Chapter 45: Diamond Mine

(In LME Agency – Love me section room)

Kyoko sat down and drank her tea as she flipped through the new script she received

Yashiro: I confirmed, there will be some skating scenes Kyoko-chan!

Kyoko: alright then! … I will look for some lessons!

Yashiro: done that already! … this is one of the perks of having a manager!

Kyoko: you found someone?!

Yashiro: yes, … you're not that busy until you fly to Okinawa, so you can train on ice skating! … I found a great teacher, and she's looking forward to working with you!

Kyoko: that's amazing!

Yashiro: however, … I think we should drop the other series you have to audition for

Kyoko: why?

Yashiro: well, they changed the audition time and pushed it back … so it will be held when you are out of town

Kyoko: oh! … it can't be helped then!

Yashiro: yes … besides, when Takarada-san saw you're scheduled, he advised we skip that audition altogether because he doesn't want you to be too busy

Confused, Kyoko: why?!

Yashiro: well, he might have some plans for you … or another mission, … who really knows?

Kyoko: a new mission?!

Yashiro: I'm not sure if it's a mission or a new role … he just advised us not to pack your schedule … he didn't tell us why just yet!

Kyoko: I see … I wonder what is he up to!

(In LME Agency – Lory's office)

Takarada saw Ruto walking towards him, so he asked: so, what happened?

Ruto: no word yet …

Takarada: well, that's ok … just keep your eyes peeled for any news … I want to be the one who organizes that!

Ruto: I will

Takarada: so, do you have something different for me?

Ruto: yes, … Director Seiji Shingai is here to see you

Takarada: Shingai?! … that's a surprise! … I didn't expect him to see me this soon!

Ruto: shall I bring him in?!

Takarada: yes, please! … and bring some tea!

Ruto: understood …. (he goes to let Shingai in and then goes to prepare some tea)

Shingai: Thank you for seeing me … I'm sorry for coming without an appointment, but I was in a hurry … or rather, I was just very excited, so I had to come right away!

Takarada: have a seat! … I only allowed you to come in because I know you would never disappoint me … you always have amazing ideas so I'm intrigued … however, I must warn you, I have a guest coming soon, so I can't entertain you for long!

Shingai: sure, … I'm grateful you're willing to give me some time out of your very busy schedule

Takarada: so, what is it this time?!

Shingai: I would like you to lend me your fairy!

Slightly confused, Takarada asked: my fairy?!

Shingai: yes! … I would like to work with Kyoko this time!

Takarada: Hmmm … that's interesting!

Shingai: this is an amazing opportunity, please consider it!

Takarada interested: show me what you got!

Shingai handed him the original script that summaries the whole story of the series he's planning to direct

Takarada mused: this is a starring role!

Excited, Shingai explain: I think she's perfect for it! … I can't imagine anyone else playing this role!

Takarada: hmm … (he tapped his fingers on the table a few times, while he read the summary of the story)

Shingai: so, what do you think?!

Takarada looked up … then back at the script and said: this ….

Shingai: would you be willing to summon your fairy for this?!

Takarada put down the script, crossed his arms and stared at the man seated in front of him, and said: Ruto, can you summon Mogami-Kun's manager … I believe he's here already!

Ruto: yes sir!

Shingai: don't make me wait any longer, …. Tell me what you think!

Takarada: you should love the suspense! … you're a director last I checked!

Shingai sat on the edge of his seat and said: sure, I am!

Takarada: then, you shall wait for it!

Yashiro came a few minutes later … he greeted the president and director Shingai

Shingai: your Ren-Kun's manager!

Takarada: also, Mogami-kun's manger!

Shingai: impressive! … you are the manager of not one but two fairies! … you're like a fairy manager!

Takarada: you watched that interview, I assume!

Shingai: yes! … and I was shocked when I heard the girl I met back then was both Mio and Natsu! … I also talked to Konoe, who's a good friend of mine, and he recommended her to me … I heard she played Setsu, Cain's younger sister!

Takarada: oh! … so, you know about that?!

Shingai: sure, he told me he was surprised when he met her … he didn't know she played Mio and Natsu until later on … he was very impressed with her embodiment of Setsu!

Takarada: yes, she was great indeed! … Yashiro-kun, take a look at the script and tell me if you think it's a good idea for Mogami-kun to star in this!

Yashiro took the script and read it … then looked at Takarada with a shocked expression

Takarada: what do you think?

Yashiro: she can't possibly miss such an amazing opportunity!

Takarada: do you think she's ready for such a role?

Yashiro: definitely! … this is going to be very challenging, but I think she has the skills to play this role perfectly! … I have no doubt she can do it!

Shingai got excited to hear that, so he looked at Takarada expecting his decision

Takarada: hmm … so you think this should be her debut project?!

Confident, Yashiro answers: I believe it's about time she got the main role!

Takarada: I can't disagree … but at the same time, I was hoping her debut would be a romantic series of some sort!

Yashiro: president! … I understand you want her to do something like that, but she can't possibly lose this amazing role! … I think that this role might help her gain more attention compared to a romantic series! … this takes more skills to portray! … I will make sure that she finds a romantic show after this one, if needed, as long as you give her the ok to do this project!

Shingai: I can add a romance element in this if needed!

Takarada: No need! … I agree with Yashiro! … this will be the perfect show to showcase her skills as an actress! … sure, it doesn't have romance, but I think that if she does a great job in this, she will blow up massively!

Shingai: so, will you agree?!

Takarada: did you remove the audition as I directed?!

Yashiro: it was moved to a time where she couldn't attend it anyway … I just informed her about dropping it

Shingai looked at Takarada in anticipation!

Takarada: alright! … I will lend you my precious fairy! … and I expect her to fly up high in the highest skies, so don't disappoint me!

Shingai: you know me, I would never disappoint!

Takarada: alright then!

Yashiro: I'm so excited about this! … this is going to be huge!

Shingai: yes! … I will draft an offer and will be contacting you very soon!

Yashiro: I'll be waiting to hear from you!

(In LME Agency - Love me Room)

Kyoko sat down as she did some paperwork

She hadn't come to the agency recently, so she out of her way to find some small assignment she can do/help with as waited for Yashiro to finish his work and upcoming meeting

She sighed as she stapled pamphlets together, and put them in a bigger stack

She heard a knock on the door, so she said: come in!

Ren opened the door and said: mind if I join?

Surprised, Kyoko said: not at all! … come in!

Ren came in closing the door behind him, then sat down and asked: can I help?!

Shocked, Kyoko exclaimed: why would a god-like actor like you do the work of love me, members? … you shouldn't lower yourself to our level!

Ren shook his head and said: let me be a humble man, and help … I'm not a deity, I'm just a human who likes acting!

Kyoko: but your …

Ren: I'm just a man … a humble man who likes helping!

Kyoko chuckled, then said: well then … if you insist!

Ren started helping Kyoko with pamphlets, as he started bringing up small talk about them, saying: it's almost time for the next audition season?

Kyoko: I heard that it will be held 2 weeks from now

Ren: I see …

Kyoko: I wonder if we will get more members … since it's only me, Moko-san, and Amamiya-san … it impossible we're the only people who need help!

Ren: I'm sure there are plenty of people who might need it … but I'm not sure the president is too focused on adding more members!

Kyoko: that's true …

Ren: do you wish that more people join this section?

Kyoko: I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy … or would I!

Ren laughed hearing that, then said: well, I hope not, for your sake … because I would hate for you to be stuck with them!

Kyoko: you're right! … then I would have something in common, and that would terrible!

(In LME Agency – In one of the hallways)

Maria was walking around … she was feeling bored, and a bit lonely

She felt annoyed that her grandpa was very busy entertaining her, and even Sawara was out of the office as he wasn't feeling well

She saw people talking and overheard one of them mention that Kyoko was doing Love me jobs, helping them around with the next audition preparations, so she got super excited and ran off to the elevator

She clicked on the button of the floor where the love me the room is, and waited patiently to arrive at that floor … the elevator stooped at a floor above the one she wanted, so she grumbled as more people entered the elevator

She overheard the two ladies talk as the elevator closed the door

Lady 1: I saw Tsuraga-san today, … so I feel like my day got 10 times better!

Lady 2: really?!

Lady 1: yes! … perhaps we can bump into him again once we reach the next floor … since he existed there!

Lady 2: did you see where he was going?

Lady 1: well, I believe he was going to see if his manager is with the love me member, who shares Yashiro-san with him

Lady 2: why in the world would someone from that section share a manager with our number 1 star?!

Lady 1: I think the president really likes her for some reason!

Lady 2: wait, is it that short-haired girl?!

Lady 1: yes, Kyoko!

Lady 2: wasn't she the one who caused some trouble recently?

Maria: Hey! … how could you disrespect Onee-san?!

Lady 1 noticed Maria and said: aren't you the granddaughter of the president?

Upset, Maria: that's true alright! … I'm Maria Takarada, and Kyoko is my Onee-san, so don't dare speak about her in a bad way! … I can have you blacklisted because we have a campaign to protect our talents!

Defensive, Lady 2: we weren't saying anything bad!

Maria: you accused her of causing trouble! … its other people who caused her trouble! … she's innocent and she was only the victim in all that mess!

Lady 1: we're sorry, we didn't mean it that way at all! …

Maria: if I ever hear someone talking about my Onee-sama in such a way, I will report you right away! … talking behind her back is not acceptable at all!

Lady 2: we're very sorry … it won't happen again!

Still upset, Maria inquired: and what's wrong with her sharing a manager with Ren-sama?!

Scared, Lady 1: nothing! … it's totally ok!

Lady 2: we just don't understand why doesn't she get her own manager … its nothing malicious

Maria: right! … you expect me to believe that?! … I might be 8, but I know how deceitful adults can be!

Lady 1: ok, sure, we don't understand why she, a talent, shares the manager with the face of this agency! … it's weird!

Maria: No, it's not! … Yashiro is friendly with Onee-san, and he use to help her from time to time, and then when Ren-sama got busy with a project, Yashiro-san offered to be her manager for some time, and she accepted, then my grandfather saw how capable Yashiro-san is and assigned him to her permanently! … nothing wrong there!

Lady 1: but how?!

Maria: how?! … what do you mean?!

Lady 2: how did Yashiro-san get to know her well anyway and become friendly enough?!

Maria: because she filmed "Dark Moon" with Ren-sama, last I checked! … do you really not know?! … do you two really work here?!

Lady 2: in my defense, I'm relatively new here!

Maria: maybe you should gossip less and focus more on your work, then! … what I heard today is unacceptable, and if I hear it again, I won't sit still! … stop fooling around and go to your work!

Lady 1 and Lady 2: understood!

Maria walked out of the elevator leaving those women feeling dumbfounded that they were lectured by an 8-year-old … she skipped around until she reached the Love me room

(In LME Agency – Love me Room)

Ren and Kyoko had just finished stapling the pamphlets when they heard a knock, as they both thought Yashiro was back early

But they were surprised when Maria walked in

They both greeted happily and she greeted them with a happy smile and hugged them both

Ren: how is school?!

Maria: boring!

Kyoko smiled and said: don't you have fun with your friends?

Maria: well, we do have fun … it's just, everyone is busy with their own things, so we don't spend too much together …so I come here in hopes to see you!

Kyoko: I'm glad we can see each other again!

Ren: we missed you, truly!

Maria smiled happily and asked: are you two busy?!

Kyoko: no, we just finished!

Maria: why don't we go out and have some fun then?

Kyoko: I wish we could do that, but we both have work afterward… so we can't really go somewhere … maybe we can have lunch together here?

Ren: what do you want to do, Maria-chan?

Maria: I thought we could do Karaoke again because I enjoyed it last time!

Kyoko: it was really fun!

Ren thought for a minute, then said: we can do something like that here!

Intrigued, Maria asked: what do you mean?!

Ren held up a pamphlet and said: we have an empty stage that won't be used for a while, I'm sure we can ask for the keys and get access, what do you think?!

Maria: I'd love that … what about you Onee-sama?!

Kyoko: I think that would be fun!

Ren: we can sing and have some fun, and no one can judge us! … because we can do it privately!

Maria: no one really goes to the stage when it's not being used for auditions … so no one will interrupt us!

Kyoko smiled and said: let's do it!

Ren: I will go grab the keys … meet you two there?!

Maria: sure! … let's go Onee-sama!

Kyoko: I will deliver these first if you don't mind!

Maria: I can help! …. (she took a portion of the pamphlets and led the way … walking away cheerfully with her favorite Onee-san)

(In LME Agency – Audition Stage)

The three walked into the huge empty room … and looked at the stage

Ren: this room is rarely used!

Maria: because they only hold auditions here! … let's put it to some good use!

Kyoko: I feel weird coming back here!

Ren: because of some negative feelings associated with it? … perhaps we should go somewhere else if it bothers you!

Kyoko: no, I'm fine … its ok!

They all got up on the stage, then Kyoko walked to the spot where she had her phone call and said: that's where I broke the phone … (she chuckled at the horrifying memory when she realized she messed her audition up thanks to her hate for Sho)

Maria: broke the phone?!

Kyoko explained the phone part of the audition, and why she did what she did … she felt a little embarrassed, but she was happy she's past her hate, and now she is working on growing as a person, learning to love herself, and letting go of the hatred that shades her heart

Ren smiled as he stared at her lovingly … he wanted her to heal from her scars and become even stronger than she is now … he was hoping her strength would help him with his own struggles.

He had accepted his past and was starting to live his life as he should, but he knew that he couldn't fully do that without meeting people from his past, and seeing his parents again as himself

Maria noticed Ren's loving stare and smiled … she had never seen Ren this happy and he had never seen him look at someone this way before … it didn't make her upset at all, in fact, she was all for it … she wanted her two favorite people to become a couple, and she was going to help in any way she could

Kyoko: enough talking about the past, … what shall we do now?

Ren: hmmm … perhaps was should allow Maria to choose first

Maria got an idea, and so she smiled and said: perhaps you two can start singing … and I will sit there and watch!

Kyoko: you don't want to sing?!

Maria: I do … but I don't want to go first!

Kyoko: oh, ok! … alright then … what should we sing?

Ren: Maria, are you a fan of Disney?

Maria: not quite … I only watched a few movies from them … why?

Ren: I thought maybe we can sing something from Disney if you'd like

Maria: perhaps we should skip that, and sing some real music!

Kyoko: so, what do you want us to sing?

(In Saena's Apartment)

Saena took a shower, then stood in front of her closet looking at her clothes

She had added some colors to her wardrobe since her last shopping trip with Kyoko, however, she was still nervous to wear them out of a sudden

She contemplated wearing something nice for her date, but was worried that she would be too flashy or forward … she never ever dressed up for her dates with "Misonoi" as she always met him after work, so she never really had to get ready … she only tried to put some make-up on back then

She wanted to be different … she wanted to let loose a little … she wanted to get dressed up for her date with Todoh … she wanted to look nice for him, but … she didn't know how

What was too flashy … what would give the right or wrong idea … was she thinking too much about it? … or is it normal? … she knew that people liked to look their best for their partners, but all the examples she can think off were a little too forward

She sighed as she sat down on the edge of the bed feeling hopeless … she couldn't really ask anyone she knew for advice because it would be too weird … she didn't even know many people in Tokyo anyway, and … not many people know about her dating, so she couldn't really think of anyone

She flinched when she heard her phone make a noise, signaling a text … so she checked It and saw that it was from Todoh, who was informing her that he would be around 10-15 minutes late to pick her up because he was stuck in traffic

Saena texted him "ok, … see you soon, drive safe" … then put her phone down and sighed again

She got up and looked at her clothes again, before reaching for her usual work clothes … thinking that changing suddenly would be too weird … but then her phone started ringing so she put back the outfit and picked up her phone, answering the call

Saena: Yes, Mogami speaking …

Akemi: good evening … this is Nakano … I hope I'm not interrupting your busy schedule

Saena: you aren't … I'm home at the moment

Akemi: sorry for this sudden call, but I just wanted to ask about the court date for Miyasaki-san's trial … well, pre-trial …

Saena tells her the date, then says: I'm thankful you're joining us as a witness

Akemi: it's my pleasure … I hate that you had to go through all that and I couldn't do anything to help … I'm sorry

Saena: no worries, I'm fine

Akemi: alright, I will mark the date down on my calendar … I will be there for sure

Saena: thank you for your support

Akemi: are you sure you are alright?

Saena: yes, why?

Akemi: just asking … it's just, seeing that you've gone through all that now, and in the past, … you need a break, don't you?

Saena: despite hating the current situation, I think it has been helpful in some way to move on and start thinking about the future … Kyoko was right, I needed closure after all … and I feel like I got some sort of closure despite the chaos we're in …

Akemi: yes! … that's great to hear! … and you opened your heart again!

Saena: to some extent …

Akemi: Mogami, I know I'm younger and in no place to say this … but I will say it anyway! … you need to enjoy life, … there is more to life than just work! … you and Todoh-kun are great together!

Hesitant, Saena: thank you …

Akemi: say … why do you sound down … is something bothering you?

Surprised, Saena didn't know what to say … so she stayed quietly

Akemi: you can ask me anything, I would like to be helpful in some capacity if possible … I always admired you as a lawyer, and hoped we can be friends … I feel terrible saying this, but I'm glad I got a case that helped me get close to you, or just got me that chance to talk to you and see how great you are!

Saena: I'm sorry to disappoint, but I was nothing but weak for the most part …

Akemi: I didn't think so! … you gave strong responses and stood up for yourself … you were suffering, so it's normal to be vulnerable at those times … but you stayed true to yourself and that's very inspiring!

Saena: …

Akemi: Mogami-san … I know you prefer to be private about your personal life, but don't hesitate to reach out to me if needed … I would like you to consider me a friend here in Tokyo … I know you lived mostly in Kyoto and it's a little different, but if I can be of any help despite my age, … I would be glad to help!

Saena: well …

Curious, Akemi: can I be of any help right now?

Saena: I'm not sure … I just have a hard time with my own thoughts when it comes to being in a relationship … as you may know, my previous one wasn't good, so I'm not really sure what to do now …

Akemi: I understand that things like that can be hard and confusing … but in which way are you struggling … can you be more specific, if possible?

Saena: well, my current issue is with dressing up … I don't know what to wear when I go out with him … I … I never really dressed up before, even in the past … I always just wore my work clothes, so I'm debating on just wearing that, oppose to wearing something I don't normally wear for work

Akemi: hmm … I don't think wearing work clothes is appropriate if you're going on a date … why would you do that?

Unsure, Saena: what do you mean?

Akemi: why do you wear your work clothes for your dates … is it because you go out after work so you have no time to go home and change?

Embarrassed, Saena admitted: yes …

Akemi: in that case it's fine … but if you have time to dress up on the weekends, then do so, it would be much better … wear something that makes you feel comfortable and happy … it will help a lot!

Saena: but what if it's too forward? … what if I send the wrong message … I suck at those kinds of situations … I don't know the first thing about dating …

Akemi: I'm confused, why would you think you would send the wrong message … if you wear something conservative it won't really give any wrong ideas … you mostly wear black and white, no? … maybe change it up a little with nice calming colors like blue or navy … you can only send different messages when you wear something too revealing or loud and colorful … like orange, or yellow… or boring colors like brown

Saena: I see … so blue is a safe color to wear?

Akemi: yes, … I think blue would be good … it's neutral and easy to match with different shades or colors

Saena: that could work indeed!

Akemi: you said you never really dressed up for a date before?

Saena: yes … perhaps I only changed my make-up a bit back then …

Akemi: I see … you can do that too …

Saena: I don't think that's a good idea …

Akemi: why?

Saena: I don't want to do the same things I did in the past … it will cause me to compare the two relationships, and that might be terrible … isn't it wrong to do that?

Akemi: well, speaking from personal experience, I think it's totally ok to compare … it can't be helped, honestly … it's normal to do that!

Saena: is it?

Akemi: I know it feels wrong, but … it's something we all do … it's more about how you do it and how you voice it!

Saena: what do you mean?

Akemi: well, when you compare your relationship, it important to not make your current partner feel like your previous one was better … or can do something better … if you like something specific, you can figure out a way to include it … you don't have to do every single thing differently … frankly, there isn't much you can do differently … really!

Saena: I see … but I don't have any good memories of my previous experience …

Akemi: I get it … you were hurt in such a terrible way … so I understand if all those feelings turned sour because of the betrayal … however the sad truth is, kissing and intimacy won't be too different … because it's all the same act … sure, different people who have different ways to express their feelings … it can be done in a different order … but I think that feelings matter the most … it's not what you did with this or that … it's how you felt doing it!

Saena: oh?!

Akemi: if you want to make sure you change things up, the best way to do that is to communicate … say, I don't want to do this or that first … I prefer to do things differently

Saena: but, when is it appropriate to talk about an ex with your partner, especially if we both hate that ex …

Akemi: Here's something I heard from a good friend of mine … she said "you can't love someone you don't know, and you can't know someone if you don't understand their past … every experience we have, shapes who we become, and since we as people normally tend to repeat the same patterns in our romantic lives, you need to understand who and how they loved in the past, so you can figure out how you want to love each other, what you want to keep and what you need to change to make this relationship work and last a lifetime"

Saena: so, it's helpful to talk about an ex instead of it being harmful?

Akemi: sure, it can be helpful if done the right way … having an honest conversation is essential to avoid misunderstandings … sure, sometimes your partner might feel insecure or jealous, so getting to know your partner well helps figure out how to open up and discuss the topic … you trust Todoh-san, right?

Saena: yes, I do …

Akemi: and he's aware of the whole situation, even more than I am …

Saena: yes, he was there from the very beginning … he saw me at the lowest point of my life …

Akemi: so, I'm sure he can understand your hesitancy … and where you're coming from!

Saena: but is it safe to talk to him about a man … he hates …?

Akemi: well, I did see how much hostility Todoh-san seemed to emit towards Miya … him … that guy …

Saena chuckled on the phone and said: you don't have to worry about me … you can say his name … it's not the name I've known him as … so it doesn't affect me all that much

Akemi: ok … say, I'm curious, did Todoh-san know about you dating back then?

Saena: he might have had an idea, … since he did notice that I changed my make-up routine at some point … come to think about it … he teased me about it because I was always so secretive about that part of my life … not that there much to hide anyway

Akemi: what?! … he was watching you since then?!

Saena: I suppose so … he did mention that he had feelings for a long time, but he never openly declared them because there were rules against dating a co-worker in our previous firm …

Akemi: I see … but don't you think that shows how patient he is?

Saena: he is indeed patient …

Akemi: which is a good thing … he is aware of your past and your trauma … and he knows your trying to figure things out together, so … the best course of action is, to be honest with him! … he will understand because he cares about you!

Saena: we did agree to be honest with one another, it's just … how do you bring those topics up

Akemi: if you're on that topic, you can just try to ask if you can be honest about something … I'm sure he will listen and understand where you are coming from … but at the same time, it is important for you to consider that he might get upset at some point … and you need to understand where he's coming from and try to talk about it … the matter of the fact we all have baggage … and it's how we reveal it and when is the main question

Saena: so, there is no specific time … like after 3 months of dating you can bring this up?

Akemi: specific times are a legendary myth … because frankly, it all depends on the people in the relationship and the level of comfort they have with one another … you can't say people should sleep together after 3-5 dates, because it's unrealistic … some people do that, even against their well, because they think others would judge them otherwise, and that's unhealthy …

Saena: there is such expectation?!

Akemi: sure … I read that in the ABCs of love … its stupid! … I don't recommend reading it!

Saena: I won't …

Akemi: great … anyhow, I think that different people would give different advice, but for the most part, bringing something up should be important for having an honest conversation … it all depends on the level of comfort you have in discussing those subjects, and it's important to make sure your partner is ready to listen to you and talk to you

Saena: so, it all depends on us, … we shouldn't use people's experiences to decide when to talk about such subject

Akemi: yup! … I'm open to sharing my experience … but I don't know how relevant or helpful it can be?

Saena: so, when did you talk about your previous partner with your husband

Akemi: well, … it was around 4 months in … He had met my ex through a mutual friend and wanted to go out together, … so I freaked out, and I told him about our past … so thankfully we never hung out together! … my ex didn't know why we canceled … so he somehow found out about our plans, and met up with us … and … things got weird

Saena: oh! … that must have been awkward …

Akemi: mind you, I never had a bad relationship … it's just, we had too many disagreements, and decided it was best to be friends or something …

Saena: I see

Akemi: on the other hand, … you went through a traumatic experience … so I understand that it might be difficult to talk about it with him, even if he's aware of the situation

Saena: I wonder if it was like that … I do think I had trauma from the reality of the situation, … but I'm not sure I can say I was traumatized while I was in it …

Akemi: well, if I think about what I know … he probably treated you well, and you felt that you might have something special … but, he ran off with important information entrusted to you, and that must have hurt you and shattered all your feelings and beliefs about how you felt about them

Saena: how did you know that?

Akemi: I just guessed … you are obviously upset with them because of their actions, but I didn't sense any fear coming from you … so he must have treated you well … I mean you wouldn't have trusted him if he abused you from the get-go … and you're a smart lawyer, you would report him if he threatened you for information … he deceived you by acting like a good person while hiding something sinister!

Saena: you're very observant!

Akemi: I'm glad you think so … I try!

Saena: say … what would you do if you were me … what would have you done differently?

Akemi: that's a difficult question … I don't put myself in other people's shoes because I know I won't really understand how they feel … I wouldn't unless I went through that experience myself … I really don't know what I would have done … but I would probably get into another relationship right away …

Confused, Saena: why?!

Akemi: because I would want to feel wanted by someone, … when I broke up with my first Ex, I dated my second ex in a matter of 2 weeks! … not out of love but out of need … I felt really upset about several things that were said, and I wanted to prove them wrong, so I went out with the first guy who asked me out … who is now my second and last ex … before meeting my husband

Saena: may I ask … need for what?

Akemi: love, attention, … and intimacy … come to think of it, things happened really fast with him … I don't really regret it per se… but I'm glad I went through those emotions, because I learned a lot, … and that helped me be better to my now husband … because I figured out what I really needed and wanted … and I found all that in him!

Saena: you don't regret it?

Akemi: I would regret my first relationship over the second … I felt pressured to do things according to their own beliefs, … and I always ended up being disappointed in the end … because that guy only cares about themselves and their needs … ignoring me and my expectations completely … he didn't even bother listening to me … so I have a lot of regrets there … but my second understood me to some degree … he was a good person, we just didn't fit together as a couple … we were similar in many ways … and different in others … and that made us stressed and unhappy

Saena: so how did you figure things out with your now, husband?

Akemi: well … I took some time for myself … I never really recovered from my first heartbreak, so it did cause issues in my second relationship … so after I took some time to look back at what happened, I figured I shouldn't jump into another one … so I took my time … and it took me 6 months to started dating my husband since meeting him … which was a year after my second breakup …

Saena: so, you got to know him as a person, before getting into a relationship?

Akemi: yes … he had asked me out earlier, but I told him that I wasn't ready … he understood, and was patient with me … we took everything slowly once we started dating, … to some extent …

Saena: I see … so you think knowing him personally before dating helped?

Akemi: I don't think, I know! … I'm sure it made all the difference in the world because things felt right! … I just didn't want to rush into another relationship and get hurt again

Saena: so, I should take the fact I know Todoh well as a positive sign

Akemi: sure …but, why are you calling him Todoh?! … aren't you two dating already?

Saena: yes …

Akemi: so why not address him using his first name

Saena: we still haven't talked about that …

Akemi: still?

Saena: Kyoko made a similar comment … but we never really thought about it … it's just normal to address each other as we normally do

Akemi: well … I understand that … but I still find it weird … you might want to bring it up soon!

Saena: I'll see about that …

Akemi: do you have any other concerns I can help with?

Saena: no more as of now … thank you so much for your help!

Akemi: no worries … alright then … I won't take any more time … you should get ready for your date, tonight! … enjoy!

Saena paused, asking herself (did I mention I was going on a date?)

Akemi: don't think too much about it and wear something that makes you feel great, alright

Saena: yes … thank you …

Akemi: alrighty! … goodbye

With that, the call ended

Saena put her phone down, then took another deep breath before picking an outfit … she looked at it nervously but decided to wear it regardless … she wanted to feel and look good and she wasn't planning to let fear stop her

(In LME Agency – Hallway)

Takarada met with his good friend Robert Adams … an American director, and producer who works in Hollywood … He worked for different companies, and has just landed a new job at a company he's been dying to join

Robert: This building is impressive … I see how different the US is compared to Japan

Takarada cunningly declared: this is my empire!

Robert: ok mister! … you must be very proud! … I hear that you have some great actors here!

Takarada: definitely! … wait, where did you hear that?

Robert: Mister D.! he came to some party last year … he said he met some people with a lot of potential … so I'm intrigued!

Takarada: oh, … so what are you saying?

Robert: I'm interested in meeting them and probably taking … will more like borrow some of them, if possible!

Takarada: hmm … if you tell me your plan, I might be able to give you some good names!

Robert: oh … that would be perfect! … it's still in the planning stage, but we have a good idea of the whole picture we want to present!

So, he started telling him all about his planned movie that would start doing their audition April – May of next year … he then asked: so who would you recommend?

Takarada: hmmm … I love the idea, … and I think I have a few good choices for a few characters … but I'm not sure if two of my options would be interesting… will maybe one of them would be hard to convince … but the other would jump at the opportunity if present if only someone specific is acting against them!

Robert: oh! … so, can you give me some names, and I can match them with mine?

Takarada: we can discuss that in my office … want to head over there now?!

Robert: let's finish the tour first … you still didn't show me the mine where you find your diamonds!

Takarada: the audition stage?! … its nothing special … it's the people who come who are!

Robert: I'm sure of it! … you have some new auditions in 2 weeks?

Takarada: yes! Indeed!

Robert: based on what I know about you, the main topic is usual "Love"?

Takarada: you know me well!

Robert: scary! … oh yeah … by the way, I heard that one of your top stars had declined a huge opportunity in the states!

Takarada: well, … that's true, but something bad had happened, and so they decided to stay behind … you can't really control that! … the heart wants what it desires!

Robert: are you saying that they're in love?!

Takarada: maybe … maybe not … you may never know!

Robert: That just sounds like "he is in love, but doesn't have the guts to confess"

Takarada: did someone give you a manual of how to read me?!

Robert: Eltra talks about you all the time!

Takarada: even when he's so busy … wow! … I'm honored!

Robert: you should be praying he's not ruining your reputation! … you're like rivals, no?

Takarada: we're good friends! … I wouldn't worry about it, even if I got reports that he's doing so!

Robert: you can't be so trusting in this industry!

Takarada: I can, when we live in two different worlds, we can do anything!

Robert: alright … cool!

Takarada: well here we are … this is the ….

Robert: what's wrong?!

Puzzled, Takarada: it's already open?! … its usually locked!

Robert: I can hear something behind this door … do you think they are doing the auditions 2 weeks early?!

Confident, Takarada affirmed: they can never do it without me!

(In Saena's apartment)

Saena got dressed for her date … she looked at herself in the mirror breathing out nervously … she then sighed, closed her eyes, and thought I can do this …

She opened her eyes and told herself: I look fine, … this is ok!

She then went to her dresser and processed to tie her hair up like usual, but paused in the middle and thought (why do I do this? … I'm not going to work)

So, she let her hair back down and put on a hair clip on the back, to keep her hair from getting into her face

She looked at herself in the mirror once more before doubting herself again and attempted to redo her hair, but before she could, she heard the doorbell

She took a deep breath and walked out of her room, towards the door … she put her hand on the handle and debated if she should run back in and change completely … or open the door and see what his reaction would be like …

On the other side of the door, Todoh waited around 5 minutes, but the door was yet to be open … he wondered if she didn't hear him, or if she was using the restroom so she couldn't open … he wondered if he should ring again, but before he could … she opened the door

Seeing how Saena was dressed up for their date, … Todoh was delightedly surprised

Saena looked down nervously … waiting for him to berate her or ask her to change … but heard none of that

Todoh instead, smiled happily and said: you look gorgeous tonight!

Still unsure, Saena asked: isn't it too much?

Todoh assured: not at all! … it makes me happy that you dressed up for this date … I should've done so as well!

Saena: you're not upset?

Todoh: Mogami … you look lovely! … I have nothing to be upset about, instead, I'm more excited about our date, tonight

Saena nodded happily … blushing as she felt a little embarrassed

Todoh raised his hand asking for hers … saying: shall we?!

(In LME Agency – Audition stage)

The Trio changed plans … so, each of them sang one song first

Kyoko went first, and sang a Japanese song she liked, … then Ren got to sing one of his favorite songs in Japanese … then Maria got on stage and sang one of the songs she has been practicing lately

Maria then sat down then said: alright … now I want to see some fun duets

Kyoko: what do you want us to sing?!

Maria: hmm … do you know some English?

Kyoko: I would like to think that I have good knowledge when it comes to the English language … since I helped Moko-san with her English conversations!

Ren: your English is great!

Maria: in that case … we will switch languages and start singing in English!

Kyoko: why so suddenly?!

Maria: because I have some great duet ideas for you two! … I have been watching some movies lately because I want to improve my English … so when I to the US to visit my ….

Cheerful, Kyoko asked: you're going to visit your dad?!

Maria looked down shamefully and said: sorry …

Kyoko smiled and said: you don't have to be! … I don't mind it at all! … I love the fact you're doing your best to improve your English skills so you can visit your father!

Maria: you don't mind me talking about my dad?

Kyoko: at all! … I'm open to speaking to you about any topic you like! … don't hold back because of my own issues … because your dad isn't mine, so it won't bother me at all if you mentioned him and happily talked about him … in fact, I want to hear about your advantages in the US, ok?!

Maria: I'm so happy you feel that way! … I was scared I was opening a terrible topic with you, because of everything that has happened!

Kyoko: don't be afraid! … you can always count on us! … right?

Ren: definitely … so … what do you have planned for us?

Maria: well, I sort of liked the high school musicals … my favorite one is the second movie, and it happens to have a few duets … so maybe you can perform one or two songs

Kyoko: high school musical?

Ren: a classic musical movie from Disney!

Maria: you never watched it, Onee-sama?

Kyoko: I don't believe I have

Ren: they have some good songs … they do seem cringy the older you get … but they are nostalgic to some extent

After hearing a few songs…Kyoko and Ren decided to perform "Gotta go my own way" and "Everyday"

After doing a decent job at both of them … they caught Maria smiling Cunningly … as she set up the next song

Kyoko: what are you planning?

Ren: I'm slightly worried!

Maria declared: you can trust me!

She handed them two sheets of paper which surprised them both because they didn't know she had any with her when they came here together

Apparently, she had sneaked out while the two were singing together, not paying any attention to her … and was able to print the lyrics for a few songs she had in mind

Kyoko: Rewrite the stars?

Ren: I heard of it … but never really gave it a listen

Maria smiled and said: no need! … you should just sing it … improvise!

Kyoko looked at Ren with some hesitation

Ren smiled and said: let's give it a try!

Maria started the music and sat down, crossing her legs … as she smiled cunningly

Ren started:

You know I want you

It's not a secret I try to hide

I know you want me

So don't keep sayin' our hands are tied

You claim it's not in the cards

And fate is pullin' you miles away And out of reach from me

But you're here in my heart, So who can stop me if I decide

That you're my destiny?

What if we rewrite the stars?

Say you were made to be mine, nothing could keep us apart

You'd be the one I was meant to find, It's up to you, and it's up to me

No one can say what we get to be

So why don't we rewrite the stars?

Maybe the world could be ours

Tonight

Kyoko started singing:

You think it's easy

You think I don't wanna run to you

But there are mountains

And there are doors that we can't walk through

I know you're wondering why because we're able to be

Just you and me within these walls

But when we go outside, you're gonna wake up and see

That it was hopeless after all

At this point, Takarada and his friend Robert came into the Audition room/stage

They entered from the backdoor, so no one noticed them enter

They both stood as they watch the Duo sing

Kyoko:

No one can rewrite the stars

How can you say you'll be mine?

Everything keeps us apart

And I'm not the one you were meant to find

It's not up to you

It's not up to me

When everyone tells us what we can be

How can we rewrite the stars?

Say that the world can be ours

Tonight

Then Ren and Kyoko started singing the duet partner together:

All I want is to fly with you

All I want is to fall with you

So just give me all of you

Kyoko:

It feels impossible

Ren:

It's not impossible

Kyoko:

Is it impossible?

Ren and Kyoko:

Say that it's possible

How do we rewrite the stars?

Say you were made to be mine?

Nothing can keep us apart

'Cause you are the one I was meant to find

It's up to you

And it's up to me

No one can say what we get to be

And why don't we rewrite the stars?

Changing the world to be ours

Kyoko:

You know I want you

It's not a secret I try to hide

But I can't have you

We're bound to break and my hands are tied

The song ended with Ren and Kyoko facing each other … holding hands … and looking into each other's eyes lovingly

Maria stood up and started clapping enthusiastically … the song fit them well! … she loved how great they did and it made her heart flutter in excitement, hoping her two favorite people will be together soon!

Kyoko: that's such an interesting song!

Ren: great choice, Maria!

Kyoko: indeed! … I really enjoyed singing it!

Ren: you did amazingly!

Kyoko: you did too!

Ren: I tried! … because I'm going to do anything for you!

Maria raised an eyebrow, thinking (is he openly flirting with her?! … or is it because it's only us here?!)

Kyoko smiled and said: you did great at the Karaoke, too … right Maria-chan!

Maria: sure! … but I admit, … he sang better today! … you two can do anything when you're together!

Unsure, Kyoko asked: what do you mean?

Maria: now, let's go to the next song!

Backstage, Lory stood there dumbfounded … he couldn't believe that Ren could sing, or was interested in singing at all …

At the same time … he couldn't believe how amazing Kyoko was at singing … she nailed every note and sang the song beautifully

He stared at her and thought (has she always been this good?! … if she was, why didn't she become an idol, instead of a talent … Sawara told him that she showed no interest in music, which confused him … because she was outstanding there on the stage, just now!)

Robert looked at the speechless Lory, and said: have they fooled you?!

Lory looked at Robert without answering … he was feeling overwhelmed with this discovery

Robert smiled thinking he got his answer … but became super interested in the duo who sang the song wonderfully

Kyoko was slightly surprised that Maria ignored her question, but didn't question further

Ren: so, what is?

Maria: hmm … from my research, … I think "you are the reason" is a good choice

Kyoko: I might have to listen to more music … I don't know any of these songs!

Ren: that would be a great idea!

Maria: Ren-sama … you should recommend some songs to her … anyway … let's get started!

Kyoko: what about the lyrics?!

Maria unfolded two more papers and said: I came prepared, just in case you agreed!

Kyoko laughed cheerfully and said: you're like a magician!

Ren: very sneaky of you!

Maria: you can count on me! … always! … I'm your biggest supporter after all!

Kyoko smiled as she looked and the lyrics

Ren: ready?

Maria put on the song Karaoke version

Kyoko and Ren started singing the song … full of all of their feelings and emotions

Mid-song Kyoko noticed that most of the songs they were singing seemed to center around Romance … but she didn't mind at all

Despite not being ready for a relationship, she was grateful she could express her feelings through a song … singing it with all her might … perfectly synced with the song and the emotions it emits

After finishing the song … Maria stood up and clapped … then joined them on stage

They started singing songs together in both Japanese in English and just enjoyed their time together until Ren's phone rang

Ren answered Yashiro's call and then signaled to Kyoko that they should both head out to their next jobs

Maria was slightly disappointed that her favorite pair had to leave, but she didn't complain … she just thanked them for a fun time and bid them goodbye, … promising to meet them again in the near future

After going back to the "Love me" room … Yashiro questioned them as to where they were, but they just said they hung out with Maria after Kyoko finished her job … although unconvinced, Yashiro accepted their answer and they went out on their way

(At an Art Museum)

Saena and Todoh exited the car … held hands and walked towards the entrance together

Todoh had heard from a client of his that a huge art exhibition was being held this week, so he suggested to Saena that they go see it together … she agreed, and so here there were, standing at the entrance, both unsure of what to expect to see in there

They walked in, and an employee handed them a flyer and told them to enjoy their visit

Most people who were in attendance wore formal clothes, which made Saena and Todoh feel a little uneasy, despite being dressed well

As they walked around … they looked at what people are doing and did the same … stopping at one of the paintings hung on the wall and staring at it aimlessly

Todoh: this looks good …

Saena: nature is always good …

Todoh: true …

Saena: shall we check the next one?

Todoh: sure …

They walked a few steps away and stood in front of an abstract painting

Saena asked: what are we looking at?

Todoh: it looks like someone threw a bunch of paint on this and called it art!

Saena covered her mouth muffling a chuckle

Todoh smiles and said: what do you think?

Saena: I'm afraid I find this completely pointless and a waste of paint … perhaps the previous one seemed like it took more effort than this

Todoh: sure thing … it takes time to actually paint nature … not that I know any better!

They both walked away and went to the next one … the next painting was of a horse wearing a suit

Saena: I fail to understand the meaning of this …

Todoh sighed and said: horses simply don't wear suits …

Saena: the painting is called "strong suit"?

Todoh: sure, horses are known to be strong, but usually, they are mentioned with speed when it comes to cars … but this … is … terrible!

Saena: are you sure that this is a fancy exhibit? … sure, people are dressed formally, but the art is something else …

Todoh: I'm starting to question that myself! … maybe we should see a few more before we decide what to do next

Saena: sure

They walked to the next painting … it was a painting made of different sizes of squares in 5 different colors … blue, red, white, black, and yellow

Todoh: now this is another lame one …

Saena: ….

Todoh: I mean, how much effort would it take to paint a few squares?

Saena: I guess it's about how clean-cut it is … I guess that would require some effort

Todoh: I'm not sure! … they could just use tape to make the edge clean and straight

Saena: true … I saw people doing that online

Todoh sighed and said: even my niece who's 10 can do this …

Saena: it does look easy to do … why would the display something this simple here?

Todoh: I wonder why … perhaps they didn't have enough art, so put anything they could find!

Saena chuckled again and said: perhaps you should lower your voice a little …

Todoh smiled slyly and said: I love living on the edge … I don't mind saying things people are too shy to say …

They walked away and looked at a few nature inspired painting

Todoh: this one is nice!

Saena: yes, … they captured Mount Fuji and Sakura trees flawlessly … I've always liked this tree!

Todoh: really?!

Saena: yes … back in the day, I use to go to the Sakura season viewing with my parents … I enjoyed the picnics we used to have under the Sakura trees in the park … my dad always made sure to be there, so we could go together …

Todoh: that must have been nice!

Saena: yeah … it was …

Todoh: are you ok?

Saena: I'm just remembering why we stopped going there

Todoh: why?

Saena: I think we stopped going when I was 14 or so … that's when my dad started talking about my future, as I was getting into high school … I remember getting really upset when I was told that I didn't have to worry too much about my school grades and that high school would be the last level of education I would take …

Todoh: oh? … so, they wanted you to be married by the time you graduated from High school?

Saena: yes … they did

Todoh: yet, you managed to push that back and convince them to go to law school!

Saena: yes, … although I do think I hurt my relationship with them at that point … we were close but not as close as we were back when we went to our Sakura viewing picnics

Todoh: do you regret it?

Saena: sometimes, … I do think about it more and more nowadays …

Todoh: did something happen to trigger those memories?

Saena: We talked … Kyoko and I talked about them a few times

Todoh: she must be curious about them

Saena: not so much … which is great … I don't need to think about it too much either … I do admit that I haven't really thought about them for the past 22 years or so … since they passed on, I blocked all my memories of them because I needed to get back to my studies at the time, and I couldn't afford to grieve for too long …

Todoh: perhaps you were in shock to lose them all too so soon

Saena: that could be the case … I was truly disappointed when I heard that my dad passed away because he was the one I wanted to prove myself to, the most … I did hesitate to continue my studies after his passing, thinking "What's the point?!, he's gone and he will never see me as a lawyer anyway"

Todoh: what changed your mind?

Saena: my upcoming exam … I knew I was in too deep to give up … and I still had my mother to prove wrong … that I could become a lawyer, and that I didn't need to get married to be a successful woman … I had the passion for law … but I feel like my motivation's wavered slightly due to him passing on …

Todoh: that makes sense … I'm sure they are still supportive of you and hope you all the best

Saena chuckled and said: I'm glad you didn't say they were watching over me because I know they weren't … I don't believe in that … and besides, if they were, then they wouldn't have allowed me to make such stupid and terrible mistakes

Todoh: your way too hard on yourself, you know!

Saena: I can't help it …

Todoh: Mogami, … do you want to have a picnic during the Sakura viewing season?!

Saena: it's summer now

Todoh: I know …I'm aiming for the next one!

Saena: that would be nice …

Todoh: you would be able to pour them some sake, and tell them you became a lawyer and a very successful one at that!

Saena: I never managed to do that

Todoh: we can do that, only if you want to

Saena: sure … perhaps I could refresh those memories of them … and share them with you and Kyoko … they were good parents overall, and I truly miss them sometimes …

Todoh: I'm sure they're proud of your achievements! … because you're the best lawyer in Tokyo hands down!

Saena: thank you Todoh!

Todoh took her hand in his and walked away … after viewing a few more paintings, they stopped at a huge painting … it was a painting of a naked woman in an awkward position in the dark

Saena frowned and said: what kind of pervert paints a woman like this?!

Todoh looked at the title which was "tormented body" … then sighed heavily and said: I'm sure his subject model was tormented in such a position … I'm appalled … people call me a pervert, yet I don't do this type of crap!

Saena: let's move on …

They walked away to find another painting of a naked woman, this time she was a plus-sized woman … and the title was "body positivity"

Saena: how is this positive?! …

Todoh: I mean you can draw people from any size, but they don't have to be this exposed?! … why do people agree to be portrayed in such an indecent way … don't they realize that many people will see them, even if it's just a painting?

Saena: I would never agree to be subjected this way … this is too perverted

The artist of the painting approached them, excited to know their opinion, so she asked: how do you like my art?!

Todoh looked at the young women standing behind them and asked: you painted this?!

Painter: yes, … are you surprised?! … I'm actually self-taught, and I'm proud that my art has finally made it to such an amazing exhibition!

Saena looked at the woman, feeling confused because she assumed a man has painted it

Todoh looked at the painting then at the artist again and said: I'm more disturbed than surprised, I don't even get why someone would paint a nude woman and display it

The painter smiled and asked: do you prefer nude men then? … because I have some if you'd like to see them!

Todoh answered dryly: no thanks … I'm not interested in any painting portraying a nude person

The painter explained: this is art! … you shouldn't look at a painting plainly … it's not just a naked woman, it's a message … to show that all bodies are great no matter the size!

Saena: ….

Todoh: why can't she be dressed?!

The painter: because clothes will hide her real beauty … it will hide her rolls and creases … plus, women's bodies are amazing, so why not show them off?

Feeling uncomfortable with the conversation and the question the painter asked, Saena said: nudity makes us objects of desire!

The painter: why do you think a body is inherently sexual because it's nude?

Confused, Saena asked: so, you think this isn't sexualizing the women at all?

Todoh: you might be right … not all nudity is or should be sexualized, but … that is not how everyone thinks … Mogami is right, you might not be sexualizing the women, but some people who look at this, would … we are people born and raised in conservative households, and have been taught about being modest … so it's only natural that we wouldn't like seeing women, or anyone being presented like this

The painter argued: but we, the Japanese people are completely fine going to public baths where they are fully naked in front of pure strangers … its part of the culture

Saena: that may be true, but not everyone is comfortable going to one … I for one don't go there, but that's just me and my opinion …

Todoh: you asked for our opinion, … and this is all you will get … let's get going

The painter wasn't done, however, so she asked: don't you like looking at each other in the nude when you make love?!

Anxious, Saena looked at the women and defensively said: we did no such thing!

Todoh knew that Saena was still uncomfortable with the idea of bedroom intimacy … in fact, he never touched her skin and body, except for her face and neck …

Saena wasn't traumatized by the intimacy itself … but by the fact she was used for it … despite the fact that the person only needed the information she had … he still got into her bed, and got her pregnant before disappearing completely … intimacy became a touchy subject for her, and she was unsure when or if she was going to be comfortable with the idea of being intimate again

She just hated that people kept assuming that she would do it, that simply, even if they didn't know about her trauma and scars

Todoh: you should assume that people do that just because they are together, or even if they are dating … you don't know us or our backgrounds, so don't speak mindlessly!

Saena looked at Todoh feeling thankful … she thought (would it really be ok for us to speak about this topic … is he really going to be understanding like he is now?)

Todoh: let's get going … we have dinner plans to go to!

Saena nodded

Todoh took her hand gently and walked away with Saena

As they exited the Museum, Todoh sighed and said: I'm sorry … this was such a bad idea!

Saena: no, it's fine … we had some quality time, and we agreed to go to a Sakura viewing, which makes me happy …

Todoh smiled and said: I'm happy to hear that … I guess a place like this isn't our style!

Saena: it sure isn't … perhaps we are too analytical and lack artistic understanding

Todoh: art isn't for everyone after all … we might like some types of art, … but we aren't required to understand it … since art can be considered subjective

Saena: we should go elsewhere next time … but, … I still enjoyed our time together here, so Thank you

Todoh: no problem … I'll think of better ideas for our next date

Saena: it doesn't have to be fancy … we can simply walk in the park together and I'll be satisfied!

Todoh smiled and said: noted!

They walked together and returned to Todoh's car … they both got into the car, and Todoh drove away to their next destination

(In LME Agency – Takarada's office)

Robert watched Lory as he sipped his tea quietly … then said: have you recovered, yet?

Lory took a deep breath and said: I'm unsure if I could recover from this

Robert: over-dramatic as ever!

Lory sulked saying: leave me alone!

Robert: so, you didn't know about their musical talents?

Lory: that girl is like a mystery … I don't think she knows how amazing she is!

Robert: she's a talent here, right?

Lory: yes, she's part of the talent section, although I have considered moving her to the acting section lately given she's giving it to her all

Robert: and the guy?

Lory: he's only been interested in acting since he was young … I never once heard him sing, but that girl gets him to do all sorts of things and not even on purpose

Robert: so, I assume that I saw things right … those two are into each other?!

Lory: sure! … but, they won't share their feelings with each other

Confused, Robert asked: why aren't you helping them?

Lory: because I would like to see how things unfold … plus I don't play cupid for free!

Robert: Sure … I never once saw you get paid for doing that service!

Lory: I won't help unless I'm asked to!

Robert: another case of a sad dog that can't eat the food in front of them?!

Lory: you know me well!

Robert: he must be special to you … or should I rephrase … they must be special!

Lory: definitely!

Robert: what will it take for you to allow me to borrow them?!

Lory: what?!

Robert: I want them to star in my movie! … together! … as the main leads!

Intrigued, Lory asked: is that an offer?

Robert: sure, I need to go through some formalities with the production, and they would need to audition for the role, … but I know they have what it takes to win … they already have my vote, and my vote carries a lot of weight! … so, what do you think?

Lory: was it April when the audition will take place?!

Robert: yes indeed!

Lory: so next year … she would be 18, so it will make sense for her to go to the US safely!

Robert: what do you mean?!

Lory: well … she was dealing with custody matters recently … but since she's turning 18 soon, it won't be a problem

Robert: why would they fight over a 17-year-old?!

Lory: because here in Japan, you're not an adult until your 20

Robert: oh?! … and so, her parents got divorced and are fighting for her … can't they give her the decision since she's old enough?

Lory: no … her parents aren't married, and her paternal side didn't know about her until recently … it's their fault anyway … her mother did give her the choice, and she choose to stay with her mother, but they won't accept it!

Robert: oh, how complicated!

Lory: yes … but the law is clear, her mother gets full custody since that guy wasn't in the picture … and we did secure a legal guardian in the US for her … but I guess she won't be needed that if she travels next year

Robert: good to hear!

Lory: but if you really want them, then you will have to do some serious paperwork to get them the visa … they can't just audition on a vacation!

Robert: Sure … I will handle that when I get back!

Lory: you know, … I want this role to be a secret from her!

Robert: I mean I can do that … I just want her to come to an audition and do her best … she will floor it for sure! … I know it!

Lory: as for Ren, I think he might agree

Robert: he will! … I'm counting on you!

Lory: I'll do my best!

(At a nice Restaurant)

Todoh parked the car … exited it, and ran to the other side to open the door for Saena … he smiled and said: we're here

Saena: isn't this fancy?

Todoh: don't worry too much about it

They both walked in, hand in hand, and were ushered to their private table in a dimly lit room … providing a nice relaxing and romantic atmosphere

Saena picked up the menu and looked at it … noticing the prices were fairly reasonable … despite the fancy decor

The waiter came and introduced themselves, then took their order

The waiter bowed and left, closing the door behind him, giving them some privacy

Todoh: so, did you find anything appealing

Saena: sure … perhaps I would go with steak this time around!

Todoh: perfect choice!

Saena: did you come here before?!

Todoh: yeah … a client invited me here before … so I know what their food is like!

Saena: I see … what about you?

Todoh: I shall order the same … steak is always a great choice!

The water came back with their drink and a basket of bread …he then took their orders … they left to get their orders to the kitchen … he said he would be back once their dinner is ready to serve

Saena looked at Todoh who was staring right back at her … making her feel a little self-conscious … she asked: is something wrong?

Todoh: now … I'm just admiring you … is that ok?

Saena shyly nodded allowing him to continue

Todoh: I'm happy that we're here together, having a nice dinner … despite that weird interaction with that painter

Saena: say …

Todoh: hmm … go ahead

Saena: I've been thinking a little about a few things lately, and … well, that interaction didn't bring any good points, no … it's just … it makes me think or feel like we should have an honest conversation about that topic …

Todoh: I'm open to that … do you want to discuss it here, or when we get back? … or perhaps not today if you're still hesitant

Saena: I don't mind starting it here … it's just, I'm not sure how, to be honest about this topic

Todoh: why are you hesitating?

Saena: well … I don't want to end up saying the wrong thing … I would hate to say something that might hurt or upset you

Todoh: why would you think I would get upset? … I'm happy that you're being honest with me, and I respect that … so I don't mind it if you speak your mind!

Saena: and what if I say something that would upset you … wouldn't it be too late?! … because in the end, I can't take it back … I can't unsay something that might upset or bother you

Todoh: I think about that too … what is right to say and what isn't … how can I say something without it causing a misunderstanding … the matter of fact, it really can't be avoided sometimes, I know that certain subjects are difficult to discuss and that they may cause some sort of misunderstanding between us, so we can only try to be honest, and open about asking questions to avoid falling into that unforgiving subject

Saena: so, you don't mind talking about these difficult subjects, despite the fact we might get upset or hurt hearing something unpleasant?

Todoh: sure, because communication is key … we both had one or more relationships in the past, and we can't really change that … we can only learn from our actions and mistakes, and the way we could do, that is to say, yes, I made a mistake here when I did this … and I want to change … I want to do better … and I personally do … I personally considered myself unaffectionate, when I look back at my past experiences … I won't judge you, because it's not fair to do so … neither of us are perfect and that's ok

Worried, Saena asked: despite you hating that guy …

Todoh: sure, I hate him … but that doesn't mean I shouldn't respect your decision back then … you did things that you might regret now … but it was different back then … you were in a relationship and I accept that … I can't expect you to have zero experience and judge you for doing normal things couples do … that would be hypocritical of me if I do that, because I also had my own experiences and I hope you're ok with that

Saena: I didn't think you would be that understanding … I'm not saying you aren't …

Todoh: I know … I came a long way … I was very critical and judgmental in the past … some of my judgment might not have been fair, and I learned from that … I can start first if you'd like … you can ask any question and I will be as honest as I can be!

Saena: ok … so, when you say you considered yourself unaffectionate, what did you mean? … but you seem to be very affectionate with me …

Todoh: well, for example … I didn't feel interested in being intimate with some of my exes… I was mainly cold and indifferent most of the time … which is one of the main reasons things didn't work out! … I only had three previous relationships, they all ended before I finished law school

Saena: why is that?

Todoh: well, it particularly because I was never really interested in them as people, to begin with … I only dated them because I thought that was expected of me … and because people made some assumptions about me … I wanted to prove them wrong, so I just went out with people who showed interest … little did I know that they were interested because of my name and background, and not because of who I really am

Saena: so, you broke up, because you learned they are more interested in your money?

Todoh: well … one of them, yes …

Saena: what happened with the other two then?

Todoh: well, for the first one, it was the last year of high school when I accepted her "letter" and asked her out … she seemed harmless and too innocent for her own good … when we went out on a date to a small restaurant she picked … my sister saw us, and approached us … I didn't know my sister was working there part-time

Saena: so, I assume your sister had something to do with what happened next?

Todoh: yes, … apparently, she befriended that girl … and that girl had gone to her for advice all the time … in fact, if she wanted something, she would go to my sister, instead of talking to me … and what's worse, she would tell my sister every little thing we did … which also creeped my sister out, because she wasn't really into knowing the details … mind you, we only kissed back then …

Saena: that must have been very uncomfortable

Todoh: yes, … my sister would come to my room and tease me about everything that she's heard and that bothered me even more … so I basically went to her and told her that I didn't like her being my sister's friend, and I didn't appreciate her telling my sister private things … and that if she had any questions she should come to me first

Saena: what's wrong with her … when is it ever ok to tell siblings about private matters

Todoh: never should always be the answer … that girl didn't like being told what to do. And that I was ruining her chances to become on good terms with my family, so she tried to keep doing that, … so I broke up with her … we only dated for 5 months I think …

Saena: so, she assumed befriending your sister was her gateway to joining the family?

Todoh: I think so … for the second relationship, it was oddly cold and unexciting … it was like we were supposed to follow some kind of rule book of some sort … you can't do this or that … you need to wait this many days to do that … date number 3, we should do this and that

Saena: I was told the relationships should never follow a particular order because it should depend on the couple and their level of comfort

Todoh: that's true … but there was no wiggle room for me to express that … she was so adamant about following her own ideas which got tiresome and boring … besides, I was in the first year of law school, … so I was always busy with school, but she could never understand, because she was also in school, but she had a lot of freedom …

Saena: she couldn't understand how demanding law school is, compared to her own major

Todoh: basically … she would demand that I go out on some type of date, and I tell her I can't because of an upcoming exam, so she would guilt me about ruining the order … in the beginning, I did try to listen to her … but then she would back out and blame me for it

Confused, Saena: how?

Todoh: well, when it came to intimacy, she was following that order, and for the "first time," it needed to be on the 10th date according to her the order she was following, so she demanded that we go out on a date to perhaps set things up, and asked her to postpone it since I had an exam the next day, but she wouldn't take no for an answer, so I went … and as things progressed, she stopped me and said she wasn't ready because I ruined her mood …she would say that telling her about my exam is too distracting and that she didn't want me to guilt her over failing it if I didn't study …

Saena: so, she would take things that far, then she would bail on you and blame you for it?

Todoh: yup … it happened more than 3 times … because apparently my exams always happened when she's free … she would also pressure me to leave law school and follow my brothers' footsteps, which was never going to happen … so things got awkward and we fought a lot … in the end, she dumped me!
