Chapter 2 - Birthday

I was happy for my little brother finally having two new friends and I mean ones who don't just hurt him or tease him ones that are actually kind and caring to him, the kind he needed next to him. I always wanted my brother to be happy and now he was so before it got to late they both headed home using our umbrella's which had me smiling at them. Although I was shocked the next day when I saw all three of them waiting at the gate for me, which made me smile before they told me that we were heading out to Burger World.

Hikari: "Sorry boys but I'm saving up to buy a car..."

Joey: "Don't worry Hikari! I'll pay for you!"

Hikari: "Ok, thanks Joey."

Yugi: "Is that what your planning for your birthday present?"

Hikari: "I would love to! However I don't have the money for any expensive type cars... like the one I want..."

I took out the picture of the car I had seen that would not only protect us outside of it but also inside, it was all state of art protection but I didn't have the money for it.

Tristan: "Wow, that really is expensive."

Hikari: "Yea... it would have been the best present ever!"

I said smiling at them having no idea that Seto Kaiba was walking behind us out of the school gate so he was able to see the picture I had shown them but he just smirked knowing full well that I would never be able to afford it. However when we got to Burger World we were shocked to see Tea Gardner there working when it was forbidden for student's to get jobs but I knew she must have had a reason. I just smiled when I saw her but it seemed that she did so I was reserving my judgement but apparently she had already told the boys not to come so I sighed shaking my head.

Joey: "Hey Tea what's wrong?"

Tea: "Well, this is my part time job, I've been hiding it, but I need the money! After graduation I'm going to America! And I'll need money!"

Hikari: "That's amazing Tea! I know how you feel about things like this..."

Tea: "Really thanks Hikari! I'm going to study dancing in New York City! It's my dream! Don't laugh!"

Yugi: "We... we're not laughing... right? Huh? Joey!"

Joey: "Yea... Tea! Don't worry... we won't tell a soul! All it'll cost you is ten thousand burger's! And... these burgers have been ruined, take them away, or I won't pay! This place is awful!"

I just shook my head at them since if we hadn't come here there wouldn't have been a need for Tea to pour ketchup all over the burgers.

Tea: "Don't worry, they're on the house!"

Hikari: "Keep up the good work Tea! I'm cheering for you!"

Tea: "Thanks Hikari!"

I smiled as she left I guess to get us new food but I didn't really care it was nice hearing about someone else's dreams like this and being able to share it with them. We started talking about what Tea had told us about and I looked down at my deck box smiling knowing I wanted to go and start professionally dueling but I also knew that it required money which I didn't have. Well I did but I needed to get a car first so I could get to my appointment's rather than waiting on the bus to show and sometimes it's late. I tried doing that for a few times when I had decided that but I missed a bunch of opportunities because of the bus, so I stopped waiting for it to show up so I wouldn't be late anymore. I saved up the rest of the money I had earned from the tournament's that I had entered although thinking back I'm glad that none of them had Kaiba in them otherwise I might not have won. However just then this guy walks in with a gun to Tea telling us all to get on the floor after saying that Yugi would get him the things he wanted but when we went to get down someone behind me accidently hit me knocking me to the floor.

Hikari: "Kyaa!"

Yugi: "Kari-nee!"

Guy: "You get up here to cutie."

I froze when he said that but went to where I was on the other side of Tea not even bothering to put on a blindfold like he did for Tea as I just glared at him knowing if I didn't do what he wanted he would hurt Tea. However just as Yugi was bringing the stuff the guy wanted it must have dawned on Tea that it was Yugi who was bringing him the stuff since she stood up.

Tea: "Yugi... you picked Yugi?! Yugi! Get out of here before you get hurt!"

Hikari: "She's right Yugi! Please get outta here!"

Guy: "Shut up!"

Yugi: "Tea! Hikari!"

He then smacked both of us which had me glaring at him even more which seemed to make my violet eyes glow while a trail of blood streamed down the right side of my lips. However this seemed to trigger something with Yugi as his Millennium Puzzle lit up which surprised me since Yugi completely changed but he still had that kind look to his eyes. He was taller than before and the look in his eyes was firm and determined almost like a different person, I looked at him shocked but for some reason I wasn't scared anymore. It felt like I knew who this person was almost like we had meet before but I've never meet someone like this, but then I remembered the shadow and voice from the night I begged the puzzle to grant Yugi's wish! So I just smiled at him already knowing we would be alright so I pulled Tea closer to me so that when we got the opportunity we could run away from this guy.

Yugi: "Heh... That's what you ordered!"

Guy: "Why you... Did I say you could sit down?!"

Yugi: "Whaaaat... I thought I'd keep you company... if you've got the guts, how about we play a game?"

Guy: "A... G... Game?!"

I could tell that Tea was nervous, heck I still was, but I knew we could trust this guy who I was starting to think was a spirit from the Millennium Puzzle, but I knew it had to be more than that. So the guy agreed to play his game so Yugi told him what they would be doing but I was surprised when he lit the guys cigarette for him. Although I had to try and not laugh when Yugi placed the still lit lighter on top of the guys hand while he was pouring his drink since right then it overflowed out of the glass. Then I jumped slightly when I felt a hand on my shoulder and almost screamed but then another hand was placed over my mouth making me freeze, but I unthawed when I heard the voice.

Yugi: "It's alright Hikari, keep hold of Tea and let's go!"

I nodded doing just that as he helped pull us out of the booth and away from the guy as he was set on fire before being helped by the staff only to be arrested again shortly after. I sighed and quickly hugged this Yugi a few tears slipping from my eyes in relief that we were all still ok but I got a feeling we would be alright from now on.

Hikari: "Thank you."

Yugi: "I promised you I would protect them."

I pulled back smiling, but after that I noticed Yugi disappearing occasionally making me smile knowing he was helping a friend weather it was old or new which was just like him to consider everyone his friend. Although I was glad that he was helping out the people who Yugi felt as friends and that was ok with me as long as he was happy, I was as well plus I knew the spirit of the puzzle would keep him safe. The months rolled by without any of us knowing it, but then our birthday rolled around which had me happy since now we both had some new friends, which surprised me. I had figured they would just be friends with Yugi but they turned that on my head especially the spirit from the puzzle who I was calling Casper or Yami which meant darkness, since Yugi's friends became mine as well which I was thankful for. However when I was walking home from shopping one night I saw a young child with long black hair being forced into an alleyway which I didn't like. So I walked over to them smiling slightly before I walked into the alley way carefully while listening to what was being said which I didn't like to well so I stepped out of the darkness.

Hikari: "Excuse me, but I had plans with the little one."

Guy: "Get lost girly."

Hikari: "Sorry I'm late, little guy."

They actually took the bait since they came flying at me only for me to land them on their buts since I had taken a few karate classes with some of my old friends, mostly because their father was a teacher. He told me that I had a knack for it and was a black belt in only a few months which also had them distancing themselves from me. However once I was done I ran forward and grabbed the kid before taking off back out of the alley way, with my bags knowing they wouldn't be down for long, we hid in a shop as they ran by making me sigh as I looked at the young boy in my hands who looked up at me surprised but I just smiled. Then we saw someone run by who the kid seemed to recognize since he called out his name so we walked out of the shop with him calling to the guy named Roland.

Roland: "There you are! When we saw the guards knocked out we got worried."

Kid: "It's alright this nice lady helped me."

Hikari: "No problem you reminded me of my little brother with your spiky hair."

Kid: "Can I have your name?"

Hikari: "Sure! Its Hikari Muto."

Roland: "It's time to go young master."

Hikari: "See you around kid, try not to get kidnapped again ok!"

I said as I took off for home not even knowing that the little kid I had just saved was none other than Mokuba Kaiba and he told Seto everything that had happened that day. I didn't really want anything in return for helping him so I was glad that he would be ok but I had no idea what his brother had in store for me for helping his brother. The next few days were good and fun since our birthday was drawing near and I couldn't wait to see what grandpa would do this year for us since he always did something different. Although when we got home from school the day of our birthday I was shocked at what was sitting infront of our home, a brand-new car with a bow on it with a small envelope. So I walked over to it and pulled off the envelope looking at it curious since it was addressed to me so I opened it up and pulled out the letter that was inside it while also seeing the key for the car inside.

Hikari: "This is a small gift for you as a thank you for saving my little brother... you won't be able to return it since it's a gift from the 'little kid' you saved, well unless you want to hurt his feelings?... Seto Kaiba..."

I looked at the letter shocked and confused before I remembered the kid he was talking about before looking to the other's completely dumbfounded while they were looking at me curiously.

Yugi: "Who's it for?"

Hikari: "It's for me, I saved a little boy a few days ago but I never knew I was helping Kaiba's little brother... the car is from them..."

Everyone: "What?!"

I nodded handing them the letter so they could read it while pulling out the key surprised, I had already gotten my license years ago when I was able to and I kept it up so I could drive when I got my car.

Yugi: "Are you going to keep it?"

Hikari: "Yea... I don't want to hurt the ki-ah I mean Mokuba... he reminded me of you, Yugi, when we were young..."

Yugi: "Ok! It sounds like he doesn't want anything in return but be careful."

I nodded as I pulled off the pretty bow before taking it inside while letting grandpa know about my new car, he didn't like it any more than we did but he understood about why I didn't want to take it back. I went back out and unlocked the car before getting into it smiling slightly seeing that I would be able to drive us all around unless we had grandpa with us, but I guess we could squeeze everyone in. I started looking around smiling but that's when I noticed something in the console and opened it up and was shocked when I saw a bunch of money inside. I looked at it confused before I saw the card and pulled it out slightly nervous knowing it had to be from Seto again.

Hikari: "Now what? ...Why did he give me all this money?"

Card: 'There is a tournament coming up, I've seen you play in other one's but I'll be in this one. So I want a good opponent other than those loser's so I want you to enter into the tournament. I've already sent in your application, use this money as a means to get a good deck so we can at least have a good duel. Seto Kaiba.'

Hikari: "That jerk! I knew this was too good to be true!"

Yugi: "What's wrong Hikari?"

Hikari: "Kaiba entered me into the tournament he's in so we can have a duel! He just wants a good opponent and think's I can give it to him after he saw my other tournament games..."

Joey: "Wow! What's with the money?"

I just glared at him while Yugi told everyone, including grandpa, about what happened which had everyone both mad and upset that Kaiba would do something like this without my permission.

Solomon: "Enter into it Hikari, enter and teach him about the Heart of the Cards."

Joey: "Yea! Beat that slimeball!"

I just smiled at everyone before nodding seeing not only them but also my monster cards nodding as if saying that I should do this and that they were ready for the challenge.

Hikari: "Alright I'll do it!"

Then I grabbed the bag grandpa went inside to get before I started putting the money inside it knowing I didn't need to buy new cards I had faith in those I had which had me smiling. Once I had finished with the inside of the car I turned to the trunk gulping while hoping there wasn't any more surprises although I was proven wrong yet again. I groaned dropping to the ground on my knees while everyone ran over to see what was going on, inside the trunk were a bunch of suitcases like the ones Seto always carries around. I sighed as I got up and pulled one out setting it down on the ground before I opened it only to gasp; since inside it was a bunch of card's. I quickly closed it before pulling out another to see the same thing, although in three of them I saw something that stopped me. Inside one of them was a bunch of cloths, while the second one had shoes - dress shoes, while the third had accessories to go with the cloths.

Hikari: "Ok what in the heck is he thinking?!"

Tea: "They might be for the tournament?"

Yugi: "Kari-nee look!"

My head shot up as I saw what he was pointing at, on the hood of my trunk was another card so I got up and pulled it off taking a deep breath I opened it up and looked at it.

Hikari: "After seeing some of the clothes you wear around town, I have to say you don't have anything presentable for the tournament so I took the liberty of getting you something for it. After all it wouldn't be fun if my best opponent looked like they were dirt poor. Seto Kaiba."

Tea: "He really doesn't know how to treat a girl does he?!"

Hikari: "Nope, but I'll be glad to be the one to teach him about it!"

I said smiling while looking mad then everyone helped me bring in the suitcases while I shut the trunk before locking up my brand-new car still smiling since it had been the one I had wanted to get. I started wondering how Kaiba even knew about it but placed it in the back of my mind so I could enjoy our birthday especially since grandpa put in a lot of hard work to do it.
