LEARNED IT FROM A MANGA
Disclaimer: Don't own Naruto or any other series mentioned here.
Sorry I haven't updated for so long, the difference between when I signed up and started writing for this website ten years ago and now, is that the cost to maintain a living is a bigger pain now than it was then, especially when you're competing with a bunch of college kids in a college town trying to land a decent job. One of the 'joys' of being an adult that nobody told you about.
Anyway, to those who helped with picking the mangas, and what characters to use for the Naruto crew, thanks, even though not everything well be used, or used as expected, thanks for the help, and hope you keep reading. To those who wanted me to change the coupling to a NaruHina, not going to happen, might do a NaruHina in another fic, this one, it stays NaruSaku.
Personally, sorry for offending the fans of one or both couples for what I'm saying, not for sharing my opinion, even though NaruHina and SasuSaku are canon, still thinking they shouldn't have been, despite how the anime is throwing in a bunch of last minute stuff to justify it, but make things a big worse. Especially when in Shippuden laid on thick with the hints towards NaruSaku and SasuKarin, even near the end, hell, there were tons of fics that believed it, myself included, and when Kishmoto all of a sudden, rushed the ending, including the final showdown between Naruto and Sasuke, that I could handle. When it ended, the ShikaTemari, and SaiIno were expected, with Choji ending up with Karin was an okay surprise, but NaruHina and SasuSaku, more like a fan pleaser then anything, with the Last Movie making things worse, because it makes Sakura out to be ungrateful, especially what she says to Naruto to make him notice Hinata, that she pretty much describes herself when she describes Naruto's crush on her. Besides, if Naruto and Hinata were to end up together, then there should have more romantic development between the two, wither before the timeskip, like during the chunin exams, or after, like when Hinata first sees him, random moments where she pops in to motivate Naruto, just don't cut it, especially if nothing goes on in between, plus, considering how Hinata appeared very little during Gaiden, while Sakura still gets more appearances, makes one wonder why make them a couple if you're not going to utilize them completely. And if Sasuke and Sakura were supposed to be together, then should have had Sakura give Sasuke a chakra-enhanced kick to the gnads just to let him know she is worth the effort, before dragging his sorry ass back to Konoha, which would include some development. Slapping them together just when the series about end, that is the most horrible timing, not even a rush job, just puts them together to please the fans, would have been better if he did two separate endings, like what were to happen if Sakura actually went to Naruto and asked him for a date instead, and what were their family be like. Chances are, Kishimoto probably didn't bother with a plan B on who to pair Hinata with if Naruto didn't become the one for her. Well here is my rant, and once again, sorry for offending anybody, yet this is how I feel, and planned or not, even making it happened no matter what, Kishimoto did a lousy job of promoting them, even after pairing them together, he doesn't seem to do a good job explaining why they still belong together, even if the anime is throwing out stuff to try and support it, that, and why have Naruto save Sakura multiple times if he doesn't get the girl he was originally pursuing.
Age: Rookies: 8-9, Team Gai: 9-10
Couples: Main: NaruSaku, SasuHina, ShikaIno, NejiTen non-negotiable, and this well not be a harem fic. The rest, JiraTsun, ItacShizune, anything else, still willing to take suggestions on.
Here is a current list of who learns what from what manga, comic or anything else that can be useful, while also can be translated from one era to another. Open to change until chapter 12.
Naruto-Dragonball series
Sasuke-Dragonball series
Neji-Dragonball series
Sakura- Avatar: The Last Airbender
Ino- Avatar: The Last Airbender
Hinata- Avatar: The Last Airbender
Shikamaru- Blue Dragon
Choji- Toriko
Kiba-Inuyasha
Shino-
Lee- One-Punch Man
Tenten- Bleach
Here is the new list, and with Shino, well, since just about every manga that includes bugs are either used mainly by the villian, or are the villains, like somebody's version of Starship Troopers, so instead of having him followed a bug theme, thinking more like having him learn some new move, mainly taijutsu, with small ninjutsu, to serve as his plan B in case he would have to actually fight somebody who breaks through. Also, please make sure the manga wouldn't be considered M-rated, because some characters just won't match, especially the really perverted characters, and since I'm writing about kids, there are some lines I'm just not going to cross.
Now in the fourth year of the academy for Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Hinata, Kiba, Shino, Shikamaru, Ino and Choji, fifth year for Neji, Lee, and Tenten, the kids are one year closer to starting a career that comes after graduation. While the classes are full of intermediate levels of the basics, like math, reading, writing, along with a few free periods to either practice all of the practical stuff learned from last year, from Taijutsu or personal interests like fuinjutsu and iryojutsu, catch up on a few things, or take a little breather before the next class, especially if the previous one involved something that can take a lot out of person, like extreme physical training, or chakra control exercises.
Right now the gang is just lazing around a bit, catching up on their reading/training, by reading manga, although a few spots are being shared by a pair who seem to be practicing for the future. The summer break between class proved fruitful in more ways than one, since more of them decided to try and add things from them to what they are learning now. Also, some couples got a bit closer, although at their age, lost in translation. While the girls know what boys they want to be with, especially since they won't mind if they don't have the fairy tale life, the boys on the other hand, while they feel something for the girls, they still didn't known the fact that the words girl and friend can become one word. Naruto would be a bit of an exception since one of the things he has been looking for during the early days of his life was love, and in some ways, understands a girls better than most.
Also during the break, besides the girls finding love early, some of them have discovered what paths in life they want to pursue, got some training in, met the Kyubi up close, and of course, had some fun, because their families want their kids to enjoy their childhood while they can.
Under one tree, Sakura was sitting at the base, with Naruto lying down with his head in her lap. While Naruto was reading the latest issue of DBZ, Sakura was reading Avatar: The Last Bender with one hand, while the other was multitasking, from turning the page, to petting Naruto on the head, which is causing a small purr out of his mouth. After seeing how well the boys are incorporation fiction with reality in their training, she, along with the other girls, decided to try their luck, to not only being able to get ahead of curve like their friends, but also have a bit of common ground their boys. Her, Ino and Hinata took an interest in Avatar because of the fact that the characters can not only use elements in their fights, yet also, in a way, since the elements move with their bodies, it's like they are dancing. With Sakura, in Avatar, both her and Hinata took a slight interest in Katara, because of the fact that she not only uses water, but also that she is a healer, which is why they asked Tsunade if she can also give them some extra training during the summer. She also gained an interest with the character Suki, one of the Kyoshi Warriors, because even though she doesn't wield an element, her fighting style more than makes up for it, which is why Sakura also asked Tsunade about learning her fighting style. Basically, one could say her summer, along with Naruto's, brought in a lot of changes, one that unknowingly, became a bit of a life changer.
Flashback
It is the morning after, at the Haruno household, where a sleepover is being held, with the ANBU that are standing guard after replacing the night shift. At the moment, in Sakura's room, what was originally one kid in the bed, the other on the floor, became two kids on the floor. Apparently, Sakura, after realizing that her crush was sleeping in the same room as her, deciding that she would rather be sleeping next to him, which is what Kizashi and Mebuki walked in on, with big smiles on their faces. Because right before them , Naruto and Sakura are sleeping face to face, with their arms embracing the other in a small hug, their legs crossing each other at the ankles, and for the final touch, their foreheads are touching each other, making them take the shape of a heart.
One of the reason why both parents are happy, is that, along with the 'aww' that came from Mebuki's mouth, was that they could picture how they looked like as adult in that position, or at least the safe version, and while Kizashi can picture himself doing an impression of the overprotective father just to have a little fun with the boy, but he can also picture both Mebuki and Sakura pounding the living daylights out of him if he so much as tries it. The other reason is that they couldn't help but feel like they are seeing the second coming of Minato and Kushina in the future, minus the violence, and really hoping this time around, that both kids get to enjoy a nice happy life together instead of having it come to an abrupt end like how their friend's family life did before it could even start.
And while some would love to keep looking at the cute scene by the young couple, like most mothers, somehow, Mebuki was able to make a camera out of thin air, and started snapping pictures. Some she was going to use as a keepsake, she was going to give them to Naruto's family, although she can't but feel sorry for Naruto since Tsunade can be a bigger brat then Naruto, along with Hiruzen, and probably keep a few on hand for blackmail purposes.
After a losing battle with the morning sun, both kids started to wake up, and their eyes blinking out the sleep in them. When they became fully open, both of their faces went red after realizing their position, none more so then Sakura since she felt like she got her hand caught in the cookie jar. "I don't know why, even though I should be jumping back in shock, I just don't want to let go or move for some reason." Naruto said.
Sakura couldn't help but blush at this, considering how romantic that sounded, especially to her because it made her special in some way. "Me either and I'm sorry for sneaking in on you while you were sleeping." She said, before her head started to put a tomato to shame.
The reason behind it, being that Naruto gave her a small peck on her nose, not knowing why he done it, but something told him to, "Don't be, it was the best night sleep I even had." Naruto said, causing a little steam to come out of the poor girl's ears.
This was when a loud *wham!* followed by a slight rumble, snapped them out of their moment. They turned to the source of a ticked off Mebuki yelling out "Don't you dare say it you freaking perv!" To a downed Kizashi, with a huge lump on his head.
This was when the regular instincts of a child being caught by parents, even not their own, kicked in, to where they jumped onto their feet in opposite directions, with one of their hands at the back of their heads, rubbing it in embarrassment, expecting a big chew out. Instead, to their surprise, Mebuki gave a light giggle, "Oh don't worry kids, you're not in trouble, we found it cute on how close you two have become lately." She said, although in her head, thinking far into the future 'Although hopefully they wait until they at least around twenty, and married, before they get too close. I don't want to be a grandmother too soon.'
Deciding to do something now before it got even more embarrassing, "Well, I'm going to go get dressed." Naruto said, before throwing in another surprise when he gives Sakura a kiss on her forehead, "I'll see you downstairs Sakura." He then stepped out towards the bathroom. A couple of minutes doing a statue impression, with a full body blush, *thump* Sakura fainted on the spot.
Flashback ends.
And since that day, one could say their destiny as having a family of their own was set in stone, at least for a lot of people's sakes, considering the future they are preparing for, and Naruto having more on his shoulders then maybe even the Hokage. Despite Kizashi going overboard with the drama when Sakura declared that he is only allowed to kiss her on the cheek, while everything else is reserved for Naruto's lips alone, even saving her first kiss for him, with Mebuki trying hard not to laugh at the fact that their young daughter has already replaced him with, in her own words, 'future husband,' and if it wasn't for her knocking him out by throwing a heavy object at his head, he would have done the kind of stupid that does the worst kind of harm. Afterwards, and having a chat with the other parents/guardians, it was agreed upon that they gave their kids the uncomfortable 'talk,' especially considering how some kids are more closer to a certain other then they are with the rest. While it didn't happen all at once, by the time summer started, everyone in the group had the birds and the bees talk, Shizune being the one to explain it to Naruto since out of the three living with him, she is the most mature, since Jiraiya would try to convert him into the pervert side, and Tsunade would scare him away from girls by threatening what she would do if he did anything perverted after the talk.
They got together a couple of days later, even though the awkwardness of being around somebody different in anatomy, they talked about what they were told, and after getting a good idea of what their parents are afraid of, they all agreed that they will wait about a decade before they even think about getting into that stage in their life, even try to save it for marriage, even though the lifestyle they are training for makes such things easier said than done. Right now, the only thing that the soon to be couples with the seed of love already planted are doing are just basic hugs, kisses on their faces other than the lips, and holding hands, nothing too extreme. Although in the boys case, would be a matter of survival because if the girls were to carry their kid way too early, not only would they have to deal with their fathers, yet also their ticked off mothers for making them grandmothers too soon, although Naruto and Kiba would have it worse considering that Tsunade and Tsume would do the most damage.
"Hey, Sakura," Naruto said, while lowering his book, and looking up towards the girl who is lending her lap for his head to rest on, getting a slight 'hmm' in return, "Did you get that scroll on aikido I handed to your mother last week?"
"Yes I did, why didn't you deliver it in person." Sakura asked, while closing her book.
Naruto gave a small sigh and shiver, "When I got it from Gai, I didn't get away fast enough to avoid the whole 'Flames of Youth' speech, and since you were out with Ino, Hinata and Tenten, I only had energy to make it home and have Shizune comfort me." He said, causing the group to feel a slight shiver go down their spins, and feel sorry for the blonde, while Sakura gave him a slight hug to help him get rid of the memory. Even Lee felt the same way, while he respects the man since he is a taijutsu specialist, and can help him with his problem, yet as a role model, he could do better. (Yes, Lee will not be a mini-Gai in this, mainly because in this fic, he met Naruto and the gang before he becomes a member of Gai's team.)
On a bench, reading their books, were Sasuke and Hinata, reading their books, while Hinata just leaned against Sasuke, using his shoulder as a pillow. Sasuke with DBZ, and Hinata, like Sakura, with Avatar. Also like Sakura, she found an interest in Katara, especially since the water like movements can help her greatly in making her version of the Hyuga Gentle Fist, considering that like water, she is more flexible then stiff like most of the clan, or rather the male portion, with encouragement from both Hunita, who was hoping for a few more changes to the clan, and Hanabi, because mixing what looks like dancing, at least from her point of view, and fighting looks like fun. Another character that caught her eye was Toph, the blind earthbender who sees with her feet. What made it interesting was because, while the Hyuga are known for the Byakugan, the all-seeing eye, the only downside that most of the clan refuse to see is the fact that all somebody has to do is find a way to disable it, one of which is if somebody were to make their chakra so bright, it can blind them long enough to take them out. While she isn't sure if she can wield the earth element, one thing she would like to do is see if she can tune her other senses high enough to where she can see through them, like using the sense of touch to feel the world or her sense of hearing to detect see what her sight can. This was also encouraged by her mother, because somebody tried to tell the clan about this more than once, but like some of the Uchihas, they tend to believe that their eyes are flawless when using their other future.
Between the last spring break and the first day of school, like Naruto and Sakura, Sasuke and Hinata have also gotten a little closer, and like them, still don't fully understand the concept of being a couple. While Hinata has some idea, especially from the stories her mother told her, she is still wet behind the ears, mainly because she is still a little girl dreaming of a nice future with the right boy, and don't fully understand the catch involved, Sasuke on the other hand, well compared to Naruto, he is a bit more clueless on the concept that boys and girls can become friends in a different sort of way.
It all started with what was called a 'double date,' which included them, Itachi, and Shizune. What made it awkward for both Uchiha was that when they went to pick up their dates, Sasuke felt like the reaper was breathing down his neck when they picked up Hinata, that Hiashi was giving him a scary look, at least until he got elbowed Hunita, who gave him a look that makes his look tamed, and when Shizune was picked up, Itachi got a look from Tsunade, that for some reason, caused him to say 'yes ma'am' without her saying a word. When asked by Sasuke, expecting to hear him saying 'when you're older,' instead it was 'you're better off not knowing.
Flashback #2
The group are at a Chugokugo (Japanese for Chinese, since there is no China in the Elemental Nations) restaurant run by a couple that moved to the village about a year or two ago, who have no reason to despise Naruto, or those who want to help him. This place became a favorite for Shizune since they have different variations of fried brown rice, with pork nowhere near on her list, mainly because of her respect for Tonton. After placing their orders, both Shizune and Hinata took the opportunity to go use the ladies room. When it was just the brothers, they decided to have a little chat before the girls returned.
"So Sasuke, how does it feel to be on a date with Hinata?" Itachi asked, hoping to get some kind of response from his little brother.
Sasuke gave a small shrug, while taking a sip of water, "It's okay, although how is it any different from us just hanging out with each other?" He asked.
Itachi wasn't too surprised at the answer, because even though Sasuke is proven himself to be a prodigy in his own right, along with Naruto and Neji, in the future, it would be a miracle if they know how to understand girls enough, "You'll find out when you are older, and learn to listen to your heart more." He said, "Because down the road, you'll start to become your own man, and one of the biggest questions well be who you well be sharing it with anybody?"
"And you're saying that Hinata might just be the one I'll be married to?" Sasuke asked, not quite getting the full picture, while not sure how to respond to that.
"It all depends on both you and Hinata, since you can never predict the future when it involves the heart," Itachi said, "Although considering how much closer you two have become since after Naruto and Sakura seem to become more inseparable then before, and since 'the talk' from mother and father didn't have much effect on you, then who knows, your future might have a positive outcome." Sasuke had a slight blush on his cheeks when the first part was mentioned, and got brighter when he said the last part, but disappeared when Itachi gave him a small flick in the forehead to get his focus back on the here and now, "But just because I said it, doesn't mean that the future is set in stone. It means that you have to work towards it, just like Hinata would, through all the good time and bad times, supporting each other when you need it, things you'll need to find out for yourself, because you can't rely on your family to hold your hand all your life." He finished, although saying the rest in his head, 'Instead, Hinata would be there to pick up the slack.'
After listening to what he was told, "So what you're saying is that if I want to reach my goals, then I need to be willing to take the hard way with no shortcuts?" Sasuke asked, making sure he got it right.
"Oh shortcuts are okay, as long as you don't overuse them, or at least make sure they don't come with a price you'll have to pay indefinitely." Itachi said, deciding to bring the big brother speech to an end, "Okay, enough with the future, let's talk about . . ."
He was interrupted when a loud "Oh my god, Hinata, I'm so sorry!" Was heard throughout the restaurant.
When Sasuke gave his brother a worried look, Itachi just shook his head while holding out his hand, "Don't, because since it's in the girl's restroom, then if you storm in there, you might end up going through what Jiraiya does at a regular basis, while risking the chance of losing the part of you that still makes you a boy." This caused Sasuke to shiver a bit, with his face going pale, for two reasons: 1. The last person he would ever have anything in common with is the Toad Hermit, because like Naruto and the other boys, well, except maybe Kiba, they would never look at girls the same way he does, while at the same time, expose the bum when he does his research, while 2. He might be still too young to understand how his entire body works, yet even he knows what part he is talking about. Itachi's voice snapped him back to reality, "And don't forget, Shizune is being trained to become a medic-nin by Tsunade herself, then Hinata is in good hands right now." Seeing that Sasuke has calm down some, they decided to have their little chat.
After a few more minutes, Shizune and Hinata returned to their table, both giving a little blush, with Hinata's being a bit bigger. "What happened to you , Hinata?" Sasuke asked, still curious on what happened to his date.
"Just some girl talk, Sasuke." Hinata answered, confusing Sasuke a bit, and a little life lesson about understanding girls: Don't always expect an immediate answer.
Ladies restroom, few minutes earlier-
After taking care of business in the stalls, both Hinata and Shizune are washing their hands at their sink, "So Hinata, I noticed you have been staking your claim on Sasuke lately." Shizune said, jokingly, even though she knew the joke itself would go over blunette's head, "What happened, did the fact that Naruto and Sakura are closer to becoming to becoming a couple encourage you to try and get close to Sasuke?"
Hinata blushed up a storm for being put on a spot like that, although then again, who wouldn't be. Finally getting the nerve back, "I'm not sure what you mean by the first part, but yes, the way I have been acting around Sasuke, is because of Sakura telling us how she and Naruto are not only hugging and holding hands, but also kissing, even though it's not on the lips. Since then, we decided to have a little competition between us, Ino and Tenten, to see who has the best boyfriend, despite the fact that they are more focused on the manga then romance, but also the best couple." She said, while also giving a small sigh, "And we also agreed to make sure to not cross any kind of lines that are parents don't want us to cross yet until we are at least more grown up, because we don't want to do something we wouldn't be ready for." Hinata gave a slight shiver at what she is about to say next, "Especially since we don't want our boyfriends to get killed by Lady Tsunade and our mothers if we did."
Even Shizune couldn't help but shiver, because even though she tends to be the voice of reason to keep Tsunade on the straight and narrow, although that job was starting to drop ever since they became Naruto's family, along with Shizune having to go through the academy to become an official kunoichi, even she would never want to be anywhere near the women when she goes on a warpath. "Well, sounds like everybody has made some smart decisions for the future, but also remember that the future has no such guarantees that things well go according to plan, especially when you become ninja, then you would need to start making some choices that is required of adults." And while deciding to try and lighten things up, while forgetting one little detail, "Like saving everything for the honeymoon." Which was, *thud!* the age of the person she was making the joke to. Turning towards the source, which revealed a fainted Hinata, with a red face, the older girl ran towards the older girl, yelling "Oh my god, Hinata, I'm so sorry!"
After a couple of minutes of checking to see if Hinata is okay, and waiting for her to wake up, Hinata woke up, and when asked by Shizune what she was thinking about she fainted, she sighed in relief after hearing that Hinata mainly pictured a kiss on the lips at some romantic place, mainly innocent, kid type stuff, meaning that she didn't unintentionally corrupted a youth's mind on what else love could be. Helping the girl up, and finishing their business, they left to rejoin their dates.
Back to the present, somewhat-
After getting their food, they had a nice little conversation, although the older couple couldn't resist making the young-uns feel embarrassed, when Itachi brought up on how he, along with a bunch of other guys who turn out to be natural born prodigies, are envious at the fact that Sasuke, along with Naruto and Neji, are able to get away from fan-girls by flying away, while also, which is what embarrassed them, was by telling him that he, along with the other two, should start considering on taking their girls with them whenever they decide to fly. Shizune threw in a little advice with Hinata to make sure to be careful when she does, especially if she ends up wearing a skirt."
Flashback ends
And like the said pair from before, Sasuke and Hinata felt a bit closer, although it would still take about a couple of years before the boys start to treasure the girls in the same way the girls treasure them. It was also a couple of weeks later that Sasuke, Naruto and Neji decided to give the girls that were attached to them at the waste a little test flight, with the girls being carried on their backs, with their arms around their necks, to see if they need to improve anything, and while the only thing they need to get used to is carrying somebody that is around their age, or at least almost the same height as them, they did learn why the girls need to be cautious when it comes to wearing skirts while going for a ride, because when the boys come in for a landing, sometimes they like to dive towards the ground and swoop up until their feet are about a foot or two above the ground, and drop to the ground, causing the skirts that poor Sakura and Hinata were wearing, to fly up and give quite a few people a good look at their panties. After recovering from the embarrassment of being exposed like that, Naruto and Sasuke apologized for that, which was accepted knowing that it wasn't intentional on anybody's part. Since that day, after a couple of more trial and errors, while the boys are able to carry the girls in their arms, either bridal style, which is the safest, or being held vertically on the front, with the boys arm(s) around her for support, or on the back, the boys would give them some kind of signal to indicate that they were about to land, so that way the girls would have enough time to put a hand on the edge of their skirts so that way they won't just fly up whenever the boys feel like doing the drop landing. Ino was a bit envious of the three because they get to fly, wishing Shikamaru could. When asked about it, he was dumb enough to make a smartass answer by saying that it's too troublesome to flap his arms. He then spent the rest of that day running from a ticked off with Ino trying to do some serious bodily harm to him.
Speaking of said pair, they are laying on the grass, with Ino using Shikamaru's shoulder as a pillow, while both are reading the manga. Like the other two girls, Ino took an interest in Avatar, although instead of the healing approach, she felt more like Ty Lee, the circus girl who has the ability to use chi the same way the Hyugas use their gentle fist, along with the fact that she can make her opponents underestimate her by her cheerful with her personality, before knocking them out with her flexibility. The other would be Mai, since even though she isn't as adaptable as Ty Lee, she makes up for it with her own speed, along with her ability with throwing weapons. Kiba was dumb enough to ask if she was going to be anything like Azula, only for her to counter by throwing a ball of cat nip in his face, that Naruto was saving for a prank that day, causing a lot of cats to chase him around the village for a few days. So right now, she is looking for a teacher to help her learn some of these moves, although she isn't too fond of going to somebody as crazy as Might Guy, even more so since Sakura is overprotective of Naruto to where nobody could ask anymore of such favors.
Shikamaru picked an interesting in Blue Dragon, not the characters, but rather the idea of doing something with the shadows other than to trying to play catch with other people's shadows. Like all clans with a bloodline, other nations are finding ways to put up a better fight, and right now, Shikamaru is hoping to improve the thing that can become his clans downfall. This is why he intends to ask his father if there has ever been anybody within the clan to take shadow manipulation to a new level. While he wouldn't mind making his shadows talk, but if that shadow gains a mind of its own, just like Naruto's shadow clones, which he started to learn over the summer, then it would really be troublesome because if that shadow said something offensive, Shikamaru would be the one taking the wrap.
As to why they are considered a couple, well, unlike Sakura and Hinata who decided to try a more subtle approach towards love, Ino is more direct, by walking up to Shikamaru and demanded that he be her boyfriend, and like the typical Nara male, just shrugged his shoulders and said fine, finding it too troublesome to resist in anyway.
At another tree, Neji and Tenten are sitting shoulder to shoulder, reading their books. When everybody was finding what manga spoke to them, being a weapons nut, Tenten showed a deep interest in Bleach, since the characters used swords of all different forms. While she does care about Neji almost the same way the other girls care about their boys, yet she doesn't consider herself girly enough to let love be a factor this early in her life, and focus more on becoming a great kunoichi like her idol, Tsunade. While at first, she was a bit envious of Naruto because she is his godmother, and he was living with her, then she made the mistake of going fan girl by asking Naruto about what it is like to be her godson, and living with her, with the mistake being that when told what it was like, along with what Tsunade is like, especially her favorite pastime, well, Tenten didn't take it too well. To put it simply, it wasn't pretty since she pretty much called Naruto a liar, and said a few things hurtful, along with getting ready to attack him, with the villagers that hated him cheering her on, only to be stopped by Tsunade herself before it got too out of hand, and Tenten ends up saying something, or doing something, that would destroy a friendship that has been going on for so long, along with a few others, just for not only acting like the one thing she despises, but also sacrificing a valuable friendship that feels more like an extended family. After making peace in private, after Tsunade scared away the crowd with just the crack of her knuckles, when she confessed to what Naruto said was true, with Shizune including her two cents, Tenten apologized big time for her actions, while also realizing that even heroes have their flaws, which is why it's bad to give them the celebrity treatment. Even though their friendship was strained for a while, along with Sakura due to her being a bit overprotective of him, the rest just chose not to rush to judgement, since Tenten was saved from herself from doing something incredibly stupid, by the time summer was halfway through, all was forgiven, since Naruto and grudges never go together, although he did have to convince Sakura to let it go.
Choji is on a bench, reading Toriko, a manga about a gourmet hunter, of the same name, and the one thing that caught his attention that involves food and fighting, although it didn't help matters any when his father, Choza, felt depressed that his mother, Cho, thought a fictional character was more handsome then him. Right now, Choji is doing everything he can to keep his father from destroying his books. Leaning on his shoulder, reading the same book in his hand, is Ami, yes the same Ami that started the entire school experience as a spoiled brat and bully, has now found an interest in the 'big-boned' boy. During the summer, while the group was having a nice summer, hanging out together, they came across a sight that even they can't ignore. Turns out, even though they are all just children, Ami's parents had high expectations for her to where, since her father is on the council, that she should come out on top in class, even with their influences, only to barely make it to the top half, and they also expected her to get a head start on trying to get her into an elite clan just so that they would have a way to gain access to money and power, especially through any offspring they have, by having her charm either Sasuke, Neji, or recently, Naruto, because if he gets to be named clan heir for the Senju, (remember, this is what they are thinking, not what they truly know about Naruto), but since those gaps were already filled, and not going to be replaced by any means, the only answer left for her parents was to disown their own daughter for doing what she was supposed to. After apologizing to them for how she treated them, and telling them what happened, along with learning who her friends really are since the two that hung with her ditched her, she was welcomed into the group with open arms, and after the Yamanakas decided to take her in, giving Ino somebody she would consider a sister, she started to develop feelings for Choji, who has a heart almost as big as Naruto's. Now, with people that are actually willing to be her friend and help her catch up with everybody through hard training, well, Ami is starting to prove herself to be ninja material.
As for the three single boys, Kiba is reading Inuyasha, and felt like the character he connected with the most, is Koga, the wolf demon, because they have almost the same personalities, yet was threaten by Tsume and Hana on what they would do to him if he was completely like him, especially when it came to girls. Lee started to read One-Punch Man, especially seeing a hero who, like him, can only rely on his body in battle, to where he can defeat an opponent with just one punch. Sure, he knows that the chances of him pulling it off in the future with taijutsu, but he can still use some of the moves in a different way. Shino, he wasn't much success, since just about every manga he has read so far puts bugs in a really bad light, considering how they are drawn as oversized, vicious and downright evil, that he had to keep himself from making them 'disappear' right there in the store. So now, he is just trying to see if there are any fighting styles he would prefer to use in case somebody bypasses his clan's techniques.
One thing they can all agree on, is some of the stuff that are added to the manga seem pretty weird, and useless, like guns, giant drills, and other things, that they decided to just not think too much about it. When the bell rang to announce the next class, everybody got up, some helping the other person up, and headed back to learning, some of them holding the hand of the other the entire way.
Well, here is the latest fic, and yes, it would be considered a filler chapter, since I decided to see how I can incorporate different manga to different character. Also hoping nobody minds the little twist I threw in by pairing Choji with Ami, since she only appears in one flashback during the entire series, it means that there is plenty of blank canvas to where she can be written in just about any which way possible. And if anybody has a suggestion on who to pair with Kiba, Lee and Shino, let me know, along with what manga can you picture Shino using to help him learn how to fight. And like I said before, I'm not going to rush the romance, just let it build slowly, so that way the kids can still act like kids for a few chapters. Anyway, the next chapter, I'll start having the characters mix moves from the manga with the ninja moves, along with more story, and less flashbacks. Also going to take a long while until they graduate, like when they reach their late teens, along with by then, the romance, so please be patient, and if you have suggestions on what you can picture what they would be doing at a certain age before becoming ninja, feel free to throw in a few ideas, just keep them age appropriate, since there are some lines I just refuse to cross, plus who would you like to see get introduced next, and how. As for my rant up above, sorry about offending anybody, yet I stand by what I said, since come to think of it, the entire series is seriously lacking on romance, mainly involving the main and secondary characters, just subtle hints, with a bunch of hints involving the main characters pointed in every direction but forward, and most of the time, except for the movie, you never really find out who is together until they died, or in Kurenai's case, becoming pregnant. Also came across an article, saying that Kishimoto was originally planning on ending the series with the final battle, although not specified how, like either Naruto and Sasuke are charging each other with the final blow, or both knock each other out, and just end it there, no coupling. The only reason he added the couples the way he did was because somebody showed him a script for the Last Movie, he liked it, and threw them in there to give people a reason to watch the movie, despite the fact that it conflicts with the story. Read and Review, and if you have any couple ideas that you would like to see get used, even for the first time, let me know.
