The intensity was overwhelming...

The friction was electrifying...

Enveloped in the flames of passion, they burned with desire as they drank in the intoxicating wine of one another. For them to see each other so raw and utterly vulnerable gave them excitement that could not be explained with words.

But no matter...

Words were not needed as their bodies communicated with sensual contact that left neither of them wanting anything except each other as they neared heights that transcended understanding.

Vergil's soul-piercing gaze bore boldly into her yearning one, his intent obvious and his message crystal clear as he listened to her melodic voice rise an octave...then another...and another...

The dimmed lights shining above their bed illuminated her big brown eyes in ethereal beauty as his name ghosted her lips. Her bare, caramel-colored skin was glistening like diamonds as he watched her breathe deeply, the swells of her breasts rising and falling as if beckoning him; he fell further, lost in ecstasy and hypnotized by the feelings she was giving him.

"Say it again..." Vergil's tone was husky as he leaned down to rest his lips against her cheek. He rolled his hips.

Ari arched her back slightly, mewling his name in obedience and digging her nails into his back as she held on to him for dear life. Vergil bit his bottom lip as a low moan escaped his throat and one of his hands gripped her hip just a little tighter. She was his drug and he was addicted.

"Again..." He pulled back to gaze at her once more as he rolled his hips with a little more force.

Her breath quickened and she moaned his name a little louder, her voice reverberating slightly off the walls in the otherwise silent bedroom. Vergil groaned before capturing her lips in a hungry kiss. Their tongues danced lazily as their pace quickened and Vergil pulled back to run a hand through his hair, moving it away from his from his sweat-glistened forehead back into its signature position.

He could feel his face flushing deeper and his body growing hotter as he locked eyes with her again. When he spoke, the whisper of his voice had dropped a pitch lower, "Give it to me darling, I want it...can I have it?" He could see her eyes were swirling with drunken desire as she stared back at him.

Ari whimpered as he snapped his hips a little harder, her curly tresses a messy mane against the pillow underneath her as she closed her eyes and threw her head from side to side, squirming at his explicit ministrations and squeezing him between her thighs, "Yes Vergil...yes!"

Vergil's brow furrowed, his eyes closing as he leaned his head back and his lips parted. Feeling one of her hands press against his abs, he took it into his own and brought it to his lips, kissing her fingers as he rocked into her again and again. Before long, Ari was moaning his name like a mantra and all thoughts vacated his mind at the sound of her. He could barely catch his breath but his body kept going as if he had lost all control. Her name fell from his lips in a breath and he moaned deeply as she drew him in, and they rode the wave together.

Vergil slowly opened his eyes, leaning down as his pace slowed, just barely touching noses with her and his lips mouthing inaudible words, "...kiss me..." Their lips connected desperately as small moans escaped them in between breaths.

And then, silence...

Lidded blue eyes gazed at lidded brown ones before a small smile appeared on Ari's lips. She ran a hand through Vergil's downy hair before wiping it gently across his forehead and cupping his cheek. Vergil's lips were parted as he panted deeply, still barely able to comprehend anything as he came down from his high.

Ari tilted her head slightly, "I love you Vergil." Her breathy voice slightly hoarse and her body trembling.

"I love you too..." Vergil's reply was barely a whisper as he hovered over her, "Are you alright?"

Ari nodded as she propped up a little to kiss his cheek before lying back down, "Are you?"

Vergil raised his brows, nodding as he blinked slowly, "I am. That was...amazing."

Ari hummed in agreement as she reached up to tuck a tendril of hair behind one of his ears.

Vergil's eyes grew heavy and both his arms began to slowly give way as he lay down on top of her, his face buried in the side of her neck. Ari circled her arms around him, holding him close as one of her hands played with his hair.

"You know what," Ari glanced at the clock across the room that read a quarter past midnight, "I could actually go for some pancakes right now. Want to come make some with me?"

No response.

After a few moments, Ari furrowed her brows and her lips twisted into an amused smirk, "Are you asleep already? I think that's record time." She wasn't necessarily speaking to him but more so thinking out loud.

She wiggled a little in attempt to alter their positioning, letting gravity bring him down onto the bed next to her as she rolled from underneath him, coming to rest on her side. She noticed his breathing pattern had deepened as one who was in a deep slumber but although he had a tendency to fall asleep after lovemaking, surely he couldn't have fallen asleep that fast.

"Vergil," she sing-songed, touching a hand to his shoulder and nudging him, "I know you're not asleep. C'mon, come make pancakes with me. Pleeeeease?"

Vergil didn't show any signs of acknowledgment and Ari raised a brow, a little perplexed. "Vergil?" She shook him a little harder. "Okay, seriously, don't play like this Vergil."

When he failed to respond, Ari's concern grew panicked, "Vergil?! VERGIL?!"

She grabbed him by his shoulders and tried to sit him up but to no avail, shaking him as best she could. Ari began to feel like she was about to hyperventilate as the sudden turn of events threw her into confusion and she didn't know what to do.

"Babe, wake up! Wake up! Vergil!" She continued to shake him.

One of Vergil's eyebrows twitched slightly.

Ari gasped as he stirred and she put a hand to her heart as she tried to calm herself. Vergil's eyes slowly cracked open and he furrowed his brows in confusion at the sight of her.

"...Darling...what's wrong?" his voice was hoarse as his arms instinctively wrapped around her as she threw herself onto him.

"Vergil, I was calling you and you weren't waking up!" Ari pulled back to look at him.

Vergil's expression twisted into confusion, "What?" he hadn't fallen asleep, what was she talking about?

"...I think you passed out." Her eyes searched his, as if trying to find something.

Vergil didn't understand what was happening. He glanced around the room thoughtfully before setting his drowsy gaze back on her. Passed out?

"Hm."

"What's the last thing you remember?"

"We were making love." He ran a hand through his hair, resting his hand under his head, "I do recall feeling a little light-headed however." Vergil furrowed his brows, "How long was I out for?"

"Just a couple of minutes," Ari ran a hand over Vergil's forehead before grabbing one of his hands and intertwining her fingers in his. Vergil brought their hands to his lips and kissed hers. "But still, that's not normal Vergil."

Vergil scoffed, "I'm fine love, I assure you."

Ari wasn't convinced and it was written all over her facial expression, "You scared me." Her voice began to choke up, "I don't know what I'd do if..."

"Hey." Vergil knew where she was going with that and didn't want her to torture herself with those kinds of thoughts, "I'm fine. I'm sure it was just because I was over-exerting myself. I aim to give you all I have and you were giving me quite the ride, woman." Vergil gave her hand a gentle squeeze, "Lightheadedness is a natural side-effect of over-exertion."

"But passing out isn't."

"That depends on the person."

"You've never done that before, Vergil."

"I suppose there is a first time for everything."

Ari frowned. Vergil didn't like to see her worry, especially not because of him. He could understand where she was coming from but he didn't think it was that big of a deal. Sure, he hadn't done that before but it wasn't like he stopped breathing or anything. According to what she described to him, he simply fell unconscious for a bit and based on what he recalled feeling right afterwards, he knew it had something to do with the level of excitement he had experienced; as strange as it was, the thought kind of amused him.

"I told you it was amazing, didn't I?" A smirk tugged at Vergil's lips.

Ari responded with a dry stare, "Stop, that's not funny."

"I'm just making a point." Vergil yawned before closing his eyes, "If I had died though, I would have died a very happy man."

Ari bit the inside of her cheek, "Stop Vergil." She pushed at his chest and he caught her arm, pulling her into an embrace. "This is nothing to joke about."

"My last words would have been legendary."

"Vergil."

"You know it's true."

"..."

" 'That was amazing.' "

"Shut up." Ari was struggling to resist the laughter that threatened her.

"That most certainly would be a great way to go out, don't you think?"

"Vergil!" The laughter snuck its way out as she nudged him in annoyance.

Vergil responded with an endearing chuckle as he kissed the top of her head, smoothing her hair down as she snuggled into his embrace. They stayed like that for a few moments before she propped up to look him in his eyes. He smiled at her as she shook her head at him, a smile on her lips also before twisting to the side. She had calmed down, but was obviously still a little bothered.

"Let's call Uli tomorrow." Ari played with his bottom lip, "Just for a check-up."

Vergil took a deep breath, "Tell me darling, why does this concern you so?"

Ari looked away briefly, "Because that was just too weird." She looked back at him, her expression soft as she looked into his eyes, "I mean, we just need to make sure, because...well, you're..." she suddenly looked sheepish.

Vergil raised a brow, "I'm what?" He knew for a fact now that there was more to her concern than she was letting on to.

"You know..." She looked slightly hesitant as he stared back at her in anticipation, "You're...older."

Vergil sighed in resignation as he looked up at the ceiling.

"I'm just saying! I mean..." Ari gently rubbed his chest, "It's not bad, it's normal, you know?" She chewed lightly on her bottom lip.

Vergil lowered his gaze to meet hers. He knew from time to time she found it entertaining to tease him about the fact that he was older than her, and by now he had grown used to the occasional reference but he still thought it was always a rather moot point. He even recalled the way Dante responded with a bit of shock when he learned Ari was only 19 at the time he took her as his wife, yet he still failed to see any significance in their age difference or how that had any relevance in relation to his abilities. Now here they were seven years later and he had grown to just accept that this would be one of those things he would have to live with being picked on about.

Nonetheless, whenever she would tease him in such a manner, he found it fitting to play into it by exercising a bit of authority to tease her in return. In general, it was just as entertaining to him to joke with her about their age difference as it seemed to be to her, but at the moment he wasn't quite sure if the conversation was purely fun and games. He thought he was picking up on some jesting from her but he was picking up on some anxiousness too and that was what was bothering him most at the moment.

"What is it going to take to get you to realize that doesn't matter?"

Ari gave him an innocent look as she gazed at him, "Please?"

Vergil took a deep breath. If he couldn't get her to understand that he was alright, surely Uli would. The elderly woman had been their personal physician ever since Ari introduced him to her in the very early stages of their marriage. Interestingly enough, she had become somewhat of a mother figure to him...fully equipped with all the overbearing, motherly concern that came with ministering to the health and well-being of a son. Nonetheless, he admired her vast wisdom and knowledge regarding health and medicine, so much so that he did not hesitate to call upon her when he felt it was needed.

This instance was not one he believed to warrant the physician's attention however. In fact, he felt it was a bit excessive; he was pretty sure he knew what had happened. But, if it would quell her anxiousness..."Alright."

Ari smiled and kissed his lips before laying her head down on his chest and relaxing into his embrace. Vergil hugged her closer to himself, kissing the top of her head as they soon drifted off to sleep.

~~~To be continued~~~
Author's Note: I suddenly had this random idea of exploring the concept of Vergil passing out and what his response to it would be. Well, you know what they say, an idea one day will keep the writer's block away. Actually no one says that, but still. Anywho, I'm going to do something a little different and let this one be a two-shot. Stay tuned for the next one, and as always, thanks for reading :)
