"I can't," Severus Snape responded tossing the letter Dumbledore handed him back onto his desk.
"Severus-"
"I can't be around Black, as he tells stories of his romance to her family, as they all laugh and bond over her as if she's a distant memory.
"If I didn't know any better I'd say you were jealous Severus," Dumbledore responded calmly, as he observed Severus with a smile tugging at the corner of his thin lips.
"I watched her here for years, I realized who she was as soon as she was taken into that chamber," Severus ranted.
"I recall you telling me," Dumbledore agreed.
"To see her fawn over Potter, although I suppose if anyone would be good enough for Lily's son it would be her," Severus added to himself in an afterthought.
"Yet I recall you demanding I send Potter to detention as soon as you heard word of her affections for him," Dumbledore chuckled.
"He may be he Lily's son, but he was more like James."
"I see, so the reason you won't deliver Ginevra's next letter?" Dumbledore asked.
"Because I went there this morning, and they were laughing about porridge," Severus responded surprising Dumbledore.
"Porridge?" Dumbledore asked taken aback.
"She liked brown sugar on hers," Severus responded looking embarrassed.
"I see, and this bothers you?" Dumbledore asked, his icy blue eyes directly meeting his as if he already knew the answer.
"Because I didn't know, she was my best friend, and I didn't know."
"Severus-"
"They all could relate, his Ginny and their Ginny, they were the same," Severus continued, as he began pacing.
"You're upset that the Ginevra you knew isn't the same girl that her family knows?" Dumbledore inquired, holding his hands neatly on top of his desk.
"She was never really a Weasley," Severus said, his face scrunching up at the use of her surname.
"But she was, it made her who she was," Dumbledore responded.
Severus opened his mouth to reply, but he was interrupted by a knock on Dumbledore's door.
"Ahh, that would be Mr. Potter," Dumbledore said casually as if they were all meeting up for tea.
Severus turned, his robes blowing behind him as he walked towards the door, tugging it open, as he made to shove past a very flustered Harry Potter.
"Who was she then?" Dumbledore called to him, just before he started his descent down the steps.
"I guess I no one really knows," Severus said, sadly, his expression blank, before he turned on his heels and descended the stairs.
