Chapter 31: The Breaking Point

(At a Night Show)

At a night show on TV, famously known for taking the latest news in Showbiz and discussing them in detail

Most people watch it to get an understanding of what is going on, and so this show has usually high ratings. It was always done on Monday night, and they usually discussed matters that happen the week prior.

The topics were presented by the usual host, saying: For today, we have two main topics we would like to discuss and we had bought a few experts to weigh in on what we saw happening last week

He continued by saying: We will be discussing the Tsuraga-Kana scandal that ended last week with a new sad revelation, then we will dive into the new scandal-saga following a new LME star called Kyoko

The host introduced the experts, which included Matsuyama Shinji, a psychologist, Nao-san, a social media expert, Tadashi-san, a retired Reporter, and Yumiko-san, a news analyst

Host: Thank you all for joining us tonight, … now, as I said, we will talk about the Tsuraga-Kana scandal, … I would like to know your opinions on this matter … do you really think it's true, and how do you feel about revelation?

Matsuyama-san: from my standpoint, I analyzed her body language, and I found it to be pretty consistent with her statement, I believe that she's telling the truth!

Nao-san: I mean, I do agree with you, but I was very disappointed, I was truly rooting for them to have a bright future together! … people on social media have been in dismay about it, but in reality, many celebrated the fact Tsuraga-san wasn't taken

Tadashi-san: from my point of view, I thought the whole incident was a set-up, so I didn't actually believe it, people didn't believe me when I said that they aren't dating, but I'm glad Kana-san proved me right!

Yumiko-san: As for me, I was equally as disappointed, I really thought it would be an amazing paring, as Ren is young but very mature, and Kana-san was wise and fun to be around, but, I guess not all our wishes come true! … I mean it's not impossible for it to still happen, but, I guess they are both at different stages in their lives and they are still exploring their options

Nao-san: I'm not sure about that, when I watched the interview I felt like she already knew where she was and that was an honest mistake on her part

Tadashi-san: Hmmm, I feel like something is missing, I mean, … Kana-san isn't the type of woman to get drunk and kiss men … perhaps she didn't get a white gift from someone she liked and found Tsuraga-kun to be the only one who can give her the gift she wanted?

Yumiko-san: I'm not sure she would be that desperate for a white day gift, … her explanation made sense at the moment, but I'm finding myself having a hard time understanding it now!

Host: So, you think that one of them was being followed by reporters and a lucky reporter got a picture?!

Tadashi-san: I've said it before, I felt like this was a setup, … I mean why not get a photo of them drinking together, … and although I wasn't there, I still think it's hard for me to imagine her getting that drunk

Yumiko-san: why do you think it's a setup?

Tadashi-san: the timing of the picture, and the follow-up … I mean, a handshake shouldn't be over-explained, but they were shaking hands after they decided to remain quiet for a while, that's all … and besides, from the parties I covered, Kana-san and Tsuraga-kun did hang out together, but never in an intimate way

Nao-san: I guess we read the mood around them incorrectly! … I understand why they didn't come out to say something earlier, and I respect their decision! … I just hope they both find their rightful loving partners in the future

Tadashi-san: I think that many people are actually celebrating the fact Ren is still single, many people now think they have a chance

Matsuyama-san: I'm not sure, … when I watched Tsuraga-san's interview, I felt something behind it!

Host: can you explain?

Matsuyama-san: sure, … when he was asked a few questions in that audience segment, he paused a little answering some, but with each pause, his reaction changed, it was subtle, but I can sense that he was thinking about a warm memory

Nao-san: which questions are you referring to? … I watched it too but I didn't catch anything specific!

Matsuyama-san: for example, when he was asked about his vacation spot, he paused a little and it seemed like he was reminiscing a dear memory

Yumiko-san: but, maybe we went there with his parents, … he did mention his parents in a loving tone

Matsuyama-san: Yes, but that too, when he mentioned them to be his inspiration, it seemed like he was sure of his answer like he knew who he wanted to be with … I could be wrong because he might have seen his parents growing and wanted the same for himself in the future, but, to me I think he already has someone special

Nao-san: so, you think he might be dating someone, … you know people will lose it on social media after hearing your explanation

Matsuyama-san: I don't know, maybe he sees someone as special, but he hasn't reached the dating part, perhaps the person he likes hasn't realized his feelings … but also with that cute pillow question, … the question he was asked was right on point, as he's a gentleman and it didn't fit his image … I think maybe someone special gave it to him!

Nao-san: This is so crazy! … I really hope we don't go from Kana-san to someone else right away! … I'm not the only one who won't be able to handle it

Tadashi-san: I don't think so, … I mean he's been so distant with all his co-workers, so …

Yumiko-san: then maybe it's like a valentine's gift! …from a precious fan?!

Host: Oh, that seems crazy! … I'm not sure how to feel about it myself!

Matsuyama-san: again, this is speculation and maybe that cute pillow was something his loving mother sent him … she could be into cute things and he appreciates that and wants to share that hobby … but again, you never know

Nao-san: I think some fans might investigate this matter thoroughly just to make sure his mom is the real sender … you know, some fans can be so vicious sometimes, it scares me a little bit actually!

Tadashi-san: I can't deny that … fans can be over the top, I just hope they respect their idol and his privacy, … he possibly has reasons why he didn't reveal the sender … and perhaps, he bought it himself!

Yumiko-san: if he did, you might have seen a picture online about it already!

Nao-san: don't forget online shopping is a thing!

Tadashi-san: true!

Yumiko-san: can it be, … he's into stuff like this?!

Matsuyama-san: He seemed honest when he said his statement, I don't see any deception in his body language or voice!

Nao-san: then he can either really like cute things, or maybe, he might be …

Tadashi-san: I don't think we should be questioning those matters, as they are maybe private!

Yumiko-san: so much said be a reporter! … isn't it your job to catch someone in any type of act?!

Tadashi-san: I would like to say that I wasn't the type to go after any scandal! … my reports were always honest and decent! … and I come to learn how hurtful my job can be to some, so I would like to say, let's wait for Tsuraga-kun to introduce his future partner, whoever they are when they are ready!

Yumiko-san: If any! … I would rather hope he's still single, as we don't want our main idol to be hitched so soon! … he's still 21, why worry about a woman when he has millions as his fans!

The guests laughed a little and chatted a tad bit before ending the conversation about that topic there.

The show went on a commercial break, then came back to discuss the next topic

Host: now for our next piece of news … The scandal-saga of Kyoko from LME, what do you think about it and who do you think is telling the truth?

Matsuyama-san: I'm actually having a hard time with this one, honestly … there is a lot of mixed signals and different sides, and so I think I will take my time analyzing this tonight!

Nao-san: This is, I believe the fourth time something comes up about her, and people are reacting differently … some are supportive of her and some are just calling her names at this point, I mean, I don't think her mother's career should affect hers in any way!

Tadashi-san: Maybe not the fourth, remember the bullying incident beforehand?

Yumiko-san: not to mention she almost died weeks before that!

Host: yes, I heard about the horrendous incident, and I felt really bad for her, as she's only 17 years old!

Nao-san: come to think about it, today her mother's name was released, but, if you watch the press conference, where she thanked the hospital staff, her agency, and everyone else, her mother was standing right behind her!

Tadashi-san: oh really?!

The Host had the technical team pull the footage up and said: your right!

Nao-san: I saw people posting about that today at noon, and I was shocked myself, because, a few weeks before, Mogami-san did appear on a show on behalf of a Katagiri-san, the regular! … she did say she had no child!

Matsuyama-san: I can't deny that, but I have watched the prepared videos before the show, and that scene was one of them, … when I watched it, something was off about her!

Host: can you please elaborate?

Matsuyama-san can you play the video please … (the video was played for around a minute) then he said: stop there! … you see there, there was a slight shift, the mother who was talking started asking some questions, that seems to be accusatory, which must have irritated her

Tadashi-san: I mean, sure, the guest came across as aggressive, but they were emotional, and that doesn't really give her an excuse to deny her own child's existence

Yumiko-san: but it doesn't make sense, she denied being a mother, yet was there for her child in the hospital

Matsuyama-san: I think that it's partly because she's not wearing a ring!

Nao-san: as in, she's not a married woman?!

Yumiko-san: well, that's obvious from the news we keep getting, … to be honest, the news might be about Kyoko by name, but … it seems like it's targeting her mother!

The host: that's true, I did feel like something was up with the mother, and that Kyoko is just being used because she's the child!

Matsuyama-san: I was just about to raise that point! … The news is accusing the mother of being someone who sleeps around, not knowing who was the real father, but then, what I find very weird, is that the father learned she was his right away! … which doesn't make sense at all!

Nao-san: I agree, the story about her father learned about her was off! … I mean, not only did no one respond to that piece but, … how did the father know, … the only way it would make sense is if her mother is the only woman he had ever been with

Tadashi-san: but it said that he's a married man, who only had sons, and that Kyoko is his one and only daughter … I mean, the hooker part doesn't make sense due to her being a lawyer but assuming she was a hooker, then why would he assume she's his? … hookers tend to sleep with many men anyway!

Yumiko-san nodded and said: do you think the person behind all that news is the same?!

Nao-san: it might be! … I mean, if it is, they messed up big time by sending out different messages, first, she's someone who sleeps around and the next she's the lawyer who lied about having a child

Tadashi-san: I'm not sure if any of those stories are believable then, it would make sense for him to find about her if he knew about her job being a lawyer, and that she wasn't with anyone else since they parted

Yumiko-san: I agree with you if he knew she was a lawyer, and we know Mogami-san has been a lawyer for over 15 years!

Matsuyama-san: here's my point of view, after listening to some of your thought, I think I have a better grip on what might be happening here!

The host: oh, you figured it out?

Matsuyama-san: I'm not sure if it's true, but from what I see, something might be up between the two parents, maybe a custody battle perhaps, and maybe they think if they ruin the mother's reputation, then they would have a better chance of getting the girl in question

Nao-san: Hmm … a custody battle over a 17-year-old seems far-fetched!

Matsuyama-san: I disagree, from what we know, the father wasn't in the picture, so if it's true he just learned about her, he might be seeking to take her since he wants a daughter according to the article

Yumiko-san: well, the only issue here, is that … I have a friend that had a son out of wedlock and she had the sole custody of the child … Japan doesn't have a joint custody system, and I think that a single mother can never lose custody, unless they volunteer to transfer it to the father, or if the government finds a reasonable reason to take the child, for protection

The host: That I didn't know! … I mean, I have a child, but it's with my loving husband, so I never had to learn about custody matters

Matsuyama-san: Good thing you pointed that out, Yumiko-san! … from what we know, I think this is about the girl, and the father wants to take her despite her age, I mean she's nearly an adult and she really doesn't need two grown adults fighting like this over her!

Nao-san: This must be very distressing for her, … we saw how she responded the first time around, and I think it's partly because she wanted to set the record straight about knowing who he is and that she wasn't in Showbiz because of him

Tadashi-san: so, the first news was about her joining the industry to find him, but she already knew him and where he is according to her, the second news tried to slander the mother and disapprove Kyoko's statement, the third was to show that the father wasn't in the picture, blaming the mother for that … and now it got complicated, with abuse being suggested

Yumiko-san: I have to say, I don't see Kyoko as being mentally ill or anything, she sounded like she had a good normal background … nothing seemed off about her, … I personally never met her and I don't know much about her, but I mean, if she was severely mentally ill, she wouldn't make it, would she?

Matsuyama-san: would she believe in fairies as a result of extreme abuse?! Here is my thought about this … believing something is real and hallucinating are two different things! … some people believe in ghosts, while others believe in one or more gods! … some beliefs have a reasonable explanation, even if others around them find them odd … so believing in fairies doesn't really raise alarm bells in my mind … when I would worry is if she thinks she is seeing them and talking to them, and that is affecting her lively hood and people around her

Nao-san: I think if something like that is true, we might have heard about it already since people gossip and the news spreads fast … nothing like that ever came through

Tadashi-san: but people can hide those types of actions! … I mean, she might not want people to know about her obsessions because some might find it weird

Matsuyama-san: No, if she was hallucinating, she wouldn't be able to control it, unless she takes some type of medication, which usually decreases such episodes, helping some to get somewhat of a normal life, … I think for a girl her age, its normal for her to like fairies and princesses, as girls like cute things and they grow up with those types of stories, either in books or on TV

Nao-san: Yeah I mean, I'm in my late 30's and I still think Disney movies are enjoyable, some at least! … I watched some with my daughter and I pleasantly enjoyed it!

Tadashi-san: I agree, but don't you think it's weird that she can play evil roles at this age?! … I mean, the abuse part might still be true!

Matsuyama-san: that's debatable! … I mean, we all watch shows and have imaginations, so it can be a mix of both … and sure, there might be abuse, but there are also many things that could have happened to someone who is 17 now … among them may be bullying and abandonment! … we know the girl was bullied, and it happened just recently

Nao-san: I might if 4 girls can still target you in high school, then maybe she's an easy target, as I do think she might have been bullied before … because the recent bullying happened was after finishing "Dark Moon" and Box "R"

Yumiko-san: when you say abandonment, are you talking about the mother or father here?!

Matsuyama-san: either or both! … we don't know Kyoko-san's background, so we can't really tell … we know she didn't grow up with a father, but we don't know how much of that is true! About her mother, abusing and abandoning her, … it could happen, but we don't know, because we did establish that the mother could be targeted by this hateful campaign!

Nao-san: going back to the mother, though, … do you really think she would do that, I mean she's a lawyer as we know now, … could she do such thing and get away with it, since she knows the law and might know how to go around it!

Tadashi-san: I think it's an assumption to think someone should know the law to get around it … but, with the fact she denied having a child, I wouldn't put it past her!

The host: What do you think, Matsuyama-san?

Matsuyama-san: here is something I want you to think about, Mogami-san is a single mother since we do think the father is trying to slander the mother to win his child, … My job allowed me to meet people with different types of issues, and that does include single mothers, if Mogami-san is indeed a single mother, then I don't find It hard to see why she would deny having a child. Due to our culture, single mothers even previously married women are looked down upon and they often have hard times finding jobs and staying above the poverty line!

Nao-san: but she's a lawyer!

Matsuyama-san: sure, and maybe people won't trust her if they know she's a single mother, or maybe some people in her private circle don't know about her child, … and maybe she didn't want her employer to know … there are many possible reasons! … if I was in her position, I would think twice before saying yes or no!

Nao-san: that makes reasonable since … and if its true the father only found about her recently, maybe she said that to keep that guy away!

Tadashi-san: why though?!

Yumiko-san: he could have been abusive himself! … and seeing how he's trying to ruin the mother's reputation with all those "possible" lies … it can mean something!

Matsuyama-san: Yes! … that's what I wanted to say, thank you!

Nao-san: considering all that, maybe it was ok for her mother to say she didn't have a child because she wanted to protect the child, but now that person knows about her, he's hurting both just to get what he wants

Tadashi-san: well, this is all just an assumption until we know more from their side!

Yumiko-san: do you think she will speak up again?!

Matsuyama-san: I'm not sure, seeing how terrible the news was shared the day after she replied, she might hesitate even if she wanted to set the record straight … her agency might have asked her to stay out of it and let it die down on its own.

Nao-san: I believe that "Dark Moon's cast will be having their last ever interview for the series, it's to congratulate the director and cast for the amazing sale records they set … I'm wondering if Kyoko will have a response there, and I'm honestly looking forward to it!

Tadashi-san: I guess to wait and see how this plays out, and I think we can meet up next week to discuss further development in this matter

Yumiko-san: however, I think we forgot to mention Fuwa Sho! … he did come out and declare that he knows Kyoko through family connections

The host: I do remember that today's news mentioned that She lived with his family

Nao-san: I think it's interesting, through the social media discussions I've come across, people did think she got the connection to join showbiz through him, and that she even appeared in his MV

Tadashi-san: He did say it wasn't a connection, I think … because he did mention that he didn't recognize her when she was hired for the role

Yumiko-san: I mean, maybe she did some huge physical appearance transformation that he never imagined she'd do, … maybe she acted like a stranger … or both, who knows!

The host: It's truly an interesting discussion we had tonight, I think that next week we will have furthermore to talk about, and I hope you will join us again to discuss this matter further

With that, the program ended by thanking the guests and asking the audience to toon in next week for further discussion on the topic.

(At Saena's apartment)

Kyoko came in to find the apartment dark, it was nearly 10 pm, so she wondered if he mother wasn't home yet … as she took off her shoes, she did notice her mother's shoes and thought (maybe she went to sleep early)

She also noticed the Remi wasn't around, so she tipped-toed into the bedroom to find both her mother and Remi asleep

She changed her clothes in the bathroom, and returned to the living room to study a little, as she didn't have a lot of time to focus on schoolwork recently

After nearly 30 minutes, she got up to get a drink of water, and she saw a note in the kitchen addressed to her, she picked it up and read it (I'm going to work very early in the morning)

She thought (that's why she went to bed early? … I guess I should get to bed soon, so I can at least make them lunch

After finishing her homework, Kyoko looked at the time, and sighed, thinking (it's nearly midnight! … I should head to bed), and so she did!

At nearly 2 am, Saena woke up from yet another nightmare, she looked at the time and sighed heavily … she tried to go to sleep, but to no avail, she just couldn't sleep comfortably

She got up and left the bedroom, as to not wake up Kyoko or Remi … and sat in the living room alone, in the dark

She sighed again and thought about many things, reconsidering her options and her feelings … trying to get a grip on herself, trying to calm herself, but couldn't … she just felt this bothersome feeling in her chest … and wondered if things will ever stop! … She kept pondering over many things until nearly 4 am when she finally got some sleep on the couch where she sat for the past 2 hours

Kyoko woke up around 5:30 am, and found that her mother wasn't there, so she wondered (she left this early?!) … to her surprise, he mother was sleeping on the couch … she looked emotionally exhausted and very uncomfortable

Kyoko bought a blanket from the bedroom and covered her mother, then started to cook lunch and a light breakfast to go, as fast and quiet as she possibly can

Her mother woke up suddenly around 6am, and got up, finding Kyoko cooking in the kitchen, so she asked: what time is it?!

Kyoko: 6 am!

Saena sighed in relief and said: I will go get changed, Todoh-san will be here in the moment now

As she finished changing, she took her bag and said: I will see you later

Kyoko: wait, mom! … (she picked up the bag she prepared) and said: this is for lunch, and … there is a light breakfast!

Saena: you didn't have to!

Kyoko: I know, but still, eating breakfast is important … I hope you're ok!

Saena looked down at the bag and said: Thank you … (she took the bag) then said: be careful out there!

Kyoko nodded and wanted to ask her something, but stopped herself when her mother got a text, saying: I need to head out, … see you later!

Kyoko bid her mother goodbye and closed the door … she was soon approached by a hungry cat

She smiled sadly and said: you must be Hungry Remi … (she took out a can of food and poured half of it in Remi's food plate)

Remi started eating after sniffing her food … and Kyoko sat down to watch her eat

She wondered if something was going at her mother's job and worried about the idea that the news might affect her mother and her reputation

She considered getting in contact with Katagiri-san or Todoh-san but decided against that because she didn't want to go behind her mother's back

Getting a text from Yashiro bought her back to her main objective … to eat a light healthy breakfast and get ready for the Tennis lessons they had that morning

After eating, she cleaned up, got dressed, and pet Remi, then left with her Tennis Racquet in hand

(In Yashiro's car)

Ren and Yashiro were super worried about Kyoko, and they were counting the seconds to her arrival … she however surprised them with a calm and somewhat cheerful attitude!

Kyoko said: Good morning!

Ren and Yashiro replied, trying to seem as calm as possible

However, due to her advanced powerful visions, Kyoko detected something off about those two, so she asked: is something wrong?! … are the Tennis lessons canceled?

Yashiro: err, No …

Kyoko raised an eyebrow and looked at Ren with a questioning look on her face

Yashiro asked: you don't check the news, although, yesterday …

Kyoko: well, Todoh-san came and told us what he learned from Katagiri-san, yesterday, … but my mom left early in the morning, perhaps to avoid reporters going to her office or something!

Yashiro: I see

Shocked, Kyoko asked: was something new released today!? … I thought they skipped Sunday because no one cares about the news … are they actually doing a daily newsletter, now?!

Yashiro: something like that … perhaps!

Ren: I think they crossed the Redline way before, … but with this ….

Fearful, Kyoko asked: what is it?!

Ren: they are accusing you and your mother of sleeping around, to get advances in your career! … they don't think either of you achieved your current status with hard work

Kyoko: that's ridiculous! …. I … we … she

Yashiro: you're right! … it's absurd and outrageous!

Ren: there are mixed opinions of people not believing the news, while others are outraged … I think that yesterday's night show affected many people's opinions, but, … it will still hurt both of you, career-wise if something isn't done to disapprove their claims!

Kyoko: what happened to proof and evidence, or do people not care about that?!

Yashiro: I'm not saying that they have any proof, but they made some believable arguments in the article they released today!

Ren: The president said this won't affect you as much, because he said he would release a statement very soon of a defamation lawsuit!

Yashiro: However, he did say that your mother will bear most of the damage because something like this can easily revoke her license to practice law

Appalled and very upset, Kyoko asked: are you being serious?!

Yashiro: it could be speculation on the president's behalf, but the accusations are very serious, and some might actually believe it … I really hope your mother doesn't get too affected by this!

Ren: if you don't want to go to the tennis training, we can just cancel for today and postpone it for another day … the president …

Kyoko interrupted saying: sorry, but No! … I won't let this affect my work no matter how hard they try! … I will … I will …. (her eyes became teary as she swallowed her words)

Yashiro: Kyoko-chan! … I know that you want to do your work, but you're stressing a lot, and that can affect you badly! … health-wise! … you can hang out in the agency until the interview tonight!

Kyoko: No! … I don't think wasting time will help my case! … the freer time I have the darker my thought will get! … I want to join everyone and let people know that those lies won't stop me!

Yashiro wanted to argue but was stopped himself

Ren: then let's go and do some warming up before the Tennis training … warming up is always important to avoid injury!

Kyoko nodded and thanked him, saying: Thank you, Really … I don't think I can sit around and anything until the interview … I just can't

Yashiro reluctantly agreed and drove them to the private Tennis club that was reserved for their practice that morning

(At Viride General Law Office)

Saena sat on her desk and worked on some documents

Her co-workers came around, greeting her with a stiff smile as they avoided meeting her eye to eye, which she found odd, but didn't question too much

Todoh came knocking on her desk to get her to pay attention to him, as he called her a few times, but she was too focused on her work … she looked at him and he point at Katagiri's office

Saena got up and joined Todoh … as he walked towards Katagiri's office

Suddenly, a guy called Yuji Yamamoto came in and shouted: where is Mogami-san?!

Saena looked at him and recognized him as her client, so she approached him and asked: is there something wrong?!

Yamamoto-san was outraged by her question, so he shouted: who the hell do you I am?! … huh?!

Todoh stepped in and said: Calm down, will you?!

Yamamoto-san looked at him, then back at Saena … then said: You're off my case! … completely! … I don't want you representing me or my business! … how shameful can you be?!

Saena was taken aback for a minute there, but sighed and asked: If you're referring to the news, then rest assured, they are ….

Yamamoto-san sneered, and interrupted her saying: I'm not listening to a whore like you! … damn you and your ways! … I don't want to win my case with such a cheater like you! … I will hire someone whose honorable and respectful to their profession!

Confused, Saena looked at a grim Todoh, then thought (something new came up today?!)

Yamamoto-san: I'm never working with you again! … you are a disgrace and I hope you never practice law ever again! …

Saena raised an eyebrow, but decided not to argue with the guy, he was clearly upset and he wasn't going to listen to her … so she said: as you like … I will transfer your files to whoever you hire next … now, excuse me

Yamamoto-san: Todoh-san … I would like to ask you to take my case, I've heard about your amazing work, and I know you're the right guy for the job, please take care of me!

Todoh scoffed and said: No thanks … I'm not interested!

Yamamoto-san was confused at first, so he asked: why not, … you were my second choice, … you would be first if I knew about her disturbing ways!

Infuriated, Todoh said: I won't take it! … not after what you said! … you're being disrespectful towards my co-worker and I find that repulsive! … you aren't going to listen to some lying losers, and come here to insult her … go find some other lawyer who doesn't mind your abhorrent behavior!

Yamamoto-san begged: Hey! … I praised you! … your one of the best in Tokyo! … come on!

Todoh walked away ignoring him, then asked someone to kick the guy out of the office

Saena walked past Katagiri's office and entered the break room … needing a private moment to calm her nerves down … she opened her phone and checked the news … she read the news once again before her heart dropped … she was on the verge of tears when Todoh knocked and came in

Worried, Todoh: Mogami!

Saena tried to swallow her tears as they threaten to fall, thinking (This is over, my career is over!)

Todoh: don't let the news get to your head! … Katagiri wants to see you

Saena shook her head refusing to move … trying to get rid of the tears … but they spilled regardless of her pitiful attempts

Todoh came closer and said: we already slammed them with a defamation lawsuit! … listen to me! … you're going to be fine!

Saena looked down in sorrow and defeat saying: what's the point …

Todoh put both of his hands on her shoulders and said: you didn't work this hard to give up because of something like this! … don't let this get to you! … you're better than that!

Katagiri came in after he heard what happened with the client who was forcefully removed because he didn't want to leave before getting Todoh-san to agree to take his case

Tearfully, Saena asked: what are you going to do when they call me for an investigation into my actions, because of this!? … what can you do, tell me?!

Todoh: They have no way to prove it because it never happened! … You know yourself! … you have nothing to fear!

Katagiri: He's right! … you were always professional and never went out of line, … let alone been left alone in someone's office … they have nothing on you, and your records will prove it!

Saena nodded, although she internally she had already given up … she dropped her head and said: he's not the only one who doesn't want me working their case, I got 4 emails so far telling me they will seek other lawyers to handle their cases

Katagiri: It's not that simple, you know that! … our office has rules! … contracts were sighed and therefore they can't simply leave … I will talk to them myself!

Saena shook her head and said: if they don't want me, then I don't mind giving their cases to someone else … there is no point in working with someone who doesn't trust me!

Todoh: don't say that!

Katagiri: we will see about that later … you should head home and relax until I get this matter under control! … understood?!

Saena argued: what am I supposed to do?! … how am I going to relax, with all this going on, I …

Todoh: Mogami …

Katagiri: Go home, this is an order! … take a shower, drink some tea … and focus on the Morizumi case for now!

Saena weakly answered: understood …

Todoh: I will take you home, let's go!

Katagiri: Todoh, a word!

Saena was about to leave the break room when her phone rang, so she answered: Yes, this is Mogami …

The repair shop: Hi, this is Mogami Saena, correct?!

Saena: yes, … who is this?

The repair shop: I'm calling to inform you that your car had been fixed and is ready for pick up!

Saena: finally?!

The repair shop: I'm sorry for the wait, we had a lot of cars to repair due to that problem, I'm glad the police got something and are tracking the offender now!

Saena: alright, … do you take cash payment?

The repair shop: no ma'am, this is at no cost to you, … I will send you a text of the address so you can come to pick it up when you can … take care

Saena hung up the phone … and thought for a little, then said: Can you take me to pick up my car instead?!

Hesitant, Todoh: it's ready for pick-up?!

Saena: yes …

Katagiri: ok, take her to pick up her car, and Mogami, you go home and focus on that case! … nothing else!

Saena: understood … I will go pick up my things … (she opened the door and walked out, closing the door behind her)

Upset, Todoh: you can't be serious?!

Confused, Katagiri asked: what!

Todoh: didn't you see that look in her eyes?!

Katagiri sighed and said: I know this whole situation is discouraging, but I think she'll be fine

Todoh: No! … she won't, not when she's looking like that! … she looked similar to when she was fired, and weeks later she tried to end it all! … you know that!

Katagiri: calm down, she's a grown woman and she can handle it!

Todoh: I still think it's better if I drive her home, she can pick up her car later!

Katagiri: Todoh! … you can't force her to keep asking you for help, let her take her car home, she will be fine!

Todoh: her being left alone isn't a good idea anyway! … she's distraught! … do you think she can drive in this condition?!

Katagiri: look, I get why you are worried, but she's past that now! … she has a strong understanding and she will come through! … we will support her by giving her space and time to heal!

Todoh: I can't with you! … I'm worried she might want some drinks now, … leaving her alone won't help, I can stay with her!

Katagiri: Just give her some pointers, like don't think about drinking, and all … she does put her work first, so she will be fine!

Todoh: This is happening all over again! … you think she will be fine, but I disagree, … the same people are behind this! … just like 18 years ago! … if something happens, I will blame you along with them!

Katagiri: I will take responsibility for whatever happens, so do what you think is right! … but, I still think you should give her some freedom, by letting her get her car back, … I don't mind if you stay with her for the rest of the day if that makes you feel better!

Todoh: thanks … (he opens the door and walked out to hear some commotion in the office area, so he looks at Katagiri and runs off to see what's going on)

Katagiri joined him right away, as the boss he needed to make sure work goes smoothly and stop issues before it gets out of hand

They reached the office to see an older lady holding Saena by the collar, before slapping her across the face … Saena stepped back in confusion, … she never met this woman before, and to have her come here, grab her, slapping in the process was outrageous

Older lady: you whore!

Saena lost it there and looked at the woman with furry in her eyes, she wasn't going to let someone, let alone a stranger treat her that way

The older lady tried to grab Saena again, ignoring how angry she looked

Upset, Saena: what do you think you're doing?! … I don't even know who you are, yet you're here calling me names and assaulting me?!

Older lady: You're the other woman, do you think I will overlook your actions?! … you sleeping with my husband?!

Saena knit her brows in anger and said: what makes you think I'm doing that, the news!? … do you believe everything they say that easily?!

Older lady: how dare you accuse me of being a fool?! … I know my husband has been seeing someone, and the news just helped me connect the dots!

Saena scoffed, then said: I never been around any man in the past 18 years, let alone your husband … if your husband is being unfaithful, that's between you two, don't drag me into your problems because of some pure lies!

Older lady: how dare you?!

Saena: I didn't do anything wrong, … so don't come here accusing me of something I have never done, just because you think you figured something out! … where is the evidence?! … present them to me!

Older lady: you slept with countless judges to have your cases go your way … do you really think you're some sly lawyer?! … you should be home cooking for your husband and child instead of doing a job, only men can do!

Saena: That's not for you to decide! … you can't dedicate how I live my life, the same way I can't dictate yours! … don't come at me with your groundless assumptions, without having any proof, because that's slander and I can sue you for that! … I'm not going to sit around and let people treat me like this! … enough is enough!

Older lady: if I find out that you are the women my husband has been sleeping with, I will destroy you!

Saena: you won't find anything, … because I never had any inappropriate relationships with anyone! … I respect the judges, and I deal with them only due to my job!

Older lady scoffed: like kissing in his office isn't an option!

Saena: I've never got close, let alone touched anyone for that matter! … the only person I've ever been with is the father of my child and I've regretted that relationship all my life, you think I will do it again!? … think again! … Not happening! … I have no interest in those types of things after what happened, and I'm done letting people walk all over me because of baseless assumptions!

Older lady: how irresponsible! … you're forcing your child to live a miserable life because of your own actions and stupidity! … but a girl will always need her father! … you're never going to be enough!

Saena: my life and my child are none of your business! … you don't know me, so you shouldn't judge me! … please turn around and talk to your own husband instead!

Older lady: I'm not getting a divorce! ... over my dead body!

Saena sighed … she looked at Todoh who nodded to her, so she just gave the woman one more look saying: I can't help you there … good luck with your own problems, but please, don't ever involve me in this again! … (she then walked out of the office and speed walked to Todoh's car, trying to compose herself before she loses all control over her emotions

Todoh gave them women a scornful look and walked out, cursing her in his mind, before reaching the car and driving away

Katagiri took the woman to his office and told her that if she ever comes here again to cause problems, he will be taking action… he didn't have time for her crap and neither did all his other co-workers

(At the Tennis Club)

Kyoko entered the indoor Tennis courts, and greeted everyone, without showing signs of distress, … she kept a cheerful front and smiled her way through

Ren and Yashiro joined her as they walked behind her … Ren was smiling his gentleman smile, making anyone approaching him unlikely … everyone stared, while some waved … most people present were in showbiz, but many of them have never met Ren in person … the director reminded everyone of the rules, then allowed the scriptwriter to explain his plan to the staff and tennis trainers

The Scriptwriter said: Miwako, and Natsuki need to learn the basics, and I want them to learn how to play doubles, as that will be part of the competition … I want Tamayo to learn the basics too, but she will focus on singles, the rest can choose whatever the like, and it will depend on how much you learn, and progress … I'm going to watch all of you, and decided how the Tennis scenes unfold!

The director stood then said: anything else you need to add?

The Scriptwriter: Yes … Natsuki should have a strong serve! … Miwako is best near the net, that's how their teamwork is … as for Tamayo, I want her to have a strong serve too … but I just want her to learn the basics for now!

Everyone went to their trainers and got on their own court … they all talked to the trainers about their any prior experience and their athletic abilities … Kyoko took the court next to Momose's and stood there with Ren

Ren came over and asked: are you ready?!

Kyoko nodded and said: Thank you for taking some time off to help

Ren: Anytime! …

He then started to explain the basics to Kyoko and showed off some of his athletic skills … which made her admire him more

He hit a serve that wowed even the coaches … he, however, paid no attention to anyone but his student … he taught her how to serve, showing her the correct form … and after just a few tries, Kyoko was able to serve acceptable balls to the other side the court

He then showed her the forms for how to hit forehands and backhands and stressed that she should hit a backhand with two hands, as that's the best way to do it

After a few missed shots, Kyoko was able to hit a few balls back … perfecting the form was her main goal, and after nearly half an hour, she was hitting almost all the balls back

Yashiro stood in the back with the other managers and nodded happily, thinking (I was sure she was going to catch on very easily … she's very flexible and capable … a fast learner!)

The director called for a break, allowing everyone to pick up the balls and have a refreshing cold drink … the scriptwriter talked to the trainers one by one, telling them what they liked and what he wanted them to improve or focus on

He then took Ren aside and said: I think you did great teaching her, she seems like a fast learner … she grasped all the basics so far, so for now, I want her to be able to do rallies, if possible … Tamayo, her character is talented in the sport, and she needs to show that off, rallies are a great way to showcase that! … just have fun with it! because I want Tamayo to grasp the joy of playing a sport she loves, which will help her show deep emotions when she's forced to stop due to her illness

Ren accepted the challenge and went off to find Kyoko who had sat down with Momose and Kazumi

Momose: so, Tsuraga-san is here to help you with Tennis?!

Kazumi: how did you get a busy guy like him to come?

Kyoko: well, he offered, and he had some time off … he has asked me to help him with a love-me quest and so he wanted to help me with something in return!

Momose: oh nice! … I'm glad you two are getting along well!

Kyoko: is it off-putting?!

Momose: no, why would you ask that! … I genuinely think you two look great together

Kyoko stared at her with a confused look on her face … she then looked down thinking (I don't know how to feel about that … is she saying that she doesn't mind if we're together as friends, or something else?)

Momose: I have been thinking this way since the Dark Moon party, honestly, … I just didn't know if it was appropriate to say back then … but now that I see you both, I can say, that I support you two!

Kazumi didn't know much about the relationship between Ren and Kyoko, so he just smiled and nodded quietly

Kyoko: back since "Dark Moon"?!

Ren joined them and asked: Can I sit here?

Momose: Go ahead!

Kazumi: I don't mind!

Kyoko nodded saying nothing

Ren: we're starting again in 5!

Kyoko: ok! … I'm ready!

Ren: great!

Momose: Do you know what you will work on next?

Ren: Yeah, … he said asked us to do rallies, which will be simple since she gasped the basics!

Momose: oh, the back and forth! … Good luck you two!

Kazumi: You're truly a professional Kyoko-san! … you adapt easily and you perfect your craft in no time! … it's impressive, even more so that you're doing it despite all the chaos going on

Kyoko: I try my best! … I won't let any type of chaos affect me!

Momose: say, … where should we have lunch?! … I'm craving something delicious as a reward for all this hard work!

Kazumi: why not go to that place, … your manager got us food from them before, it was one of my favorite meals!

Kyoko: You mean Darumaya?!

Momose: Yes! … I would love that! … how about we go there together, how about that Tsuraga-san!? … can you join us?!

Ren: I'm free until 4 pm, … I don't mind joining, because the food is truly great!

Momose: you had it before?!

Ren: yes, I've had it a few times … the food is worth the drive there!

Momose: then it's settled! … we will finish our training and meet there!

They all agreed and got ready to return to training …. The director called Kyoko and Kazumi as he wanted to explain something to them, leaving Momose-san and Ren behind

Momose: She's ok, right?! … I'm not sure if she's acting or not, but I'm truly worried!

Ren: she will be! … she's a fighter, and she won't let this get her down! … We won't let that happen, … she has all of us to support her, and we will do just that! … I got to say, I'm grateful to you as well, you have been such a great source of help to her!

Momose smiled, then asked guiltily: even though I brought Fuwa back into the picture

Ren: I mean, I don't have to be happy about it, but I'm ok, as long as it's helpful! … he bought that upon himself, and if her could fix his issues and ego, he could have been a good friend

Momose: You're so mature for saying that! … if I were you I wouldn't want someone like him around at all, no matter how helpful he may be!

Ren: but we're doing this for Kyoko's sake, so no matter how we feel about him, he does have the facts on his side and his help can be useful, no matter how unwanted he may be

Momose smiled and nodded, then said: You're a great Guy! … she's lucky to have such a great man by her side! … Tsuraga-san, please take care of her!

Ren smiled and thanked her, without questioning her … he knew she supported them together and he was grateful for that

Momose: I'm planning to be as much help as I could tonight!

Ren: I wish I could do the same

Momose laughed and said: you need to hold back a little, because of yesterday's show?!

Ren: yeah … maybe I said too much, … I do want to make sure to protect her, I'm grateful for my fans, but I learned from my manager how scary they can become! … I don't want her to suffer anymore, so

Momose: she won't! … she will have you by her side and I'm hoping she will accept your overflowing affection for her!

Dumbfounded, Ren asked: am I that obvious?!

Momose: only when she's around you! … I will warn you tonight!

Ren: I would appreciate that, thanks! … really!

Momose: no problem! … I'm all for this! … we should get to training!

Ren: good luck!

Momose: thank you, because I'm going to need it!

Ren chuckled as he walked away, … heading towards the court Kyoko was standing in

Kyoko: well, I guess I'm going to have to find why Tennis is an amazing sport so Tamayo can be truly heartbroken for leaving the sport!

Ren: it's saddening truly!

Kyoko smiled and said: I think I already have an idea, and I think this will help me capture the needed emotions!

Ren: I will do my best to help you reach your goal!

Kyoko: Thank you!

Kyoko looked down to prepare herself … she was ready mentally, … but in the back of her mind, some certain emotions have gone wild … she was so impressed by Ren's Tennis skills, but a part of her was going crazy about his physique, and how hot he was hitting those tennis balls back … she looked charming and captivating, it was almost uncomfortable

She tried to push those thought out, or … maybe to the back of her mind … but a part of her wanted to get her phone out and capture how attractive he was … he's wet hair, he strong forearms … he abs showing when his shirt lefts as he swings his racquet … he was a hot, masculine, athletic man … and she was very attracted to that … a little too much then she thought she would

She thought to herself (I never thought Sho was hot when we played sports together … was I never really in love with him, was it just me thinking he's the one? … because this feels 1000% times different! … No! … Kyoko you need to focus on your task on hand! … your Tamayo, NOW!)

So, for the next hour or so, Kyoko (or Tamayo) improved her tennis skills enough to the point she no longer thought of it as training … but more of a fun sport

Momose stopped for a drink of water and looked at Kyoko and Ren, then thought (they're in their own world now! … if only they have a mirror to see who happy they both are … they're enjoying this and I can tell, it's no longer a training session for them!

Kazumi wiped the sweat off with his towel and dried his racquet, then said: now I see what you meant by what you said earlier!

Momose looked at him and asked: you see it too?!

Kazumi: yup! … those two are madly in love! … as if they're no longer with us! … almost everyone is taking a break, and they're still going!

Kyoko and Ren were in sync by now, and they finally got into a rhythm that allowed them to have long rallies that become so impressive that everyone stopped and watched

Momose: How long can they last!

Kazumi: I don't know … even I don't think I can do that! … they're already at 92 … 93 … 94 …

Momose chuckled and said: it's pointless to count! … those two are too good at this now!

Kazumi: perhaps they should ask him to film the tennis scenes!

Momose: I wish! … but I'm sure they can't afford him due to the budget!

Kazumi: if you ask me, I think he would do it for free if they asked him! … I can see him do anything to be around her … and what's better than to appear on screen together!

Momose: now that you say that, I almost want to see it happen!

Kazumi: come on, this movie won't come out until next year, and the famous Tsuraga-san making a guest appearance will just help get more attention!

Momose looked at him and said: are you thinking of what I'm thinking about?!

Kazumi: I think it's time to take a break and talk to the director!

Ren and Kyoko were so into the rally that they didn't notice all the eyes on them, impressing both the screenwriter and the director … they have reached so far as 182 returns when suddenly a ball rolled on to their court making Ren stop, … causing him to miss the ball, breaking the rally at 183

Kyoko: that was close!

Ren: it's ok! … he picked up the ball and tossed it to Yashiro, who acted like the ball boy, clearing any balls away so he can keep both his charges safe

Kyoko looked around seeing everyone staring at them, and asked worriedly: did we do anything wrong?!

Everyone started clapping for them as the director and screenwriter approached them and said: that's was amazing!

Unsure, Kyoko asked: what's amazing?!

The director laughed and said: the rally! … it was super long, and I counted! … you went back and forth 183 times!

Kyoko's mouth dropped, she didn't even notice they went that long, she was just enjoying it, playing with Ren mostly … but she was also able to figure out Tamayo's feelings for the sport!

Ren wipe his forehead and said: that much?!

Momose: That was amazing!

Kazumi: I'm super impressed! … great Job you two!

Kyoko and Ren thanked everyone and smiled … then took a short break before spending the last 15 minutes they had on-court practice some Tennis tricks that can make Tamayo's Tennis game even better

The Tennis training ended on a good session, as everyone decided to go on lunch at different places, … and they agreed to meet back at the studio at 5 pm

Kyoko, Ren, Yashiro drove to Darumaya, while Momose and her manager drove behind them … Kazumi had taken the address and joined them around 10 minutes later, because he had an important suggestion to talk to the director about, after planning it out with Momose in advance.

(In Todoh's Car)

Todoh had put the address of the mechanic on the GPS, and followed the directions closely … he noticed there was some traffic and that a normal trip of 15 minutes would take longer … which he didn't personally mind

Saena was quiet the whole time, with her internally fighting among herself … pushing her emotions aside, trying to freeze her heart, not caring if it becomes ice-hard that it would shatter if dropped

She was lost in thought when Todoh spoke to her asking: are you going to work on the case?

She looked at him and said nothing, thinking (what's the point, I might not be able to practice law by the end of the week)

Todoh: I know what you're thinking! … you're allowing those dark emotions to take over! … you're not going to lose your license and you're going to keep working as a lawyer! … I will make sure of that as if my life depends on that!

Saena looked away unsure how to respond … she just sighed, then said: don't risk your career for someone like me … you've done more than enough! … this is the end of the help I'm willing to accept!

Todoh raised an eyebrow without looking away from the road … he was on a highway and he needed to pay attention … he asked: are you pushing me away now?!

Saena: not quite, but since I'm getting my car back, you don't need to go above and beyond for me anymore … you …

Todoh cut her off saying: we're still working together, so you can't get rid of me that easily!

Saena looked down and said: we'll see how long that lasts!

Todoh: Mogami, are you going to give up? … I didn't think you would let her get to you like this!

Saena: it's not about that … almost all my clients released me at the drop of a hat … and now the Disciplinary Board will look into this because an accusation like that won't go over their head! … they investigate everything, no matter how small, and something like this is a career killer!

Todoh: They might and even if they do, they will never find anything! … you never did anything inappropriate, I know that for sure, even if I wasn't there to see!

Saena: but what if they do find that some judges are having affairs?! … it's easy to assume I'm the other woman!

Todoh: don't let that hag get to you! … it's her problem her husband isn't faithful! … you defended yourself well, yet now you seem to be unsure of your own argument!

Saena: I just want to disappear! … I want this pain to go away! …

Todoh thought for a minute, before asking: Are you planning on drinking?!

Saena looked down in shame … her first instinct was to turn to alcohol to numb the pain, no matter how much she hated that drink

Todoh: I assure you that it won't solve anything and will only hurt you, hangovers are the worst! … the numbness you get is temporary and it won't solve anything …

Saena: I know that… but

Todoh: You, a sophisticated lawyer can't be caught drinking mid-day … nor can you be caught buying alcohol from a liquor store, not when everyone knows how you look!

Saena bit her lip in frustration, knowing he was correct … she however didn't know what to do with herself if she couldn't even drink

Todoh decided: I can bring you something if you're that adamant about drinking, but I want you to remember that you're not alone anymore, and another drunk Saena shouldn't make an appearance, not to Kyoko at least! … get a grip!

Saena sighed … he was right … but then how was she supposed to calm the roaring storm going on inside of her … she had no way out

Todoh: if you want me to stay and work on the case together, then I'm all yours!

Saena: you can't sacrifice your own clients for someone like me! … don't do this! … I won't be ok with this! … I don't want to affect your work!

Todoh: I don't have any meetings! … today is paperwork day for me! And I have my device with me … so I can work anywhere!

Frustrated, Saena raised her voice and asked: why are you doing this?! … why can't you just let me drown alone! … If I go down, I'm going down alone!

Todoh was displeased, so he shot back saying: I'm not going down! … and neither are you! … this won't be a repeated event of 18 years ago! … no one is dragging anyone down! … not me, not Katagiri-san and neither is any client either!

Saena: you don't know that! … you speak big but …

Frustrated, Todoh interrupted, as he declared: I love you, Mogami!

Speechless, Saena was taken aback for a minute … there was a silence that took over the car … she became flustered and confused, … thinking (that came out of nowhere!)

Todoh took a deep breath before speaking again: You don't have to accept them, nor acknowledge them! … I don't care if you never return them either! … but, I want you to know that you're very important to me! … I want to be by your side, be it as a friend, or even less, just a mere co-worker! … but I can't lose you!

Saena opened her mouth but no words came out … she looked at him with shock because she didn't expect him to be this direct, not now at least

Todoh continued by saying: I didn't move here because of a better job opportunity, but because you left Kyoto! … I may be a fool, but I don't care! … I loved working with you from the beginning, and your personality always fascinated me … you brought the fighter in me, exciting me to see what you will do next

Stunned, Saena: you can't be serious?!

Todoh continued: you always inspired me to work harder, … I don't know what it is, but just being around you makes me happy … that's why I was very upset about what happened 18 years ago! … that guy targeted such a talented young lawyer taking her down like that! … in my head, I was in turmoil and I wanted to do whatever I could to help …

Saena: You …

Todoh: Yes! … I liked you since then, even before he came around, and sometimes I regret not making my feelings known, but strict rules prohibiting dating in our old workplace, meant I had to take my business elsewhere if I were to pursue you, which made me content with just working alongside you

Saena was astonished … she become unsure and started thinking about every moment between them in the past that could prove what he just said … she needed to find anything to disapprove his claims, but the more she thought about it, all the teasing must have been his way of repressing his own feelings

Todoh: when you tried to disappear, … I was so afraid I would lose you forever, that day, I vowed that I will do anything to keep you around! … I didn't want to leave your side, so I met Kyoko, wanting her to know me and hoping that 3-year-old would like me … watching you struggle to get back on your feet hurt a lot because I know you were the best female lawyer and how much potential you have … so when you moved to Tokyo, I had to come too!

Saena swallowed nervously … hearing such a confession took her out of the headspace she was in and made her forget her problems for just a moment

Todoh: look, … I want to be there! … I don't want you falling again, not because of anything, and precisely not because of them! … his return shouldn't destroy you! … you should be destroying him! … them! … if only that old lady!

Saena thought (he was right! … why am I allowing them to get me again … I can't allow it! … I survived and I've grown stronger … I got back on my feet! … I won't be pushed down again!)

Todoh: even if your standing on the edge of a mountain, you won't fall, because I will tie every rope I can find to prevent a fall, no matter how small! … you're not going to be pushed around like before, you're not the old Mogami! … you're the best female lawyer in Tokyo, hands down, and you won every case by working extra hard for long hours! … never took a break to enjoy life! … So, they can't just come and knock that down as if it's some domino piece!

Saena nodded but said nothing

Todoh: I will support you no matter, what … and if you don't want me getting in closer then I will stay where I'm now! … you don't have to force yourself to consider my feelings, because just being there as a friend is more than enough for me! … I promise you that even if I made my feelings clear, I won't expect anything! … just allow me to be a support system, and …

Saena was puzzled by him stopping mid-sentence … and waited for him to continue

Todoh: if your kind enough to let me destroy her, I will do just that!

Saena bit her lip nervously … but nodded

Todoh smiled and said: thank you Mogami! … I will do my best to stop her going forward!

Saena: I should be thanking you instead … you brought me back to my senses, if only for a moment

Todoh: Any time! … you can always count on me … always!

Saena was touched … but her brain was fighting back … she couldn't allow her heart to be swayed once again … she wasn't ready … and she thought that she will never be ready, even if people like Lory told her otherwise … she decided to accept his help and thought (I will figure out a way to thank him, one day)

They reached the intended location and they both got down … Saena met the person who called her and introduced herself … then was led to see her car … which made her feel a little relieved, thinking (I don't need a new car anymore)

The guy said: fortunately, the police found evidence from 2 cars, including yours, they wanted to thank you for cooperating but got too busy tailing the offender

Saena: that's fine, as long as they did whatever they needed to stop that madness … thank you for repairing my car!

The guy asked her to sign some release forms and thanked her once again, giving her the car keys back and bidding her goodbye

She walked to her car and tapped on the hood … thinking (I can finally get back to some form of normalcy … hopefully)

Todoh: so, what's your plan?

Saena: don't ask me that … when I haven't been able to formulate one, at least not yet!

Todoh: are you going to work on the Morizumi case?

Unsure, Saena said: I don't know if I can be focused enough to do so

Todoh: mind if I joined?! … I can be a voice of reason if you need it!

Saena didn't want to trouble him, but couldn't deny him that, … so she nodded and said: only if that won't hinder your work!

Todoh: alright, I will meet you at your place … I want to get a few things first

Confused Saena asked: like?!

Todoh: comfort food!

Saena: you know I don't have any!

Todoh: nope! … you do, you just can't admit it! … let me surprise you!

Saena: whatever … don't get ahead of yourself!

Todoh smiled sly and said: see you there!

Saena sighed but gave in … she knew that she wouldn't be able to keep him away, and if she was, to be honest with herself, she was grateful he stayed by her because he was always able to say things that snapped her back to her sanity … she was guilty of enjoying it to some extent

Todoh: don't count on alcohol because I'm not getting any!

Saena mouthed a thank you and got into her car

Seating in her car felt different however, she felt odd and almost sad to sit there, which didn't make sense, since she was waiting for her car for ages now … she sighed and pushed those thoughts away, trying to enjoy driving her car once again

Todoh drove away, getting out of the parker lot, and was followed by Saena

He drove out to the highway, and Mogami was slowly tailing him, having to get back to driving slowed her down, allowing a few cars to be between them … but that was fine because he wasn't going the same place, not yet at least

They drove like that for 5-7 minutes … then they stopped at a red light, and Todoh looked out of his rear-view mirror spotting Saena's car around 5 cars behind his … he kept looking at her to make sure she didn't look down … the light turned green and he started driving again

He passed the intersection, the car behind him, did so, and the car after … and the car after … until it was Saena's turn

Being on a jam-packed highway, there was no space to wiggle around, and so everyone stayed in lane … as Saena was passing the intersection, a speeding car was driving her way, she looked at it trying to think of a way out, but had nowhere to go, … going left will cause her to collide headfirst, going right will cause to hit the car beside her … going too fast will hit the car in front of her, and stopping would cause the car behind her to rear hers

With no option, she closed her eyes as the offending car slammed hers … she hit her head due to the collision and the airbag was deployed … she heard ringing in her ear, and couldn't really open her eyes to see what happened … she was drifting in and out of consciousness, but tried to resist drifting away … she opened one eye but was unable to see much, … the passenger seat seemed to have disappeared … she closed her eyes trying to process the situation, but the consistent ringing didn't help

Hearing a loud crash from behind, Todoh stole a quick look at the rear-view mirror to see what had caused such a sound. He then slammed the break once he reached the shoulder lane. Swinging the car door open, he exited his car, sprinting as fast as he could towards Saena's car. He cursed himself internally and harshly question himself, thinking "I knew this was a terrible idea!"

He ran as if his life depended on it … he ignored all the cars around him, not paying attention to the others who were injured in the process … he stopped in front of her car to see the damage and cursed once again in frustration

The offending car slammed into Saena's passenger seat, destroying it completely, the initial collision caused further damage when Saena's car was pushed into the car beside hers … which resulted in the cars behind hers crashing into her rear … more cars slammed into each other causing a huge accident involving nearly 16 cars

Todoh ran to the driver seat and tried to open it but it was locked … he started calling her, but she seemed unconscious

Saena kept hearing something, but couldn't make out what it was, but that made her open her eyes with much difficulty, … she rested her head on the driver's seat window, but still couldn't grasp her current condition … Todoh kept calling her, and at some point, he knocked on the windshield, as he feared knocking on her window would hurt her … he kept saying can you open the door, Mogami … can you hear me … but she couldn't

She kept drifting in and out, … but tried her best to stay awake, she moved her right arm, reaching to the car lock, and with all her remaining strength, she unlocked the car, before giving in to the darkness

Todoh opened the door and caught her unconscious body, shouting her name in fear … asking her to hold on to dear life

Author notes:

Chapter 31 Ends here!

Ok, so yes, I did that … Todoh expressed his love, then that happened! … how soon will Kyoko know about this, her reactions?

Sexy athletic Ren is causing Kyoko to fell new things for him?

I'm also thinking of changing the Rating for this story from T to M, eventually, unless people here feel uncomfortable, I might reconsider … let me know
