Summary of first 15 chapters from Making Relationships Work

Chapter 1

Two weeks since Gettleman Pitch. Walter fired Flo 48 minutes after pitch was over. He kept to himself working in the garage. Paige had contacted him about a week after the fight and told him about CP. Ralph got to spend the day with Walter working on a project for Richard Elia.

Walter and Paige talked for a little after she came to pick Ralph up.

CP had been struggling and after a month of being in business had lost a total of 5000 dollars. Toby of course was trying to take a leadership role at CP even though they were supposed to be equal partners. He also had not been very nice to Paige in the way he talked to her about her role in CP.

Chapter 2

Paige was attending a seminar called Making Relationships Work. She was sitting in the crowd waiting for the seminar to start when the main speaker Dr. Julia Mays wound up calling Walter on stage to help him with his broken relationship after she realizes he saved her nephew Owen from being buried in the sinkhole at Zuma beach.

Walter tells her about himself and how he came to meet Pa… his girlfiend who he wants to try and fix his relationship with. No matter what he needs to divulge about himself. He goes on to say how amazing he thinks she is over and over again all the while Paige is in the audience getting to hear what he is saying about her.

Chapter 3

More of the same. He runs through the almost four years of their relationship talking all about how he always loved her but was unable to tell her. Tahoe. Space. Firing Paige. His dream. Dr. Mays had a different interpretation of the dream and asked Walter if he had planned on asking Paige to marry him, and he admitted to it. Shocking Paige who was realizing how bad she over reacted to everything.

Chapter 4

We find out Walter had actually picked out a ring for her with his sister a few years ago before she had passed away, it was the last thing they did together. He discusses the fight and everything that was said to him that night. As well as all the things leading up to the breakup. Walter defended Paige as the crowd responded to what was said that night. After a short break, Dr. Mays goes through their relationship and tries to help him understand what was going on. Walter confesses he was looking into finding them a condo to move into as well as looking into adopting Ralph.

Chapter 5

Walter gives his reaction to that night and thinks that maybe Paige overreacted to some things because of all the information that was kept from her and everything she discovered that night. Paige is shaking her head in approval in the crowd. He starts taking questions from the crowd and giving honest answers to all of them. Again Paige gets to hear just how much he truly loves her and only her. We also find out Florence is in the crowd when she stands up to tell everyone her take on everything and again reiterates that nothing happened between them. The last question asked for the seminar was about what kept Walter from dating Paige earlier and he says he didn't think he was worth the risk to her.

Chapter 6

"Yes You were" Paige yelled out from the crowd letting him know t hat she was there and she thought he was worth the risk. Walter raced to her and hugged her as everyone cheered on. The rest of the chapter is spent between Walter and Paige talking about everything that was said in the seminar.

Chapter 7

More of the same. They talk about all the missed opportunities they had. Walter also informed her that the Beauchamp job was listed again after Toby tried to get more money from him basically voiding the contract he had with CP.

Chapter 8

Day 2 of the seminar and the two of them went together. They talk to Florence and clear the air on any misunderstand between them. Florence did tell them that she had been talking to Sly the past couple of weeks which was also news to them. Walter goes with Paige to pick up Ralph and he is of course beyond happy to see them together again.

Chapter 9

Paige goes to confront CP about all the information that was kept from her and Walter goes with her although he waits in the car at first so she can talk to the 3 of them by herself. She tells them she went to a seminar and Walter and her reconnected after he went on stage and talked. None of them could believe he had done that. We find out that Toby told Sly not to say anything about him and Flo hanging out which infuriated Paige even more. Paige resigns from CP and then has Walter come in to talk to them. He gives Happy and Sly their patents and is very nice to them and Toby of course is standoffish with him.

Chapter 10

Walter meets with Richard about the work he was doing for him on his rocket engine. Paige is nack working with Scorpion and Walter. They also inform Ralph that he is going to be the summer intern at Scorpion and get to work with them.

Chapter 11

Walter shows Paige a beach house that belongs to Richard and could be theirs as part of the compensation he could get from the improvements made to the rocket engine. He insisted that half of the compensation belonged to Ralph for the help he gave him. They negotiate back and forth and wind up settling on the house and 7 million in cash. Split three ways between Walter, Paige and Ralph. He tells Ralph he wants to be "partners forever" with him.

Chapter 12

Walter takes Paige on a romantic date to the fanciest restaurant in LA and then dancing and to a 5 star hotel. A week after the seminar they are officially back together. Walter and Paige call Drew and discuss the possibility of Walter adopting Ralph.

Chapter 13

Walter prepares breakfast in bed for Paige and she is joined by Ralph as well. They take him to see the beach house but they don't tell him they are in the process of buying it, wanting to keep it a surprise to him. CP begins work on the Beauchamp job for considerably less than originally agreed upon because the meddling of Toby.

Chapter 14

Paige meets up with Happy for lunch. Paige tells her how Walter and ralph had been working on a major breakthrough. Happy was glad for them. CP realizes they are not doing what they want to be doing and are going to close down the company after they finish the Beauchamp job. Toby confesses how he has been with information he has given both Walter and Paige over the years. Drew calls back and agrees to let Walter adopt Ralph.

Chapter 15

There is a fire at the job site and CP is in trouble. Toby flees the building leaving Happy and Sly trapped inside. Scorpion shows up and Walter rushes inside and figures out how to save both of them with the help of Paige, Ralph and Cabe. All the while Toby is a major distraction. At the hospital Ralph tells Sly that he hopes he can someday be as smart and brave as Walter so he can help people like he does. Paige overhears the conversation.
