When Ginny returned to Hogwarts, the first thing she wanted to do was run to Gryffindor tower and see Sirius. Instead she followed Lucius, Regulus and Narcissa through Dumbledore's fire place and down the stairs, that led to the exit of his office.
"Oh I forgot my wand," Ginny spoke, as they descended the stairs.
"Why would you have even put it down?" Lucius smirked.
"Well I didn't leave it on purpose," Ginny responded.
She had in fact though, left it on purpose as to have an excuse to go back and speak with Dumbledore without raising suspicion.
"See you around red," Lucius laughed.
"See you in class Ginevra," Narcissa smiled as she followed Lucius.
Regulus gave her a small nod before he too followed his friends through the door.
"Canary cream?" Dumbledore offered, from where he sat at his desk with a small bowl in front of him.
"Oh no thank you," Ginny smiled.
"How was your holiday?" Dumbledore asked.
"I saw Tom Riddle, more than once," Ginny replied.
Dumbledore didn't replied as he popped a canary cream in his mouth.
"I tried to press him about the horcruxes, casually of course," Ginny added, taking a seat across from him.
"Of course," Dumbledore chuckled.
"I didn't learn anything useful, but he trusts me now, so maybe-"
"He trusts you?" Dumbledore asked, folding his hands neatly, and abandoning his sweets.
"He mentioned about traveling, and that he needed someone he trusted to keep something safe for him."
"And he entrusted you with it?" He asked.
Ginny nodded, reaching into her pocket, and pulling out the ring she had shoved their earlier when Tom had given it to her.
Dumbledore smiled slightly, as he looked at the ring in the palm of her hand, his eyes twinkling as his voice changed slightly.
"May I?" he asked, reaching across the desk.
Ginny shrugged, dropping the ring into Dumbledore's outstretched hand.
He turned it over once, and examined the dark stone set into the ring before turning his gaze over to Ginny, as he regarded her through his half moon spectacles.
"Ginevra, I'm happy to say, you have found another of Tom's horcruxes,"
"A ring?" Ginny asked, disappointed that she hadn't realized.
"But it is so much more than that," Dumbledore responded in a voice that Ginny didn't associate with him.
"Do you mind if I hold onto this for a while Ginevra, Id like to examine it?"
"Of course, but when Tom Riddle returns and asks for it?" Ginny asked, rising from her chair.
"He won't" Dumbledore assured with a small smile.
