Toothless point of view
Alastor knew he shouldn't stray too close to the forest, but he was worried about his human. So much had happened in such a short period, and reseeing the Queen's nest had rattled the black dragon.
'How could I have been so relaxed to be unaware of where I was flying' Alastor thought, pacing the area between the sea cove and the forest.' I placed the humans and Herradura in danger.' The dragon growled to himself. How long had he been a prisoner in the Queen's nest? How could he be so reckless?
"Boy, you must stop worrying," Herradura purred, sunbathing on top of the rocky cove.
"How can you not be worrying. The Queen knows we are alive. What if she comes here?" Alastor shouted, pacing, his wings twitching in agitation.
"The Queen has her size, which may make her formidable. However, flying to Berk would take too much energy for even her to do. Imagine moving a mountain across the sea. It isn't worth it for her to come here." Herradura lowered her head, an image of relaxation. If it wasn't for the sharp eyes watching the younger dragon, Alastor would have assumed she was asleep.
"She moved to kill my pack," Alastor whispered harshly.
Herradura closed her eyes in pain, trying to shield the memories of their packs slaughtered from her mind. The Queen's pack took over Alastor's pack killing every Night fury in the nest. The Queen left Alastor alive with a laugh, taunting the dragon that she wouldn't kill off the rest of the dragons in his nest if he followed orders. Herradura was there when Alastor's pack was killed, and although she did not participate in the takeover, the sins of the deed still clung to her scale. The blood splatted on the earth, the bodies of a family torn apart. Herradura watched as a tiny hatchling struggled to survive in the Queen's lair while trying to keep what little of his pack survived the initial attack and absorption into the Queen's forces. However, Alastor's original pack mates dwindled smaller and smaller, some due to Viking attacks and others due to competing dragons within the Queen's nest.
"Yes, she did," Herradura painfully agreed, "which is why she cannot move so far so soon."
"I'm still worried. What if she sends soldiers to attack the village? What if she comes for Halla?" Alastor sank his claws into the ground, trying to calm himself from all the what-ifs.
"If she decided to come for Halla, she would need to get through all those Vikings to get here. Believe it or not, Halla being in the village is the safest she can be from the Queen." Herradura expanded her wings, trying to absorb as much sun as possible. It was odd for this group of misfits to stay out of trouble for so long.
"Safest" The young dragon shook his head "when is Halla ever safe. You've seen Halla how stressed she's been these last few days."
Herradura gave a little grin. "It's good that those boys have been here to help her."
Alastor paused, eyes turning to slit. "Those boys," a growl ripped from the dragon's thought. Alastor wasn't sure if those boys could be trusted.
The Night Fury was going to argue his case when a scream echoed into the trees. Toothless ear plates shoot up, and panic floods his system. "That was Halla."
"Alastor," Herradura shouted, watching the Night Fury listen. "Alastor, don't," but it was too late. The black dragon started to take off. Herradura chased after the young dragon "Alastor, no" Herradura's size gave her a disadvantage in the forest. Still, the sleek black dragon did not seem to have that problem as he zoomed effortlessly through the trees taking to the air in short bursts to increase the distance between the larger dragon.
The Night Fury busted out of the tree line, "Alastor doesn't do this," but Herradura's roars were ignored, and Herradura stopped herself. She could not be seen, and she would need to be free to save her young, stupid dragon from the trouble he would undoubtedly find.
Alastor didn't care that he was entering danger. He didn't care who saw him. Halla was in trouble; if the roars were anything to go on, it was with another dragon. All Alastor could think of was Halla going against Vulfiend alone. "She can't face them alone' The Night Fury pushed himself to go faster.
The dragon unleashed his signature scream feeling the fire rise up into his throat. Alastor hears, "Night Fury! Get down!" but doesn't care as he sees Halla fighting another dragon alone. Alastor knew they couldn't trust those human boys to protect his rider.
Halla's point of view
Halla wasn't sure what was happening. She knew Ash had entered the arena to help her but couldn't reach her father by the doorway. The last thing Halla could hear was her father shouting her name before hearing the familiar shriek that made her heart stop.
'He can't be here,' Halla thought, 'there is no way.'
A blast from the chain enclosure and a bomb of smoke covers the arena. Halla has a million thoughts going through her head. 'Why, why was Toothless here?'
Halla can hear the sounds of shouts and thunderous feet moving. 'Moving to capture Toothless,' Halla thought, trying to gain her bearing in the smoke. The smoke started dissipating, a flurry of wings cutting the smoke in swift strikes. Toothless and the Nightmare were locked in a vicious fight, teeth and claws fully exposed. Toothless kicks the Nightmare off and throws himself between the new dragon and Halla. The Nightmare was larger, snarling and trying to circle the pair, but Toothless lunged and gave a fierce roar. The Nightmare paused and relented as it backed away.
Halla rushes to Toothless, grabbing his face. "Alright, Toothless, go. Get out of here!" Halla was trying to get Toothless to move, pushing him. Toothless wouldn't move, though, "Toothless, please," Halla whispered, starting to see the crowd of Vikings move.
"Night Fury," "Get the dragons," "Hurry," "Grab the weapons."
Shouts were resounding outside the arena. "Please, Toothless, move, go," Halla whispered, trying to push the dragon. Viking began to pour through the enclosure and started dropping into the ring.
"Please, please" Halla was close to tears; she needed the dragon to get out of there.
"Take it alive," Skulluim shouted, entering the arena with a shield.
Stoick grabbed an axe and charged into the arena. "Chief Stoick, wait," Ash says, moving in front of his leader. Stoick doesn't give the boy any recognition as he pushes the teen out of his way.
Halla knows that the chance of escaping is nearly impossible. She had to get her father to listen to her. "Dad! No! He won't hurt you! Please just let me explain." The Vikings started to attack Toothless, who through the humans aside like rag dolls. Toothless eyes focused solely on Stoick.
"No, don't! Stop it! You're only making it worse!" Halla grabs Stoick's arm, trying to get her father to drop the axe.
Stoick was focused on the dragon in front of him that he shook Halla off as if she wasn't even there, causing the girl to fall. Toothless growls, a roar erupting as Stoick raises his hammer and charges at the black dragon. Toothless ducks the large man and pounces on him. The two tumble one after the other trying to get the advantage. "Toothless! Stop" Halla wasn't sure who she was more scared for.
The two tumble until finally, Toothless pins Stoick. Toothless hisses as the gas build in his throat. Gasps erupted from the other Vikings, Halla feeling dread in her stomach, watching as Stoick grunted, still trying to get the dragon off him.
"Noo" Halla shouts as loud as she can. Toothless stops swallowing back the blast and turns around to Halla, confused. This human pushed his rider. This human was dangerous. How could he not handle this now?
"Get him!" The Vikings move, rushing in, trying to pile on Toothless. Toothless is trying to shake the Vikings off but was slowly getting overpowered.
Suddenly an arrow burst through, stopping other Vikings from joining the fray. "That enough," Gabriel shouted; an arrow is drawn back, "back away slowly, or the next arrow won't be a warning." With the distraction, Toothless could throw off the offending Vikings with growls.
"Gabriel, what are you doing?" Halla shouted, feeling her nerves fray.
"Halla takes Toothless and get out quick," Gabriel shouts, watching the other Vikings, knowing that it was only a surprise that got them this far. Too many people with weapons for his little arrows to handle.
"Gabriel, but the arrows down," Halla could hear her aunt shout, but Gabriel ignored his captain's words.
"Boy, do you know who you're pointing your arrows at" Stoick boasted, no one really sure who to watch, the dragon or the outsider with a loaded arrow.
"Halla go," Gabriel rushed, gazing over the arena and feeling the Vikings closing in on them.
"Toothless go," Halla whispered to the dragon next to her, trying to shove the dragon out. The giant reptile simply wrapped Halla around himself, growling with his own hackles up. "We have to go now." Halla leaped onto the dragon's back, knowing their chances of escape were disappearing.
Toothless growled, his wings expanding, but the dragon wanted to go another round with the human who came at him with a hammer. Toothless swung his wings, batting two Vikings away from the pair. Just as Toothless leaped for the arena wall, Halla felt rather than saw something wrap around her throat, pulling her back.
"Ugh," Halla grabbed a rope on her throat, stopping it from completely cutting the air out of her lungs. "Tooth..less…r…un" Halla gasped before hitting the ground with a thud pain exploded in Halla's back. Halla clawed at her throat, trying to loosen the rope only to feel herself dragged further, landing at Skulluim's feet.
"Skull-ugh" Skulluim tightened the rope.
"Be silent. You've done enough, girl." Skulluim was imposing, hovering over Halla, his eyes showing just how betrayed the older Viking felt
Halla could hear Toothless roar and Gabriel shouting her name, but her vision was darkening, and breathing was impossible.
