Chapter 43: Reassurances
(Ren's Apartment)
Kyoko Thanked Yashiro for dropping her off at Ren's place, and waved as he drove away … she entered the building and went to the elevator
She took the elevator up, and reached Ren's floor … she walked towards the apartment, but before she reached there, she stopped and checked herself
She opened a small mirror and checked her makeup … touched it up just a bit, before putting it away, and taking a deep breath
She then rang the doorbell and stood there nervously … debating her outfit choice, thinking it too late to turn back and get changed
A minute later, the door opened, and a tall handsome man smiled at her and welcomed her in
Kyoko: good evening!
Ren smiled his heavenly smile, saying: welcome! … I'm glad you came … by the way, you look amazing!
Surprised by the compliment assault he threw her way, Kyoko looked down shyly
Ren: come in!
As she got in, she took off her shoes … then slowly followed him into the living room
Ren seemed a little nervous himself … he ushered her to the living room, and told her to sit and relax
Kyoko: what about dinner?
Ren: I'm making it right now! … you just sit here and relax!
Skeptical, Kyoko asked: are you sure you don't need help?
She knew that he did great in her lessons, but she was always with him in the kitchen … the only time he cooked for her on his own, is when he made the terrible rice omelet and she wasn't ready to eat that again

Ren remembered what he left on the open flame and cursed: Shit! … (he then disappeared into the kitchen)

Nearly 10 minutes went by before Ren emerged out of the kitchen, with two glasses of juice

He put the glasses of juice on the table, before going back to the kitchen once again
Kyoko looked at the kitchen doorway in anticipation … she tried to guess if he made the rice omelets, but perfectly this time … or did he make something else that she taught him … or maybe something new?
She fidgeted in her place until she saw the tall figure come out with two heavy plates
As he placed the two plates down and placed her plate in front of her … he said: I tried my best, I can't promise it would taste good, … but I still hope you'd like it!
Kyoko's eyes grew bigger as she looked at the plate in front of her … it was her favorite dish in the whole world, and Kuon did his best to prepare it for her … she looked at him with excitement and asked: you made this for me?!
Ren smiled sheepishly and nodded, saying: I tried …
Kyoko was beyond excited to try it … she smiled happily as she said: Thank you! … I'm impressed! … it looks amazing!

Ren smiled and said: sure!
Kyoko: can I try it?!
Ren: go ahead … (he nervously sat next to her, and rubbed the back of his neck, trying to calm his nerves down … hoping it would taste decent enough for her liking)
Kyoko was super excited looking at her plate … she took her fork and knife and then cut into her burger steak while humming cheerfully
Ren saw how cheerful she was and was glad his efforts made her this happy … he loved her, and seeing her like this made his heart dance in joy!
Kyoko took a bite, and Ren looked at her, anticipating her opinion
She closed her eyes as she tasted her first bite … she raised her eyebrows as amazing flavors exploded in her mouth
She sounded: hmmm … umm …
Then she said: this is absolutely delicious!
Ren was slightly in disbelief … maybe in denial … he knew that she loved this dish so much, but he wasn't sure he did a great job making it … he followed the recipe, but was still unsure if he chose the right one because there were many different variations of the recipe that had different amounts or even ingredients
He looked at her and she didn't seem dishonest … in fact, her facial expression showed how happy she was as she took another bite
He asked: you like it?!
Kyoko exclaimed: I don't just like it … I love it!
She took another bite, then said: you've outdone yourself~! … I'm beyond impressed!
Still, in disbelief … Ren asked: really?!
Kyoko frowned and asked: you don't believe me?! … try it for yourself!
Ren took a deep breath, then took a bite, then he looked up in surprise and said: It tastes great!
Kyoko nodded and said: I told you so! … I'm going to enjoy every bite!
Ren smiled and said: I'm glad you like it … I wasn't sure I used the right recipe … or if I did it correctly … I even burned two eggs in the process!
Kyoko: right recipe?!
Ren: well, I found many different recipes and versions of it … and I wasn't sure if my pick was to your liking!
Kyoko: you picked the perfect one, and did it flawlessly! … I could eat this every day!
Ren smiled his heavenly smile once again, causing Kyoko to freeze
Most of her grudges have been eradicated because of this smile, that he keeps shining at her … she looked down and said: thank you so much! … I truly appreciate it!
Ren: I'm glad you love it … I will try to make it for you more often since you approved of it!
Kyoko smiled happily and said: and I will gladly eat it! … Thank you Kuon! … really!
Ren nodded and then they both resumed eating their food in a blissfully happy mood
(In Yashiro's Apartment)
Yashiro smiled slyly as he put his gloves on, and took his phone to make a call
He dialed the numbers he aimed to call, and all 3 group members joined the call
Kanae yawned and said: excuse me, it's a bit late, … but I'm here!
Chiori: I'm glad you could join!
Momose: same here!
Yashiro: thanks all for coming onto the call
Kanae: this better be good!
Chiori: so, … what's new?!

Momose: your right! … I heard that too! … I went to the premiere with Kazumi-kun, and we saw the odd Heel siblings!

After Ren and Kyoko finished their food … they both got up and an argument about who gets to do the dishes ensued
Kyoko argued that she should do the dishes since he cooked
But, Ren refused to allow her to deal with all the mess he made, so he insisted on cleaning it later
Kyoko: you should never leave dishes around, … if you don't do them right away, they will never be done!
Ren: I won't sleep until I do them, I promise!
Kyoko: I can't let you sacrifice sleep because of me!
Ren: I'm not sacrificing sleep … but at the same time, I don't mind doing so, if it's for you!
Kyoko: Kuon!
Ren: please Kyoko! … just let it go for once!
Kyoko: you just don't want me to see the utter mess that is in the kitchen!

Kyoko felt a little self-conscious as they walked back to the living room … Ren noticed that and asked: something wrong?
Kyoko shook her head and said: no …
Ren sat down and said: do you want to watch another movie … or maybe … watch a show or something?
Kyoko shook her head again … then slowly approached Ren, sitting beside him silently
Ren noticed that Kyoko sat beside him instead of facing him like usual … so he smiled happily … this progress was to be celebrated in his mind, and he loved that she took the initiative to sit beside him
Kyoko nervously sat beside him, clenching both her hands, as she debated her next move
Ren wasn't sure why she looked so nervous and wanted to comfort her, but before he could, she put one hand on his shoulder, and pressed her lips on his cheek … giving him a quick kiss … she then looked down shyly
Ren was pleasantly surprised … he didn't mind it at all, in fact, ... he loved that … but he wasn't sure what it meant, so he tried to ask, but she spoke first
Kyoko: Thank you for cooking tonight … especially since you cooked me my favorite dish of all time! … I truly enjoyed it!
Ren smiled, as he tried to fight a feeling inside him that wanted to tease her … he never expected her to kiss him on the cheek, because he did that once on valentines, and she freaked out … so he thought this kiss was some form of progress in their relationship … yet he wasn't sure how far the progress went … he wanted so much to ask … but he restrained himself
Kyoko spoke again saying: I don't usually do this … no, I never do this, … but, I will make the exception for you! … I know this isn't a Japanese gesture, but since you shared it with me, I thought maybe it's ok to do the same …
A minute of silence ensued, making Kyoko feel a little insecure
Suddenly, she said panicked, saying: I'm so ….
Ren interrupted her apology in an instant, and said: don't apologize! … I don't mind! … in fact, I'm grateful that I get to be the exception! … this is equally special to me, as it is to you!
Kyoko looked at him and nodded … then said: so, you don't mind that I did that?

Ren ended the call that took less than 3 minutes … he put his phone down and asked: found something?
Confused, Kyoko: umm … why do you have this?! (she held up Fuwa Sho's "Prisoner" single)
Ren cursed inside his head forgetting his plan to hide his secret collection of all the work she was a part of
Muddled, Kyoko: I didn't know you liked his music!
Ren declared: I don't! … (he then honestly explained): I only have this because you appeared in it!
Bemused, Kyoko: what?! … you got this because of me?!
Ren nodded and confessed coyly: I have a collection of all the things you participated in … I know you might think it's creepy, … but I think this is my way of supporting you and your career … just like how I admire my father's work … I wanted to admire yours too …
Kyoko: I don't think it's creepy … because, … I do that too
Ren was pleasantly surprised once again … so he asked: you have a collection, too … based on the work I appeared in?
Kyoko nodded, then added: I also have some of the magazines you appeared in … not all because sometimes I miss buying them
Ren's smile widened … he then said: I collect those too …
Kyoko's smile turned into laughter
Ren joined her and they both laughed for a good few minutes
Kyoko wiped the tears that accumulated from laughing too hard … she took a deep breath and then said: really?!
Ren sheepishly answered: yes … really! … is it too weird?!

Kyoko met with the commercial producer, who loved her, and hired her to shoot the commercial soon
She then went to meet the musician, who was a little picky about who gets to be in their music videos with her
