Chapter 2

Josie sighed heavily as she followed her cousin Nicole to the apartment above the garage. Becks was behind them talking to her other cousins Shane and Chris. Both flirting hard with her best friend. And judging by the look on Nicole's face, she agreed with her that their flirting was gross.

"Alright you creeps let us get sorted." Nicole snarked with a wrinkled nose.

"Ahh, sis, just having some fun. We'll leave you be. We've got to pack." Chris said.

"Pack?" Josie asked.

"Yeah, it's a convention and contest we're hitting The Maverick's Challenge in North Cali." Shane stated.

"Sick." Becks said as she shouldered past to get into the apartment.

"We'll see you when you leave. Julliard will be here shortly before you leave." Nicole said and shooed them away.

With a roll of her eyes, she shut the door and headed over to help them get their stuff settled. She was just as confused as her siblings and cousin as to why they were staying the summer in Luna Bay. Her parents had called, and they sounded shaken and panicky when they informed them that Josie and Becks would be staying with them for the summer. No one explained why exactly. Now it was time for her to grill her little cousin.

"Jos? What happened for Uncle Sam to suddenly drop you off in such a hurry? Mom and Dad were freaked!" Nicole informed her.

"I'm still pretty confused about it all myself." Josie answered, "I.. I think it has to do with when they were all kids themselves. I found an old journal. I read a few passages and I think it was Aunt Star's from when she was a teen."

"Mom's?" Nicole asked and Josie pulled an old diary from her bag.

Josie handed the old book over and Nicole started reading. Becks sat beside her. She hadn't been told about this yet. She needed to catch up a bit and with what had happened on the journey up here, she needed some background information. Josie only told her she'd be able to say something when her dad and uncles dropped them off here with her cousins. Josie put her things away as they read the book. It wasn't too long before Nicole stopped.

"How are you sure this is mom's?" she asked Josie.

"These." Josie held up Marko's sketches and there on top was a sketch of a young Star.

"Mom?" Nicole asked.

"Yeah. It was with the stuff Dad and Uncle Ed brought back from Hudson's Bluff. Here, there's even one of Uncle Mike and my dad." Josie stated.

The three girls looked over all the drawings. This was crazy to them all but what could they say. Nicole wanted to desperately ask her mom. She had her mother were always so very close and she had never shared much about her past. She'd always say that she had been an abused runaway that met her father shortly after he and their family had moved to Santa Carla. It was love at first sight. She had always made it seem that her father had saved her, but she had never revealed what he had saved her from. But the journal did state what it had been. Vampires and it was so hard for Nicole to believe but her gut was telling her that it was very real and that asking her parents was not going to get her anywhere. Nicole looked through the drawings. There was several, all done by the same person, Marko. Her mother's and father's faces were amongst the illustrations. It hurt that her mother had never told her any of this.

"Nic?" Josie said.

"I just don't understand. This is mom and dad. They never told us any of this." she softly said.

"Yeah, dad never told me this either." Josie confided in her.

"Well, I don't know what either of you are talking about, but I do know this dude is hot as fuck." Becks said holding up a drawing of a dude with wild hair and a tux jacket, it was labelled Paul.

"Yeah, he is pretty cute." Nicole said with a grin.

They shared a laugh and continued to sort through the old sketches. They flipped through them and in Josie's hand was a portrait that made her freeze. It was David. But not exactly how he looked when she had encountered him in the Jeep. It seemed older. The paper that it was sketched on was around the same age as the rest of the art, but the content was older. David's hair was cut different, it was darker and had curls. He was not dressed in the trench coat and leather she knew him to wear. He had a literal suit of armor on. She wasn't too versed in history, but it looked medieval to her. Was he older than she thought? Well, then again, if he was a vampire there was no telling how old he truly was.

"What do you think?" Nicole said holding up a sketch of a man with dark long tresses and no shirt under a jacket.

"Not bad." Josie said with a smile.

"What do you have there?" Becks asked pointing at the one in her hand.

Josie flipped it over and Nicole gave her a smirk and Becks gave a light whistle. He was a handsome man. Well vampire. They continued to have girl gab. Chris and Shane popped in long enough to say they were heading out for their trip and then were gone. They hopped down to the kitchen to eat and watched movies in the living room. Falling asleep before the movie was even over. They slept peacefully never knowing that David had repossessed Becks body and had taken a look around to find out where Sam was attempting to hide his little treasure away. Luna Bay wasn't too far from where he was staying. He was on his way and Sam and those Frog Brothers would never be able to stop him. He would have his brothers back and finding Josie was just an addition to his happiness.
