Gloria would be in her late sixties. She was bold with Klaus and that boosted Caroline's will to approach her for some help. But she wasn't sure if the old lady was loyal to the Hybrid.

"I see, you've made a new minion." The old witch eyed Caroline. "Though she doesn't seem fit."

Klaus kept his voice light and callous. "Oh, she's just a plaything I collected on my way."

Plaything?

Caroline didn't bother to glare at him because she knew how pathetic Klaus was. He couldn't even claim their bond publicly. Extremely secretive and would fear that someone might use it against him.

Sick, he made her feel so.

"What's important is what we are doing here?" Klaus diverted quickly.

"Exactly." Gloria places her purse on the table next to her and snorted. "Why did you remember me all of sudden?"

"Stefan, why don't you get me a glass of drink?" The Hybrid ushered the Ripper to the bar and went back to Gloria.

Klaus was unable to make more of him, and the little chit-chat they had last night boosted his will power to persuade the reason for his failure.

Oh, excellent.

"Bring that necklace to me," Gloria concluded, looking back at Caroline. "It can give us the answers to your problem."

"What is this?" An astonished Stefan plucked a photograph on the board.

Caroline was curious to see what brought expression to the Ripper's face. It was a picture of him and Klaus, an old one.

Stefan was clueless, looking at the Original expecting any sort of response from him. The feline smile on Klaus' face made her want to roll eyes.

Klaus knew him before. Years back, almost a century ago Stefan unleashed his monster upon humans. The Hybrid's eyes glinted with amusement, pride as he spoke about the Ripper's methods of entertainment.

No wonder why they had become friends quickly.

Caroline opposed when they were about to leave for something that Gloria needed. "I will stay here until you come."

Surprisingly Klaus didn't force her, but it didn't mean he trusted her fully. He left two vampires to guard her.

"What is it you want?" Gloria asked with an impatient huff. Caroline didn't open her mouth because of the guards, but the witch figured out something was wrong. "I may not be an immortal, but I'm old, girl. I can sense intentions." The human wasn't sure of her response. She followed Gloria into one of the chambers behind the club, leaving the two vampires in the main area. Closing the door, Gloria reached for some ingredients stored on shelves. "This room has invisible walls; no sound goes out. You can speak now."

"Klaus bound me to him," Caroline announced earning a chuckle. Perplexed at first, she frowned and then anger shot in her veins. "Of course, you can't believe it."

"I believe." She replied in a serious tone. "Klaus might have lied to my face, but I can feel the connection between you both."

"I want to break it."

The witch stared impassively. "He did force you," Caroline confirmed through a nod. "Interesting." What made the witch intrigued she didn't understand. "Thousand-year-old impulsive vampire with trust issues has bound himself to a simple human?" She purred.

"I was linked to him." Caroline corrected.

"It doesn't matter." Gloria snorted. "Once linked, linked forever."

This must be a joke. Optimism in her began to demolish piece by piece. "There is a possibility to undo it?"

"The same witch must undo the spell."

Caroline adjusted her glasses. "She can't." Gloria raised a brow. "Klaus killed her." The witch only sighed. "Can you not undo or break this bond?"

The old witch smiled, as her dark eyes twinkled listening to Caroline's hopeful words. "Only the same witch undo own spell because they will know the loopholes. Others can break it. However, life binding spells are not my cup of tea." She rejected it smoothly. Disappointment filled Caroline's chest soon after that. "But I know a couple of people who are good with it."

Once again a pair of sea-blue eyes gleamed, this time brighter than ever with so much hope.

"I need to contact them, but first tell me—if you are free of this bond, can you handle Klaus?"

Her heart was no longer beating normally at the mention of his name. Images of his beast flashed in her head. A human in front of the thousand-year-old hybrid's wrath?

Caroline didn't have an answer to her question, except for the blind obsession that she was carrying—to get away from him.

She had to get away from him.

But she wasn't sure why part of her didn't like the idea of separation?

"I had to get away." That's it, she made up her mind.

Gloria's mouth was bent into an amused smile. Nodding at her slowly, she cooed. "Let me see what I can do for you."

Klaus eyed the Ripper curiously.

Of course, Stefan wasn't convinced listening to the Hybrid's version of their past. Klaus wouldn't blame him, however, he did enjoy the astonished expression on the younger vampire's face.

As soon as he removed the dagger from his sister, Rebekah, Klaus instructed the human guards to offer themselves and led Stefan back to Gloria's place.

People started visiting the bar, but the number was low. Klaus gazed around for his favorite face which was nowhere to be found. Caroline was close, he felt it, though he couldn't exactly point her presence.

More than a thousand years old, yet he was mesmerized by how the binding spell was working between them. She could feel his emotions, he would sense her presence without using his abilities. Ah, yes, the bond could turn out as boon and curse.

Klaus sighed in content, feeling peaceful when he felt Caroline beside him.

"How's your day been?" She asked quietly, and it surprised him.

"The worst is yet to begin." He said rubbing his temples. He had to deal with his little sister's tantrums before he could go further.

Caroline didn't comment on that, but she said. "When can I get to leave this city?"

He turned to her, passing his glass of alcohol. "Something bothers you." He noticed her struggle about something. She twisted her lips and nodded head as no. But then he couldn't buy it. Taking the glass from his hand, she drank from it in peace. "Gloria has to find out the reason behind my failure. It could take some time, then we can leave."

"Then where to?"

"I have got leads to packs around Arizona. That's going to be our next stop probably." He saw her finishing off the drink. "You're calm."

She was thinking a lot, at a time. He didn't know what, he couldn't tell what she was feeling.

"There any problem?" She frowned, perplexed.

Through narrowed eyes, he glowered at her. "All I can smell is your attempts to create layers from me."

His suspicions were proved to be true when she became rigid for a second. She faked it with her denial. "You have a good imagination, Klaus."

He had enough tensions, now if Caroline planned anything…

"I don't like being lied to, Caroline," Klaus stressed on it, another trial. His voice displayed familiar emotion to both of them, coldness.

Caroline's stare was blank, even though her heart was thumping inside her chest. She was getting good at masking, but Klaus was old, experienced.

"There's nothing to lie about." She returned his coldness before she was on her feet.

Klaus was angry then, "You thought…"

"I thought nothing," she cut him off quietly as she turned to leave, but he grasped her elbow.

"What's bothering you?" he asked with utmost softness. As if he truly cared. "Share it with me, please."

Caroline blinked at him, perplexed totally. Klaus was enough surprised as well, by his tone. This wasn't him, this wasn't him at all. Something was wrong with his behavior, too, and he couldn't help it. He had to be cruel to everyone and Caroline was no exception.

But, wasn't she different from others that he bound her with him?

She opened her mouth and shut herself quickly.

"I need some air." She announced before running out of that place.

All these fluctuations about them were suffocating. He was feeling her and she was feeling him. Wouldn't it stop, once for all? Gloria made it clear that she knew a witch who could break the bond, and she wasn't going to participate in any plans against the Hybrid. At this moment, Caroline had to find a way to distract Klaus. If she had to run away, she must make it without leaving tracks so that he couldn't come whiffing after her.

And then he would be upset.

What did she care about him? She contradicted with self.

Rubbing her temples, Caroline watched around the place and found Stefan talking to someone—a brunette. Caroline thought not to give damn about it until she noticed the Ripper was being secretive. He was nervous as he looked around, and met her impassive eyes.

He became rigid after that.

Of course.

Something she could make use of.

"How long would it take?"

"Can't wait to kick me out of your place, Gloria?"

"I have errands to run, Klaus." The witch replied. Klaus was quiet, minding his own business when she asked about something he didn't want to hear. "The girl, Caroline."

"What about her?" he feigned disinterest.

Gloria was choosing words carefully, he figured out when she said. "Looks like she isn't your type."

"Then easy to get rid of."

He looked at his acquaintance, who didn't seem convinced. Usually, he would be at lying, but the witch, the old witch, was wise and sly. "Don't bluff me, Klaus." Klaus gritted his teeth. "I can see through it." When he chose not to respond to that, Gloria poke him again. "Someone who brags about solitude is strength..."

"I'm in the mood, Gloria." Klaus cut her off.

The old witch was calm for a moment. "The girl didn't warm up to you. How you are taking it?"

"She'll learn to get used to me, just like I'm trying to fit in this."

It wasn't easy for him as well; He had been rogue for centuries, and a human girl entered in his life making him upside down.

"You'll ruin her in the end." She declared and left with a snort.

Klaus clenched his fists on the table. Ruining her wasn't on his mind. All he desired was to be with her. Yes, he chose her. Yes, she resisted. But she was too good to let go.

By the time Caroline returned, Klaus exhaled.

After clearing her throat, she mumbled. "So, we were talking about your tour map."

"I'm going wherever I need to go, and you will accompany me. End of discussion."

Her silence had him glance at her. One corner of her mouth quirked up as if…

"Sure. Let's talk about something else then."

This was a first. Klaus hid his surprise and suspicions with disinterest. "About what?" he asked in a low voice.

He thought she never paid attention to him. But then a couple of seconds later, she said. "It came to my notice that you have a sister."

He smirked at her tone. "You are surprised."

"Imagined a female version of you." She replied, making him laugh. "Both of you must have raised hell in all these years."

Klaus signaled at her to follow him out. On the way, he shared bits and pieces of his family.

"What about yours?" he showed interest all of sudden.

Caroline's frame was tense. "My family?" When he nodded, she murmured. "My mom is dead, and dad is living in California with his boyfriend. We meet for holidays, have fun." Something was wrong with her. Klaus couldn't exactly put his finger on that. She was acting differently. Right at the entrance of the bar, she impeded him. "Can we get back to the hotel?"

He had no problem with that, but why.

As soon they got into the car, Caroline touched his hand and leaned into him. Klaus was surprised to find her lips moving against his. At first, he thought it was only kissing. When she was tugging at the hem of his shirt, he figured out she wanted more than that.

"Easy there, love." He forced himself to stop her. "I would love to volunteer, but here?"

Caroline could barely let go of his lips. It was tormenting him. He felt like taking her then and there with all her emotions clouding his sanity. She whimpered when his fingers made circular patterns against the skin of her breast.

"It must wait." He put a damper on her actions, and finally concluded to take her to the hotel room.

If she was in need, then he would have to fulfill it nicely.

Caroline behaved like there wasn't going be another chance with him. She turned into sex kitten once they got inside the room, while they never made it to the bed.

An astonished Klaus was too busy to contemplate her motives. She wanted it all, she gave it all.

He tweaked her nipple while sinking fangs into another breast. Her nails were on his back and the second one was slapping the floor beneath, as he pounded relentlessly. Her specs were tangled in her curls.

Once they both hit the climax, Klaus lifted her and placed on the bed. Caroline was lazily nipping his neck when he discarded the rest of her clothes. Hungrily he watched her as he was about to take more.

As much Damon loved using distraction in the plan, had he ever thought of being one. He was informed the Hybrid would be here anytime now.

The raven-haired vampire waited for long. It was dark when he found whom he was looking for.

Klaus walked into the bar with a bright mood. Damon intended to alter it. The older male ordered himself one drink and sat alone.

In about a minute Klaus made an annoying sound. "Like a dog on the scent."

Judging by the tone, Damon assumed he was going to have fun. "Remind me who's the mutt again."

"Came to counsel your little brother and take him with you?" He asked without turning to the younger male. Even though Klaus half smiled, anger radiated from him.

"What do you say for my proposition?" He began, coming up with more words to waste the Hybrid's time. Klaus tried his best to suppress his annoyance. "I say you let my little brother go and take me under your wing. I bet I don't disappoint."

"Hate to break it your delusional self, but I'm already feeling sorry to initiate this conversation in the first place, Damon. Get lost before I start feeding your eyeballs to you."

Damon just hated how he was being dismissed at every turn. He was good at provoking people, starting fights, right?

"Aw, now you'll miss the fun brother."

"All right, that's enough discussion I've had tonight." Klaus slapped his hands, silencing Damon. "I will call your brother to kick you out," he growled.

Uh-oh, did it backfire?

Start the fight.

"Maybe I should convince it in my way." He suggested.

In the next second, he was thrown at the tables nearby. Taking one of the broken pieces he lunged at Klaus. The punches he threw at Klaus was satisfying.

Klaus lost it all at once. He tore one of the limbs of the stool and strode. "You worked until my last nerve. But you know what? I'm going to watch Stefan torturing and bleeding you to death."

Wiping a drop of blood from the corner of his mouth, Damon replied smirked. "Or maybe he is just too busy doing things."

Yeah, the time Stefan asked for—it was over.

At that point, the Hybrid paused. He squinted at Damon who had smug look in his eyes. He wasn't sure what it was, but Klaus doubted the brothers were up to something.

He continued at Damon and was about to stab him with a wooden stake, but he was pushed off.

And the dance went on until Gloria entered and broke them apart.

"You two better take it out." She warned them in a very pissed off tone.

Klaus knew something was up. Raising his index finger, he growled. "If I find any one of your brothers is going to have tricks under your sleeves—" he trailed off.

From the floor, Damon watched him leaving the place as if he was in a hurry.

That guy was hiding something, for sure.

Driving back to the hotel, Klaus tried to contact the Ripper. There was no response to voice mails and text messages. He could smell the trouble. And his first instinct was to check up on Caroline.

It didn't take much time to find her disappearing.

She wasn't there. He stood in an empty suite, tracking for any intruder's scent. No sign of others. The entire place reeked of recent sex and her. He was shaking furiously, as he stepped out of the suite. From his inquiry, it was clear that she left by herself.

Stefan was nowhere to be found. Damon showed up, and Caroline acted all sweet.

She was gone, the woman who was supposed to be his companion for eternity was gone. Klaus' lips bent up a little, but the smile never reached his eyes.
