Chapter 1 – Friendship
My little brother and I were living with our grandfather, Solomon Muto, since our parents died when we were young so we were pretty used to living with him at the Kame Game Shop which was both a house and game shop. Yugi had always been picked on as we grew up while I never took it sitting down I always made sure that if anyone picked on us that I would always fight back. Yugi couldn't fight back mostly because he was really small while I was taller than him but I was still a little shorter than the so-called Duel Monster's champion Seto Kaiba. That guy was a royal pain, but that didn't take away the fact that he was one of the most handsome guys around even if he was cold to people around him. Although I can't really blame people for wanting to pick on Yugi with his spiky purple, black, red, and blond hair, while I had Long blond hair that stopped just above my back, with black highlights going down it. I also had red and purple half circles all around my hair, although I thought it was cool that my bangs were a variety of all four color's sometimes mixing them together and we both shared semi-dark violet eyes. Grandpa gave Yugi a small gold Egyptian looking box that had a bunch of puzzle pieces, grandpa had kinda made a bet with Yugi that he couldn't finish it which always had me laughing. Since Yugi would yell back that he would finish it and always comes close before he gets stuck which would make me smile more, since I knew he was trying his best to do what he loved. Grandpa had also told us that if the puzzle is complete a wish would be granted and I already knew what wish my little brother was hoping to have granted; he wanted true and loyal friends. I smiled while looking through my deck of spellcaster's before I heard something behind me and looked only to see Dark Magician Girl and smiled at her.
Dark Magician Girl: "What are you happy about master Hikari?"
Hikari: "I'm just thinking about Yugi and him completing the puzzle."
She just smiled at me, ever since I was young I've been able to see the monster's on the Duel Monster card's, Yugi knows about this to but has kept it a secret for me sometimes asking me if his cards are happy being with him. He came home one night covered in bruises which I quickly helped him take care of before grandpa saw them which had me sighing as we both headed down for dinner. I was still worried about him so I couldn't sleep but that happens occasionally so I got up and went to check on Yugi to see him fast asleep on the bed with the cover almost off of him. So I silently giggled before I picked it up and covered him back up with it although when I turned to leave the room I saw Yugi's puzzle box on the table and smiled before walking over to it. I hoped with all my heart that Yugi's wish comes true since I've tried to make friends all through my school years but it never lasted… which upset me. I would make friends but because of my love of the game and my family they always left me out of things or talked behind my back so I knew they weren't real friends, after all they didn't even try to play Duel Monsters. I picked up the piece that had a big eye on it and held it in my fist tightly wanting Yugi to be able to make his wish come to true so he could find some true and loyal friends that won't just up and desert him not realizing that I had shed a small tear that fell into the eye.
Voice: 'Don't worry I have heard your plea; everything will be fine; I will protect him and those who are precious to him.'
I jumped and looked around shocked wondering if it was just another monster card but then I saw a replica of my little brother just a bit bigger than him standing in front of me. Then all of a sudden the guy vanished shocking me but I smiled glad that someone was willing to help me take care of my little brother since we were in different classes I couldn't do much to help him. Mostly since we were in separate building's but I placed the piece back into the box before going to the door only to stop and look back into the room.
Hikari: "I don't know who you are or what you are but thank you."
It was a few days later when I heard someone down in the game shop so I got up and headed down after telling grandpa and Yugi that I would get it since they were having a battle. Although I thought it was funny, Yugi might be able to defeat grandpa but he still has difficulty defeating me I think it's mostly because I had a very good spellcaster deck. Most of them were Dark Magician's with spell and trap cards that configured with them, Yugi's and my Dark Magician are different though or at least the coloring is. When I went down I saw that it was just a customer so I helped them before heading back upstairs just to see grandpa win making me laugh.
Solomon: "Alright you two it's time for bed."
Hikari: "Ok grandpa I'll go close the shop."
He nodded as I got up again before heading down to the shop to close up before heading back upstairs and to my room to get my things for a shower, so once I was done with that I headed to my room in my light blue night dress. It was kinda cool since it had a blue eyes white dragon circling from the bottom up to the top with its wings directly over my back so it looked like I had wings. I finished drying my hair before I climbed into bed sighing before falling asleep in my bed happy however it didn't last long since Yugi came home the next day a lot worse than he had before which upset me again since it meant someone was still bullying him.
Hikari: "Just tell me one thing and I won't ask anything else, was it Joey and Tristan that did this to you?"
He stayed silent which had me knowing that it was indeed them but then he just shook his head which had me confused as to what happened so I waited to see if he would tell me.
Yugi: "They teased me earlier but it wasn't anything serious…"
Hikari: "Yugi, what happened between you and them?"
Yugi: "A bigger bully came and offered me protection from them but I refused but he didn't listen…"
Hikari: "Oh Yugi…"
I said as I wrapped my arms around him which made him start crying into my shoulder so I just sat there letting him cry until he was ready to continue his story which made me happy that I was able to be there for him.
Yugi: "It… it was… a different person… who did this to me… he beat up Joey and Tristan thinking that's what I wanted… but it wasn't… so I stood up to him."
Hikari: "So he beat you up to?"
He nodded which had me sighing while pulling him closer to me as I kissed his forehead knowing he thought of those two as friends already even if they didn't act like it but I knew they would be loyal once they stopped teasing him. Once Yugi calmed down I told him to go and take a shower since it had been raining and I didn't want for him to get sick and he agreed as he got up before going to the bathroom. I got up and headed down to the living room looking for grandpa only to hear the bell in the game shop so I headed down thinking it was another customer only to freeze by who I saw standing there. It was none other than Joey Wheeler and Tristan Taylor however they smelled like rotten eggs which had me scrunching up my nose but I looked at them a little upset.
Hikari: "What can I help you with boys?"
Tristan: "Uhh we… um…"
Joey: "Here, give this back to Yugi."
I held out my hand to him as he dropped something into it and when I looked I gasped it was the one piece of the puzzle that I had picked up to ask it to grant Yugi's wish only to hear that voice shortly after so I smiled at it.
Hikari: "Hold on you two."
They looked at me surprised as I disappeared before returning with two towels smiling as I handed them the towels glad that they were finally seeing the light about all of this.
Hikari: "Here dry off, I don't think it would be a good idea to send you back out soaking wet to get sick. So wait here and I'll go get Yugi."
They nodded as I headed upstairs to get Yugi who I noticed was out of the shower and dried off so I smiled at him as I walked over to him sitting at his desk trying to finish the puzzle. I waited for a little bit somehow knowing he would finish it today so when he reached for the last piece and started freaking out I walked over to him and held out my hand to him.
Hikari: "Missing this?"
Yugi: "Hikari! You scared me! Did you take it?"
Hikari: "Sorry Yugi I didn't mean to scare you, and no I didn't take it Joey and Tristan brought it back and are waiting for you downstairs so hurry up and come down once you're done."
Yugi: "Ok!"
I smiled at him as I left the room just as Yugi finished the puzzle making me smile while I looked around at some of the things grandfather would bring back on his trips from his archaeology days. He had given me a necklace that was like a pentagram only it had the Egyptian eye in the middle with the Egyptian items all around it. There were small rubies in the eye of each item, while black diamonds were practically outlining the rest of the items while the cord itself was pure gold and for some reason everyone at the dig thought of me so it was given to grandpa to give to me. Since then I've never taken it off except to take a shower, so while Yugi finished up I was in the kitchen making snacks and preparing drinks, so I smiled when I saw Yugi rush down to the shop. I picked up the tray of goodies once I was done and headed to the living room to see everyone there already so I sat down the tray on the coffee table smiling while everyone talked. I could see that shadow standing behind Yugi which had me surprised at first but I just smiled glad that they had helped grant Yugi's wish since he was smiling one of his genuine smiles. I pulled out a small card box and started fiddling with it trying to make it look like the spellcaster's staff's in each corner which had everyone looking at me which had me looking up at them when it got waay to quiet.
Hikari: "What's up?"
Joey: "What are you doing?"
Hikari: "I'm drawing magician staff's on my deck box, well my spare one."
Yugi: "Show them the one you use for your deck Kari-nee-chan."
I smiled before I got up and headed to my room and grabbed the box I had sitting on my desk, it was a dark purple kinda like velvet, with the same pattern as my necklace etched into the box but on both sides. I had custom made my deck box so that it had Dark Magician Girl, Dark Magician, Dark Magician of Chaos, and a Blue-Eyes White Dragon on it. The dragon was in the middle with the Dark Magician Girl behind it, she kinda looked like she was riding it, while the Dark Magician and the Dark Magician of Chaos were on either side of the dragon. On the top of the box I had them place a silver wolf sitting inside a Cresent moon with roses all around them, I had made the strap that clasps my box closed would end out being the Puzzle from my necklace. I took it downstairs so I could show them, Joey and Tristan were shocked when they saw it but I just smiled at them knowing it was cool since it was something I wanted to do, I always wanted to try using the Blue Eyes and my Dark Magician Girl together but I knew Kaiba would never allow it.
Joey: "Wow, Hikari this box is cool, how did you do it?"
Hikari: "I had it custom ordered with the drawings I had done along with pictures of what I wanted and instructions on how I wanted it to be."
Tristan: "Does that mean your deck is inside?"
Yugi: "Yep! Her deck is unbeatable! Even grandpa can't beat her anymore."
Hikari: "Just because I beat grandpa doesn't mean I'm unbeatable at it, there will always be people stronger than me."
Yugi: "I know Magician's Queen."
Hikari: "Not that nickname again…"
Tristan: "Why did you call her that?"
Hikari: "Because I use a deck that's only Spellcaster's, mostly Dark Magician family like him and Dark Magician Girl… I wish they would make a royal family kind."
That got everyone laughing wondering what the heck I was thinking but it really wasn't that bad of an idea, I mean every other kind of monster type has some kind of royalty to it.
