Well it's certainly been a minute, hasn't it? Not sure if this story will keep enough traction to warrant continuing but who knows?

Omnipotent X: Yeah, I do to. But that's sort of the way things go when you know someone who can steal quirks on a whim.

Anyways, as usual, I don't own MHA. Horikoshi still hasn't replied to my offers.

"Rin, he's here now," Kurogiri called from the other side of the door.

"Okay!" the teen replied as he made a last note besides a crude human shape. If he had more time, he would have been able to draw in better detail, but the best he could do with such a short notice was a beefed up stick figure with the desired gear drawn on.

Upon returning to the bar, Rin saw a man he had not yet met sipping tea at a booth.

"You must be Giran. My name is Rin Arai. Pleasure to meet you," the green haired boy greeted with an outstretched hand, which the man firmly grasped and shook.

"A pleasure for me as well. Now, let's get down to business, shall we?" the man asked with a smile, revealing a missing tooth from an otherwise straight toothed smile.

For the next few minutes, Rin showed his drawing to the black market dealer and explained his choices in weapons, gadgets, and armor.

"Because of the nature of my quirk, I think ventilation would be a priority. Unless you can get your hands on the fabric that Endeavor's costume is made of. But then that might bring about some necessary revisions as well," Rin explained as he pointed at the vents on the limbs and upper back of the costume.

"I think I might have someone that can get his hands on that fabric. But are you sure about everything else? With some of these additions, it'll likely become a costly piece," Giran stated.

"Don't worry about the money," All For One's voice said from the screen. "I have accumulated more than enough wealth to cover the costs."

"Very well then. I'll take these drawings and have the first suit delivered soon enough. Kurogiri has my number should you need a replacement or have any alterations in mind." Rin handed over the crude sketch and shook Giran's hand before the black market dealer left.

For the next few weeks, Rin continued training not only with the mentors All For One had under his wing, but also with "Shadow Burn". He had quickly renamed the quirk from Dark Flame, seeing as it was fairly unique in appearance. Keeping the same name as the original user was just a mistake waiting to happen.

All For One and Doctor Garaki watched from the cameras as the boy emitted black flames from his downwards facing palms to lift himself inches off the ground and float across the bar.

"I'm fairly certain I've said this already, but the boy is a quick learner. And the Adaptive Regeneration seems to have already adapted to mild use of the quirk. Perhaps we can move forward a bit earlier than expected?" the doctor wondered aloud as he pet Johnny.

"I suppose you are correct. Would tomorrow fit into your schedule?" the eyeless man joked, earning a chuckle from his subordinate.

"Of course it will, Master."

As the two had planned, Rin was called into the all too familiar lair "Sensei" resided in.

"Good morning Sensei. What have you called me for?" Rin questioned curiously yet respectfully.

"Good morning to you too, child. I'm sure you are aware that UA's entrance exam takes place early next month?"

"Yes, I was aware. I take it you will have me get involved in one way or another?" Rin deduced. He had gotten used to the slightly cryptic statements his Sensei gave from time to time.

"You are correct. Your first mission is simple: Take the entrance exam and get into UA's hero course. There is reason to believe All Might will be a teacher this year, and I would like some more inside knowledge that other sources cannot provide," All For One explained calmly.

"Infiltrate UA? Interesting. I'll do my best, Sensei," Rin replied with a slight bow.

"I know you will. But first, the doctor needs you for a minute or two."

As if summoned, the old man known as Doctor Garaki materialized behind Rin. He held an empty syringe in one gloved hand and his beloved pet Johnny in his other arm.

"This will prick just a little; I merely need some blood to perform a few tests. The progression of our plans will depend on the end results," the man explained as he jabbed the boy and extracted enough blood to fill the syringe. Less than a minute later, the entry hole was completely healed.

"As for the suit Giran is making, one variation will be sent as your hero costume while a more advanced version will be kept here. I explicitly instructed Giran to focus the school version on compatibility with 'Shadow Burn' as you call it. All of your personal touches will be implemented into the one kept here."

"That makes sense; I'd need a hero costume to fit in at UA, but it'd have to act the part to hide Adaptive Regeneration. Is there anything else you need from me?"

"No, you may go about your day."

One of Kurogiri's portals appeared behind him, which he walked through and into the bar. Shigaraki sat on a stool, playing with a handheld gaming system and cursing up a storm.

Rin ignored the man's colorful language and walked down the halls and to his room. A quick flop onto the bed later left his mind racing with information.

He was going to attend UA. It was once his dream to go there, but for a completely different reason back then. Now he had to be surrounded by hopeful children that probably never knew what it felt like to go through anything he went through.

And All Might. He knew Sensei and All Might were destined rivals. It almost felt like he was living in one of those action cartoons he loved as a child. But he had to help bring about All Might's end.

Despite having been taken in and given everything he would ever need by the man known as All For One, something about having a hand in All Might's death just felt..."wrong" was the only way he could put it.

But he owed All Might nothing, not since he crushed a child's dreams without a second thought. His loyalty was to Sensei, and he would make him proud.

A/N: I know this is a short chapter; just wanted to make sure anyone following knew this wasn't completely dead.

I feel like every time I write a chapter for my stories I keep getting reminded how different writing feels for some reason. I don't know why. I want to keep writing but more and more time is devoted to other aspects in life. Maybe I should hire someone to write for me.

Anyways, rambling aside, I hope you enjoyed this little tidbit. Leave a review if you could be so kind and have a good day.
