Chapter 3 - Meeting Shadi
I smiled noticing everyone having fun at our birthday even Yami who I had been speaking with a lot lately, mostly mind-to-mind, since no one but me could see or hear him right now. I knew I would have to tell Yugi but right now we both knew that the time wasn't right to tell him about this so we kept quiet, waiting for the right time Then a few days later, grandpa took us to the museum to see an exhibit that a friend of his had done and we were all really excited about seeing it with him which made him really happy. We were all waiting outside since grandpa said his friend would meet us there which made me happy since he was going to see his friend again.
Guy: "Muto!"
Solomon: "Ho, ho... here he is."
Guy: "It's been awhile! Good to see you!"
Solomon: "Thank you for inviting us to your show! Let me introduce you! This is professor Yoshimori."
Yoshimori: "Pleased to meet you."
Joey: "Whoa! You're famous! You're the guy who found the pharaoh's tomb!"
Hikari: "It's nice to meet you to."
Solomon: "Who's this...?"
Yoshimori: "Ah, yes! This is the owner of the museum. He provided the grant for the excavation and is sponsoring this exhibit."
Guy: "Kanekura's the name! Welcome to my museum!"
I don't know what it was but something about this guy gave me the creeps which I didn't like at all as I clenched my fists while he talked to Yoshimori about something.
Yoshimori: "Muto... you told me that your grandson solved the Millennium Puzzle..."
Solomon: "Ho, ho... I did tell you that, didn't I..."
Yugi: "Huh?"
Yoshimori: "That's it! The Legendary Millennium Puzzle?!"
Kanekura: "You must show it to me! T... This is wonderful! Such an important piece of pharaonic history... and it's hanging around your neck!"
Yoshimori: "Kanekura makes his living in the art business, he has an eye for antiquities!"
Hikari: "That's nice but we're not going to be selling it anytime soon."
Kanekura: "Yugi, I beg you! People have to see this! Let me display it at the show!"
Yugi: "Whaa?!"
Kanekura: "Please!"
Yugi: "W-Well... how about just for one day?"
Kanekura: "Oh... Sure! One day is plenty!"
Then we were let into the exhibit which was really cool I liked looking at all the exhibits that people have found throughout the world but I wish they would at least leave something to show their respect to the dead. While everyone was with Yoshimori I kinda seperated from the group by accident while looking at all the treasure's not even realizing I was crying a little since they practically stole this from the pharaoh. I was so distracted by the artifact's that I didn't see the person in front of me until I ran into him but neither of us fell, instead he had wrapped his arm around me to keep me from falling.
Hikari: "I am so sorry! I didn't hurt you did I?"
Guy: "No, you didn't...your necklace..."
Hikari: "Hmm? Oh, my grandfather brought it back on one of his expeditions, from what he told me everyone there thought it would be good with me so he brought it home for me."
Guy: "They were right, that necklace belonged to a very powerful Egyptian God by the name of Horakhty, she was the God of Light, she left that behind so people would always remember that light can defeat the darkness."
Hikari: "Thank you, grandfather could never find out what it was used for, I'll make sure to send a prayer up to her to thank her for letting me keep it, although I'm not sure if I'll be able to protect it..."
Guy: "Do not fret little one, the necklace will not be stollen, Horakhty made sure that only her chosen vessel would be able to wear it, no one can steal it from you, you can show it to them but that is all."
Hikari: "Thank you mister... I want to visit Egypt one day so I can see the beauty of what those of the past have left behind, it's why I like coming to museum's like this to look at the treasure left behind by those who have passed... but..."
Guy: "What is it child?"
Hikari: "I wish they would at least offer something in return for their finding's to those there trespassing against... it would make me feel better at least."
Guy: 'Hmm this girl she has true kindness within... as well as the gods love... her cards feel a deep connection with her and feel the need to protect her... who is this child?'
Hikari: "Well, I'll offer up a prayer when I see the pharaoh so hopefully he will be able to rest in peace... although I'm not sure it'll do much good after all I wouldn't be able to with all this going on..."
Guy: "Don't worry child, once everything is done they might return the pharaoh to his tomb."
Hikari: "Really?! That would be good."
Guy: "My name is Shadi, may I know yours?"
Hikari: "Sure, it's Hikari Muto, it's nice to meet you Shadi, maybe if I visit Egypt you can show me around?"
Shadi: "We will see little one."
I smiled at him as he left before I went to the pharaoh's corpse and doing like I had promised Shadi I sent up a small prayer for the pharaoh hoping he/she finds peace. I wasn't sure if the pharaoh was a boy or girl since I didn't know if women could become pharaoh's or if they had a different name they used for them. Then I set off to find the others to see them taking a picture in front of the Puzzle in its case with them in front of it which made me smile.
Yugi: "Hikari! Come take a picture with us!"
Hikari: "Ok!"
I said as I walked over to them and sat down in front of the display while I had Yugi and grandpa on my left and Tristan and Joey on my right I smiled right at Tea who was taking the picture for us. I knew grandpa would frame it and put it up for us once we got home after it was printed off so we would be able to remember this day.
Hikari: "Grandpa you can stop looking for what my necklace is."
Solomon: "Oh?"
Hikari: "Yea I ran into a man by the name of Shadi who came from Egypt, he said that my necklace had belonged to a very powerful Egyptian God by the name of Horakhty, she was the God of Light, she left it behind so people would always remember that light can defeat the darkness."
Yugi: "Wow, I met him earlier he was crying in front of the pharaoh."
Hikari: "You would to, if you were taken from your grave only to be put on display never finding peace again."
Yoshimori: "I didn't know that... I didn't want to bring the mummy back but Kazunari wouldn't hear of it... I'll go say my apologies to him right now! Once this is over I'll contact the Egyptian government to send the Pharaoh's body back to his tomb."
Hikari: "Thank you Mr. Yoshimori! I'm sure that the pharaoh will like that!"
I said hugging him smiling brightly, not knowing that Shadi was watching us which made him smile knowing I was helping the pharaoh get home with just my own words.
Shadi: 'Hmm, maybe she has the guardian's blood in her, I will have to ask when I return to Egypt.'
Once we went through the whole exhibit we walked outside enjoying the fresh air and I was happy that Mr. Yoshimori was going to send the mummy back to Egypt once the exhibit was over.
Tea: "Ah! That was fun!"
Joey: "I wish I could go to Egypt!"
Solomon: "Ho, ho... professor Yoshimori! Thank you so much for today!"
Yoshimori: "It's my pleasure! Why don't you come to my lab sometime and I'll show you even more. Well, I have to get back to the university..."
Everyone: "Good-bye!"
Tea: "What do you want to do now?"
Yugi: "I'll wait here until the museum closes! I want my puzzle back before I go home!"
Solomon: "We'll be off to! I have to get back to the store."
Hikari: "I'm staying with Yugi."
Joey: "Then we'll split up here!"
Yugi: "See you tomorrow!"
Hikari: "Bye!"
We watched as everyone left before I leaned against the pillar smiling at Yugi, I didn't want to leave him alone, but I did see how bored he was so I smiled at him already having an idea about what to do.
Yugi: "4:30... 30 minutes left..."
Hikari: "Hey did you bring your deck?"
Yugi: "Yea?"
Hikari: "Wanna battle to pass the time?"
His face lit up so we pulled out our cards and started battling making me happy and once I won the duel we noticed it was about time for the museum to close so we got up putting our cards away.
Yugi: "All right! The museum is about to close! Time to get my puzzle back!"
I smiled at him as we started walking through the museum to try and find the puzzle, but to my surprise we ran into Shadi only thing was he was missing the feather on his turban. Yugi asked him about the puzzle or if he knew where Kanekura was at but it seemed that something shocked Shadi as he looked at Yugi so I walked up to him smiling.
Hikari: "Hi, Shadi is something wrong?"
He didn't answer me but just closed his eyes making me look at him confused but a second later he was kneeling down in front of us which had me worried but he just smiled at me.
Yugi: "Hey! Are you alright?"
Hikari: "Are you ok? You look pale?"
Yugi: "You closed your eyes and stopped moving..."
Shadi: "Yes... I'm alright... you are a strange boy... Oh... I almost forgot... If I'm not mistaken... This is yours..."
I smiled at Shadi as he pulled out the Millennium Puzzle from within his robes before holding it out to Yugi who smiled and took it from him putting it around his head smiling happily.
Yugi: "So that's it! You had it! Thank you!"
Shadi: "Heh, heh... you don't need to thank me! I am already in your debt..."
Yugi: "Huh? Debt... did I loan you something?!"
Shadi: "It was the other you."
I froze when he said that wondering how he had known about him and Shadi just looked at me shocked but I quickly hid it away or at least tried to but he just smiled while Yugi tried to laugh it off.
Shadi: "Boy... what's your name..."
Yugi: "I'm Yugi! Not boy! Yugi!"
Hikari: "This is my little brother."
Shadi: "Yugi... There is something you must do... you must discover your other self!"
Yugi: "Huh?"
Shadi: "And you must solve the riddle of the power of the Millennium Puzzle... the puzzle that was hidden for three thousand years! That is the destiny of the one who solves the puzzle... that is your duty. My name is Shadi. This is the second time I've ever told it to anyone. Heh, heh, heh.. There is one more person I must place on trial... One more man who defiled the territory of the gods, the valley of the kings..."
I looked at him shocked wondering what he meant by that but knew this was something that had to happen only those with pure hearts may pass the trials of the gods. I looked down completely shocked wondering how I knew that wondering what was happening to me but when I saw Yugi's worried face in front of me before I smiled knowing he was worried about me.
Hikari: "Alright, you've got the puzzle back so let's head home... I'm glad I didn't bring my car; it'll be a good walk home it'll clear our heads."
He nodded as we headed home smiling while talking about what we had just seen and heard while I kept looking back seeing Yami walking behind us making me happy.
Hikari: 'How did he know about you Yami?'
Yami: 'I'll explain after Yugi goes to bed.'
Hikari: 'Ok.'
However once we got home grandpa walked in with something which had me glaring once I saw the front of it... it was something from the tournament but I opened it up.
Solomon: "What is it?"
Hikari: "It's about the tournament, it shows who my first opponent is, the rules, and about when it starts as well as a few other things..."
Yugi: "Good luck Hikari!"
I nodded smiling knowing I could easily beat them so I headed up to my room to start looking through the clothes Seto gave me to see what I should wear but then I saw a dress that made me smile. It looked a lot like the Blue-Eye's White Dragon, it was one of the few cards I would love to battle with but I knew I couldn't since Seto had three of them. I pulled it out and hanged it up on the hook I have on my wall near my door before pulling out a set of dark blue heels that became lighter as they went up. I then went to where I had placed all the accessories Seto got me sighing, I had to pretty much buy a couple huge jewelry boxes to hold them all, I half wanted to customize a big enough one. I looked through all the accessories picking out some pieces that were blue while putting them near my dress sighing, I had my first duel the next day. So I was looking through my deck making sure I had all the cards I needed for my duel against a kid named Mian Trano which I knew would be easy. I looked over to see Yami enter into my room and smiled at him which he returned smiling as he walked over and sat down next to me on my bed. We had found out that he was able to leave the puzzle within a fifty-foot area so we knew he could travel around the house easily so we could still talk even if Yugi was downstairs and I was upstairs.
Yami: "Shadi entered into Yugi's mind using a Millennium Item, he said he was there to test the owner of the Puzzle, he never thought I would be the one to test him, only to help him when he was almost lost to the shadows."
Hikari: "So that's why he said he owed Yugi..."
Yami: "Yes... I'm glad you finally have some answer's about your necklace though."
Hikari: "Thanks Yami."
Yami: "Now get some sleep you'll need it tomorrow."
I nodded sighing as I fell asleep after setting my clock so I would get up with enough time to get ready which I did smiling although I had to admit Seto had good taste. I also had to admit that I looked a lot like the Blue-eyes right now which was kinda cool, I grabbed my keys which now also held the key to my car as I headed down to the kitchen after strapping on my duel deck to my dress which made it look like it belonged there. I said bye to grandpa since Yugi was at school before I headed over to my car and getting in before taking off to the tournament but I did leave my purse in the car. I took out my ID and placed it in a small pouch I had customed into my box. However when I did exit I was shocked to see Seto at the door waiting, but all he did was smile before walking into the building, although I did see a small blush which had me smiling.
Hikari: 'Good maybe now he'll remember how to treat girls.'
I thought before I entered into the building drawing a lot of unwanted attention my way which had me sighing knowing Seto was the reason for this so I sent a glare his way. Once I was done with registration I was told to wait for the opening ceremony so I walked in a took a seat but I groaned as Seto sat down next to me.
Seto: "I see you liked my gift."
Hikari: "I did, but you have a long way to go to think this will put you in my good graces."
Seto: "I don't need to be, but I will tell Mokuba that you kept his gift."
Hikari: "Why was he out alone to begin with Kaiba? Don't you value your family? If it was my little brother I'd put a tracker on him if it kept up..."
Seto: "Not a bad idea..."
Hikari: "Why sit here? I thought you hated my family?"
Seto: "It's mostly to keep you safe for when we duel, I know you've felt all the stares pointed at you."
Hikari: "Yes I know, it's mostly your fault for sending clothes like this. However you don't need to worry about me I can take care of myself, just ask your brother."
He smiled when I said that just before one of the other boys dared to walk over only for me to turn him down before telling him to get lost he wasn't worth my time, Seto on the other hand was but I'm not telling him that.
Seto: "Keep yourself ready for when we duel."
Hikari: "I will but remember Seto I'm only in this to battle you so you'd better stay or I'm out."
He just smiled at me while I closed my eyes listening as the duel played out before it was my turn so I walked up to the stage sighing waiting for it to bring me up while shuffling my cards already bored. Just like I had figured before the kid was an easy mark so I finished it way to easily before we were lowered back down to the ground. It kept up like that for a few days until it was close to the finals but Seto did something that really ticked me off, he came to our house and tried to get grandpa to sell his most treasured card. However when grandpa refused Seto practically dragged him to KaibaCorp to battle but once I heard this I gritted my teeth since I couldn't leave due to my promise with Seto. Although I did wind up dropping out when Seto himself did the same after Yugi had beat him, grandpa and Yugi both knew I had only entered because of Kaiba so they understood why I dropped out after I told them about the promise between us. It was a few days later when Joey practically begged grandpa to teach him how to duel although he bungled it at first but grandpa agreed with it in the end. It was about two days after that when grandpa brought in two small boxes while we were watching the last duel of the tournament I had been forced into.
Joey: "Dueling dino's v/s dueling bugs?"
Yugi: "It would have been Kaiba and Hikari in the final if Seto hadn't dropped out."
Tea: "Why didn't you keep going Hikari?"
Hikari: "Because I had a bet with Kaiba that if he left so would I since I was only there to battle him as he wished."
Solomon: "She's right, and these came for you, Yugi, Hikari."
Hikari: "From who?"
We said getting up and going over to him before taking them over to the couch sighing wondering why Industrial Illusion's would be sending us packages since we haven't ordered anything from them. While everyone else watched the match I pulled my package close to me and opened it curiously but was shocked when I saw a red glove with a white band with what looked like stars imprinted into the hand. There were also two stars just below it, although I was drawn away from my box when I heard Joey gave out a surprised shout at Weevil beating Rex. Then grandpa looked at Yugi's box reminding him about it while I went back to mine to see a letter but I was surprised when I lifted it up to see the back of a card. When I picked it up I felt that there was more than one so I picked up all of them before turning them over only to gasp.
Yugi: "What's wrong?"
Hikari: "There's duel monster cards in mine... Dark Magician King, Queen Dark Magician Girl, and Magician's Unite... but I have no idea why he sent them to me... and I've never seen them before."
I looked up at them confused showing them the cards I now had in my hands but everyone just seemed worried even Yami but I knew there was something else to this. So I picked up the letter that had come with it before opening it and reading it's content's sighing before putting it to the side while I saw Yugi going to the tv with a vhs. So I put my box next to his with the letter inside as I went and sat down next to Yugi with the three card's still in my hands. I was shocked when we saw Maximillion Pegasus appear on the screen surprising everyone especially when he started talking to us like it was a video call.
