liked him as a friend and not much farther, but the fact that she was practically sweating bullets betrayed her.

"Luna, it's okay if you do. The truth is, I like you, a lot," Alex admitted. "Do you really mean that?" Luna asked. "I do. You were the first real friend I've had in a long time, and you're always so nice to me. You make me happy, and you make me feel good about myself when I'm down. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I'm in love with you," Alex confessed.

"Alex, I love you too," Luna admitted sheepishly. Alex asked if she really meant it, and Luna nodded. "You're smart, funny, kind, and you care about others. You're one of the best people I ever met, and I'm so glad we became friends," Luna complimented. "So does this mean we're, you know?" Alex asked, not really having any experience with this sort of thing.

"I'd like that. And don't worry, I don't mind keeping this between us for now," Luna promised. "Luna, there's something else I need to talk about," Alex said, his tone shifting to a more downtrodden one. "What is it?" Luna asked, wanting to help in any way she could.

"I'm terrified," Alex admitted, his hands gripping the sheets tightly. "Terrified of what?" Luna questioned. "The Dark Signers. I barely managed to tie against Kalin, what happens if I lose the next time I duel them?" Alex asked, not wanting to even think about joining them and hurting his friends and family.

"Hey, don't say that. I'm sure you'll win the next time you face them," Luna assured. "But what if I don't? What if I lose and end up joining them? I couldn't live with myself if I-" Alex began to respond before Luna wrapped her arms around him and began running her hand up and down his back, trying to calm him down.

"I know you're scared, I am too. But no matter what happens, we'll face it together, we all will. You're not alone Alex. You have me, Leo, Yusei, Jack, and Akiza right beside you," Luna promised. "Thanks Luna. I'm so happy I got to meet you and everyone else," Alex admitted.

"And we're all glad we got to meet you," Luna responded before she pulled back.

As she pulled away, Alex realized how tired he was. "Will you come and see me tomorrow?" he asked. "I promise. You should go to sleep, the doctor said you'll need your rest," Luna advised. "Okay. Be careful," Alex said before he laid back and closed his eyes.

Once Luna was sure he was asleep, she gave him a small kiss on his forehead and left his room, turning the light off behind her. She exited the room and gently pulled the door shut behind her, not noticing Jaden standing next to the door. "So what did he say?" Jaden asked, accidentally causing Luna to jump in surprise.

Jaden apologized for scaring her and allowed Luna to calm herself. Once she had steadied her heart rate, she answered "He said he's afraid of facing the Dark Signers again." "And what did you tell him?" Jaden asked, to which Luna responded she promised to support him.

"You really care about him, don't you?" Jaden inquired. "Of course. He's my best friend," Luna answered. "Are you sure he's not something more to you?" the former pro asked. "W-what do you mean?" Luna asked, hoping she could bury the lead. Yubel then appeared and floated beside Jaden. "He knows you and Alex like each other, Luna," she informed.

"Was she spying on us?" Luna asked. "No. Alexis and I could tell you two cared about each other as more than just friends, which is why we had Yusei leave the room with us so you two could be alone," Jaden explained. "I see," Luna said, still a little nervous. "Hey, you don't have to worry. Alexis and I support your relationship with Alex entirely. You two really care about each other, and neither I nor Alexis is going to get in your way," Jaden promised, drawing a breath of relief from Luna.

"Come on, Alexis and I will give you and Leo a lift home," he offered, to which Luna accepted. They met up with Yusei and Alexis in the lobby, and Jaden turned to the former of the two. "Yusei, why don't you stay with us tonight?" Jaden offered. "I'd hate to impose," Yusei responded, but Jaden just shook his head and said it was no problem.

"Alright, but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask for a ride. I had to leave my duel runner in the Satellite," Yusei informed. Alexis told him he was more than welcome to ride with them. Yusei got into Jaden's and Alexis' car with Leo and Luna and they all went to Jaden and Alexis' home.

That night, Yusei slept in the guest room of Jaden's home. He was comfortable and slept well. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for Alex. He was reliving his duel with Kalin in his dreams, and his powers were surging with his fear. He knocked out the power in half the hospital before the staff finally managed to wake him up.

One of the nurses called his parents, and one of the staff members, who was a member of the Arcadia Movement, called Sayer. They all rushed over to the hospital to check on Alex, with Jaden and Alexis arriving first. They ran to Alex's room and found him shaking while one of the nurses tried to calm him down. Alexis ran up to him and pulled him into her arms.

"It's okay sweetie, I'm right here," she consoled. A few minutes later, Alex calmed down enough to speak. "What happened?" Jaden asked. "I keep having nightmares about my duel with the Dark Signer. I had never been so scared in my life as when he-" Alex began to say before his mother pulled him closer to her.

"Shh, it's okay. You're safe, I promise," Alexis consoled. "Mr. and Mrs. Yuki, it's a pleasure to meet you both," a man's voice said from the entrance to the room. They all turned to face the person who just spoke and saw Sayer standing next to the door with Akiza standing next to him.

"Who are you?" Jaden asked. "My name is Sayer, and I am the head of the Arcadia Movement. We help psychic people learn to control their powers. One of my employees happens to work here as a side job, and thought it would be a good idea to call me after Alex's powers ran wild. If I were to guess, they surged in response to a nightmare of some sort?" Sayer guessed.

"That's right, but how did you know?" Jaden questioned. "It's quite common for someone who have psychic abilities to lose control of them in response to strong emotions, such as anger or fear. I could help your son learn to control his power," Sayer offered. "And what would you be asking in return?" Jaden asked.

"Nothing at all. I simply want to help him learn to control his powers and use them correctly. However, he will have to stay at the Arcadia Movement for a while. But don't worry, we have a medical staff with physicians more capable than the staff here, as well as the best security in the city. Your son will be well taken care of and comfortable, and will be able to leave the moment he so desires," Sayer promised.

Jaden thought this over for a second before turning to Alex. "It might be better for Alex to go with him. He may be able to help in ways we can't, and if the security is as good as he says it is, Alex will surely be safe from the Dark Signers there," he thought to himself before speaking to his son.

"Alex, I'll leave the choice up to you, but I think it might be a good idea for you to go with him," Jaden advised. Alex thought it over for a minute before answering, "Okay, if there's a chance it'll help, I'll go with him." "A wise decision. I promise you that we will do everything we can to help," Sayer promised.

"So when does he leave?" Alexis asked. "We can bring him to our headquarters tonight, and you could accompany him there if you wish," Sayer offered. "Alex, do you think you're ready to move?" Alexis asked. "I think so," her son responded before he got out of the hospital bed, admittedly with a little help.

The hospital staff brought him the clothes he was wearing when he arrived and he changed into them before walking out with his parents. "Just follow my car and I'll lead you there," Sayer said before getting into his vehicle. After a short drive, they arrived at the Arcadia Movement and Sayer led them inside.

As they were walking, they saw numerous people in uniforms in the hallway. "All these people are psychics?" Alex asked. "That's right. And they've all come here to learn to control their abilities," Sayer informed. "Sayer, there's something we need to tell you," Jaden piped up.

"And what would that be?" Sayer asked, although he had a guess. "Alex isn't exactly a psychic. His power comes from a… different source," Jaden said, not wanting to divulge the secret of Alex's power. "The Gentle Darkness, correct?" Sayer guessed. "Y-yes, but how did you know?" Jaden asked, surprised that Sayer knew about it.

"I've done my research. I noticed his deck and powers during the Fortune Cup and decided to do a little digging," Sayer responded. "So then you know this needs to stay between us," Jaden warned, his eyes flashing to the same colors as Yubel's for a second.

"Of course. But, even though his power stems from a different source, it works similarly enough to the powers of the people here that I should be able to help him," Sayer assured. "So where will Alex be staying?" Alexis asked. "He can stay with Akiza, if that's alright with you," Sayer asked as he turned to the person in question.

"I don't mind. It would be nice to have some company," Akiza agreed, and Alex said he was fine with it as well. They arrived at an elevator and went up to the floor where Alex would stay with Akiza. The elevator stopped and the door opened up. They all exited and walked down the hall until they reached Akiza's room.

It was actually more akin to an apartment. There was a living room, a small kitchen, a bathroom with a shower, and two bedrooms. "Well, you weren't kidding when you said he would be comfortable," Alexis commented. "We try to make the place feel like a home for the people who stay here," Sayer commented.

"Are you sure you'll be okay here Alex?" Jaden asked as he turned to his son. "Yeah. If this will help me control my powers, I'll do it," Alex responded. Alex hugged his parents goodbye and Sayer showed them out. "Come on Alex, you must be tired," Akiza said before she led Alex to his room and helped him get ready for the night.

"Goodnight Alex," she said kindly. "Goodnight Akiza. Thank you for helping me, and I'm sorry about your past. I know what it feels like for people to treat you badly because you're different. But for what it's worth, I think you're a great person," Alex responded. "Thank you. Pleasant dreams," his host responded.

She turned out the light and quietly closed the door behind her. That's when someone knocked on the door of Akiza's room. She opened the door and found Sayer on the other side. "Is Alex asleep?" he asked. Akiza nodded, telling him she had just helped Alex settle in for the night.

"Good. His parents gave me these before they left," Sayer said as he held out Alex's duel disk and one of his decks. "I'll give them to him in the morning," Akiza assured as she took the items from Sayer. "Good. After he eats in the morning, bring him to me so I can test his powers," Sayer requested.

"Alright. By the way, there's something I've been wanting to ask you. Not that I mind, but why did you want Alex to stay with me?" Akiza asked. "Simple, you and he have a lot in common, and I think it would be beneficial for you both. Well, good night Akiza," Sayer said with a smile.

Hey everyone. So Alex is fine and decided to go to the Arcadia Movement for help controlling his powers. And for everyone who's waiting for Sayer to show his true colors, well, Uno Reverse Card. He already is. When I was writing this chapter, I thought it would be interesting to change Sayer's personality and make him a good person. This will affect things a bit down the road, but a lot will still be the same as in the 5ds anime. But just know that in this series, Sayer is actually a good person.
