A/N: I have no idea how it happened, but for a brief moment, I was on a roll. Two updates in a day! You have no idea how happy I am right now. Please tell me what you think, and what level of smut you want in the next chapter, because it's going to be pretty heavy unless the outcry is enough to change my mind.
Chapter 5
Once Bella got back, looking impossibly sexier to the point Maggie gaped at her for a full minute. Bella sat down on the bed again, as far away from Maggie as she could get, trying hard not to blush at being the clear focus of Maggie's attention.
"By the gods woman, it's a good thing I ain't alive, cause your beauty would've just stopped my heart," Maggie mumbled without a thought. Of course that made Bella blush harder, which only made her even sexier, especially when the human bit her lower lip. The cute way she shoved Maggie in an attempt to try and hide her embarrassment only made Maggie's lovesick grin widen, and might or might not have made Maggie's pants a little uncomfortable to sit in with the sudden wetness that came from her core.
"So, um...why are you here, Maggie?" Bella mumbled, trying hard not to look into Maggie's eyes.
"Turns out I'm here for you," Maggie purred. Unabashedly, she crawled closer to Bella on all fours, eating up the distance between them. Bella's heart stuttered, eyes widening as she saw the beyond sexy vampire stalking her. She quickly looked away, trying to hide how much Maggie's pursuit was affecting her. Even if Maggie somehow hadn't heard the way her heart skipped a few beats, the way she blushed an even darker shade of red up to the tips of her ears would've spoken volumes.
"Okay, little casanova, no need to flatter me," Bella said with a roll of her eyes. By the gods, even the way Maggie's mate tried to play off how flustered she was made Maggie want to jump her.
"It's not flattery, gorgeous. This is all honesty. I just hadn't known it yet till I got here." A little, tiny, eensy weensy part of Maggie's brain worried about pushing Bella too far, but the rest of her was just too focused on her mate. On every twitch and change in her scent. The need to claim was riding her hard, much like Maggie wanted to ride her mate, but she wouldn't go that far. She would, however, touch her mate, or potentially go insane. If her mate weren't so goddamned fuckable, Maggie might have been able to control herself, but obviously that wasn't the case here.
"Maggie, wait, I'll get you wet," Bella mumbled, as that was the only excuse she could think up as to why it wasn't okay for Maggie to wrap her arms around the brunette and bury her face in Bella's neck.
"No worries love, I'm already soaked."
"Oh my god." Bella realized too late that despite how low her voice was, barely a whisper, Maggie had definitely heard her. But how was Bella supposed to expect the sudden sex voice that Maggie had weaponized to use against her?
God won't be who you'll be screaming to when I get my hands on that body of yours, Maggie managed to think and not say, but damn did it take a lot of willpower. C'mon Maggie, baby steps. Don't want to pressure her, just...let her know of your interest.
"Maggie!" Bella squeaked, her arousal skyrocketing as she felt Maggie's tongue run along her neck.
"Aw, shite. My bad, I didn't mean to do that." Maggie backed up sheepishly, putting some space between them after her mistake even as Bella's taste, the taste of her mate, exploded on her tongue. The urge to bite and turn and fuck, not even in that order, was damn neaer overwhelming it almost made the vampire shake, especially when she sniffed just how worked up her mate was getting.
"Do you need to feed?" Bella asked nervously when she noticed how black Maggie's eyes were, but that nervousness didn't come from a place of fear. The knowledge of where those nerves were coming from only served to make Bella guilty. She knew she was still supposed to be grieving Edward, to be missing all of the Cullens really, but since the little force of nature had barreled into her home and her life, Bella hadn't thought about them until that moment. Had completely forgotten that Edward even existed, let alone was supposed to be the love of her life. In fact, Bella had been so taken up by Maggie that it took a constant reminder in the showers that Maggie would be able to hear her if she did anything that stopped Bella from masturbating to the girl in the shower.
Now, it took everything she had not to pull Maggie right back to her and urge Maggie to continue. The only thing that stopped Bella was the knowledge of Maggie's bloodlust making Maggie uncomfortable.
"Trust me on this one Bella," Maggie said as she closed her eyes, taking a deep, unnecessary breath. "I'm thirsty as hell, but it ain't for blood."
Bella swallowed hard, Maggie heard it, but for her sanity she chose to pretend she hadn't heard it. And she definitely didn't hear Bella mumbling, "Focus Bella, focus," desperately under her breath, as if she needed a reminder not to jump Maggie as much as Maggie needed a reminder not to jump her.
"Seriously Maggie, why are you here?" Bella managed to ask as she pointedly didn't attempt to memorize every inch of Maggie's body. Why was it only getting harder and harder not to look at the vampire?
"You," Maggie said simply. Bella started to protest, but stopped herself by simply looking at Maggie and seeing how intenself Maggie was looking at her. "As I said, I'm friends of the Cullens."
Thank the gods that Bella didn't burst into tears this time. The girl didn't even tear up, and it made Maggie let out a breath of relief. Only to realize that while her mate had to be the reason they left town, she wasn't quite sure if the girl knew about vampires existing. Maggie couldn't lie for shit, it wasn't in her, but she could twist the truth. While the idea of twisting said truth to her own mate left a bad taste in her mouth, she didn't exactly know if Bella would take it well if Maggie just outright asked the human if she knew if the Cullens were vampires or not. Even in Maggie's excitement she had the decency to realize that much.
"I came to town to see them, and they aren't here. Just wanted to figure out why, ya know?" Maggie looked at Bella, couldn't even bother trying to hide how her eyes roamed over the brunette's figure. "Hate to break it to ya, but you…"
"Have everything to do with it," Bella sighed, finishing Maggie's words for her. "Do you want me to tell you what happened?"
Maggie nodded. Despite how serious she tried to be, she couldn't help but smile. Her mate already knew what she was going to say, how sexy was that? "If you can, that'd be fucking amazeballs," Maggie said with an eager nod. Mainly cause then I'd be able to get right to the real fucking once the work shite cleared up.
"Yeah, of course." Bella knew she probably shouldn't be telling a red eyed vampire everything that happened, but she already couldn't imagine denying the excitable vampire anything. "Is a summary alright? I really don't want to go through all of the details."
"Of course gorgeous, whatever's best for you."
"Okay, it all started when I moved here." Bella looked down at her hands, knowing looking at Maggie would only further scramble her thoughts. She felt more than heard the bed move, and when she looked up, Maggie had leaned towards her, and it made Bella forget to breathe for a moment. "I...um." Oh great, having those intense red eyes trained on her, having Maggie's face so close, it was scrambling Bella's thoughts. "I learned they were vampires."
Well, that was one question of Maggie's answered.
"Edward and I are mates…" Shit, Bella had meant to say that Edward had told her they were mates. Before Bella could revise and clarify, Maggie was letting out a furious snarl that nearly shook the house. Before Bella could blink, Maggie was on top of her, straddling her waist, shoving her onto her back. Never before had someone looked so furious, so dangerous, yet so sexy all at once.
"No. No! Not his," Maggie growled, shaking with the force of her emotions. With the need to claim and destroy Edward and fuck and turn the human. How dare he? How DARE he? With Maggie's mate? "You...Bella…"
"Maggie?" Worried for the vampire, Bella reached up to touch Maggie's face, but something glinted in the light. Something Maggie somehow hadn't noticed before.
Snatching Bella's wrist out of the air, she stared at the back of Bella's hand in disbelief. Two overlapping bite marks. Somehow, Bella had been bitten twice, yet hadn't turned, but in that moment, none of that mattered. What mattered was that in Maggie's mind, this was a claim. A claim on her mate.
"Mine!" Maggie hissed. Fury and need overwhelming her, she pinned Bella to the bed and began staking her claim.
