After thanking Weiss for her amazing, if not slightly illegal, present, Ruby had followed her instructions on the next stop of her mystery hunt. She didn't know who, but since Weiss had told her to go to the library in front of the school she had a pretty good idea.

It was Blake, since that was where she spent most of her time. She'd even allowed Ruby to come along with her sometimes, and they'd sit in companionable silence as Ruby read her comics, Blake read her books and both enjoyed a few minutes of peace away from their over the top partners and the general hecticness that was life at Beacon. She was giddy with glee as she neared said library, even the turned off lights gave it a creepy atmosphere, wondering just what it was her friend had gotten.

'Comics? Weapons magazine? Weapons?!' Ruby squealed in her mind's eye, practically skipping as she barely resisted the urge to use her Semblance to get to the library quicker. Even if it was technically closed, she knew better than to make a mess and anger Beacon's library.

"Hello~" Ruby called out, skidding to a halt in front of the bronze statue of a Huntsman and Huntress in the foyer in front of the librarian's desk. "Come out, come out wherever you are!"

"There's no need for that Ruby." A voice said, extremely feminine and incredibly close to her ear, making her shriek at how close it was.

"B-Blake?!" Ruby exclaimed, hand on her chest and feeling her pounding heartbeat. "W-What the heck!"

"Hello to you too Ruby." Blake grinned, amber eyes glinting in the dark as she smiled clearly, though her face was partially hidden by the ninja mask she was wearing. As for the rest of her however…

Lets just say she showed off just as much, if not more, than Yang, even if it was shrouded in the gloom of the library, the only light being Remnant's broken moon shining in from a big domed window in the ceiling. Ruby could appreciate the dedication to her Ninja of Love cosplay though, even if part of her felt the mysterious quality Blake had fade on account she was seeing a lot more of her admittedly toned, beautiful body than Ruby wanted to see.

"I…Uhh…Hi Blake." Ruby said, swallowing, before lifting her eyes to stare into her friend's amused ones. "I take it you're giving me my next gift?"

"Of course." Blake said, holding out two wrapped, rectangular shaped gifts. Ruby appreciated the strawberry themed wrapping for all of half a second before she promptly tore it off, staring at her two gifts.

Both were books. One had a picture of the Four Kingdoms on it, and was quite hefty. The other looked like an autobiography of some sort, and Ruby cocked her head as she flipped them over to study the blurbs.

"I know you probably don't like the Atlas." Blake said, and Ruby gave her a curious look. "The one with the maps inside. It isn't very exciting, but you are the leader of one of the best teams in Beacon, meaning we're probably going to be taking names and kicking ass before long. You'll need to know where we're being deployed."

Ruby nodded, appreciating the logic and the gift even if she felt it was sort of akin to being given something like a homework book to help with studying. She still liked it though, and as she flicked through she felt an odd sort of pleasure at seeing all the different pictures and maps. Some showed weird heat looking things, whilst others showed elevations and rivers and lakes.

"Thanks Blake." Ruby grinned, seeing her friend relax slightly. She immediately felt a little guilty, knowing her friend had at least put the effort in and was determined to show some more appreciation for it. "What's this one about? It looks like one of those autobiography things you see famous people and politicians write."

"It's the memoirs of a Huntress." Blake said, smiling as Ruby perked up and her eyes brightened as she held it closely. "She needed help writing it on account of an old injury that took her sight. Her name is unknown, only her moniker. Ever heard of the Grimm Reaper?"

"I thought that was a myth!" Ruby exclaimed breathlessly, flipping open the first page and glancing at the foreword. It seemed genuine enough.

"Well it looks like she isn't." Blake continued. "You're shaping up to be a great Huntress Ruby, but even the best can make mistakes. I hope this book can teach you a few of those before you end up making them yourself and learn the hard way."

"Thank you so much Blake!" Ruby exclaimed, grinning at her friend and pulling her into a surprise hug that made the older girl freeze. "These are great!"

"I-I'm glad you like them." Blake replied, hugging her back and gradually relaxing. "Though you should get going unless you want to miss out on your other presents. It's starting to get pretty late."

"Fiddlesticks!" Ruby cursed, glancing at the big clock over the doors. It wasn't long until curfew. "Where do I need to go next?"

"Do you want the honest answer or the elaborate riddle she gave me to say." Blake responded, and Ruby glanced back at the clock before shrugging.

"Honesty's the best policy." She said, and Blake snorted.

"Right. Yang's at the training room. Fair warning though, I think she wants to spar first."

"That's first." Ruby replied, before pausing and nervously handing Blake the books she just been given. "I really like them but can you take them back to our dorm please? I don't want them to get caught in the crossfire of whatever madness Yang will inevitably cause."

"That's more than fine." Blake said, rolling her eyes in commiseration with Yang's inevitable shenanigans. "Good luck."

"Thanks." Ruby sighed. "I'm probably going to need it."

Omake:

"Hello~" Ruby called out into the darkness. "Who's out there~?"

"Hello Ruby." Someone purred, and Ruby froze as she felt something stand behind her. Warm skin brushed against her back, and even warmer breath washed against her neck. It smelled minty, with a faint whiff of tuna. "Happy birthday leader. Ready for your present?"

Ruby swallowed as she heard jingling metal before something soft but unbreakable wrapped around her wrists.

"I think I need an adult." Ruby whimpered, and a soft laugh echoed around the room.

"I am an adult." Her assailant purred, and Ruby shivered as something wet made its way up from her sensitive neck up to the shell of her ear. "Let's see what it'll take to make this kitten purr."

Yang frowned and stared at the time on her scroll. She sighed and stood up, resolved to find out what the hell was taking so long, when Ruby burst into the room with a sweaty, flushed face and a dopey grin on her face.

"Ruby?" Yang asked, blinking at her sister's dishevelled state. "Have you ran a marathon or something?"

"Something…" Ruby mumbled, sitting down next to her elder sister and eyes drooping as her head fell on her shoulder. "Best birthday ever…"

And then she was snoring. Yang stared for a few minutes before shrugging and picking her sister up in her arms, the younger girl not barely stopping her snoring as she did so.

'Damn, Ruby was really tuckered out.' Yang thought, remembering the order of gift giving. 'I wonder what Blake gave her.'
