Hi it's been a very long time. i know i say that all to time but this was a long time writing the chapter but i really hope you love it.

Chapter 7-letters of love

The two teens were still asleep, holding each other as morning dawn. Hiccup woke up first, trying to open his tired eyes. He could only see waves of red curls tickling his nose. At first, he thought it was fire but he realised it was Merida's hair. Hiccup glance down to the princess peacefully sleeping. He then remembered everything that happened last night, his confession, Merida's acceptance and their kiss. His smile to her before closing his eyes and buried his head in her curls.

Merida then yawned and opened her eyes. She could feel Hiccup's arms around her lovingly. She now remembered going to Hiccup's room, chatting until they try to kiss when Hiccup confessed that he was a Viking and his feelings for her. She also confessed too and they kiss for the first time then they fell asleep in each other's arms. Merida smile to him and kissed him sweetly on his cheek. The Viking opened his eyes and could see Merida dreamily looking up at him.

"Good morning Hic" Merida softly said.

"Good morning beautiful" Hiccup replied and kiss her on her forehead. They both lay back again but after a second, Merida shot up.

"It's morning!" She cried and quickly jump off the bed. Hiccup sat up, watching Merida running to the door then running back to fetch her blanket and then headed back to the door. Merida just had her hand on the door handle, she turned back to Hiccup. Smiling with joy, Merida walked back up and kissed Hiccup on the lips. Hiccup was surprised but he returned it before Merida pulled away and quickly headed out toward the door.

Hiccup was buzzing. Merida likes him and their kiss. He was over the moon with happiness but his happiness turned into panic as he realises thrown himself on the bed knowing the trouble they would in.

"What are we going to do"

Breakfast was as usual for Elinor as she, Fergus and triples were eating.

"Hubert, don't play with your porridge" Elinor was telling her son off then look over to her husband who was covered with his porridge. The queen sighed at the King and shook her head.

Before she could tell him off, she suddenly heard humming. Elinor turned and was surprised to see it was Merida. She did plan to talk to Merida and Hiccup about what happened yesterday but they must have worked it out because Merida had a spring in her step.

"Morning mum" Merida said happily and kiss her mum on the cheek then Merida then went over the her brothers "good morning boys" and gave a kissed to each boy who were grossed out and quickly wipe it away. "Good morning dad" she said to Fergus and kissed him on the cheek.

"Well, someone woke up on the right side of the bed this morning" Fergus chuckled, wiping the porridge off his shirt.

"Merida, did you and Hiccup had a fight yesterday?" Elinor asked as Merida helped herself to some porridge and sat down.

"No, no, we're actually getting along wonderfully" Merida said happily still thinking about Hiccup.

"Well it's just that..." Elinor began but a voice said.

"Ur...good morning everyone" Hiccup said nervously. Everyone turned to see him by the door, Hiccup saw Merida's face lit up.

"Good morning Hiccup" Elinor politely said, "please. Come and have breakfast" this cause a lump in Hiccup's throat.

"Thank you but...I think me and my friend should return home" Hiccup replied rubbing his arm.

Merida frown in confusion. He was leaving. Yes, she knew Hiccup and Toothless would return home but after last night, did he have second thoughts.

"Oh well...we'll miss you but please, have something and I'll get Maudie to pack food for your trip" Elinor suddenly said.

"Thank you" Hiccup politely said before sat down. He noticed that Merida body language changed, he could tell she was upset, both teens didn't say a word toward breakfast. He grabbed his bag and was given a bundle of foods.

He said goodbye to the Royal couple and the triplets but the princess wasn't around. Hiccup knew Merida was angry and sad that he was leaving so he thought going home now before he made things worse.

Hiccup waved to anyone as he walked out of the kingdom and headed to get Toothless. As Hiccup entered the clearing, he found a the dragon hanging upside down. Toothless spotted him, jumped down and hopped over to his human.

"Ready to return home" Hiccup said to Toothless, Toothless looked over Hiccup's shoulder. Hiccup knew who Toothless was looking for. "No bud, Merida isn't coming" Hiccup told him.

Hiccup fastened the saddle on the Night Fury and headed to a glade. He sighed, feeling nothing but guilt. Just as he was about to climb up on his dragon's back when he heard the sound of hooves.

"Hiccup" they turned at the Hiccup's name and Merida on Angus riding into the glade. She then jumped off her horse and walked to them.

Judging by the princess's face, Toothless back away as Merida got closer. Knowing things wouldn't going to end well.

"Hiccup, you're leaving without saying goodbye" Merida said crossing her arms. Trying to holding her anger back.

"Merida, I can explain..."

"No!, you listen. How could you kiss me and then leave me the next day. Was this your plan the whole time" Merida told him crossly.

"No, No...it wasn't like that. It sort or..."

"Well,I'm not that kind of girl who lets men walk all over them" she interrupted him "and whose who play with my feelings and gets away with it" she added poking him in his chest.

"Mer. My feelings are real, this is the last thing I thought would happen" Hiccup managed to say but Merida didn't believe him.

"If you think you can kiss me and then abandoned me. Well you have a another thing coming, I'll..." Merida didn't finish because Hiccup not knowing what else to do, he grabbed her by her arms and kissed her on the lips. Merida's eyes wide at this. She wanted to free herself and slapped him but she could feel Hiccup pouring his heart into the kiss. Seeing his feelings were true, she kissed him back and let her arms around his head and neck.

Toothless and Angus couldn't believe what they were watching. They knew their friends had feelings but not this fast. They gave each other confusing looks, wondering what on earth happened last night.

"I will never abandon you" Hiccup whispered to Merida after they separated.

"Then don't leave" Merida replied. Hiccup pulled to look at her.

"Merida, you don't understand" Hiccup calming said gently taking the Princess's hands. "If I don't return home, my dad will come looking for me and if he found me, he'll think you kidnapped me and if that happens, he'll attack DunBroch without question and...I don't want that to happen to you or your family"

Merida felt a horrible pain in her chest, guilt rush toward her as Hiccup spoked.

"I'm sorry Hic, I'm being selfish" Merida amitted hanging her head. Her selfishness almost destroyed her kingdom and her mum. "I'm a terrible person, here I am wanted to keep you and..."

"Hey, hey" Hiccup said soothingly, he cupped the Princess's face, rubbing away her tears. "Terrible people don't call themselves terrible people and I don't think you're like that"

"But I turned my mum into a bear all because I didn't want to get marry, who were do that unless they're selfish" Merida asked.

"Well, I think you won't the only one who made mistakes, your mum put her wants and views before thinking about how it effect you" Hiccup reassure which calm Merida.

Merida was grateful for his understanding nature. She signed and lend into his hand.

"You're right Hic. How are you so good at understanding people? " Merida asked

"Well hanging around with the offspring of lightning and death itself, you learn a few things" Hiccup joked which made Merida laugh and intertwined her hand with his.

"That's what I really like about you and want you to stay, I don't have anyone my age around here and Angus is the only real friend I have, I know there's my old suiters but don't see them to really have any connection with but with you, it difficult. It feels like we know each other for a life time.

"Yeah me too" Hiccup said, he understood her about being lonely, he pressed his head against Merida's. They closed their eyes for a moment until they heard Tootless purring. They looked over to the dragon who gave they a small nod, seeing their pain in their eyes.

"Yeah, we'll go now" Hiccup said, he then turned back to Merida. "I'll write to you as soon as I get home. Merida tried to hide her sadness but Hiccup could see it. He wishes that he could give her something to show his love then he remembered he did. Merida watched as Hiccup rummies though his pockets until he found something, Hiccup softly took her hand and place the gift.

She opened her hand to find a necklace with a wooden pendant.

"It's was my mum's, my dad gave this to her before they were married,so..."Hiccup explained rubbing his neck, now thinking if the necklace wasn't a good idea but seeing the redhead smiling to him.

"I love it Hic" Merida said, genuinely happy to his gift. Toothless and Angus walked up to Hiccup and Merida to say their goodbyes. The dragon got on his hind legs and hug Merida which caught she by surprise.

"Oh I can see why you two getting along" Hiccup said. she laughed before she petted and stoked Toothless head.

Hiccup rubbed the horse's face as Angus sniffed him, tickling Hiccup on the cheek. Toothless and Angus moved, so the teens can say their farewell.

Hiccup breathe before said "Well I guess it's..."

"Please I don't want to say goodbye" Merida interrupted without thinking

"Then will this do" and Hiccup kissed her again, gently than before. Merida easily returned it. Hoping this wouldn't be their last. After they finished, Merida felt his hand slipped away as Hiccup climbed onto Toothless. Their share one loving look and the Hiccup and Toothless took off into the air.

Merida continue to watch them until she couldn't see them anymore. She looked down at the pendent, her fingers running over the grooves. Before, if Merida was giving any fancy jewellery, she would just wouldn't wear them and secretly through them in the treasury room but not only the pendent was made out of wood, it was something precious keepsake of Hiccup's mum.

Merida put the necklace over her head. She fixed her hair as Angus stood the next to his friend, looking the necklace. Merida held on her gift, looking up to the blue sky. Praying for her Viking will return.

Stoick was waiting, hoping, praying for his son's return. It had been a week since Hiccup and Toothless's disappearance. He wanted to go and search for them, Astrid and the others told him what had happened, he knew that Hiccup and his Night fury had a habit of finding trouble and getting out it, so he thought

they will probably come home. His mind drifted as he looked down toward the Meeting Hall doors, while Gobber was talking about something that Stoick wasn't really listening to. Worst case scenarios kept running through his head until he couldn't take it anymore.

"I'm going to find my son" and he then stood up, grabbed his helmet and headed to the door.

"What?" Gobber yelled when he finally saw the chief was halfway out of the door. His wooden leg made a clanking sound on the stone floor as he quickly caught up to him. "Stoick, you and I know those two can handle themselves. If they can beat down a huge monstrosity like the Red Death, stop worrying man, they'll be back here before you know it".

"I know, everyone's telling to stop worrying, but I can't stop, I've got this awful feeling that somethings wrong, really wrong". Stoick explained opening the door as the two Vikings walked into the sunshine. "It's not Hiccup or Toothless. I

nearly lost him, I don't want go through that again", he sighed looking out to the open ocean. Hoping for a glimpse of his son.

Gobber patted his friend's shoulder "I know Stoick, it's perfectly understandable. Parents worry about their children especially at Hiccup's age. I remember when you were his age..." and Gobber recalled the time when they went treasure hunting and delt with pirates. Stoick pulled out his telescope, pointing to the sky. He looked at the sea as Gobber was retelling the part about the Seashocker attack when Stoick could see a black outline that he recognised in a heartbeat.

"Hiccup. It's Hiccup" he cried with joy. Shoving the telescope at Gobber he rushed down the hill. Gobber watched him bewildered, wondering if his friend was ok. He looked through the telescope and grinned when he saw the boy and

the Night Fury.

Hiccup and Toothless smiled as their home came into view. The young Viking patted Toothless's side before they flew faster. They could already see a huge

crowd of Vikings and dragons gathering, cheering for them. They landed in an opened space made by the crowd. Hiccup waved to his friends as they ran up to them. Hiccup jumped off his dragon's back when he heard a loud cry.

"HICCUP" he turned to see his dad pushing his way through the crowd, his face filled with relief and happiness. The huge man ran and picked up his son. Hiccup groaned in pain as his dad gave him a rib cracking hug and eventually put Hiccup down.

"Welcome home son" Stoick said putting his arm around Hiccup's shoulder. Hiccup couldn't help but smile at his dad. It was good to be home but it was wonderful to know his dad cared for him.

"Tonight, we celebrate the return of my son" the chief declared and a wave of cheers erupted from the crowd. Later that night, a huge party was in full swing. Lots of eating, singing and drinking. Everyone asked Hiccup what happened to

him and Toothless. He didn't tell them the truth about Scotland, so he said that they landed on a large deserted island with unusual animals and abandoned

buildings. Hiccup felt tired after all the excitement and the long journey, but he wanted to start his letter to Merida.

He said his goodbyes to everyone, then he and Toothless headed home. Hiccup got out papers and his pencil, sat by his desk and started to write, to his

surprise Toothless was already asleep. Hiccup's dad came upstairs an hour later to check on him, Stoick was taken back to find his son asleep at his desk. Smiling fondly, Stoick draped a blanket over Hiccup, rubbed his back gently and then headed to bed.

Hiccup woke up early the next morning, having wrote his letter to Merida all he needed to do now was get it to her. The people of Berk had a great way to deliver things to other clans which they had created. They used Terrible Terrors to fly and send message like the hawks (which Hiccup saw when he was in DunBroch). He fetched one of the tiny dragons, placed his letter in a tube and tied it around its leg. Hiccup took out the cloth that held his food and let the Terror sniff it, getting the scent to find Scotland.

"Ok, if you find where they keep the letters. Place it among the others before anyone notices" Hiccup told it, (dragons understand what humans are saying. It's still a mystery) the Terrible Terror took off and headed west. The young Viking looked down, praying Merida would get his letter soon as the dragon flew

further away.

The small dragon travelled for 3 days, only stopping for food and sleep until finally it reached the shores of DunBroch. The little village was slowly coming alive as fishermen sailed out and villagers were heading to market with their goods. The Terror search for anything that looked like letters. He sat on a roof when he suddenly heard whistling below him. The dragon looked down to see a human man holding a bag on his shoulder.

"Good morning, Jamie" a woman holding a baby called, walking over.

"Morning Malvine" he answered waving merrily "and how's wee Bonnie today" cooing which made the baby girl giggle.

"She's doing well and her brother adores her" Malvine said added "so, any letters from my sister, I'm waiting for news on our mother".

"Sorry, nothing today, I'm headed to Dingwall tomorrow so I'll see what I can

do" the Terror heard this, watching them chatting away. "Well, I'm off. I just get my letters from my boxes and head to the castle" the tiny dragon was in luck, when he heard this, he searched for the boxes he kept a close eye on the humans so as not to be seen. Jamie dropped his bag and letters and parcels scattered on the ground. The Terrible Terror looked around and found the boxes of letters. Luckily, one of them was left open, so the Terror skilfully placed Hiccup's letter among the others. The dragon quickly flew off into a tree just as Jamie reached the boxes. He picked up the letters, put them in his bag and jumped on his horse. The terrible Terror watched the Scotsman ride on his way to DunBroch Castle.

The next morning, Merida didn't get out of bed until 10.51. She really did not want to get up. In fact, she didn't feel like doing anything. Since Hiccup had left Merida hadn't been herself, even her favourite things, archery and exploring weren't as fun as they used to be. She couldn't help but think of her Viking, wondering if he was ok, if he had made it home and if he would remember her. Merida made herself get up, dress and head down for food.

As she reached the stairs, her mum appeared with a tray of food. "Mum, what are you doing" Merida asked in surprise.

"I knew you wouldn't come down to breakfast, so I bought breakfast up to you" Elinor said giving her daughter a warm motherly smile. They walked to one of

the large balconies and sat on one of the wooden benches.

They were quiet for a moment watching the clear blue sky, Elinor glanced over to Merida. Elinor could see her daughter slowly munching, deep in thought.

"Merida, are you ok? You haven't been yourself for a while, I haven't seen you doing archery" Elinor asked.

The princess sighed before saying "I know, I'm just thinking about Hiccup" Elinor nodded, she thought that Hiccup might be the reason why Merida's been acting strangely. "I don't know if he's home, if he's lost or..." Merida trail off and stared at her feet. Some other things were on her mind but she couldn't say them in

front of her mum.

"I know, I know" her mum said petting Merida's back which made her turn to look up at her. Then her mother remembered something that had come this morning. "Oh, this arrived for you" she said and picking up a letter from the tray.

"Who's it from?" Merida asked as she took the letter and turned it in her hand.

"I'm not sure" the queen said simply, but she had a good hunch who it was from. Merida opened the envelope and eagerly pulled the letter out. She unfolded it and gasped when she saw the name at the bottom of the letter. "What is it?" Elinor asked surprised by Merida's reaction.

"It's Hiccup! it's from Hiccup" Merida cried out and without warning, Merida got up and ran towards the door. A shocked queen didn't know what to think. She didn't think her child would be as excited as she was, but at least she was happy and that was all that mattered to Elinor.

Merida reached her room and shut the door. Now she was alone she could

savour every word, she sat on her bed and began.

Dear Merida

I finally started this letter after my welcome home feast. Anyway, Toothless and I returned home with no problems, everyone was there to welcome us, including

my dad. He said he's glad that I'm home and wants to go fishing tomorrow. We have a lot catching up to do. I hope you and your family are ok, if you're wondering, I sent a terrible terror to deliver it, (hope it arrived in one piece) I put some grass from Berk in the envelope, the Terror will pick up its scent so you can send a letter to me, I really hope to see you again soon.

Forever yours

Hiccup

The princess couldn't stop smiling. She lay back on her bed, clutching the letter to her chest. Giggling with happiness.

Merida read and reread the letter many times. Her mum left Merida's food outside her door, knowing that she wouldn't be seeing her for a while. Merida

didn't waste time writing her letter to Hiccup, while she ate the food. After a few tries, she was happy with her letter. Merida gave it to Jamie the next day and

when he put it with the other letters in the boxes, the Terrible terror found it and instantly flew off to Berk.

For the last 3 days, Hiccup had woken up early to check if he'd got a reply. He had no luck until he noticed the Terrible Terror he'd sent was on his perch.

Hiccup undid the tube and found Merida's letter. After giving the Terror a big fish for a great job, he rushed to his workshop. He sat down and opened the letter. Hiccup checked to see if anyone was walking by before he began to read.

Dear Hiccup

You wouldn't believe how happy I was when I received your letter. How is Toothless? I hope he's doing well, perhaps he's enjoying plenty of fish since you've returned home. My family and I are well, nothing exciting has happened here since you left. I'm happy you made it home safely. I wish I could see Berk one day; it sounds like a wonderful place full excitement and adventure. Maybe one day.

Forever yours

Merida

Hiccup felt a tear on his cheek while he read. He wiped it just as Toothless walked in to check on him.

"Look Bud, Merida wrote this" Hiccup said showing Merida's letter to his dragon. Toothless sniffed the paper and then purred, recognising her scent. The dragon watched Hiccup look back at letter, smiling warmly thinking of Merida's words.

During the next month, Merida and Hiccup sent letters to each other. Both were so happy when they received their letters. Their letters were delivered early in the morning and they read them again before bed.

Dear Mer

I'm writing this while Toothless and I are sitting on the cliff of the stones that's out to sea. You would love it. I wish I could show you Berk, the Plaza, the Meeting Hall and the Cove where me and Toothless first met. It's so amazing

seeing it all from above. I'll send you a drawing of Berk, to show what my home looks like. Hope you like it.

Forever yours Hiccup

Merida read his recent letter again in bed with Hiccup's drawing lying beside it on the bed. When she'd finished, she placed it in a wooden box that Merida kept her letters in, she wanted to treasure Hiccup's lovely words.

Hiccup too kept Merida's letters safe. Hiccup had all of Merida's letters together, tied with string. When he was done his princess's letter for 20th time that day, he undid the string, placed the letter on top of the others and tied them up again and placed it with great care back under his pillow.

Merida and Hiccup were happy when they received the letters, but the feeling of loneliness was getting bigger by the day. They would be lying if they said they didn't miss one another, what was worse was that they couldn't talk about it to anyone. The only way they could get their feelings out was through their letters.

On one particular day, Merida felt dreadful because she was missing Hiccup, it had been raining and her parents had gone to Macintosh. With nothing much to

do, Merida started writing a letter to Hiccup. Sitting at her window, listening to the rain hitting the glass as she wrote.

Dear Hic

It's raining here at the moment and my mum and dad were needed at

Macintosh, so there's nothing happening as my writing.

I wish you were here. I miss hearing you talk about your adventures; I so much want to laugh with you and... I wish I could kiss you. I want to visit you but I'd have to explain to my parents why and it would take me too long to get there by boat. I hope you'll come back one day. I hope this'll reach you soon.

Forever yours Merida

"Oh, come on" Hiccup groaned when another arrow missed the target again.

Hiccup had been practicing archery, he was improving a lot but knew he'd never be as good as Merida. Hiccup had set up targets in the dragon academy that he and the dragon riders owned. He was determined to improve his skills before he saw Merida again.

"When did you get into archery" Hiccup nearly let go of the arrow he was currently about to shoot. He quickly put it down before turning to see Astrid, folding her arms.

"Oh, Astrid hi, I didn't see you there" he said, laughing weakling.

"I can see that" the blonde girl said and walked up, adding again. "When did you get into archery?"

"Oh this.." Hiccup replied looking at the bow. Thinking how to explain without mentioning the fact it was about a girl. "Well, I thought should learn some combat. In case we're facing enemies without our dragons. I've have some experience with archery, so I thought I'd try it".

Astrid listened patiently, the thought crossed her mind that Hiccup was hiding something. It wouldn't be the first time, he'd managed to hide Toothless from everyone for months. After following Hiccup, she'd discovered the truth. She

wanted to tell everyone but after basically being kidnapped, they changed her mind about dragons. Astrid promised to keep their secret. She told herself that she was overthinking and it would be good for Hiccup to learn a new skill.

"Not a bad idea, it will definitely be handy" she said as Hiccup began to tidy up the equipment, the blonde-haired girl helped clean up. "I never wanted to mention it but I wanted to know. Did something happen when you and Toothless were missing?" Astrid suddenly asked after putting the target away.

"Like I said, Toothless and I flew in the clouds for hours until lightning hit us and we crash landed. After we awoke, we discover we were on an island and Toothless's tail fin was damaged. So, we explored the island while I fixed the tail" Hiccup explained, which was true even though he'd left out some details.

When they'd finished, they left the academy and headed towards the village.

"But you were lost for a week with barely anything to survive" Astrid said as they walked.

"The island had enough food and clean water and found an old castle" Hiccup said and added before she could ask "we also found abandoned tools, so we could rebuild Toothless's tail fin"

"I just wish I had followed you, everyone said that you and Toothless would be

fine and could handle it" Astrid admitted as she folded her arms.

"Yeah, I'm sorry. I know my dad was worried too, Gobber told me". He answered, finally reaching the workshop Hiccup where Hiccup worked. "He said my dad wouldn't eat or sleep until he knew I was safely home".

"Yeah, it must have been lonely out there, on an unmarked island, facing monstrous creatures and nearly starving for days..."

"Thank you for summing that up" Hiccup said sarcastically. The he noticed his dragon gesturing to him, the Night Fury had something in his mouth. As he walked up to him, Hiccup could see it was one of his drawings of Merida. Then he remembered his drawings of the princess was scattered all around his workroom. "Err, excused me" and ran off.

At that moment, Stormfly landed next to Astrid., wondering what was happening. She petted her dragon and they watched him in stunned silence as Hiccup disappeared into his workshop and shut the door.

He frantically grabbed every single drawing and hid them in drawers and boxes, he was surprised how many pictures of Merida there were.

"Hiccup! Toothless! what are you too doing?" Astrid shouted, banging on the door. Hiccup gulped. Placing the last of the drawings away. Sighing with relief, he opened the door to a very annoyed Astrid, just then Toothless spotted a stray drawing left on the floor. The dragon quickly sat on it just as Hiccup stepped aside and let Astrid come in. " What was that about?" She questioned.

"Oh. Toothless reminded me that I left the workshop a mess" Hiccup said bumbling a bit. Astrid eyed both of them with their goofy grins. They were definitely hiding something, but she decided to wait till he was ready to tell her.

"Hiccup, I'm saying this as your friend. You know you can talk to me" Astrid said

stepping at front of him.

"I know. I can't stop thi-...stop being on edge since I came home". Hiccup manage to say, he nearly let his secret slip out.

"Hey, you get through this" she said as she held his chin, "nothing would hold you down" and leant in to kiss him.

Hiccup eyes widened, he had been kissed by Astrid before, but now this felt that this was wrong and Merida flash in his mind. He quickly turned and pretended to cough.

"Sorry, I have a something (cough) in my throat" Hiccup said, he felt like he was cheating on Merida even though they weren't official.

Astrid was a little taken back. She knew they weren't a couple and she knew he'd had feelings for her, now he barely noticed her affections. Normally, she would have question him with her axe and her strength but she wasn't the same girl anymore.

"Ok, but if you do need to talk, you know where to find me" and with that. She turned to Stormfly, jumped on and flew off.

Hiccup and Toothless both gave a sigh and collapsed, Hiccup in his chair and his dragon on the floor. Hiccup looked up at his blueprints, he was relieved but his mind was spinning, he needed to clear his head. Toothless had the same thought as he looked out of the door, he smiled to his dragon and they both then set off

to the cove.

"It's hopeless bud, I miss her too much. Every time I close my eyes, I see Merida's face" Hiccup said, his head in his hands as he sat on a rock.

Toothless was drinking from the lake while listening to his friend's lament.

"I can't stop thinking about how's she doing. I know she's ok her letters say so, but I want to see her, her bright smile, her beautiful eyes, her fiery hair, her...OW" Hiccup was caught off guard in his daydream. He looked up to see his dragon who knocked him over as if to say 'snap out of it'.

"Your right bud". Hiccup said, Toothless nodded in reply. Hiccup pulled out his book and his drawings. Why did he fall for his people's enemy? Why does he have feelings for Merida? He knew their love would be trouble, so many emotions spun in his head. Mostly the fear and heartbreak if everyone, especially their parents found out and the melancholy loneliness he felt of missing his beautiful princess.

He cast his book to the ground which fell open, Toothless looked sadly at his friend, burying his face in his hands. The dragon glared down at the drawings of Merida, Toothless didn't want Hiccup to be depressed and he knew what to do. He carefully picked the book up, walked to Hiccup and softly growled to get his attention.

Hiccup looked through his fingers to see Toothless gently pushing his book near him. Hiccup moved his hands away as Toothless purred again. Hiccup could tell what he was saying "go to her". Hiccup picked up one of the drawings, he couldn't help but smile. His desire to see her and Toothless's encouragement made up his mind.

He stood up and turned to his dragon "Ok, if we going back to DunBroch, we

need supplies, food and tools. We need to see if there's a map, we got there by chance so to find it again a map would be useful" Toothless answered with a happy growl "and we'll see Merida again" he murmured. For the first time in a

long time, he felt happy and excited to return to Scotland, to see his redheaded princess.
