Trudge was driving Leo and Luna to the monkey control unit and Leo was looking at the rooftops and the dozens of crows lining the rooftops staring down at them, and they were putting him on edge. Luna put her hand on his shoulder to try and get his attention, but scared him and caused him to yell out.
"Don't scare me like that Luna," he said as he tried to steady his heartbeat. "You scare me when you scream like that," Luna responded. Leo apologized, saying the crows were just playing havoc with his nerves. "You shouldn't have come with me Leo," Luna responded, worried about her brother's wellbeing.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine. I'm not gonna let some crazy birds scare me away. I'm here for you, and I'm not going anywhere," Leo promised. Suddenly the spirit of Luna's Kuribon appeared in front of Luna and started jumping around frantically. "Something bad is happening in the spirit world isn't it?" Luna asked.
"Who are you talking to back there?" Trudge asked, not being able to see anything other than the twins in the back seat. Suddenly Luna was enveloped in a bright light, and a beam of light shot into the sky. Alex and Yusei noticed and stopped to get a better look. "That's coming from the direction Luna went," Yusei said before he turned in that direction.
"I have a bad feeling about this," Alex thought before going to investigate himself. Back in the truck, the light was so intense, it caused Trudge to lose control and he ran into a scrap heap. "Are you kids alright?" he asked, still somewhat blinded. "Yeah, I think I'm okay. What about you Luna?" Leo asked, his vision coming back into focus.
He waited for a moment but didn't get any kind of answer. He looked towards her, but the only thing he saw was an empty seat. "She's gone!" he exclaimed. "What?! But how?!" Trudge exclaimed, ruling out Luna being thrown from the vehicle as the seatbelt was unbroken and still fastened.
"That light came out of nowhere, and when it faded, she disappeared," Leo informed. "We've gotta find her. She could get hurt out here all by herself," Trudge said as he and Leo got out of the vehicle. He and Leo walked around calling her name in an attempt to track her down, but while Leo was walking, he came across the control unit.
"Well, now we know where the control unit is. Now if we could just find Luna. Devack, where are you?" he shouted. "I've been waiting for you, Signer," Devack said as purple flames sprung up around Leo, creating the monkey geoglyph. Akiza noticed the symbol floating in the sky and pointed it out to Mina. "It looks like Luna's duel is about to begin," she said, although something felt off.
Jack had stopped his duel runner and was staring in the direction of the geoglyph. "Looks like the final round has begun," he said to himself. Back at the duel field, Leo had just come to the realization that he was about to duel Devack. "Who are you? You're not a Signer, what are you doing here?" Devack asked as he realized it wasn't Luna who had shown up.
"I'm here to duel you. That is unless you're afraid to take me on," Leo taunted. Trudge ran to the top of a nearby hill and saw Leo in the middle of the barrier. "Is this some kind of joke? Where's the little girl? Why isn't she here? I told her to come," Devack responded, thinking Leo was beneath him.
"I won't let you hurt my sister, so you're gonna have to duel me instead. I may not be a Signer, but that doesn't mean I can't duel, so bring it on!" Leo said as he activated his duel disk. "I applaud your enthusiasm boy, I truly do, but you lack the power to defeat me," Devack said as he engaged his duel bisk before both duelists shouted "Game on!"

"Leo, get out of there, don't be a fool!" Trudge shouted from outside the barrier. Just then, Alex and Yusei showed up on their duel runners. "What are you two doing here?" Trudge asked as Yusei and Alex dismounted their duel runners and walked up to him. "I turned around when I saw that pillar of light. What's going on?" Yusei asked as he and Alex approached the officer.
"Well first, Luna disappeared to who knows where," Trudge answered. Alex said she must've gone to the spirit world, but Trudge said that there was no such thing. "After everything you've seen, do you really think that?" Alex questioned.
"We can talk about this later, right now we've gotta stop this duel. Hey Devack, that kid's not a Signer! You can't duel him!" Yusei shouted. "I already am. And once a shadow duel begins, it cannot be stopped until somebody wins," Devack responded. "Then let's get going. It's my move! I summon Morphtronic Magnen in defense mode," Leo declared.

He then set one card and ended his turn. "My set card is Morphtransition, so if he attacks, I can negate his attack. Then if I can summon another Magnen on my next turn, I'll be able to stop him from attacking," he thought to himself. "Leo, you've gotta stop this! You need to find a way out of this!" Yusei shouted.
"No way Yusei! If I can beat Devack then Luna won't have to face him!" Leo responded. "Leo is stronger than you give him credit for Yusei," Alex assured. "But is he strong enough to beat a Dark Signer?" Yusei questioned. "All we can do right now is hope Leo has what it takes to win," Trudge answered.
"You guys stay here and make sure Leo pulls through, I'm gonna see what I can do to help Luna in the spirit world," Alex said before he turned and walked back to his duel runner. "But how are you going to get to the spirit world?" Yusei asked. "Just let me worry about that," Alex responded as he strapped his helmet on.
He got on his duel runner and drove off. As he was driving, his duel runner started to be cloaked in shadows before he drove into the shadow of a building and disappeared. "Good luck Alex," Yusei said once he had vanished. Meanwhile, Luna was coming to in the spirit world. She raised her head up and saw she was in some kind of forest.
"Looks like I made it," she said to herself before she was greeted by a familiar spirit. "Kuribon, it's you," Luna said before she turned her head to the side and saw a large mountain in the distance. "That's the mountain where Ancient Fairy Dragon was sealed away," she said to herself before she began walking.
Back in the real world, Leo and Devack's duel was proceeding. "It's my turn, I draw. And I summon Magician Ape in attack mode," Devack declared.

"I now activate my monster's special effect. By discarding one card, I can take control of one of your monsters, but I cannot change the battle mode of that monster, so I discard one card to take your Morphtronic Magnen," he explained as his monster launched a stream of blue lightning from his staff, dragging Magnen to Devack's field.
"And with that out of the way, Magician Ape attacks you directly!" Devack shouted as his monster shot a bolt of purple electricity at Leo, causing him to cry out in pain. "Leo!" Trudge exclaimed in concern as Yusei told him to hang in there.

In the spirit world, Luna could hear her brother screaming. "That sounded like Leo just now. You don't think he's dueling, do you Kuribon?" Luna asked as she turned to the spirit. Back at the duel, Leo had fallen to his knees. "Well, that hurt. This duel is as intense as when Luna and I dueled Nightshroud," he said to himself.
"Don't worry, I'll try to send you to the Netherworld with as little pain as possible. That is the only mercy I can offer you," Devack said. "I won't let you hurt Luna!" Leo shouted as he shakily got to his feet and breathed deeply for a minute before continuing the duel. "It's Leo's turn, but I'm worried. He doesn't look so good," Yusei noted.
"He's a tough kid. He can handle whatever Devack throws his way," Trudge assured. Yusei said he hoped the officer was right, and Devack just chuckled. "Your friends up there seem to think you can handle more punishment. Care to test that theory?" he asked. "You bet I do! I draw!" Leo shouted before he looked at the card he drew.
"Magnen Bar. This isn't much help to me. Wait! If I summon it, I bet Devack will try to take it using his Magician Ape's effect, and if he does-," he thought before placing the card on his duel disk. "I play Morphtronic Magnen Bar in defense mode!" he declared.

"I'll end my turn with a face-down," Leo finished. "It looks like you're scraping the bottom of the barrel," Devack mocked. "We'll see about that Devack. I won't let you hurt Luna," Leo reaffirmed. Back in the spirit world, Luna was running through the forest. "I can't believe I'm back in the spirit world. Now that I'm here, I have to keep my promise and save the Ancient Fairy Dragon," she said to herself.
She remembered what the Ancient Fairy Dragon had told her, and that she had to find Regulus. "Okay, so I've gotta find Regulus, rescue Ancient Fairy Dragon, take her back to the real world to help Leo, defeat the Dark Signers, and save the planet. Easy," she said in an attempt to assure herself.
As Luna was running, she saw a town in the distance. She arrived in the city and it seemed to be abandoned. "It doesn't look like anyone is here," she said before she looked ahead and saw numerous duel spirits down the road. "Hi, I'm Luna, can you help us?" she asked as she tried to approach them, but they all ran away when she got close.
"Wait, we're not going to hurt you!" the Signer shouted as she tried to follow them. She turned down one of the streets and saw the spirits running away. "What are they afraid of? Luna saw one of them around the corner of one of the buildings. The spirit realized it had been spotted and ran away.
"Wait! Don't run away! If we don't catch those kids, we'll never find Regulus," Luna said to Kuribon, feeling winded. She spotted a nearby bench and stopped to rest on it. After sitting down for a minute, she steadied her breathing and tried to figure things out. "I just don't get why they're scared of us,"
She lifted her head to see numerous spirits watching them before they ran away. Kuribon got Luna's attention and directed her attention to a nearby flight of steps. "What is it, Kuribon?" Luna asked as she walked over to the spirit. When she reached the stairs, she saw a ball bouncing, but what really grabbed her attention was that the ball was bouncing up the stairs.
She caught the ball as it bounced towards her. "Okay that's strange, since when do balls bounce up stairs?" she asked. She then heard a rustling sound and turned her head to the side and saw leaves rising up off the ground and reattaching themselves to a tree. "It's like everything is happening in reverse here. If we don't find out what's causing it, I might end up in diapers again," Luna commented.
Kuribon made another sound, pointing to a strange metal stave driven into the ground by the tree. "You think it's that staff? They're all over town," Luna pointed out, remembering seeing similar objects everywhere. A strong breeze then blew through the town, blowing the ball out of Luna's hand.
"Where's that wind coming from?" she asked before one of the spirits shouted "The collectors are coming!" Luna asked who the collectors were, and one of the spirits said they capture duel spirits before another one of them told everyone to hide. Suddenly, a purple mist seeped out of one of the streets near Luna.
"I don't know what that is, but let's not wait around to find out!" Luna said before she ran away. The mist faded away and revealed a troop of monkeys wielding staffs like the ones littered around town. "I don't want anyone messing around like last time," the head monkey said. The other monkeys nodded and spread out to hunt for spirits.
Luna had hidden away in one of the side alleys with Kuribon, trying to remain calm. "No wonder everyone's hiding," she said quietly as her deck began to glow. She pulled it out and held it close to her, trying to calm her duel spirits.
A group of duel spirits came running down the street, followed closely by the monkey soldiers, one of whom turned down the street Luna was on and found her. Luna screamed out before Kuribon, Sunny Pixie, and her Sunlight Unicorn manifested themselves and ran away.
"Wait, stop!" Luna shouted as the monkeys chased after her spirits. "Oh they'll stop alright," one of them said as the monkeys pointed their staffs at Luna's spirits and launched beams of purple energy at them, locking them into large stone tablets that looked like their duel cards.
Having petrified them, the monkeys turned their attention back to Luna, who proceeded to run for all she was worth. She kept running until she wound up in a dead end. "Oh no," she said as she realized she was trapped. She could see that the soldiers were approaching the alley she was in. Suddenly, one of the pavement stones lifted up, revealing a spirit Luna was familiar with.
"This way lady Luna," the spirit coaxed. Luna dove into the hole with the spirit and the stone dropped just before the soldiers arrived at the alley. "Huh, didn't she run down this alley?" one of them asked, wondering how Luna just vanished. "She's got to be around here somewhere, fan out and find her!" the head monkey ordered.
