A/N: I finally have a computer and can get back to my stories! Yay!
When they arrived at Potter Manor, Sage was amazed at the beauty of her family home. It was stunning. "Wow," she breathed. "Welcome home, Sage," Ron told his best friend. Normally, he would be jealous, but he had come to understand that Sage wanted a family more than anything. She would give up everything she had if it allowed her to have what he had. A family. "Home," she murmured and for the first time since they have known her, everyone saw a sense of peace come over Sage like a blanket. Dumbledore felt guilty that he had denied Sage a true home where she was loved. She will not go back to that house he decided as he remembered what Dobby had stopped. He never wanted Sage to suffer, but suffering is what she has endured her whole life. Although no one could deny that it had shaped her into this powerful young woman with a heart of gold, it didn't change the fact that Sage should never have lived a life of pain.
"The Goblins had told me that it would have taken a week to get everything cleaned and the manor warded, but I guess it wasn't as bad as they thought it would be. Everyone will have a room of their own, except for Trouble One, and Trouble Two," Sage said smirking at their looks of hurt but they could all see they loved the nicknames she gave them. "Will the Order be living here for the remainder of the war?" Molly asked and Dumbledore turned toward Sage as it was her home. "They can live here. But as I said, Snape will not be permitted in my home," she said and Dumbledore knew he wouldn't get her to change her mind. Her mistrust and hate would deepen when she discovered that Severus was one of the key players in her family being murdered all those years ago.
It would confirm everything she ever thought of Severus. It wouldn't matter all that much that he changed sides, all that would matter to Sage is Severus helped get her family murdered and robbed her of the chance to know her mother and father. Although now that Dumbledore thought about it, Severus had only been worried about Lily, after Severus noticed that Dumbledore had become enraged when he didn't seem to care about Sage or James, he quickly changed his tune and asked him to hide all three of the Potters. Dumbledore knew that Sage would call in the life debt in a single heartbeat. She would want him to suffer as she had all of these years without her family. Sage may have found and made her own family, but that did not erase the desire to know her parents.
When Sage walked into the heiress's bedroom, she was stunned when the bedroom magically changed. The walls were freshly painted a striking, dusty royal purple, and the doors and trim were painted the darkest jade green. One wall was made entirely of glass, providing a magnificent view of the surrounding forest and garden. There were bookshelves all along one wall, filled with all types of literature-modern, classic, historical, and even architectural. Sage's books would soon be joining and adding to the collection. Along another wall were three doors-one led into the walk-in closet, another led to the large bathroom, and the last led into a sitting room that was designed in creams and browns. And along the last wall, was an inbuilt entertainment center, with movies and music of every type, and under the entertainment center, was a fireplace. There was a desk made from oak with a matching plush chair, with candles so she would have a place to do her homework. Sage was willing to bet that her mother helped modernized the manor considering electricity did not work around magic.
Sage's bed was a California King, with a bronze iron frame, and the bedside tables were bronze stained oak, with bronze iron table lamps, with a lighter shade of jade green lamp shades. The victorian vanity was also designed in the same bronze iron as her bed. Lastly, the floor was, oak hardwood, with a royal purple plush carpet under the bed to prevent scratching, and in the far corner of the room, was a guitar stand for Sage's guitar and a piano. Not many people knew Sage could play music. This is beautiful, she thought to herself. She was brought out of her thoughts when she saw that Dobby had unpacked everything, and she noticed her closet expanded with the amount of clothing she had purchased.
"Thank you, Dobby," she said as she left the room knowing he could hear her. As she thought about the little elf, she couldn't help but wonder if there were any other Potter elves, and just as she thought that, ten little elves popped into the room. Sage spent the next ten minutes explaining which jobs were available for them and changing their tea towels into little uniforms like the one Dobby now wore. Though, instead of trousers for the females, they wore little dresses with blazers and mary-jane shoes. They looked adorable.
"Hermione better not say a word," she muttered. Sage knew if Hermione kept going on about freeing the House Elves, then they would all die without being bonded to a master or a family. Elves survived and thrived on the magic from their families, and without it, they'd go insane and die. Sage's elves were members of her family and would be treated as such. They made sure she was taken care of, so Sage would take care of and love them as she would her own family. The biggest rule they had to follow was they couldn't punish themselves, and they weren't allowed to work on their days off or holidays. They were also not allowed to clean the chosen bedrooms for her friends or the Order. They were old enough that they could look after their own bedrooms and bathrooms.
After lying down the rules for her house elves, Sage made her way down to the dining room where she heard everyone gathering and she wasn't surprised that Hermione was ranting when she saw Dobby and Winky.
"Hermione! Enough! I love you like a sister but if you're going to rant about Dobby and Winky, you need to do research on house elves! They will die without the magic of a family!" Sage exclaimed losing her temper when Hermione tried to get her to free them. Everyone was stunned when Sage lost her temper as she never loses her cool with her friends. Bill couldn't help but stare in awe at this beautiful girl. He thought it was about time she lost her temper as bottling everything inside wasn't healthy.
"I didn't know," Hermione whispered sadly at the thought of her causing millions of magical creatures to die out because she failed to research everything before making a decision to free house elves. She smiled when Sage hugged her. "Hermione. I agree that things need to be better for house elves, so after we graduate, how would you like to work for the rights of magical creatures? You will be amazing at it, and I will help. Even if it means using my name and fame to get it done. I don't like using anything to make it easier for myself, but I would gladly do so for those that cannot fight for themselves," Sage offered smiling as everyone looked at the two brave young women whom they all knew would do great things together.
She's amazing, Bill thought as he gazed at this beautiful and kind woman.
"That sounds like something I would love to do with you, sis," Hermione said as she hugged her best friend as the other girls joined them. "How did you bond with Dobby?" Luna asked smiling as Dobby latched onto Sage's legs as Luna looked down at him. Sage smirked looking down at her mischievous little house elf. "This little guy has been bonded with me since the end of our second year and he didn't tell me until I called for him this summer. I swear his name should have been Mischief," Sage said as she knelt down and hugged her little friend as everyone laughed. They weren't surprised because they knew Dobby loved Sage more than anything.
They spent the rest of the summer finishing their homework and roaming the grounds of Potter Manor. The forest was perfect for Moony, and Sage offered him the cottage on the grounds next to the forest for the days leading up to the full moon, and the days after so he'd have time to recover without everyone being around looking at him with pity. Sage was the only one that didn't feel pity because she thought her uncle Moony could handle anything, plus, she had a surprise for him at Christmas. Well, from her mother but she died before she could give it to him so Sage would finish what her mother did for her dear uncle. It was time that man stopped suffering from what he couldn't control.
