Chapter 34
Dancing Animals
After getting over the familiar feeling of teleportation, Naruto and his group stayed in a small Inn in the port town. Naruto took 4 rooms and gave everyone a separate room.
He and Sirius would stay in one, Natsu and Happy in another one while Gray chose to have 1 for himself and the last one for Kagura.
Though she rejected at first, upon some more nudging, she took with gratitude. Naruto understood why she is reluctant as they dragged her like a prisoner or some wrongdoer, which she is not.
They agreed to meet the next morning after breakfast to discuss things and what to do next. The night went by smoothly while everyone took a much-needed rest.
Natsu was quiet for some reason as he looked after a sleeping Happy, who immediately slept after eating dinner on the Island.
He is just resting, Naruto assured his fellow Dragon Slayer and Natsu nodded not replying, his concern for the feline buddy evident in his eyes.
Next Day
As the next day approached, everyone woke up and after completing their daily routines and breakfast, assembled in Gray's room as it had more space to talk.
"So, what are we going to talk about?" Natsu asked cheerfully as Happy is doing fine and is currently eating a fish Naruto gave him.
"Isn't it obvious? Just want to know who she is and what is with that sword," said Gray giving a side glance to Archenemy.
"So Kagura, can you explain how all this started?" Naruto asked as he sat opposite her. They made a makeshift table and sat around it.
Naruto and Kagura on the opposite sides, Sirius and Gray to his right while Happy and Natsu sat to his left. Kagura stared straight towards the blonde as if assessing him.
"It's a long story. But when I was roaming across a beach in a village, I was dragged into the cave where you came and found the sword," she simply explained.
Naruto raised his eyebrows at that and nudged her with his hand to continue. "I felt being called by the sword and took it. I know it's different. I can feel it. A small book was there beside the sword and I read through it and learnt many things about the sword, Archenemy. Its power and how to handle it. But one thing stood out. Not to unsheathe it.
It took me a few days to understand what was going on as I stayed in the cave for that time. I was curious to try to unsheathe it but didn't want to as it was stressed not to. The main thing I wanted to know is what happens when Archenemy is unsheathed, but Marsh came then.
He was nice in the beginning. He asked me to hand over the sword. I didn't agree. He said many things about it and how it is unlucky. But I didn't budge. Frustrated, he ordered his men to forcefully take Archenemy from me.
We started to fight for it. I thought I knocked all his men, didn't think they were hiding. Because of my practice, I adapted to the sword well. You know what happened after that. That fool unsheathed it and if not for your sword and timely intervention, it would have been a disaster." She concluded and Naruto mulled over it for a minute.
"What did you eat all that time?" Happy asked.
"I found some fish and anything edible," she replied to the blue cat and Happy nodded joyfully.
"What do you want to do now?" Naruto asked, taking the discussion forward. Gray and Sirius leaned closer, interested.
"I want to find my brother. We got separated when we were younger," Kagura said, gripping Archenemy tightly. Naruto observed the myriad of emotions Kagura's face went through.
"Do you know where he is?"
"No. I'm searching for him."
"What will you do when you find him?"
"That's none of your business," she replied sharply and the air in the room changed.
"Woah, Woah, calm down. I don't want to destroy this hotel," Naruto said, making a calming gesture and she loosened her grip after a sharp look at him. He can understand it is a touchy subject.
"Do you have any photos or anything to identify your brother?" Naruto asked and her cold expression said it all. Before she can react, he is on her, stopping her from making any move.
"Listen, I don't want to make this uncomfortable for you. But I want to know if there is any way I can help you, that's it. I didn't dream that every question I ask will be a touchy one." He said, restraining her.
Kagura couldn't move and couldn't touch Archenemy as Naruto knew full well how dangerous the sword was. After a second, she nodded to free her and Naruto slowly did.
"I want to help, that's it," Naruto said in an apologetic tone and she nodded blankly.
"You don't know where your brother is, don't know how he is and whether he is al-" Natsu was smacked by Gray at that.
"The hell!" Natsu exclaimed at that.
"He meant you don't know where he lives and you are searching?" Gray continued and Kagura nodded.
"Not to sound discouraging, but how long will you search alone?" Sirius intervened as Natsu bit Gray for smacking him and they started the fistfight.
"Till I find him." She replied sternly.
"Ok, how about this? We are going on an S-class job, come with us. After it is over, I'll take you to my Guild Master, he is a wise man who knows many things. He might help you?" Naruto offered. 'And I can't leave Archenemy alone after witnessing its destructive power,' Naruto thought internally.
"Why should I? I can go find my brother without your help," she retorted.
"Yes. But I can't leave you alone after seeing Marsh attack you in the cave. Who knows who else knows about Archenemy and come after you?" Naruto replied with a serious expression.
Seeing his seriousness and already knowing his power to go toe to toe with Archenemy, Kagura nodded in understanding and agreed to go along.
"Fine, I'll come. But I'm not going to do the S-class job with you." She said with finality and the group nodded.
"Ok, we are going to leave tomorrow. So take rest, guys. I have the job ready for you," said Naruto and everyone nodded and dispersed to relax.
Meanwhile,
Fairy Tail Guildhall
"What are you concerned about, Master?" Erza asked as she approached a deeply thinking Makarov.
"Nothing to worry about, Erza. It's been more than a month and Naruto isn't back yet." He said sipping some alcohol.
"What job did he go on?" She asked curiously, standing a foot away from the drinking Master.
"There are a series of jobs he piled and took Natsu, Gray and Happy in addition to Sirius,"
"You know he is strong, why are you concerned about him?" Erza asked, confused. Makarov turned to her. Her serious expression spoke what she was referring to.
It's true. Naruto went toe to toe with Gildarts and won. All the members on Tenrou Island on that day, including Erza, knew the true power of the blonde and that's why they didn't protest at his promotion.
Erza can still remember the power she felt and every time she is down, she remembers that power to push herself forward and become stronger.
She knew without power, she can't achieve anything much less protect her precious guild from others. All her strict persona is just a mask to keep the guild members disciplined.
She lost her friends once, she is not willing to lose them again. Fairy Tail is her family and she is going to do everything in her power to protect them.
"Erza-" called Makarov, pulling the red-haired knight from her reverie. "Yes, Master?" She absentmindedly replied.
"Naruto just sent a letter about his whereabouts." He said, showing a small letter in his hand. Erza looked at it curiously. Though no one is around.
Makarov opened it and started reading it and Erza leaned in to peek at what he wrote.
'Yo Gramps,
I'm good, how are ya doing? Drunk? As expected.
Anyway, everyone was fine here and we are going on an S-class job which I promised the boys as a reward. We also got a tag along, I want you to meet her and give her a piece of your mind. She is crazy, I'm telling you.
Anyway, I want to ask you to take care of Loke. What is he doing? Goofing around?'
Naruto asked and Makarov looked around to find the orange-haired man laughing happily with a girl they were unfamiliar with. Confirming that he is fooling around, Makarov and Erza came back to the letter.
'If he is fooling around, I want you to send him on a job with some girl. I think Mira or Erza would fit the bill. I want him back on track when I return and can't have him whining.
Send him with one of them on some job. Don't play something you did to me. He won't take it well, poor fellow.'
Erza gave Makarov a questioning look to which Makarov toothily smiled.
'Ok, gotta go, see ya soon. Oh, I forgot, I met Gajeel from Phantoms guild and we got into a small competition. Hehehe. Don't mind that.

They read the letter again, though they tried to catch the one who brought the letter, they knew it was a futile effort as Naruto didn't leave any clue.
Seeing Erza and Makarov look around after reading the letter, the shadow clone which disguised as a mug dispelled in a cloud of smoke, unnoticed by Makarov and Erza as they were looking on the other side.
"So what should we do?" Makarov asked a resolute Erza.
"It's clear, Master. I'm going to take this Loke person on a job to keep him busy till Naruto comes back," she said, punching her chest resolutely and going towards a happily laughing Loke.
"Loke?" She asked and as he turned to see who called him, he saw long locks of red hair with metal armour and looked up to see Erza's brown eyes looking at him in determination.
"What can help you with this fine morning?" He asked with a charming smile, but Erza didn't get any of it.
"We are going on a job, come," she said, catching his hand and starting to take him towards the job request board.
"What? Wait! I'm with Naruto. He is on a job. I'll go after he comes back," Loke shouted, trying his best to escape from Erza's grasp.
"Naruto is busy, so you will come with me in the meantime. This looks fine," said Erza, taking a hard job, which would take a few days to complete.
"No, no. But- wait. Did Naruto tell you to take me?" He asked in realisation, knowing the blonde's knack to pull pranks.
"Master, we are going to do this job," Erza said, not answering Loke's question. "Sure, Erza. Ah, Loke. Safe travels," he said with a wide smile and a distraught Loke started to follow Erza as she marched through the streets of Magnolia.
'That bastard. I knew it was his doing. I'll take my revenge!' Loke vowed.
With Naruto
Naruto started laughing uncontrollably. It took him a few minutes to get under control and this drew Sirius's interest as his father only laughs like this when his prank plays perfectly.
"Who did you prank?" He asked with a knowing smirk.
"Leo," Naruto replied with a smirk.
"Really? Why?"
"He is fooling around with girls, so I chose to spice things up. Hehe,"
"What did you do? Let me guess,"
"Stole some girls' clothes and sent the blame his way?" Naruto denied.
"Trip him and send him towards Mira?" Naruto denied it again.
"Steal old man's or Cana's booze bottles and hide them near him?"
"No,"
"Did you send him with some girl on any wild adventure?" Sirius asked as he analysed Naruto's statement.
"Close. Sent him on a job with Erza." Naruto smirked victoriously.
"Poor Leo. I am not aware of this and don't involve me in this," Sirius said as he doesn't want to be pranked by Loke, though he knew the celestial spirit will fail. Naruto nodded.
"Did you bring the S-class job?"
"Yup. Do you want some spoilers?" Naruto asked, showing a closed job request to Sirius.
"Tempting, but no. I don't want any part of it. I'll know with others. Is it far?" Sirius asked.
"Hmm, well halfway through the last job I did," Naruto said and Sirius nodded, not asking any questions as he returned to his drawings.
He started making all the positions he can fight and instead of just making them in his mind, he started drawing them like a visual representation of his fighting style and attacks.
This would allow him to imagine how he can fight better against different opponents and the ways to escape and so on.
"Maybe Kagura would be useful to us," Naruto murmured, though Sirius heard, he didn't press what his father meant by that and continued his analysis.
While Naruto and Sirius were doing this, Happy and Natsu were roaming around the town with the money they got from their last job.
They were in search of food as they were hungry and though Happy can ask some fishies from Naruto, he wanted to find some on his own and Natsu tagged along.
"Hey Natsu, how did you feel when Naruto did that whoosh thing?" Happy asked.
"Whoosh-what?"
"That thing, we are on the island one second and the next we are here," Happy tried to explain. As they were unconscious when Naruto teleported them for the first time in the cave, Happy only remembered the second one.
"Uh, no buddy. I didn't feel anything wrong," Natsu said, remembering how they were at one place at one point and the next, they were here again.
"Does that mean you only feel that stomach problem on vehicles and not when someone carries or moves like Naruto?" Happy asked as he turned towards Natsu.
"Looks like it. We should try it again to find out," Natsu said with a toothy smile.
"So you can enjoy the train raid as well!" Happy cheered.
"Yup,"
*Growl*
"Ah, I think we should eat first, Happy,"
"Yes," they both agreed and moved to a small shop to eat.
With Kagura
Kagura is rethinking why she agreed to go on with the blonde and his group. It's not like she needs them, she can defend herself well.
Though their help fighting against Marsh is appreciated, it doesn't mean that the blonde can order her around like that.
She thought of silently slipping away, but decided not to as something in her told that won't end well. She knew and saw how powerful Naruto is.
She is not going to mess with him even with Archenemy. If this S-class gives her that much power, then she will become S-class and find her brother and take her revenge.
'I'm coming, Simon. Please stay safe till then,' she thought and continued on some shadow fighting in her mind. She is going to become strong.
Next Morning
As the day passed, Naruto and his group prepared for the job ahead and completed their breakfast and assembled in the inn lobby to start their journey.
"So where are we going?" Gray asked.
"We are going to an S-class job. The job is as follows," said Naruto, pulling the request flyer out.
'Animal Mayhem' read the title.
'In the dancing country of Minstrel, a group of animals started creating mayhem with their dance and magic. We request mages' immediate assistance.
Requirements: At least mages using varieties of magic are needed as the animals are magical creatures like Wyverns with some Lizardman and some other small creatures.
Location: Eastern Minstrel near Desierto border.
Reward: 5 million Jewels.
Status: Taken by Fairy Tail mages.'
"How was it?" Naruto asked as he saw them read.
"Minstrel is far, man. How are we going to get there?" Gray asked.
"Is Desierto a country?" Natsu asked, rubbing his chin.
"Aye, sir," Happy chorused.
"Do you expect me to come there?" Kagura asked, her hand moving towards her sword.
"Chill, I'm not going to make you walk there. I have the nearest mark there. We are going to be there in a few minutes. Before that, I want you to know something. First about Wyverns. Do you know what a Wyvern is?" Naruto asked and everyone explained their interpretation and he nodded in satisfaction.
"Ok, that's good. Let me explain about the Lizardman. They are Humanoid creatures which are strong and since they can use magic now, you should be more careful," he said seriously and all of them, including Kagura, nodded.
"Ok, now take my hand," Naruto said and extended his right and left hands to others. Sirius sat on his shoulder while Happy sat on Natsu's.
Gray and Natsu caught his left hand while Kagura reluctantly took his right hand and just like that, they vanished from the lobby.
Minstrel Border
Naruto and co appeared at the border of Minstrel and Joya. "That took a lot," Naruto said aloud. Everyone was shocked at their surroundings.
"Oh my God,"
"What the hell!"
"Crap,"
"Aye, aye," came the reactions of everyone as they stared at the pure contrast in front of them.
One side was filled with the Desert while the other was full of life and trees.
"How far are we from our previous location?" Kagura asked in surprise.
"Don't know. Maybe a few thousand kilometres? I didn't measure the distance. But it will take a few days by flight if we want to reach Fiore from here." Naruto said with a shrug.
"Are you for real? How the hell did you transport us from there?" Gray asked in shock. This is the first outburst he had as he always stays calm and collected.
"What's the big deal?" Natsu asked, confused.
"What are you doing not listening to us?" Gray asked in irritation.
"Something is coming towards us from there. I was looking at it," Natsu said, pointing to a small bump moving towards them in the sand.
"Is it a sandworm?" Sirius asked.
"Hmm, looks like it. Maybe we don't need to find the job requester to show where others are. Follow it and you will be led there. Ok, guys. Do it," said Naruto and vanished from the place.
"The hell! Where did he go?" Kagura asked as she saw the worm approach.
"I think we should worry about that," said Sirius as he saw it approach them.
"Fire Dragon's Roar," yelled Natsu and spewed a large stream of fire towards the approaching worm.
*Shriek*
They heard a large shriek and the worm changed its direction and turned left and crossed into the lush forests and continued its digging. Natsu started running behind it while others followed.
Kagura was pissed by this. First, he asked (more like ordered) her to come with him. Now he vanishes when they are charged by some worm. This is why she doesn't like mages.
The things they did to her village were unforgivable and after finding her brother, she is going to kick Naruto's ass till he profusely apologises for his attitude. But first, though, she needs to take care of the stupid worm.
'Why did you vanish like that, Papa?' Sirius asked as he followed the worm by keeping track of its moments using his DÅjutsu. He still had to name it. The shit is moving fast.
'Aren't you up for some fighting? Do it yourselves. I'll take a nap,' came the lazy reply of his father.
'Are you imitating someone?' Sirius asked suspiciously.
'Not anyone you know. But I'm not going to get involved with this. Let's see what our sword girl can do when I leave you like this,' Naruto said in a sleepy tone.
'So that's what you want to do, test her?'
'Ok, times up. Happy dancing, kiddo.' Naruto said and closed the connection.
'Damn it, why does he have to do this?' Sirius grumbled as he jumped when a spike came out of the ground.
"Careful, buddy. That newbie left us in quite a predicament," said Natsu as he kicked the spike.
"Yeah, looks like we are approaching some kind of deep forest. Be careful, guys. We don't know what this thing is leading us towards," Gray said as they approached the thick forest.
"What in the world-!" Exclaimed Kagura as they came face to face with many creatures. There are many types of animals rolling around, hoping and some even dancing.
"Ok, looks like this is the place. Let's clean this up," said Natsu, cracking his knuckles.
"What? Humans? What are they doing here?" Came an icy voice as all of the animals moved aside to reveal a large Lizardman.
It is tall, standing at 9 feet and has human-like short claws instead of fingers. Possessing scales more similar to those of a crocodile instead of a lizard's with red eyes glowing with greed.
"Do you want to dance with us?" It asked happily, but none of them got the feeling it was joining and Happy gulped.
"No? Then there is only one option for you. Devour them!" It yelled and all the creatures there started to shout in joy and moved towards them.
"Oh, oh. Looks like we need to do things fast. I don't think they will wait for us." Said Gray and all of them started at the same time.
"Ice-Make: Arrows," said Gray and shot some Ice arrows towards the approaching animals. Though it hit some, most of them fell useless because of the tough skin of the Lizardmen.
"Ice-Make: Hammer," said Gray and formed a Hammer in the air and tried to hit them back, but it also proved to be useless.
"Lighting Style: Thunder Clap," said Sirius and released a lightning bolt towards the approaching lizards. It did shock some, but they walked forward, shrugging off the pain.
"Fire Dragon's: Claw," said Natsu, igniting his feet in flames, increasing the power of his kicks and launched towards the approaching animals and started punching and kicking them.
Similar to how they shrugged off Sirius's lightning attack, they walked towards them, some of their faces and bodies deformed in some areas.
"No damage? What the hell are these made off and why are they walking as if they are dead?" Sirius asked as he recalled previous experience.
"Could it be? Did you meet my friends' Lock and Holder?" Asked the first Lizardman who was sitting to the side, drinking some blood?
"Shit, this is bad. If these are even close to those, then we are in some serious trouble. Guys, use your strongest attacks," called Sirius and he started first.
Kagura, though not fighting with them, is trying her best to not pull her sword out and using only her clothed sword to kill most of them.
"Chidori," said Sirius and his body buffed into his battle mode. He ran towards the oncoming animals and impaled one after another in the chest with the lightning blade.
"Fire Dra-Style: Flowing Fire," yelled Natsu and released a large stream of fire towards a different batch of animals and some escaped.
"Happy Air Rock," he heard his blue feline partner say as Happy threw a large rock towards the escape once and it hit the back.
"Fire Style: Burning Ground," said Natsu and blew a strong stream of fire on the ground and lit most of the animals, with the forest on fire.
"Ice-Make: Cannon,"
"Ice-Make: Excalibur,"
"Shooting Excalibur: Release," said Gray and shot the sword, skipping the full step of combining them because of his increased control. It tore through air at high speeds most couldn't follow and before anyone could stop it, the sword cut through many creatures.
"Looks like you insects won't die easily. Use magic!" Ordered the leader Lizardman and Sirius felt a sudden change.
"Slashing Form: Cataclysm!" They heard a yell as a long white arc of magic came out, releasing enough magic to erase a small bit of the forest.
All the lizardmen and some of the other types of animals following them took the direct hit from the attack and were disintegrated immediately.
"Hm, that takes care of most of it," Kagura said happily and saw the ordering Lizardman staring in anger.
"You! YOU WILL PAY!" He exclaimed loudly and they felt magic surge around him and they tried their best to stop him.
"Dragon Slayer's Secret Art: Crimson Lotus: Fire Dragon's Fist," said Natsu and rapidly punched the lizard man.
"Water Style: Raging Wave,"
"Ice-Make: Freezing Water," called Gray and Sirius in unison, coordinating a perfect combo. As Sirius water reached the lizardman, it froze, stopping his momentum
"Slashing Form: Last Slash," said Kagura and lunged towards the frozen lizard, slashing it in half. It fell apart, sliced into pieces.
Meanwhile with Naruto
"So you are telling me that these are all of them?" Naruto asked a skating man. Leaving others to deal with the monsters, Naruto came in search of their client.
Their client turned out to be the mayor of Minstrel's capital and welcomed him in happily.
"Yes, from our search, they are all of the animals. If you are here, who is fighting against them?" He asked curiously.
Much to prove their name, Minstrel's population loves dancing so much, Naruto found many dancing floors around the capital and the man he was talking to, the mayor, is dancing now.
"If you like dancing this much, what made you call for the job?" He continued as the man turned a bit.
"We found no problem at the beginning, but after some days, our people went missing and more monsters started coming. We became suspicious and spied on the monsters and found them devouring some of our men and turning them into their own. We don't know what kind of magic it is, but we want them gone," he said, almost slipping.
Naruto connected the dots. "Wait, do you mean they turned humans into monsters? Like cloning?" He asked for clarification and the mayor nodded.
"Shit, I must go. I'll come back after completing the job," he said and rushed out of the building.
With Kagura
Kagura sheathed her sword knowing the monster was dead. But a small hand started to move towards her and at the second it was going to catch her, Naruto picked her up.
He used Kamui and turned them intangible, making the hand pass through them. Immediately many light needles pierced the hand and relentlessly charged the whole area.
"Light Bomb," Naruto said and detonated a series of small light bombs which turned the area into rubble. "That's close," he sighed in relief.
"You can leave me," Kagura said as Naruto was still holding her. "Sorry," he said and released her and checked for any signs of life in the area.
Finding none, he turned to others and talked about what happened and about their client and confirming none of the animals was alive, they all moved to their client's place.
Unknown Location
In a dimly lit room, a person can be seen sitting on a throne-like structure. Only some features can be seen due to the lack of light.
It dresses in form-fitting robes with a high collar. The robe itself has a checkered pattern and covers a collared shirt. Around its head is an ornate headpiece with some tattoo, covering its jaw and fanning out over its head almost like a crown.
Its empty eye sockets look tentatively at the ground as if waiting for something to come out.
"No, this doesn't work. What is happening to all my beautiful experiments?" It thought in a masculine voice.
"Do I need to do something about this?" Another voice asked behind him.
"No. I can take care of my pawns. You do what you want and try your best," he said as the room went dark.
And Cut
