Yusei, Alex, Trudge, Leo, and Luna had arrived at the duel track, but hadn't spotted who was dueling. "You guys stay back while I check things out. It's too dangerous," Yusei warned. "We can't leave you Yusei. What if something happens? We don't even know who this new Dark Signer is, and what if they have another Earthbound Immortal?" Luna asked.

"Yeah. We're all in this together, Yusei. Where you go, we go," Leo added. Yusei relented, but insisted he go ahead to scout out the duel before he turned his duel runner and jumped down into the track. Alex wasn't about to let Yusei go without him, so he drove into the shadow of a building before reappearing out of another shadow next to Yusei.

"I should've figured you'd follow me. Time to see who's throwin' down," Yusei said as they drove down the track. Back at the duel, Crow was still flying through the air and was about to collide with the barrier. "No, I can't go down like this. I owe it to the kids," he said to himself as he engaged the wings on his duel runner and launched himself back onto the track.

"Not bad, but if Crow had any brains, he'd use those wings to fly away," Greiger mused to himself. "I place one card face-down and end my turn, which means Diving Exploder's effect ends and Trap Reactor's attack points return to normal," he declared. "Then get ready, because I'm coming at you with everything I've got, and this bird's got some claws," Crow warned.

Greiger SPC: 2

"First I play the speed spell Angel Baton. Since I have 2 speed counters, I can draw 2 cards as long as I send 1 card from my hand to the graveyard. And now I summon Blackwing - Mistral the Silver Shield in defense mode."

"And since birds of a feather flock together, I can special summon Bora the Spear from my hand."

Level 4/Dark/Winged Beast

"Bring it on, I'll bring both those birds down to Earth," Greiger assured. "Not if I can help it. Bora the Spear, attack his monster with Spiral Lance!" Crow ordered as Bora launched itself at Greiger's monster, a spiral of black energy coming off his spear as he rammed into Trap Reactor, setting off explosions on the neighboring buildings.

A large piece of concrete fell towards Greiger, kicking up a massive dust cloud. Crow thought he had just sealed the deal, but his hopes were dashed when Greiger drove out of the cloud with hardly a scratch on him, and not only that, his monster was also unharmed.

Greiger: 3100 LP

Crow asked why Greiger's monster wasn't destroyed, but then he noticed a trap card with a picture of Zaborg the Thunder Monarch on Greiger's field. "When you attacked, I activated the Fake Explosion trap card, which prevented my monster from being destroyed, but it doesn't stop there. After the battle, I can bring out Summon Reactor SK from my hand," the Dark Signer explained.

Level 5/Dark/Machine

ATK 2000/DEF 1400

"Way to go Crow, not only did you fail to take out his monster, but you let him expand his air force. I just know he's holding onto Spell Reactor RE, and once it hits the field, so does the big dog, Flying Fortress SKY FIRE. It put up quite a fight against Alex in the tournament," Crow thought to himself as he recalled Alex's duel with Greiger.

Meanwhile, Yusei and Alex were closing in on them. "This duel must be around here somewhere," Yusei said, still not seeing who was dueling. Alex suggested they could be turbo dueling, and Yusei said that was pretty likely. Suddenly, they could see headlights in the distance.

"Looks like we found 'em," Alex said as they got closer to Crow and Greiger. "Why don't you finish your turn so I can end your misery. You will never beat me Crow, not with the dark power I wield," Greiger derided before an alarm went off on his duel runner. He checked the screen and saw Alex and Yusei riding behind them.

"Yusei and Alex are here?" Crow asked, just taking notice of his friends. "I'm so glad you're alright, Crow," Yusei said as they caught up. "Yeah, but look who he's dueling," Alex pointed out. Yusei looked at the other duelist and was surprised when he saw who it was. "Greiger? Don't tell me you're the new Dark Signer," Yusei said.

Greiger confirmed he was a Dark Signer, and that this was the only way to get revenge on Goodwin for what he did to him. Alex asked what Goodwin had done to him, and Greiger's face contorted in anger. "He took my home and family from me! And if becoming a Dark Signer is what it takes to make him pay, then so be it!" he shouted.

"What do you mean he took your family from you?" Yusei asked. "I hacked into Goodwin's private files after my match with Alex at the Fortune Cup. Contrary to what I thought, my village hadn't been destroyed by a natural disaster. Goodwin decided to use our village as a little testing ground for an experiment to resurrect the Crimson Dragon," Greiger informed.

"So what went wrong?" Crow asked. "He couldn't control the energy. When I returned home, the entire village was gone! Everyone who lived there had disappeared, and were nowhere to be found, including my brother and sister," Greiger said, his tone laden with regret.

"I'm so sorry that happened to you. I know what it's like to lose the people you care about," Alex responded. "You lost someone you care about?" Greiger asked, not knowing about what Misty had done. "My parents. I lost them during a shadow duel with one of the Dark Signers. I'll never forgive her for it," Alex said as he tightened his grip on his duel runner.

"I see. You and I are one and the same. Well, fortunately for me, once I'm done with Crow, I'll be able to focus on making you a Dark Signer as well," Greiger responded. "That's not gonna happen, because I refuse to lose to you," Crow vowed. "Crow, you remember what happens in these shadow duels, so please let me take your place. This is my battle to fight," Yusei responded.

Crow refused, saying the Dark Signers took his family from him. Yusei asked what Crow as talking about, and Crow explained that when the black mist covered Satellite, it took the kids he was looking after, and that it was his fault for not protecting them. "I see, Crow is in this for the same reason as me and Greiger, to avenge our families," Alex thought to himself.

"Now do you see why I gotta do this? I started this duel and I'm ending it," Crow resolved. "You need to listen!" Yusei shouted, but Crow shook his head. "To what? You're not talking me out of this Yusei, those kids were all I had, I owe them this much. And so much more. See, you don't know the truth about me," Crow said as he recalled his childhood before he met Jack and Yusei.

"As a kid, I didn't have a family. I didn't have to do chores or go to sleep early. Now I know that living without rules might sound like fun, but around here it was dangerous. I learned that the only person I could depend on was me, and the world can be a lonely place when your only company is your shadow," he continued, remembering how alone he was back then.

"A warm meal, a soft bed, these were the things I dreamed about, but becoming a professional duelist was what I hoped for the most. And so I tried to make my dream a reality," Crow informed. "How'd you do that?" Alex asked.

"I figured if I could build a deck I could win a few duels and score my way out of Satellite. So I hit the dump, the only place where a kid from the streets could hope to find a card or two," Crow answered as he thought about how he dug through piles of garbage for days to find enough cards to build a deck.

"They weren't just cards you see, they were my ticket out of here. But right away I learned it wasn't gonna be an easy trip. I met a group of kids one day. I thought they'd take my cards, but that's when I learned that your deck is like your soul, and no one would ever steal that. I learned everything I could from those guys, and then I met you and Jack, Yusei," he recalled.

"I remember. We met at Martha's when we were kids," Yusei said as he recalled the day he met Crow. "You weren't just my friends, you were my brothers. Everything had been taken from me, but dueling gave me a new beginning, and I wasn't about to let anyone else face their shadow as their only friend. I learned to fly, and it was up to me to teach others the same," Crow said as he thought about the day he started taking care of other orphaned kids in the Satellite.

"I found kids that were like me, ones that had no family or anywhere to go but the streets of Satellite. I looked out for them, made sure they were safe, and taught them how to duel, and together, we learned the most important lesson: When you've got friends, you're never alone. They were my family Yusei, and as much as you think I saved them, it was them who saved me," he said as he shed a tear thinking about the kids.

"But Crow, why risk everything?" Yusei asked. "Because they took them all away. The Dark Signers attacked us, using that cloud to take everyone's spirits, and what does Greiger do? He goes and joins them! So as far as I'm concerned, he's responsible! And now it's time for him to get what he deserves!" Crow shouted.

"Are you done taking us on this trip down memory lane? Because now it's my turn to take you on a trip to the Netherworld," Greiger declared, getting tired of the distractions. "Stop it! Don't you get it, you're on the same side. You both lost your families and that's why you're dueling. You should be working together to get back what matters most, not tearing each other apart in a shadow duel," Yusei shouted as he turned to Greiger.

"Look, you told us what happened, Greiger. Goodwin's the one you want to make pay for this. You told us he was the one who destroyed your village, so now what? You get your revenge by joining the Dark Signers and taking Goodwin out with the rest of humanity?" Yusei asked.

"That's why I need to win this duel, Yusei. Greiger has to be stopped," Crow pointed out. "Not like this. Crow, this duel is all about revenge, that makes you as bad as him," Yusei argued. "You don't know what you're talking about. This is something that I just have to do," Crow responded stubbornly.

"You don't have to do this, Crow, you want to, and that's the problem! This duel is just you flailing at Greiger in anger!" Yusei shouted. "This is my battle ya got that?! If hate is what it takes to win it, then so be it. And anyway friend, we're talking about a shadow duel, so there's no stopping it," Crow reminded.

Alex pulled up to Yusei and told him to stop trying to talk Crow out of it. "Why should I? Crow's your friend too, don't you care about him?" Yusei asked. "Of course I do, and that's why I say we should let him do this. Besides, if Crow really wants to do this, there's nothing we can do to stop him," Alex responded.

Yusei saw that Alex was right and wished Crow luck. Having settled the matter, Crow turned his attention back to Greiger and shouted three words: Bring it on.
