Sage has suffered more pain and loss than most people would deem fair, but in truth, Sage thought it made her who she was. It made her strong, even though she wished more than anything that her parents and Sirus were among the living with her. But as Sirius once said, the ones we love never truly leave us. She has found such strength in those words. It gave her a reason to get up in the morning. Over the summer, she wasn't going to lie, Sage thought about ending her life, but she would never disgrace her parents and Sirius's sacrifice like that. She would live her life for all of them now.
She has done a lot of thinking over the summer, and Sage decided to step it up, now that Voldemort was gunning for her more than ever before. She spent the whole summer in her room, reading and studying the books from Hogwarts over the years, and has owl ordered a lot more books, thanks to Dobby, she was able to practice her magic without anyone knowing and got a better understanding of spells and potions that she hasn't had the drive to learn. Well, that was going to change. Having a murdering sociopath gunning to kill you would give anyone the drive to live and survive.
Now, she loved Dumbledore like a grandfather, but Sage wasn't blind to his faults. He has failed to train her and her friends, so it was up to them to learn everything they needed to survive the war. So, when she was sent back to her relatives (she says relatives because they were not her family) house for the summer, she wasn't as cut off from the magical world as everyone thought. With the help of Dobby, she has made many trips to Diagon Alley over the course of the summer holidays. Sage loved Dobby, he was like another member of her family, so she made him the Potter family house-elf. But instead of wearing a tea towel, he was wearing little black trousers, a red button-up long-sleeved shirt with the Potter crest, and little black shoes.
Dobby takes such good care of her. He has given her everything she needed, including nutrition, calcium, bone strengthening, teeth straightening potions, and food. Over the past few months, Sage has put on some much-needed muscle, and she grew a few inches, standing at five-foot, six inches. She was now a healthy young woman.
It was just a few moments before her sixteenth birthday, and in the far distance, she saw owls coming towards her with Hedwig in the lead. Sage loved her beautiful familiar. Hedwig was a moon owl, a creature of pure intentions, and one that would never bond with a dark witch or wizard. That's why over the years, Sage couldn't believe that anyone had dared call her a dark witch because of Hedwig's nature. Everyone in the wizarding world knew a moon owl would never be in the company of someone with dark intentions. Anyway, Sage didn't want the owls to wake her relatives, she opened the window, letting them soar into the room. It would never be her bedroom, just as the Dursley home would never be her home.
She relieved the owls of their burdens and gave them treats and water before sending them on their way. The first gifts she opened were from Fred and George. They were a pair of mischievous twins, and the crafty cretins, made her a business partner in their joke shop before she could stop them. More than that though, they had a goblin write up an unbreakable contract giving Sage controlling interest, and a twenty-five percent share of the profits. Those guys were lucky that Sage viewed them as her big brothers, otherwise she would have boxed their ears for doing something so cheeky. Their gift was a large box of their past, current, and future creations for the shop. They were amazing, and would definitely come in handy.
Hermione's gifts were books, four of them in fact. One was a Defence against the dark arts text, while another was a Transfiguration text. Finally, the third was a Medical Potions text and the final and fourth were a Medical Charms text. Sage was surprised she didn't send her some muggle education books because Hermione was the only one that knew that Sage had never given up her muggle education since entering the magical world. She wanted the option of attending a university later on down the line.
The next gifts were from Ron, Ginny, and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley. Ron had given her a framed picture of the DA, and a box of chocolate frogs. The picture frame was made of Mahogany wood with magical creatures engraved on it. Sage loved it. She knew it hadn't been bought, but made. Not many people knew that Ron was talented in wood crafting. He was amazing. The picture meant more to her than anything he would have bought. She could clearly see that he put a lot of thought into it. From Mr. and Mrs. Weasley, Sage got the usual care package, and three framed pictures of Sage with the Weasley family, Sage with Ron and Monie, and last was of Sage with Remus and Sirius. The frames were made of Bamboo, Cherry, and Maple, again with engraved symbols of quidditch, animals, and flowers. They were stunning.
From Ginny, she got a handmade bracelet designed of leather cords braided and intertwined together. Colors in blue, purple, crimson, and jade green with everyone's initials. Sage loved it. It was a beautiful piece, and again, no one knew aside from Ginny's family and close friends that Gin could make such stunning jewelry. She was very talented, and everyone finally managed to convince Ginny to make and sell her jewelry, so she could make some spare money. Merlin knows that Gin and her family deserved everything good in life. They were Sage's family, and she loved them more than anything. Normally, Sage would try to distance herself from them so she would protect them, but she found that she was stronger with them. They made her stronger.
The next gifts were from uncle Remy and Tonks. Sage was proud that Tonks finally managed to convince Remy that he was not a monster and that he deserved to be loved just like everyone else. They had gotten Sage a photo album that had a jade green and silver cover. Sage's favorite colors. The contents were pictures of her parents, along with Sirius and Remus and a brown-haired female. Alice Longbottom, Neville's mother she thought, having remembered seeing the same woman from the picture of the original Order during the previous year. And pictures of the current Order, and of her friends. Sage noticed the pictures were stuck on shiny silver thick parchment, while jade green glitter had been artfully scattered around the edges and corners.
There were three other presents and a letter with Remus's gift. She removed the paper and found a large and round jade green-colored box. She opened the lid, which slid to the side, and discovered several layers of compartments, all full of beautiful and expensive-looking makeup, hair, manicure, and pedicure tools.
She carefully slid aside different compartments until she found seven in total. Blushers and liquid and powder foundations as well as concealers, primers, and base powders and liquids in one compartment, while another was filled with eye shadows in cream, powder, matt, and shimmer format in every color imaginable, some not even found in muggle brands. There was a selection of different colored mascara, with different sized brushes to allow for different lash lengths and volumes. She even found eye pencils, liquid eyeliners, and false eyelashes in another compartment.
She shook her head at the sight of a third compartment filled with brushes and applicators in every shape and size. A fourth compartment had lipsticks, and glosses, with liquid and pencil liners of every color imaginable. A fifth compartment had nail polishes, nail files, buffers, clippers, and other manicure and pedicure tools, along with Acrylic nails in all lengths, sizes, and shapes. A sixth compartment held hair tools, such as a hair-dryer, irons to provide every curl imaginable, along with removable applicators to crimp and straighten hair. The final and seventh compartments held hairbrushes and combs, dividers, and grips in all shapes and sizes.
At the sight of all this, Sage knew magic held the box together, an extension charm for example to make it bigger, deeper, and wider on the inside than the outside led one to believe. Makeup, manicure, pedicure, and hair set for all beauty needs any witch could ever possibly need or even want right at her fingertips.
The other box was the same, although it was a different color, silver, and it was filled with perfumes, moisturizers, bubble baths, luffas, towels, washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoos, conditioners, body washes, razors, shaving creams, bath oils, bath bombs, bath pillows, face cleansers and scrubs, toners and steamers, masks, and lip scrubs and balms.
She opened the last box and found a new outfit. It was a black and silver ombre sequin shirt, a black waterfall jacket, low-rise skinny jeans with black sequin flats, black and white floral and butterfly lace-trimmed Brazilian briefs, and a bra. They were gorgeous the lace felt stunning against her fingertips and the white floral butterfly embroidery pattern went beautifully with the white lace trim. She liked black, but not by much, and she loved the outfit.
Sage was stunned. She was amazed at how much trouble they went through for her. She loved that they cared about and loved her that much to do all of this for her.
I love my family she thought, smiling as she reached for the next gifts. Her hands shook as she saw tags that said they were from Sirius. She knew they were time delayed. Oh, Sirius. I miss you she thought as she opened the first box. It was a red and gold velvet box and was surprised to see a beautiful golden ring, which looked like a males signet and was oval-shaped and had an outline of a Lion engraved in the center, with a letter P in the center of the Lion made up of white diamonds and pure red rubies. The Potter family ring.
In her family, from all the way back to the beginning, if there weren't any blood relations left of the Potter family, then it would go to the last heir on their sixteenth birthday. She put the ring on her finger, and it shrunk to fit her more delicate finger on her right hand. She felt the family magic surround her, and settle inside of her. She picked up a second box that was bigger than the first, and why came apparent as soon as she lifted the lid off the box. The content consisted of a long pure solid white gold chain that had a medium-sized oval-shaped locket. In the center of the locket were her initials S.A.P. made up of tiny pure emerald stones and the purest looking white diamonds and around the edge of the locket decorated with a small Tiger Lily and on the opposite side had a small stag. The actual flower was an outline of emeralds and the stem had diamonds outlining it. As for the stag, diamonds outlined the antlers and emeralds for the eyes.
The first picture she saw was her parents holding onto her as a newborn baby as they beamed happily and waved back at her and from time to time look down lovingly at her baby self before moments later exchanging a glance of deep love with each other before it started over again. The next picture was of Sirius and Remus gazing back at her with her baby self in between them. The last gift from Sirius was a custom-made Firebolt in her favorite colors Jade green, and silver with her initials on the handle, with Star Seeker under her initials with an expensive broomstick polishing and grooming service kit, along with a practice snitch.
The last gifts were total surprises. They were time-delayed gifts from her parents. The first gift was a black velvet box big enough to fit a ring. She opened it to reveal her parent's wedding rings, which were made of pure white gold. Her mother's ring was thinner than her father's own slightly thicker-looking ring. Her mother's ring had an emerald in the center with tiny diamonds surrounding it, and her father had an emerald in the center. They were stunning, and she vowed that they would be the rings she would use when she was married. The second gift was a rectangular-shaped box made of dark polished mahogany wood, large and wide enough to fit a wand inside, wide enough for two to fit in fact. Sage knew what she was going to find when she opened the box, and as she predicted, inside were her parents' wands. She picked them up, and a rush went through her. They felt just like her own. She placed them back into the box and opened the last box. The box must have been held with an undetectable extension charm because inside were two gifts that were so unexpected but by far her favorite. They were portraits of her parents and Sirius, but they would remain frozen until she could place them in her study at Potter Manor.
The next hour was spent reading through everyone's letters and placing them inside of the scrapbook Sage has kept since her first year at Hogwarts, and eating the dinner that Mr. and Mrs. Weasley had sent her, and she packed up her belongings, took a shower, got dressed, before having Dobby take her to Gringotts. It was time she took control of her life.
