Itsuki was on his way to a certain room at the ORC building. He had already passed by the first and second floor, the latter finding a sealed room at the end of the hallway.
He could tell what was in there, sensing a vampire within the room though he couldn't wonder why. Maybe they were either A, a dangerous ally that the redhead had but couldn't control or B, they have a power that was hard to control and was wary around the others in order to keep them out the danger… most likely the latter.
After leaving his thoughts, he found the door he needed to be that allowed him into the main room of the ORC and then knocked twice.
"Hello!? Rias or Akeno?" He called out but no answered, he then heard a small sound that sounded like water… running water. Confused he slowly opened the door, and looked around before finding an odd sight in front of him. A shower curtain in the center of the room right beside the couches, coffee table and giant table on the side.
'Why is there a shower curtain in the middle of the room?' He asked mentally as he looked down and sound water running from the spot into the drain. 'Wait there's someone actually taking a shower?'
Hearing the shower turned off, Itsuki quickly stood straight before turning around and faced the door not wanting to be a perv. He heard the sounds of the curtain opening and the sounds of someone stepping out, the sounds of wet feet softly hitting the floor and the sounds were getting closer to him.
He was about to speak until two soft pillows pressed against his back and slender arms wrapped around his neck.
"Hmhmhm, hello Itsuki~" A sweet voice ranged through his ears, but he immediately knew who it was.
"Akeno!?" He called out, keeping his eyes closed. "Okay, two questions. What are you doing taking a shower in the middle of a room, and two why is there a shower in the middle of the room!?"
"Oh, Rias told me she invited you to come here so I was freshening up but I took a bit too long since you are already here." Akeno said while placing her chin on his shoulder. "You know you can open your eyes, I don't mind if you see me naked~" She teased as he shook his head.
"No, my mother has always taught me to be respectful and said it's bad to walk in on someone, though I did the latter so I apologize." He said as he felt her giggle.
"You're so innocent and sweet." Akeno praised while rubbing his cheek with her thumb. 'And it's that innocence of yours that makes me want to take you and taint it with my own essence.' She thought seductively before letting him go.
After she left to get dressed, Itsuki let out a sigh.
"You've got to be kidding me."
"Amazing, he didn't fall whim to Akeno's seduction immediately. He averted his eyes and remain calm while trying to be gentleman towards her." Rias thought while inwardly smiling at the boy in front of her. 'I wonder if he's the one that can help me.'
She then entered the room with a small smile on her face and greeted Itsuki like she wasn't there.
"Itsuki, so glad you could make it." Rias introduced as she walked in with a few others behind her, a young man with blonde hair and blue eyes, and a petite girl with a white hair and amber eyes.
"Rias, why is there a shower in the middle of the room?" He asked with a blank look on his face.
"Is it not okay for someone to have a shower after school?"
"Not when it's right in the middle of the room!" He exclaimed before letting out another sigh. "Oh, who am I kidding, I'm just going to let it go."
"Nice to meet you two um…"
"Kiba Yuuto." The blonde introduced himself while exchanging a handshake with Itsuki. "Nice to meet a fellow classmate." Itsuki then turned down to the petite girl who stared at him with a blank expression. He wanted to break the ice but he was unable to do so as the girl pointed to the couch as he turned his head not seeing anything on the couch wondering what she wanted.
"Um… is there something over there?" He asked while turning back around only to see her munching on a pack of gummy bears causing him to sweat drop. 'Alright then.'
"Sorry about that, Koneko doesn't talk much so she's a bit shy around others." Rias apologized for her junior.
'Yeah, I can't see that if there's a blank expression on them the entire time.' Itsuki thought while nodding his head and then went ahead and sat on the floor confusing everyone.
"Um, Itsuki, you can sit on the couch. you don't have to sit on the floor." Rias stated as Itsuki just waved his hand.
"Thanks but I'm good." He said while laying on his back and stared at the ceiling.
"Okay." As everyone took a seat, Akeno came out and was back in her school clothes with a smile on her face before gazing at Itsuki.
"I'm back," She voiced while walking over to Itsuki and leaned over him. The boy looking at the mounds of flesh that were hanging over him before changing his position and sat up. "Now why is my little darling kouhai sitting on the floor when he can be sitting in a chair?"
"Sorry, I just so used to sitting on the floor or standing. I do it for training."
"Training?" Akeno asked as Koneko's ears perked up at his voice.
"Yeah, for paintball and other things. Speaking of which, I got to see if those two are still on for tomorrow. Granted, they both tried to kill me before but that's in the past so it's fine now. Or is it not, maybe they could be doing something else, but then again, I shouldn't interrupt them…" Itsuki was voicing his thoughts on different scenarios about his friends as Akeno and others stared at shock for two reasons.
That someone had tried to kill him and that he said it so casually as if it was normal.
"Someone has tried to kill you?" Kiba voiced as Shu looked up and nodded his head before going back to his inner thoughts. "Shouldn't that be concerning?"
"Yeah, but I don't pretty much worry about it, I mean we're friends now but that's only after like failing to kill me maybe 25 times." Itsuki said as everyone gained concerned looks. "I mean yeah I got shot and stabbed at a lot but then again it's no big deal."
"Itsuki, hon?" Akeno called out and placed a hand on his arm bringing him out of his thoughts. "Forgive me for asking you this but are you sure you're okay? Talking about being shot and stabbed like it's nothing is very concerning. Both for you and your family."
"Oh, don't worry I'm fine, I live alone and my parents are gone so it's no big deal." Itsuki admitted while shrugging his shoulders.
"Itsuki, who are you?" Rias asked as she stood up from her spot. "I don't want to start this off bad or anything shady but it sounds like you're more than a normal student."
"Yeah, I'm not normal Rias, I'm crazy." Itsuki admitted while pointing to his eyes and they rolled around like they loop before stopping. "Let's just say when I was younger, I wasn't like at all but adults and I did a lot of things people considered dangerous or crazy and got sent into a mental institute. If anything, I should call you guys crazy."
"That's not very nice." Koneko said.
"No, I mean it's crazy that you devils, angels and fallen angels are still lock in the stupid three-way war with each other." Itsuki said as everyone let out a sound of surprise that Itsuki called them out in a casual tone.
"You… you know that we're devils?" Akeno asked.
"Well, yeah it wasn't that hard to figure out." Itsuki said as Rias stared at him in shocked until she remembered what he said when they first met. He excelled at history and science, at first, she thought he meant just history on Japan but now thinking back to it she could see that he meant that he knew history about everything including them.
Did that mean he already knew about her situation, about them, about her peerage, everything?"
Rias was surprised as she wondered if the boy was good at acting.
"Rias is the heiress of the Gremory Clan and you guys are her family or servants." He whispered the last part before speaking aloud once more. "Akeno is her queen, Kiba is the knight, Koneko is the rook and the last one in that locked room is your bishop."
"I... I don't… I can't… how do you…" Rias was slowly trying to catch up, still reeling from the fact that Itsuki knew who they were and wasn't bothered by it one bit.
"Itsuki… please tell me right now what are you?"
"I'm human… one hundred percent."
"And you don't care that we're devils?" Kiba asked.
"Honestly it doesn't matter what you are. Human, Youkai, Angel, Devil, who cares who you are…. The only thing that matters is the person that you are and who you choose to be. At least that's the code I always follow." Itsuki stated.
"Aw, look at that, my kouhai has a way with words." Akeno giggled while hugging the boy's head to her chest as he tried to escape her hold. "So cute." While Akeno should be more concerned at how he knows about their existence for some reason she didn't feel alarmed by him. She felt calm and natural as if she wasn't worried at all.
"Akenowweer wemgwepgma betwere prwaeewase!?" Itsuki hands were flailing around as he tried to escape but couldn't while everyone else enjoyed his reaction. Kiba chuckled nervously while Koneko walked over and patted the boy on the head as if he was a lost pet.
"Not helping!?" He shouted comically at the petite girl who was unfazed by it and continued doing it. Rias couldn't help but smile at the scene in front of her, she could clearing see that Akeno wasn't affected and had tried to lighten the mood.
After that short shenanigan, everyone was back in their seats.
"So Itsuki, since you know about us and everything else? What would you like to do now?"
"Eh, nothing much really. I mean other the homework I have to do and fix my paintball gear."
"Well then, since today was just introductions I guess, you don't have to stay here any longer than you need to." Rias said as Itsuki nodded his head.
"Yeah, sorry about ruining the whole grand introduction you probably had planned." Itsuki apologized while bowing his head.
"Oh, that's fine. Like I said I just wanted you to get to know our club and what we do, and have a certain queen spend some time with you." Rias reassured while gazing at Akeno who had a hand on her cheek while smiling.
"Well, then I best get going then." Itsuki said while standing up and dusting himself off. "It was nice to meet you all and everything."
"Itsuki, can I ask you something?" Rias called out.
"What is it?" He said while staring into her eyes.
"Would you… mind coming back here tomorrow?" Rias started as Itsuki stared at her with blank eyes but the former felt like it was her soul he was staring at. "I didn't want to force you into joining our club since it's up to you and I would like to get to know you better."
He was testing her, wondering if she would use this opportunity to try and recruit him as a member of the club or she would get to know him first and then recruit him later on. He would help her either way but he wanted to see what decision she would choose.
"Hmhm, sure why not." Itsuki said while shrugging his shoulders. "I would like to do the same since this would be the first club I've entered and group of people that don't try to avoid me." He stated unaware of the others raising their eyebrows in concern at what he said. "Anyway, I'll see you later."
Itsuki waved them goodbye and left the room as he was leaving the building.
"So, what do you think?"
"He was unorthodox…" Kiba answered in an uncertain tone.
"….He is nice and unknown." Koneko said next.
"Indeed, he wasn't even surprise for a bit that we were devils which makes me wonder how much does he truly know about us." Rias added as she thought about what to do around Itsuki. He seemed like a kind person but there were too many variables around him and she wasn't sure if he was danger to them or not. Still, it seemed that getting to know him is the first step to gaining his trust. She needed to play this carefully if she wanted to stay on his good side.
Rias let out a sound of surprise at what she was thinking. She felt sort of guilty at what she wanted to do, it made her confused on why she was feeling that way. It wasn't like she was going to do anything bad. She then turned her head to talk to her queen only to see that she was no longer there.
"Where did Akeno go?" She voiced.
Itsuki was at the gate as he turned around and started heading the opposite direction of his home, he stopped knowing that he was being followed.
"Come on out, Akeno." He called out as the said girl appeared with her hands behind her back. "What are you doing following me? You weren't planning on following me home, were you?"
"I'm sorry, Itsuki. I was just worried for you. I know you said that you were human and could take care of yourself but I can't just help myself… I wanted to make sure you got home safe." Akeno answered with a frown before it merged into a shy smile.
Itsuki smiled at the thought of someone caring for him other than his parents… he gazed at Akeno and could tell that she had something else to say on her mind.
"Anything else you want to add?" He asked as she looked down at the ground.
"Did….did you mean it when you said that you didn't care for who people are or where they're from?" Akeno asked silently as Itsuki tilted his head at her question. It seemed like this question was a bit personal for her, so he decided to answer the best way possible.
"Yes, I did. To me, I want to know the person you are, not where you came from or who you're related too. I notice that people always judge someone based on their looks, or who they're related from or do a one and done deal which in my opinion is stupid. People always looked at me like I was crazy or avoided me because of how quiet I was and assumed that I wasn't worth their time or someone important. But I didn't care because if people couldn't see me for me than what's the point of giving them any moment of my time." He explained while walking towards Akeno and stopped when he was right in front of her.
"Akeno, it's the person's actions and the personality that makes you well… you. Like I told Rias, I don't care if you're a devil, I want to know you before judging you and I'm not going to instantly despise you for being one or anything else, you are you and I am me, and that's all that matters." Itsuki answered as Akeno tilted her head up and the former put his index fingers on her cheeks and pushed them upwards to form a smile on her face. "There we go, now you're smiling."
Akeno stared at the boy in wonder. She had a problem with who she was because of being a hybrid. Having a human mother and fallen angel father, only to lose one because the rest of the family despise her for being a half and half. When they killed her mother and her father wasn't there for them, it made her hate her own kind for a long time and herself to an extent, and yet she has this boy in front of her who just straight up told her that he did not care for who she was. Only for her personality and the parts that make her who she is.
"Itsuki…." She trailed off as her frown turned into a smile. "….Thank you."
"No problem. I'll see you tomorrow okay." He waved as he went to turn around to walk once more unaware of Akeno staring at him as he walked.
'Itsuki… when I see you again… I will make you mine.' Akeno thought as she licked her lips and her eyes glowed dangerously.
Itsuki was humming to himself as he rocked his head back and forth listening to music on his noise canceling headphones when his phone had started ringing out of the blue, pausing his movements.
Taking out the phone, he looked at the screen and saw the contacts as Bladesmith and Gunner and answered it.
"Hello!"
"Hey Itsuki, are we still on for paintball?"
"Hey Short Stack!" He teased as he heard a crash through the other side and the voice changed into a growl.
"Who you calling Short Stack, you asshole!?" The girl shouted as she was grinding her teeth and Itsuki could swear he heard the sound of a gun being cocked in the background. "I swear if you call me that one more time, I will shoot gun right up your ass into the atmosphere!"
"Whoa! Take it easy Mine, I didn't think you were into that kind of thing. Though that does make me wonder if you got into anything kinky since I last saw you." He said earning a small scream from the other side of the phone.
"AAAAHHH! That's it, you're dead, you hear me dead!"
"Okay, okay, Mine calm down please." He heard a male voice calm down the said girl while sighing into the phone. "Must you piss my wife every time you call?"
"Hey, she makes it way too easy." Itsuki chuckled.
"Honestly, you two are like brother and sister sometimes I'm surprised you haven't killed each other yet."
"Tatsumi, your wife can kill me and I still be standing, my body would automatically either regenerate my wounds or rewind itself before the fatal wound." Itsuki said with a blank face.
"Either way, please stop antagonizing her."
"Yeah, yeah." Itsuki waved dismissively while walking. As he was on the phone, he was unaware of the pair of eyes that were staring at him, watching his every move.
"Anyway, are we having the paintball at your place or are we meeting up somewhere else?" Itsuki asked.
"We're meeting up somewhere else. We had a friend of ours that joining us today, do you remember Akame?" Tatsumi asked.
"How can I forget?" Itsuki chuckled as he recalled the black-haired swordswoman when they first met, with him eating her meat and ended up getting chased by her for eating her food. Granted they both had put their squabbling aside but Itsuki promised Akame that the next time they met, he would bring her some meat. "She's still mad at me that one time for eating her meat. I knew she would be upset but I didn't think she would try to kill me for it."
"Hahaha, I still remember that." Mine spoke up as she had calmed down. "I remember when she tried to slice you to ribbons the whole time, she was chasing you, especially since you were still eating her meat while doing so."
"Yeah, Akame's is somewhat defensive when it comes to her food, mostly meat." Tatsumi chuckled nervously. "Still, I believe you two won't have any problem being conversing with each other."
"Of course not." Itsuki agreed while he stopped walking for a quick second. "I did promise her that I would bring her some good meat and make it." Itsuki stated while at the same time he ducked at an attack that was aimed for his head and heard a shtink! Like something had just gotten stabbed, looking up he saw a colored spear sticking in a street lamp.
"That's good."
"Oh, so that means you're volunteering to cook Itsuki, I must say I'm very grateful for your generous offer." Mine said as Itsuki raised an eyebrow.
"I didn't say I was cooking you food, Mine." Itsuki clarified.
"I didn't hear a no from you~" Mine teased as Itsuki narrowed his eyes. "I mean I did tell Akame that you would be cooking us a three-course meal involving different types of meat and that she was looking forward to see how you do. I bet she would be so disappointed if you backed out now and that would mean that you aren't a man of your word, but someone who lies and breaks people hearts in the process so easily, oh how shameful." Mine said in a dramatic fashion that he had Tatsumi chuckle as he heard Itsuki on the other line.
"You sadistic flat chested, petite snarky little-" Itsuki cursed before stopping himself and let out a sigh in exhaustion. "I guess I deserve that one, didn't I?"
"You bet your ass you did." Mine agreed. "Now I'm looking forward to your cooking skills, Itsuki, try not to disappoint~" Mine voiced before she left and it was just Tatsumi now.
"Looks like you're cooking after all."
"Yep, you two are still the same people I saved." Itsuki said. "Alright I got to go, I meet you guys later on today, now if you excuse me, I need to go ahead and stop a fallen angel from killing me bye~"
"Wait, wait, what was that last part!? Itsuki!? Hey what are—" Itsuki hung up the phone leaving the blacksmith to somewhat panic.
"I'll call him back when I'm not busy, not speaking of busy." Itsuki paused as he turned around and stared at his adversary. "How long are you going to keep hiding there?"
As he called out to the air, someone had emerged from behind a tree. Standing there was a petite girl wearing a gothic Lolita outfit with a headband and she was staring at him with narrowed eyes. Itsuki could see something else, she was filled with any malice intent, her aura seemed… off.
"Well, hello there." Itsuki greeted like a certain jedi meme that has been around for generations. "How can I help you today?" He asked as the girl didn't say anything. She took a step forward as Itsuki remained still.
"I…" She started, pausing as if she was trying to find the right words. "Are…. Are you involved with the devils?" She asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Why?"
"I… I saw you leave the school after speaking to that girl… are you affiliated with the devils… or not?" the girl asked slowly, Itsuki notice that she was stuttering.
"Well, for your answer. No, I'm not, they're just a couple I've met."
"I see." The girl's shoulders dropped as she let out a breath that sounded like relief?
'That's unusual.'
"Then, can I ask you something please?" She asked, now Itsuki was really curious. Why would she say please if this was a threat? Something was off here. "Could you… could you please die for me!?" She quickly asked.
Before Itsuki could ask what, she meant, the girl had already made her way towards him with a spear in her hands already aimed for his heart, to give him a quick death.
The said boy stepped out of the way and gently pushed the girl causing her to stumble a bit before she regained footing. Turning around, she saw the boy still standing and gritted her teeth before letting out a battle cry and charged towards him. She tried to stab him relentlessly going either for his heart or his head and she kept missing due to Itsuki dodging her attacks.
Itsuki was watching the girl's movements and noticed that her footwork was sloppy and she was slashing recklessly around hoping to get him. If this was a threat then she would've either killed him from a far sniper style or up close without him noticing, though the latter would've heard her but let's leave that part out and say that if he were a normal human then it work.
"Stop. Moving. So. Much." She grunted; her spear thrusted with more force as she kept missing her target.
"Okay." He agreed while catching her spear and pulled it forward before tripping her. "I'll stop moving."
Clicking her teeth, the blonde let go of her spear and sprouted wings from her back before flying upwards. She materialized a whole ray of light spears and threw them towards Itsuki who just stood there as the light spears rained down on him and the ground around him causing dust to stir.
The girl panted for a bit while hoping that she got her target before the dust settled and her eyes widened in shock.
"W…What?"
Itsuki was still standing in the same spot as if the attack did nothing to him, which it didn't since the light spears were all around him and he sitting on the ground with a thinking expression.
"Now we got that, do you want to fight or do you want to talk?" He asked while holding up his hand. "I think you want to talk more than fight."
"N-no. Shut up! I have to do this! So just stand still and die!" She shouted with anger now as she materialized a giant spear and threw at him, but this time as it came, Itsuki stopped it with his two fingers before tapping it and causing it to disperse in thin air. Once he did, the blonde girl was in front of him and had a smaller version of spears in her hands and tried to stab him again but the result was the same, he continued to block her attacks with his two fingers as if it was nothing to him.
He then caught her fingers as she tried to struggle out of his grip.
"Are you sure you don't want to talk, you seem frustrated!?" Itsuki compromised while tilting his head.
"Stop it! You don't understand I have to do this!" She shouted as she kicked him in the chest and allowing her right hand to become free and stab him again but it didn't matter.
"No, you don't, we don't need to fight."
"Yes, we do, I have to do this! I HAVE TO, SO JUST DIE ALREADY PLEASE!" She screamed at him while instead of aiming for his heart, she just started stabbing in the same area towards his shoulder, Itsuki this time didn't flinch as it hit him and blood was coming out but his gaze was unfazed.
"COME ON! COME ON! WHY WONT YOU DIE!?" She grunted, trying to kill the boy in front of her but her stamina was running out and she just kept going in the same spot as if she didn't care.
Itsuki now knew something was wrong. Her movements, sluggish, her form shaking and out of breath, her tone…. pleading. She was begging for him to die but not in a malicious hatred type it was more, begging and filled with anguish as if she needed him to die because if she didn't succeed something bad would happen.
"Please… please… just let me kill you… please…" Her movements slowed down and tears gathered in the corner of her eyes, she was starting to lose hope and the strength to carry on her spear like she was giving up.
Itsuki expression changed into worry as he slowly reached up and instead of reaching for her arms, he went straight for her face, raising a hand and gently wiped away her tears with his thumb.
"Hey now, you shouldn't cry…. Just because it's not working doesn't mean you not making any progress." He said, causing her to pause her attempts. He then gently grab her right wrist and directed it towards his stomach just where his sternum was. "Strike me right here, if you do that, you'll stun for a tiny but crucial moment and when that happens…" he then guided her hand towards his chest, right where his heart is. "… then strike right here and that's an insta-kill." He said with a sad smile on his face.
The blonde girl was frozen in shock as the boy she was trying to kill was giving her tips on how to kill him instead of fighting back at her.
"W-why?" She asked….
"Because you sound like if I don't die something terrible might happened. So, I'll help you complete your objective, if it means that you'll be happy then I'm okay with it… now go ahead and do what I just show you… I promise I won't fight back." He said with a bright smile on his face.
The girl stared at him as she realized that he was okay with her killing him as long as she was happy in the end. She could've done it but the more she stalled the more her heart was filled with guilt and regret, she slowly raised her hand with the spear, shaking all the way as she aimed it towards his stomach.
She slowly held it in front and was about to stab him but as she did, her breath hitched, her throat feeling dry and her face feeling wet as tears flowed endlessly down her cheeks.
"I… I will… I…." She trailed off as her hand shook before she gripped it tightly and let out a scream.
"I CAN'T DO IT! I WON'T DO IT FOR MY OWN BENEFIT! I WON"T KILL SOMEONE SO KIND AND NICE TO ME, JUST SO I CAN BE HAPPY!? I WON'T DO IT!" She screamed before throwing her spears away as they cluttered to the ground and disappeared.
The blonde girl immediately sat in front of Itsuki, crying her eyes out while wiping away the tears that seemed to flow endlessly down her face as she tried to contain them.
She continued crying until a soft hand was placed in her hair and she was met with a kind expression of the boy who gave her a sad smile.
"You, okay?" He asked as she shook her head.
"No, I… I'm not. *hic* I was about to… I didn't want to *hic* I, I, *hic*." She kept sobbing every second as she tried to speak but couldn't. "I'm sorry…"
"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked as she looked at him stunned, just a few moments ago she had tried to kill him and now he wanted to help her even though he had every right not to. It made her feel guilty a bit more but also filled her with hope that maybe, maybe that he could help her save those that were important to her.
"Yes…" She said in a soft tone. Itsuki nodded his head and then stood up before turning around and squat down while holding his arms out with his back to her.
"Come on, I'll take you back home and then we could talk, okay." He said as she slowly nodded her head before climbing onto his back and let out a breath of contempt as she felt relaxed and warm.
'Warm…' Was the only thing going through her head as she wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her head into his shoulder as she felt drained.
Itsuki stood up now and then realized something.
"Hey, what's your name? I'm Itsuki, Itsuki Yurei."
She let out a small yawn and went to sleep but not before muttering her name out to him.
"Mittelt." She whispered and went into dreamland.
Making sure she was secure and comfortable, Itsuki went ahead and headed straight for his next destination.
'Looks like I'm going to be late.' He thought as he decided to take the little fallen angel back to his place where Ravel was, and then head over to Tatsumi and Mine.
