Nick and Judy were flabbergasted as they sat in the interrogation cell. "I don't believe it..." Nick said in disbelief.
"Just start back from the beginning. We... didn't really make out your frantic ranting." Judy said as she looked over her notes. Indeed, the suspect was rambling.
The suspect in question was a familiar-looking sheep. "Right... I'm Dawn Bellwether." She began. "After... after the raid on the Temple of Cthulu. I was separated from the part of me that accepted the corruption of Cthulu... and did all of those horrible things before." This Dawn was clearly distraught about all the things she had done.
"Honestly, I shouldn't even be surprised to hear that," Nick said. "Judy here was technically split off from her robot half. And Davies has been working on that book... what was it again? I saw some papers on his desk-"
"Look, you turned yourself in. What do you want in exchange for protection?" Judy asked.
"Protection... protection from her," Dawn said. "I... she's after me. When I objected to her plan... she tried to kill me."
"And what is she planning?" Judy asked.
Dawn looked like she was about to pass out. "I... oh stars... I need some air." She said as she struggled to remain conscious.
"Well... she seems genuine," Nick said. "Selene, how're your scanners?"
"She's an anxious mess of nerves and terror. But otherwise, she's telling the truth." Selene said over a speaker.
"Wh-where can I stay?" Dawn asked.
XXXX
"Anna... why didn't you ask me about this earlier?" Davies said in disbelief as Dawn was moved into a spare room.
"And I'm telling you, this was sprung up on me as well!" Anna said. "I don't want her here any more than you do, more than you in fact!"
"Guys, she's standing right here." Nick admonished. "Look, I'm not onboard with this either. But until we can figure out this case, we need to keep her in police custody."
"Th-Thank you." Dawn stuttered. "I really don't know what to say."
"Just tell us everything you can about this other Bellweather," Judy said. "What is she planning, and what does it have to do with Cthulu?"
XXXX
As this was going on. The corrupted part of Dawn Bellwether was forming the last summoning circle she needed. "Yes... now to summon the right incantation." She then opened Jebediah Bellwethers grimoir.
She then began chanting, and from the circles emerged Shoggoths, amorphous, shapeshifting beings that were created as a slave race by the Elder Things long ago. They were still wild, uncontrollable. But that was the idea.
XXXX
Over the next few days, the Shoggoths began attacking Zootopia. As the uncorrupted Dawn testified against the actions she and her 'sister' committed. "Well... I knew that you had issues but-... wow." Mayor Edward Swifthoof said in disbelief.
"Yes... and the Shoggoths are just the beginning. If the other Dawn isn't stopped... well... I don't want to think about it." Dawn shuddered.
"Agreed," Bogo said. "I'll organize a search party for the Eldritch Bellweather."
"You might not have to look too far," Dawn said. An explosion rocked the building.
"Oh please tell me that wasn't her," Edward muttered.
XXXX
Nick and Judy were firing on a Shoggoth that had broken into City Hall. On its back was the corrupted Dawn Bellweather. "Cthulu has already won!"
"Shows what you know! And we aren't going down without a fight!" Judy shouted from cover.
"Yeah! And some other stuff you probably don't know about!" Nick shouted as he leveled a grenade launcher at the Shoggoth.
"My lord has waited for centuries, he shall wait a little longer if need be!" The Cthonic corrupted sheep said.
XXXX
"-so do you have some sort of psychic link to your other half?" Bogo asked Dawn as they descended an emergency elevator.
"Yes... I can see her fighting Nick, Judy, and the other officers in the City Hall lobby." Dawn said nervously.
"And what does she want?" Edward asked.
"The totem... she thinks it's somewhere in City Hall," Dawn said.
Edward sighed in frustration. "Sweat Bucephalus's featherings! That's because that thing is here! The totem is in storage, it was supposed to be shipped out today but-" Edward brayed in frustration. "I swear, if this keeps up my blood pressure is going to kill me before these weird monsters do!"
"Then we keep the totem out of Bellwether's reach!" Bogo said.
"Is it ever so simple?" Dawn said mournfully as the elevator reached the basement. There was already a Shoggoth inside looking for the totem.
XXXX
The fight in the lobby wasn't going well as Bellweather and her Shoggoth gained ground. "You... are such a jerk," Judy said, exhausted as she and her husband were grabbed by the Shoggoth.
"Oh... if you only knew," Bellweather said.
It seemed to be the end for Nick and Judy... but then something unexpected happened. A time portal opened, and out of it emerged Elizabeth. Robot creation and friend of their daughter Pandora. The robotic rabbit promptly blew up the Shoggoth. "Nick, Judy, are you alright?"
"Yeah... we were just losing to a Lovecraftian monster and a mutated sheep," Nick muttered as his shoulder ached.
"What are you doing here anyway?" Judy asked.
"Pandora wanted me to help keep you two safe from unexpected changes to the timeline," Elizabeth said. "She would've come herself. But due to present circumstances, she made me promise to not disclose. She can't come in person."
XXXX
Bogo was wrestling the Shoggoth as it roared in pain. Followed by Elizabeth emerging from a time portal. And blowing the abomination to pieces. "Oh my... please tell me you didn't emasculate you, Chief Bogo?"
Bogo was exhausted from dealing with the Shoggoth. "No... truth be told. I'm glad for the help... and you're related to Wilde-Hopps aren't you?"
"I'm Elizabeth, Pandora Wilde-Hopps's robotic rabbit friend, at your service!" Elizabeth said chipperly.
Dawn was aghast. "THIS IS CRAZY!"
Elizabeth took Dawn into her paws. "Ms. Belwether... you were split into two separate beings due to an aborted ritual to release Cthulu. You should really be used to these oddities by now."
XXXX
By nightfall, Bellweather was restrained inside a high-tech paddy wagon. "Seems odd that all of the Shoggoths would just die after she was knocked out." Mayor Swift-Hoof said. "But I won't look a gift horse in the mouth... obviously."
"I am just glad that I was able to help you," Elizabeth said. "I almost never get to do fun things like this."
"And Clancy?" Nick asked.
"Not with me. If you recall, Pandora created a stationary time portal device." Elizabeth said.
Clancy then abruptly appeared. "Deus! Ex! Machina!" He then left through another portal.
"And of course, he sticks around long enough to confuse us," Judy said.
"So... what do I do now?" Dawn asked. "I can't get a job..."
Nick and Judy felt pity for the troubled ewe. Sure, she had been responsible for one of the greatest strifes between Predators and Prey in Zootopias history. But this Dawn was completely different from the one who orchestrated the Night Howler Crisis. While that Dawn Bellwether was cunning and vicious, this Dawn was anything but.
"We... could use a full-time nanny," Nick said, already regretting the suggestion.
"Yes, Takashi has been overwhelmed with school and work. And it's made it tricky to find reliable babysitters." Judy said.
"That sounds like a delightful idea!" Elizabeth said. "Pandora has been asking me about Ms. Bellweather's timeline anyway." Before anyone could ask for context. Elizabeth returned to the future. "I'm back Pan. Am I late?" She said over a com channel.
"Actually your right on time," Pandora answered back. "Get your butt to the altar, I need my bridesmaid."
