In the Satellite, a bunch of people were sitting around talking about the strange events happening recently. "I tell you, I saw it with my own eyes. There were these people trapped in purple fire, and then they all turned into some giant monster," one of them swore while some of them dueled.
"Yeah, I heard about that too," one of the others confirmed. "It's just an illusion. Besides, only the homeless live way out there, so it's not our problem," one of them pointed out, not concerned at all. "It should matter!" a voice shouted from up above them. Everyone turned and saw Crow standing on one of the old buildings.
One of the people asked who Crow was, and he just said "I'm the guy who's gonna put a stop to all this," before he mounted his duel runner and drove towards the crater in the downtown part of Satellite. "Are you nuts! If you go there, you'll be turned into a monster like all the others!" one of the duelists shouted.
"You guys should find a place to hide for a while," Crow advised before turning his attention back to the crater. "I'm coming for you, Dark Signers," he resolved. Back at Goodwin's mansion, Yusei was still coming to grips with the fact that Kalin was a Dark Signer, but he knew that he had to beat him for the sake of his friends and everyone he cared about.
Meanwhile Alex was still thinking about what Goodwin said. "Alex, I know you want revenge on the Dark Signers, but you need to keep a level head," Yubel advised. "I know Yubel. But it's more than just that. I just don't wanna lose anyone else," Alex admitted. Luna came into the room and saw Alex standing outside.
"I wouldn't bother him right now," Akiza advised. Luna turned to the side and saw Akiza sitting on the couch. "Has he been out there all morning?" Luna asked, and Akiza nodded. "He told me he needs some time to himself to think. He must still be torn up about what he did when he was merged with Nightshroud," she said, feeling sorry for Alex.
"I can't imagine how he must feel right now," Luna added. "So are you having second thoughts about all this?" Akiza asked, hoping Luna was holding up okay. "No way! I'm here to help you guys, and I'm gonna give it my all!" Luna responded enthusiastically. "Her and Alex are so young to be caught up in all this," Akiza thought to herself before she saw Alex walk back in.
"Hey Alex, wanna have a practice duel?" Luna offered. "Maybe later, although I wouldn't mind grabbing a bite to eat with you," Alex responded. Luna told him that she'd already eaten, but she would gladly go with him. Meanwhile in Goodwin's office, he pulled up a video screen and called Lazar.
"How are your plans progressing?" the director asked. Lazar chuckled and said everything was going according to plan. While they were talking, Alex and Luna arrived in the dining room and found Leo loading up a plate with food. "Leo! We just ate an hour ago!" Luna scolded. "Relax, will ya?" Leo responded.
"Leo, you need to take this seriously. It'll take everything we've got to face the Dark Signers," Alex responded. "Good luck with that, sounds like it'll be intense," Leo said nonchalantly. "So while we're out facing the forces of darkness, you're going to sit around here and do nothing?!" Luna asked angrily. "Pretty much," Leo responded apathetically.
In the Satellite, Crow had arrived at the crater and parked his duel runner before he began poking around. "No telling when Yusei and Jack will be back, so I've gotta man up and put as big a dent into the Dark Signers as I can 'til they get here," he said to himself before he saw Lazar coming out of the crater.
"That guy's so creepy, he's gotta be a Dark Signer," he said to himself as he prepared to face Lazar. He lied in wait for Lazar to pass him, and when he did, he threw a rope and caught him, but when Crow ran to get him, he saw that the rope had been tied to a pile of rubble.
"How did he do that?" Crow questioned before Lazar stepped out from behind a broken wall, chuckling at Crow's attempt to catch him. "It'll take more than that to catch me," he taunted before running, Crow pursuing him on foot. Crow kept running and chased Lazar into an abandoned building.
"I know you're in here, so stop hiding and show yourself," Crow shouted as he began searching the building. He heard Lazar laughing above him and looked up to see Lazar being lowered to the floor by a large hook. "I won't run and hide. If you go near that place, it would be rather troublesome," he said as he descended to the floor.
"I knew it, you are a Dark Signer," Crow said, confident he'd caught Lazar red-handed. "It appears there's been a misunderstanding. Since you had that criminal marker, I had thought you were a Dark Signer," Lazar responded as he finally reached the floor and stepped off the hook.
Lazar pulled a device from his sleeve and pulled up Crow's criminal record. "I see. You're friends with Jack and Yusei," he said as he looked over Crow's rap sheet. "I guess you're not a Dark Signer, so who are you?" Crow asked. "Forgive me, where are my manners? I am Lazar, right-hand man to the Director of Sector Security Mr. Rex Goodwin," Lazar introduced.
"Sector Security?" Crow questioned, wondering what Lazar was doing there. "In any case, I would advise you to stay away from the crater. Now if you'll excuse me, it's time for me to take my leave," Lazar said before he turned around and began to leave. Before he could however, a metal cuff attached to a wire snagged his duel disk, halting his escape.
"My my, you're very persistent," he said nonchalantly. "What is someone from Sector Security doing skulking around here? Didn't your boss tell Yusei to defeat the Dark Signers?" Crow asked. "That information is classified. I'm not required to answer a sewer rat like you," Lazar responded indifferently.
"You've got some nerve calling me names when you look like you just dropped out of clown school," Crow taunted as he pulled on the cable. "My, looks like no one ever taught you proper manners. I suppose I shall have to educate you in a duel," Lazar responded.
"Fine by me. It'll be a good warm-up before I face the Dark Signers," Crow said as he attached the other end of the cable to his own duel disk before they both shouted "Let's duel!"
Crow: 4000 LP
Lazar: 4000 LP
"I'll go first, and I summon Blackwing - Bora the Spear in attack mode," Crow declared.
Level 4/Dark/Winged Beast
ATK 1700/DEF 800
"And since there's now a Blackwing monster on my field, I can special summon Gale the Whirlwind from my hand."
Level 3/Dark/Winged Beast
ATK 1300/DEF 400
"I'll lay this face-down and call it a turn," Crow finished. "You have a monster and a tuner, but you're not going to synchro summon?" Lazar questioned. Crow just laughed and told Lazar it was his turn. "I hope you don't come to regret that decision," Lazar responded before laughing.
Back at the mansion, Luna couldn't believe what Leo said. "What do you mean? You're really not coming?" she asked. "I'm not a Signer, and I don't have any special powers like Alex. I'd just get in your way," Leo answered. "Leo, do you hear yourself? I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you," Alex responded.
"What are you talking about?" Leo asked. "Leo, you went head to head with one of the strongest forces of darkness this world has ever seen in an attempt to save your friend and protect your sister, and you think you're worthless?" Alex asked, reminding Leo of his duel with Nightshroud.
"But Luna was the one who beat him, not me," Leo pointed out. "I only beat him because you were helping me, Leo. I needed you back then, and I still need you now. Even if you think you're worthless, you're my hero, and I need you with me in the fight to come, if for nothing else than to just know you're there for me!" Luna shouted, her words slapping Leo in the face.
"Thanks guys. You're right, I may not have powers like the rest of you, but I can still help, even if it's just me cheering you guys on," Leo said. "Don't doubt yourself Leo. You're stronger than you realize," Alex assured. "Thanks. I'll be with you guys all the way," Leo promised.
"That's the Leo I know," Alex responded with a smile. Back in the Satellite, Lazar was about to start his turn. "I draw. I'll place three cards face-down and end my turn," he declared, much to Crow's surprise. "What? You're not summoning a monster? Don't you have any in your hand?" the orange haired duelist questioned.
Lazar just said "Perhaps," and laughed. "Alright then, I draw! Three face-downs or not, I'll take the opportunity to open up a lead. Bora the Spear, attack directly!" Crow shouted as his monster began spinning as it charged at Lazar. "I activate the trap card Imperial Manners. When you attack while I control no monsters, then all your monsters in attack mode are destroyed," Lazar explained.
Bora stopped his attack as he and Gale were surrounded in a purple aura. "Sorry pal, but I activate the trap Urgent Tuning!" Crow shouted as his face-down card flipped up, showing an image of Junk Synchron, Speed Warrior, and Junk Warrior. "I see. You were planning on using both your monsters for a direct attack, then using your trap card to synchro summon during the battle phase, and attack me again to seal a victory," Lazar surmised.
"Yeah, but now I'll use it to summon a monster in defense mode to protect me from your upcoming attack," Crow responded. "I think not. I play the continuous trap Discord. While this card is in play, neither of us is allowed to synchro summon a monster, meaning your trap card fails," Lazar explained as both of Crow's monsters were destroyed.
"I gotta hand it to you, that was a pretty good move," Crow complimented begrudgingly. "While I thank you for the praise, it was obvious what you were planning since you didn't synchro summon during your previous turn," Lazar responded. "Well don't get cocky just because your little combo worked. I place one card face-down and end my turn," Crow conceded.
"For goodness' sake, why did a buffoon like yourself set foot into such a dangerous place?" Lazar asked. "So that I can help Yusei defeat the Dark Signers and protect the Satellite, that's why," Crow responded indignantly. "Just give it up. A swamp rat like you couldn't hope to defeat the Dark Signers," Lazar degraded.
"Just put a sock in it. Even if I am a buffoon or a swamp rat, the duelist with the stronger spirit always wins in the end!" Crow shouted in defiance. "Well, you are an entertaining fool. I'll give you something to remember. I draw! And I summon Jester Lord in attack mode," Lazar declared.
Level 1/Dark/Spellcaster
ATK 0/DEF 0
"What? No attack points? Then why summon it in attack mode?" Crow asked. Lazar ordered his monster to attack Crow, his monster juggling three spheres in its hands as he approached the duelist. "Why are you attacking when your monster has no points?" Crow asked.
"When Jester Lord is the only monster on the field, it gains 1000 attack points for every spell or trap card on the field," Lazar explained as the spheres his monster was juggling lit on fire.
Jester Lord: 0-3000 ATK
"If you think I'm gonna sit here and take 3000 points of damage, you've got another thing coming. I play the trap card Dust Tornado! This will let me destroy your Discard trap card," Crow explained. "I see. By destroying Discord, you'll lower Jester Lord's attack power by 2000 points and be able to synchro summon again," Lazar realized.
"That's right clowney," Crow mocked, thinking he was finally making some headway. "However, I activate the continuous trap Imperial Custom, and while this card is in play, none of my other continuous traps can be destroyed," Lazar explained. "Even so, since my trap is no longer on the field, your monster loses 1000 attack points," Crow pointed out as one of Jester Lord's juggling balls vanished.
Jester Lord: 3000-2000 ATK
Jester Lord launched his two remaining juggling balls at Crow, striking him in the chest.
Crow: 2000 LP
"Not bad. I didn't think Sector Security had any members that could duel so well," Crow complimented. "Thank you for the kind words. I suppose you also did well by lowering Jester Lord's attack points by using your trap card," Lazar complimented in turn. "In that case, let's keep it going," Crow suggested.
