Chapter 4: First Suspect
Devon didn't think much of it when Piper entered Kyler's house. Devon lived right across the street from him and consistently saw Cobra Kai members walk in and out all the time. Her bedroom window had the perfect view. However, what she didn't expect was for Piper to not come out and for dozens of police cars to pull up to the Park residence. Devon's heart stopped when she saw what appeared to be someone being taken out of the house in a bodybag. What the hell was going on? Devon walks downstairs and begins texting what she saw to the Eagle-Fang group chat. As she entered the living room, she was still on her phone. Before she can hit send, she looks up and is face to face with Ghostface. They were wielding a knife. Devon screams at the top of her lungs and runs as fast as she can out of her house and over to the police.
"Ma'am, what's wrong?" An officer asks.
"A…a guy's in my house with a knife!" Devon shouts as she points to her house.
"Stay here." The officer says as he and a team of police begin approaching the residence, guns drawn. As Devon watched the officers enter her house, she couldn't shake the feeling that this was the guy who was responsible for whatever happened at Kyler's house.
Later…
The first thing Moon did when she arrived at Eli's house was hug her boyfriend. She could see how red his eyes were.
"I'm…I'm so sorry." Moon says.
"It's fine. I actually just got word that Miguel woke up." Eli says.
"Oh, that's wonderful!" Moon says. Eli doesn't seem thrilled.
"I…what if Miguel can never walk again? He…he was stabbed in the back. I'm worried he won't recover." Eli says. He didn't want to admit it, but he was feeling the same way he felt when Miguel went over that railing on the first day of Junior year. He was feeling all that pain all over again.
"Hey, I'm sure he's going to be alright. Miguel has been through everything and has always come out on top. I'm sure he'll recover." Moon says. Suddenly, the two are startled when Demetri suddenly emerges from the kitchen.
"Jesus, Demetri." Eli says.
"Sorry, didn't mean to startle you." Demetri says.
"Where have you been? Why did you leave in a hurry? And why did you come in through the back?" Eli asks.
"Oh…I…I…I didn't want to make a scene entering your house." Demetri says nervously. Eli raises his eyebrow.
"What's with the bruises on your hand?" Eli says. Demetri quickly hides his left knuckles from view.
"Oh, just an accident. I fell." Demetri says.
"Okay…I guess I'm just being paranoid." Eli says.
Later…
"Are you really not gonna tell me what we're doing here, Johnny?" Daniel asks.
"One of my students, Devon, claimed that a man broke into her house last night. This man was wearing a Ghostface costume and was holding a knife." Johnny says. Daniel's eyes widen.
"You could've just told me." Daniel says. Eventually, the car pulls up to the Lee residence, Devon waiting outside. The Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang Sensei's step out of the car and approach Devon.
"What did you need to tell us?" Johnny asks.
"You already know about the Ghostface guy who broke into my house, right?" Devon asks.
"Yeah." Johnny responds.
"Well, before that, the police arrived at the house across from mine and pulled out a body." Devon says.
"What?! Seriously?!" Daniel asks. Devon quickly nods.
"Well, how do you know the two incidents are connected?" Johnny asks.
"Because the person who lives across from me…is Kyler Park." Devon says. Before the Sensei's have time to react, everyone receives an alert on their phone. A news article had popped up.
"Local teen, Kyler Park, was found dead at his residence, a victim of an apparent homicide. Police are currently looking for Piper Elswith, the last person seen entering the Park residence before Kyler was found dead. Kyler was found stabbed multiple times. This case may be connected to the murder of Thomas Nelson and attempted murder of Miguel Diaz." Johnny reads.
"Holly…" Daniel says.
"Who is this Piper chick?" Johnny asks.
"She's in Cobra Kai, and fought against Sam in the All Valley. I was the one who saw her enter Kyler's house. I didn't see her leave though." Devon says.
"She did this?" Daniel asks.
"I'm not a hundred percent sure." Devon says.
"This just doesn't make sense. First, the killer attacks Eagle Fang, then Miyagi-Do, and now Cobra Kai? What alliance does this person have?" Johnny asks.
"What makes you think this person is in a dojo?" Devon asks.
"How else would they have the skills to nearly take out Miguel, and fight Sam? They're some of the toughest fighters in the valley, yet this person had the balls to attack them both." Johnny says.
"If they're in a dojo, then why are they targeting everyone?" Devon questions.
"I don't know. We're gonna figure this out." Daniel says.
Later…
"Holy shit." Moon says.
"What?" Eli asks.
"I just got a text from Piper." Moon says as her eyes widen in shock.
"What does it say?" Eli asks.
"I…I can't. I'm gonna vomit." Moon says before handing her phone to Eli and running into the bathroom. Eli looks at what Piper sent with Demetri looking over his shoulder. Both of their eyes widen in shock.
"What do you think of my work?" The text from Piper reads. Underneath this message, was a close up picture of Kyler's dead body.
Author's Note: Sorry for the lack of uploading. Better late than never. Johnny and Daniel are acting as detectives. Will they be able to figure out who is behind these killings? Is Piper Ghostface? Who else could have a motive for wanting Miguel, Sam, and Kyler dead? Why are they targeting people from all three dojos?
