Chapter 46: A Musical?
(In a Nice Restaurant)
Todoh: In the end, she dumped me!
Saena: I see …
Todoh: but to be honest, … I felt relieved when it was over because I could finally study in peace and relax on my day off … I wasn't expected to follow that annoying list or whatever that was … my family wasn't surprised, because they saw how unhappy I was … and to be honest, I'm not sure why I even dated her
Saena: well, I think it's great that you weren't too upset about things not working out between you two
Todoh: I don't think it would have ever worked out between us … we weren't compatible in any way … and her disliking my career choice was the biggest problem, … because I was going to become a lawyer whether she liked it or not
Saena: even romantically?
Todoh: yeah … well, I can't say "we" because this is basically my feelings, but I don't think I enjoyed being around her … so, intimacy became one of the reasons we were both unhappy and unsatisfied … I have to be honest and say that it was partly my fault because I wasn't working with her to figure things out, but I really got tired of her demanding behavior and it always killed the mood, so I just withdrew and avoided her at some point, which is why she ended things abruptly
Saena: I never thought you would have such negative experiences
Todoh: my brother told me I sucked, and that I was terrible with women … which led me to my last relationship since …
Saena: was it that bad that you decided to not date afterward?
Todoh: It wasn't that bad, however, that changed at the very end … I think that relationship was the longest, and it only lasted 10 months, I think …
Confused, Saena asked: so why did you stop dating since then?
Todoh: well, perhaps the end left me questioning what I really wanted … it doesn't help that my siblings were basically making fun of me each time, and my parents kept putting pressure on marriage … and … I also didn't meet anyone interesting … until I met you …
Saena blushed a little, but then she asked: so, what happened with your last relationship? … did she also approach you?
Todoh: no … I was the one who approached her … I think I was trying to prove to my family that I'm a man who can handle himself … I heard from a friend that he knew this woman in the business major … she attended one of the law classes that are offered to both law and business students since it was about business laws, … all three of us were attending that class, so he introduced her to me … she was very serious about her education, which was inspiring and different from the first two relationships
Saena: oh … I see!
Todoh: she didn't know about my family or its background, which was another plus … so, after knowing her for about 2 months, I asked her out, and she agreed … things went well in the beginning, as we got along very well … she understood that law school was difficult, so she was ok with the fact we didn't see each other for weeks at a time … which is why I think the relationship was as long as it was …
Saena: I'm surprised to hear that … I don't mean to say I expected you to have a better experience, but I never imagined that you struggled that much …
Todoh: well … I was never one to talk about things like that … was I … we are both similar in the fact we don't really discuss our private lives with others
Saena: so, I'm curious, when did things go wrong
Todoh: she overheard that I came from a good and wealthy background, so she thought that she can overlook some of our issues and jump straight into marriage … she even dropped out of school and expected me to provide for her, given the fact I was going to be a lawyer
Saena: so, you were truly disappointed that she wasn't as serious as she was in the beginning about her education!
Todoh: yes … that's one … she then asked me for my card once and went shopping, which I thought was harmless, because I did give her my card before when she went to get coffee or something like that … but she spent over 1,100,000.00 yen (roughly 11 thousand dollars) … even buying gifts for her friends … which was outrageous! … We had a huge fight about that, and she tried to reason that money shouldn't be a problem because I was rich
Saena: did she become unreasonable because of the money?
Todoh: it was insanity to put it simply … I tried to work things out and took her out on a birthday date, and she stormed out when she found out that it was only the two of us … she expected me to throw her a grand surprise party of sorts … we fought again, so I broke up with her … a month later she visited my family and claimed she was having my child, which no one believed because back then I knew I couldn't have kids …
Saena: but she didn't know that?
Todoh: she did, actually … she just forgot about that … besides, it would have been impossible, because I hadn't been intimate with her for over 3 months since … so if she was actually pregnant, she would have been showing by the time she made that ridiculous claim
Saena: that's terrible! … say, I'm a little curious, … how did you find out you couldn't have … kids …
Todoh: my doctor recommended I do a full examination, given I had some health complaints, but my symptoms didn't point at anything particular … luckily, he didn't find bad, so my symptoms were addressed and treated separately … he did call me and discussed the fact I couldn't reproduce, which didn't really bother me all that much … I had been dating her at that point, and so she asked me how my appointment went, and I told her the news …
Saena: did she react to the news?
Todoh: she wasn't happy at all, because I think that at that time, she had started her "Marry into the Todoh Family" plan
Saena: I see …
Todoh: do you have any more questions I could answer?
Saena: well … perhaps, … I don't know how to ask this, but … how important is intimacy to you?
Todoh: hmm … it has its importance, but it's not high on my list … I'm in no rush, so I'm willing to wait as long as you need … I'm not sure how good I am, because I don't really think I enjoyed any of my previous experiences … but I'm hopeful things will be good between us when the time comes …
Saena: it can't be that bad, can it?
Todoh: I wouldn't know … but to be honest, and sorry if this sounds cliché, but it feels different with you! … I enjoyed every kiss we had, and I do feel comfortable going forward … I never really felt this confident before, I could say that for sure!
Saena blushed as she nodded acknowledging his feelings … she then said: I feel similarly, it feels different with you, and I like that too
Todoh smiled happily, then said: I'm glad we feel the same way
Saena: I'm also curious … do you prefer getting to know each other physically before choosing to go to the next step of the relationship?
Todoh: it's not a requirement at all … I don't mind getting engaged or married first if that's what you comfortable with
Saena: so, you don't mind not knowing what it's like beforehand … I'm not questioning your … well … abilities … but don't you prefer to know if it is good enough … because what if it's not enjoyable or good?
Todoh: we don't have to get it right, or enjoy it from the get-go … we can always improve things through communicating and getting to figure out what we like and what we don't … I want things to be at your own pace, and I'll be happy if it happens either way … because I know your worth fighting for Mogami!
Saena: well, I don't require marriage either … I'm not proud of my past experience, but I don't think I'm that traditional … also, I can't enforce something I didn't follow from the beginning!
At this point, the waiter came back with their food … he served them their dinner, placing a fancy medium-well steak in front of each of them … then wished them an enjoyable meal, before leaving
Todoh started cutting his steak as Saena looked at hers and felt a little awkward thinking about how she was going to eat hers
To Saena's surprise, Todoh replaced her plate with his nicely cut steak and said: It might be difficult to cut through, so take this instead
Blushing, Saena smiled and said: thank you
Todoh: is it cut well, or should I cut it smaller?
Saena: this is perfect … thank you!
Todoh smiled and said: you're welcome!
As they ate in silence for 5 minutes, Todoh spoke again, saying: this is delicious!
Saena: it sure is … thank you for bringing me here
Todoh: I'm glad you're enjoying your time and food!
Saena: say … I have another question
Todoh: go ahead!
Saena: do you want us to remain on a family-name basis?
Todoh: good question … I mean, I would like it if we went on a first-name basis! … it would be great if you are also comfortable with that!
Saena: I don't mind … I just feel like we're used to calling each other by our family names, so it didn't cross our minds to change how we call one another … but at the same time, I'm curious as to if you're comfortable with it, given you said you didn't like your name...
Todoh: good point ... well I do find my name more convenient now that I got older, but given the fact that my brother used it terribly… I would be wary … I don't mind if you keep calling me Todoh … either is fine, honestly
Saena: perhaps we can talk about that later ...
Todoh: sure!
After finishing their dinner … they put their plates aside and resumed talking
Todoh: so, do you want to tell me about your experience? … if you don't then it's totally fine, but just to let you know, I'm ok with whatever you choose … I won't get upset, and I truly appreciate that you want to talk about this!
Saena: well … I don't know what to share … well, I never paid attention to men before, and they
didn't pay attention to me either, because I always tried to present myself as upright and strict with myself … I had one marriage interview that I didn't attend because I wanted to do my law school entrance exam … they were held on the same day, at the same time …
Todoh: because your parents wanted you to get married instead of pursuing a career?
Saena: yes … they did that on purpose … I had nothing against that person, it's just … he was my senior the year before, and we never really talked to each other anyway … so I didn't think twice about missing that interview … I remember his family was upset, and so was mine … but I made it clear that I won't give up my dream
Todoh: so, I assume he and his family weren't big supporters of the idea of allowing you to get an education if you were to marry him?
Saena: they had the same ideas of how women should act, and how I should stay home and become a housewife like our mothers … I was told that smart women are frowned upon because men dislike it when women are higher than them intellectually and career-wise
Todoh: that's terrible! … I actually prefer it if someone is as educated or more … I don't really care what level, as long as you know what you want, and you're not stopping yourself because of someone else … that is one of the things I admire about you!
Saena: I'm glad you feel that way … because it did feel a bit weird back then … when I met that person …
Todoh: you told me you met them at a café back then?
Saena: right … and he initiated a conversation about law studies, and how he was trying to take his bar exam again after failing it … I wasn't sure how to react back then because he was the first man who showed interest in me … and so I thought about it and decided to see how things go
At this point, Todoh wished he had flirted with her before meeting that man … he was too worried about the no dating rule in their previous workplace that he considered flirting a huge red flag that might get him kicked out … so he paid attention to her, but it wasn't enough to make her notice his interest or affection towards her
Saena: he never actually asked me out, and … the more I think about how things went back in … I think that he was using me for both my information and for his own enjoyment … I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it … He listened to me rant about work and how worried I am about things changing … he was observant, … and I hate to say this, but he did show a caring side
Todoh: well … I don't think you would have wanted to stay around him if he was cold and heartless!
Saena: yes … that's true … I know all that was an act to get me to trust him … and although he did try to warn me about his intentions, I overlooked it and … in the end, I hurt everyone, including Kyoko who was innocent in this whole matter
Todoh: it's not your fault for overlooking it, no one can blame you for wanting to trust someone you thought cared about you …
Saena: I still regret it … especially the fact I let him do as he pleased without defining what we were doing … and honestly … the more I get to know you personally, the more I see how blind I was to the truth back then …, particularly to the fact he was using me for his own good …
Todoh: do you mind if I ask you to elaborate?
Saena nodded and said: well … in contrast to our own experience with one another, … I do remember that when I reached for his hair, he would stop, which is why I hesitated and stopped myself, … I think that when he noticed I was … let's just say, participating … he stopped me because he didn't want me to get attached to him or express my feelings …
Todoh raised an eyebrow then blankly said: he did whatever he wanted, yet he didn't allow you to express yourself … how selfish and heartless of him
Saena: I think that I allowed things to happen because it was my first ever experience with intimacy and I was curious … I thought I was in the right place to start exploring that side since I did have a career and I felt secure due to that … I did my best to not pay attention to him when I had to work, and I was always late, and sometimes tired … then the sleeping pills incident happened … followed by his final act …
Todoh: you're not wrong for feeling that way … I mean, you did have a good job and we got along as a team under Katagiri's leadership … you had every right to pursue a romantic relationship in your personal time and curiosity isn't a bad thing at all … it's the bad people who targeted you, from that jerk to our headquarters at the Tokyo office … I'm actually glad I don't work for them anymore!
Saena: although you might have a bigger role if you did?!
Todoh: as I said, I didn't want to be apart from you, so I followed you here … in a non-stalker way, I hope! … besides, I was always angry about the fact they covered it up the way they did and fired you despite the coverup!
Saena: they couldn't have kept me after news spread that I was pregnant, and I was the reason for Katagiri-san's fall
Todoh: frankly, it was none of their business! … but I can't really say much, because I know how the Japanese workplace works
Saena: frankly … I'm really curious about something I never had the guts to ask before
Todoh: sure … what is it?
Saena: why did you come to check on me on that fateful day … I never really grasped what happened until I woke up at the hospital
Todoh: well … I was worried because I saw how you looked as you packed your things … you seemed done with everything … you had no energy to fight, and you were dealing with the huge blow of losing your job because of something you blamed yourself for … I did want to check on you every day but thought that would be unnatural and might make you feel uncomfortable, but when we noticed that you hadn't come back for your last paycheck, we had to make sure you were ok … and I'm glad we did … I really am!
Saena: I never got the chance to thank you back then …
Todoh: because you were upset about it … and I completely understand why … so you don't have to … we did it for both of you … but I also did it for my own sake!
Saena: I'm a little taken aback as to the fact you didn't fall out of love with me because of my actions …
Todoh: simple … because I don't blame you!
Saena: even despite my weakness and giving up …
Todoh: I know that you were in a very dark place, and you were dealing with a lot … so, I wasn't going to judge you for that … I was worried about you, because, again! … you showed great potential and you are one of the most hard-working people in the office, so that's something I valued … having a weakness moment doesn't take away your hard work and the great impression you left on me … as you didn't deliberately drop everything … you were forced out! … and that was very unfair given the fact one of the Tokyo firm's employees conspired against you!
Saena: I never thought I would leave such an impression on anyone … but I'm glad to know that you valued me being part of the team, even back then … I was always worried I was being troublesome and a nuisance
Todoh: I never saw you as troublesome… I'm sure our team felt complete with you joining us because we all worked well together! … but I think we are in a better place now because our current workplace is great!
Saena: I can't disagree with that
Todoh smiled, then asked: do you care for desserts?
Saena: only if we share …
Todoh: deal!
After asking for the dessert menu, they picked something they both liked
They ate it happily as they chatted further about many different things
When they were done, Todoh paid, and they both left after having a great wholesome meal
Saena: thank you for tonight!
Todoh: how about we do some shopping?
Saena: shopping? … for what?
Todoh: you'll see when we get there! … I hope you don't mind?
Saena smiled and said: I don't … I enjoy spending time with you!
Excited, Todoh: we shall get going then!
(Takarada's office)
Takarada sat down at his desk after bidding Robert good-bye
He tapped his finger on the desk a few times, before asking Ruto to bring him a few schedules
Ruto brought what Lory asked and asked: are you going to allow Maria to join this project?
Lory: I'm not sure if she's ready yet! … I know that she wants to follow in her mother's footsteps, but this is different … I'm actually surprised Robert asked for her too!
Ruto: I think Maria-chan would be happy to have such an opportunity, if it all goes as you hope it would
Lory: well, if it does, she would do anything to be a part of this … if I'm reading her correctly!
He then sat back and sighed, saying: but you know, I'm still shaking!
Worried, Ruto: are you alright?!
Lory: I'm fine! … it's just, … Mogami-kun is such a talented young woman, … amazingly talented! … yet I didn't see how great she is!
Ruto: perhaps it was meant to be!
Lory: what do you mean?!
Ruto: perhaps its fate that you found out about it today, on your special tour with Robert-sama … this was meant to be … although I agree that Mogami-sama is a mystery
Lory: tell me about it … I can never understand her! … and today, she and Ren seemed closer than ever, but … I didn't see anything new! … maybe I should start my Cupid plan this time around
Ruto: you said you wouldn't unless she asked!
Lory complained in agony: I know~
He then continued, saying: it's just frustrating with both having feelings, yet neither of them speaking up about it! … I shall give them another year or two … but if nothing changes, then I will play Cupid, and no one can stop me! … you hear me!
Ruto: perhaps you should wait for Mogami-sama to become an adult … perhaps Ren-sama is being careful because of her mother's profession
Lory: you're not wrong … Ren might want to get on her good side because he can't get close enough unless he does!
Ruto: I'm curious as to what you're really planning with this new project
Lory smiled slyly and said: I think this is the perfect project, honestly! … I just need to get that guy on the same page
Ruto: do you think it will be difficult?
Lory: I don't really think it would be that hard … but it will need some convincing because it's not what he's aiming for
Ruto: shall I organize a meeting?
Lory: yes! … thanks, Ruto
Ruto bowed as he walked away to make the appointment
Lory: wait … I also want to ask for something
Ruto: go ahead!
Lory: remember when I told you I wanted to know more about her … I think it's time we do!
Ruto: I will send a message then … I'm sure they will get you something of use to you!
Lory: perfect! … that's the only way we're going to be able to gasp what we have missed so far
Ruto: I agree! … I shall go and make the arrangements!
(At a Shopping Center)
Saena watched Todoh as he held her hand and led her through the toys department
Todoh: here they are!
Saena: puzzles?
Todoh: yes! … we talked about it before, and I thought we had some time to buy one tonight
Saena: they have some interesting choices
Todoh: yup, and they have big ones that seem challenging
Saena: how many pieces are you planning to get?
Todoh: what are you comfortable with?
Saena: 1000-1500 is a good size in my opinion
Todoh: alright, now we shall find a picture we both like to put together
After looking for a few minutes, they ended up with two choices, one Saena favored more, while Todoh choose something a little more challenging
Saena put back the one she liked and said: let's go with this since it's your idea
Todoh picked up the puzzle she put back and said: but this is better … you like it, right?
Saena: I do, but I'm not too picky … I don't mind your choice either
Todoh: hmm … then let's get both!
Saena: why?
Todoh: because, why not … we could have one at your place and one at mine, no?
Saena noted: it's as if you're trying to find another reason for us to go there
Todoh whispered asking slyly: so, do you prefer to have my place be for something more intimate?
Saena: well … we did agree to go there for more than just that … and I really don't mind having one puzzle there … we would have more chances to go there …
Todoh smiled and said: oh! … you like the idea?
Saena then whispered: Plus, your place isn't exclusive to those types of things anymore, …
Todoh's smile widened and said: indeed!
Saena: I just hope we actually do the puzzle …
Todoh gave her a smirk and said: eventually!
Saena: well, I don't mind …
Todoh: all right then … since we are done here we can get going!
Saena: yes …
Todoh paid again, although Saena offered to pay for one of them … however, Todoh insisted he would pay for both
They went back to Saena's apartment
Saena: Thank you for tonight, this time for real!
Todoh: you're welcome, I hope you enjoyed it, and … I really hope I didn't say anything that bothered you
Saena: you didn't … but I hope I didn't either … although I don't think I said much
Todoh: that's quite alright!
Saena smiled and said: tonight, was great, really!
Todoh got close and whispered in a deep voice: and do you mind if I make it better?
Saena blushed as she looked away saying: you don't have to ask!
Todoh smiled and kissed her passionately
Saena kissed him back happily that the night went by flawlessly … and this was a perfect ending for their first official date
(The Next Day)
Kyoko woke up early as usual and started preparing breakfast
Saena joined her shortly and helped with whatever she could … and shortly after that, Todoh joined them
They sat down together and ate breakfast happily
Kyoko noticed that her mother was happier now, and she and Todoh had been getting along very well, which made her happy herself
After Breakfast, they sat down and talked a little, with Kyoko sharing her plans for the day
She had planned to go to school for a few hours, then she had to go and meet the cast for the next series she's filming, then she had some free time for about 1-2 hours, before heading out to the ice rink and meeting her ice-skating coach.
Todoh offered to drive her to school, and she gladly accepted
After playing a little bit with Remi, all three of them head out for the day
(At the hospital)
At lunchtime, Saena was able to squeeze some time for a medical appointment to check her hand
She had done an x-ray a few days earlier, therefore it was the day to know the results
Todoh accompanied her to her appointment, as he was the one who drove her from one place to another. Thankfully things worked out with their schedules, and they never had any conflicting appointments so far.
Saena held Todoh's hand as they waited to be called by the doctor, and once she was called, she looked at him and asked him if he didn't mind joining her, which he happily did
After greeting the doctor, the couple sat down facing the doctor who was pulling her records up and checking her x-rays
The Doctor: so, how are you feeling now?
Saena: I'm feeling fine, it doesn't hurt at all … however, my hand has become really itchy recently
The Doctor: that's very common … That usually occurs due to moisture build-up. When it is hot you would get sweaty, and your skin can become irritated and cause this itchiness
Saena: is there a solution for this?
The Doctor: it's impossible to relieve the itch honestly… you can't really put creams under the cast, nor get the cast wet … and using objects to insert them in your cast can be harmful … however, you can try to stay away from heat whenever possible … but …
Saena: …
The Doctor: from what I'm seeing here, I don't think you need the cast any longer … your hand has been healing well, and you're going in the right direction … I would recommend you wear a splint or a brace for another 2-4 weeks and get it checked one more time … but those options are much better as they allow you to take it off whenever it's bothering you, you can get your hand wet, and you don't need to keep it on, all the time
Relieved, Saena: I can get the cast off?!
Todoh: that's great news!
The Doctor: yes indeed … let's check how your movement is … Have you been going to physical therapy?
Saena: I went to physical therapy, and they gave me exercises to do at home … I have been doing them as recommended, which was doing 10 minutes in the morning and another 10 minutes before bed
The Doctor: that's good … I can see that you can move your arm more freely … no pain at all?
Saena: I don't feel any pain!
The Doctor: excellent! … alright then, I will send you with my assistant nurse to get this cast off and give you the option to choose a splint or a brace … whatever you feel more comfortable with
Saena: thank you so much
The Doctor: no problem … I will see you in 4 weeks then … take care, and if you have any further questions or concerns, give me a call, ok?
Saena: ok … thank you
The Doctor went to call his assistant and got Saena taken care of
The cast was finally off, and Saena choose to go with a splint because it would be easy to put on and take off … she then thanked the people who took care of her and went on her way
Todoh: I'm glad you were able to get it off
Saena: yes! … I feel more comfortable now … thank you for bringing me here
Todoh: you don't need to thank me for that … just ask, and I will take you anywhere you want!
Saena: still … thank you … I really hope I'm not troubling you
Todoh: at all! … I enjoy spending time with you … wherever we are
Saena: are you sure I'm not taking time away from your work
Todoh: if I couldn't come, I would have given you my car keys … I come because I want to, not because I have to … so don't worry
Saena: well, thank you … although I'm unsure I'm comfortable driving a car yet
Todoh: understandable … yet I still trust you're a safe driver and would trust you with my own vehicle …
Saena smiled and nodded, saying: thank you for your trust!
(At the Ice Rink)
Kyoko and Yashiro sat in the waiting room in the back … as the couch had some important calls to answer and couldn't meet them right away
Kyoko had met the cast for her new short film and had a nice time meeting her costars and staff
She informed them that she was willing to do lessons to do her own scene without needing a double-stunt actor … which delighted the director and producer … they have been wanting to save money for emergencies and had a limited budget, so when Kyoko told them that she wanted to do all the scenes herself they felt happy that she was willing to learn something new, and that could save them some money down the line
The filming wouldn't really start until after her trip to Okinawa, so she had plenty of time to learn and train on ice
Her co-star was impressed Kyoko was willing to learn a new sport that she personally loved and did as a young girl, so she wished Kyoko all the best and cheered her on, hoping that Kyoko would love and appreciate the sport.
After nearly 20 minutes of waiting the coach finally emerged from her office and greeted Kyoko and Yashiro … she apologized for the delay and took them out to the rink so they can discuss details further
Coach Endo: so, why do you want to learn ice skating… I heard your request, but I want to assess your own mentality on the matter … this sport is precious to me, and I want you to know that it takes years to perfect … so, what is your opinion and how are you planning to learn here?
Kyoko: I'm interested in learning the basics to skate for the short film I'm participating in … I want to become good enough to skate a short program for the film
Yashiro handed her examples that they researched earlier and told her that they weren't planning for anything special
Coach Endo: I'm impressed you came prepared! … that's great … so, have you skated on ice before?
Kyoko: no, never!
Coach Endo: how old are you again?
Kyoko: 17 years old
Coach Endo: so, your boyfriend never took you on a winter date before?
Kyoko: I've never dated before …
Coach Endo: I see … so you're starting from the very beginning … well, do you have good balance?
Kyoko: I would like to think so, … I trained really hard on sword performance for my Kunoichi role
Coach Endo: a female ninja … that might be helpful in your agility and flexibility … ok, let's get started!
Kyoko: YES!
Yashiro: can we rent some skates, please?
Coach Endo: sure … follow me
Kyoko got a pair of skates and put them on … then said: they fit well
Coach Endo: make sure you don't have too much wiggle room, it could affect your skating
Kyoko: do they need to be tight?
Yashiro: not too tight … but just enough to not destabilize you
Coach Endo put on her skates as well and went onto the ice, then asked Kyoko to join her
Surprisingly, Kyoko found it easy to walk on the skates given she had great balance
Yashiro: good luck, Kyoko-chan!
Coach Endo taught Kyoko how to skate slowly, and how to stop … she taught her how to speed up and slow down
Kyoko was able to follow all the instructions and was able to balance well on ice … she learned the basics of skating on ice
She was excited, so she was open to learning and focused on everything she needed to learn … she knew it wasn't going to be easy and that it will take long weeks to get the hang of it … but she was willing to put in all the time to get it right
Yashiro watched her with a smile and nodded … thinking (she's also a monster!)
After an hour … the first lesson ended, so they both got off the ice
Coach Endo: I'm truly impressed by you! … you did well for your first time on ice, so I'm expecting you to put the same effort going forward!
Excited, Kyoko: I will!
She proceeded to take off her skating boots and went to hand them back
Yashiro: do you think she has the potential to learn what is required by next month?
Coach Endo: I see lots of potential in her … however that will all depend on how much time she is willing to put in the training, and her ability to follow through
Yashiro: she is willing to put in at least 10 hours a week until she heads off to Okinawa for her other project
Coach Endo: she's a busy young lady … 10 hours is good … more would be better, but I understand that she has work and school, and wouldn't be able to put in more
Yashiro: I know this is hard to ask, but … is it ok to avoid injuries as well?!
Coach Endo: you know that's impossible … she's a beginner, and she ought to fall 100 times before she can land any jump … she has ways to go … if she follows my instructions well and avoids falling down badly, she can limit the number of injuries she might sustain, but zero injuries are frankly impossible!
Yashiro: I understand that … I should've asked to limit the types of injuries if possible … she has signed a modeling contract recently, and she is expected to not have visible injuries when she's asked to come in
Coach Endo: can't she use makeup to cover those up?
Yashiro: it's possible, sure … however, you know that appearance matters a lot, you modeled before, no?
Coach Endo: I did … and I hated it! … but I understand that it's her job and I will respect that she has other obligations … I will do my best to minimize the injuries by doing my best to train her … it will be hard, but she's a fast learner, which might help a lot
Yashiro: thank you so much!
Coach Endo: no problem!
Kyoko came back, she thanked the coach and they sat together and scheduled her next few lessons, then they bid each other goodbye and left
(The Next Day)
(Kyoto – local market)
Midori came into the shop, took a basket, and started walking around the aisles … she picked up everything she needed … she looked at the meals available in the shop and wondered if her son, Todoh Susumu was eating properly … she sighed and decided to give him a call once she got home
She walked toward the cashier when a woman in a Kimono appeared
The cashier greeted her: Fuwa-san?! … it's been a while! … how have you been?!
Yayoi: Takako-chan! … it's been a while indeed! … I'm doing well, how about you?!
Takako: I'm doing well! … I never expected to see you here this early! … not busy?
Yayoi: yes … we don't have any guests until nighttime … so I thought I would come out and do some shopping … how is business?
Takako: that's good, you finally get to come out and get some fresh air … business is doing fine … my daughter might join to help around after high school
Yayoi: is she not aiming for university?
Takako: oh no! … she's not doing well in school, because she's frankly too lazy! … she had decided to take a year off to study for the entrance exam … although I doubt she'd study!
Yayoi: have some faith in her … she probably wants to fool around because that's what young people do these days … she's no different than my own son!
Takako: isn't he doing well with his musical career?!
Yayoi: perhaps he is … it's just … he messed up big time, and I'm having a hard time keeping an eye on him with him being on the other side of the country … his manager is no good either! … I can't get into the details, but it's a mess!
Takako: isn't your brother over there too?
Yayoi: he is … but I'm not going to ask him to babysit my son for me … he's busy with work, and he recently learned he's expecting
Takako: oh! … How Exciting!
Yayoi: I'm happy for him, and excited to meet the new member of the Katagiri family!
Midori was surprised to hear that name … she knew about Katagiri being Satoshi's friend and Susumu's boss … but she didn't know he had a sister who lived in Kyoto
Takako: is he planning to come back here, or are you going to visit Tokyo again?
Yayoi: it's way too early for now … we will see what we will do when the baby is due to come! … I'm actually looking for new employees to fill in some important roles, as my husband is thinking we should slow down going forward … the business is doomed without our only heir, but we will figure things out eventually
Takako: what about Kyoko-chan, why not give her a bigger role? … you trained her to take your place soon, no?
Hearing Kyoko's name, Midori shifted her attention to the two women and listened to the conversation carefully
Yayoi: that's no longer possible, … Kyoko-chan has moved to Tokyo 2 years ago!
Takako: oh! … so, your son ran off to Tokyo and took away your successor too?!
Yayoi: well, … it's not like that … Kyoko was never really my official successor … she would have been if Sho had married her … but it's all over now
Takako: no way! … your son loves her … how the hell did things end?! … did they break up in Tokyo?!
Yayoi shook her head saying: they never dated before … they were just friends!
In disbelief, Takako: are you blind!? … I saw how your son looked and stared at her … he adored her!
Yayoi: well, that idiot let go of her and ruined not only his chances with her but their friendship altogether!
Takako: is he surrounded by women in Tokyo that he lost track of his beloved?!
Yayoi: why are you so adamant that he's in love with her?! … even though I'm his mother, I've never seen him that attached to her!
Takako: My daughter was rejected by him because he's in love with his one and only childhood friend … that's what he told her when he turned her down
Shocked, Yayoi asked: are you serious?!
Takako: yes! … she came home crying and cursing out Kyoko-chan for keeping him all to herself … I didn't think it was right for her to talk bad about Kyoko-can, but I couldn't help but calm her down
Yayoi: well, I'm not sure your daughter has a chance now … but Kyoko is no longer in contact with him … and although it saddens me, I completely understand where she's coming from … I really should've raised my son instead of spoiling him … he turned out to be a jerk!
Takako: what did he do?!
Yayoi: I can't tell you the details, but to put it simply, he backstabbed her, and destroyed their friendship … he was a total jerk, and although I do think that fame got to him, I still think that I didn't raise him well … if I paid more attention to him, he wouldn't have turned out this way!
Takako: but Kyoko-chan is the most respectful girl I've met … how do you raise two kids and they end up turning out differently
Yayoi: well, technically, I didn't really raise Kyoko-chan … I took care of her, and with time she became more interested in helping around … I do think that she didn't want to be seen as a burden … she liked Sho and wanted to be around him, and so she did everything to make him happy … yet he turned around and pushed her away when he no longer thought he needed her help
Takako: so, what is she doing in Tokyo?
Yayoi: she's with her mother now … where she belongs!
Takako: her mother? … wasn't her mother a lawyer?
Yayoi: yes, she is!
Takako: wait, I'm a little confused, why did her mother leave her with you then?
Yayoi: My brother asked her to work for him after moving to Tokyo, and suggested I take Kyoko-chan because her mother was … let's just say she was struggling a lot with raising that child on her own
Takako: so, her mother isn't struggling anymore, so Kyoko moved back in with her?
Yayoi: well, I can't tell you the details, but … it's something along those lines … she's still struggling to some extent, but together with Kyoko-chan, they make a great family
Takako: what about that father?
Yayoi frowned and unsympathetically said: don't even mention them … I hope he and his whole family would go to hell!
Takako: I never imagined hearing that from you! … what did they do?!
Yayoi: I can't really tell you … but just know, they are the worst people ever!
Takako: to think Kyoko-chan has a terrible man as a father?!
Yayoi: he's not her father and will never be! … I'm just thankful she didn't inherit any of his bad genes … Kyoko-chan is an exceptional girl, and she deserves all the best!
Takako: you must be upset that you can't have her as your daughter-in-law!
Yayoi: I'm not too upset … I might have expected her to take my role if she was to marry Sho … but at this point …my stupid son doesn't even deserve a wonderful girl like her! … besides she has her own plans and dream and is pursuing them full-time! … I truly wish her all the best and will support her from here!
Takako: I can't believe your son messed up this badly!
Yayoi: tell me about it! … he even tried to fix things but ended up making things even worse!
Takako: how is that even possible?!
Yayoi sighed heavily and said: I don't even want to talk about it anymore … I'm just hoping this is a turning point for him to mature once and for all!
Takako: good luck with him … boys are indeed hard to control! … I'm so worried about my son, and he's only 12 … I'm so terrified of him turning into a wild teenager!
Yayoi: that was about that time when Sho started misbehaving
The door suddenly slammed open, and a 17-year-old girl called Yumiko came … she joined her mother behind the cashier and said: can't you give me some money?
Takako: what for?!
Yumiko: dad said he won't give me anything unless I work for it! … when did I lose my allowance privileges?
Takako: when you wasted all that money on some make-up and an overpriced bag!
Yumiko: so, I'm being punished for spending my money?!
Takako: it's not your money, … your father and I work long hours to provide for you and your brother, yet you spend your whole savings on a bag, that you can get for much less and it will do the same job!
Yumiko: but I can't look like a poor girl who can't afford anything! … people will laugh at me!
Takako: you don't need to spend money to impress others … that's flawed logic! … where did I go wrong with you?!
Yumiko: when you didn't allow me to follow Sho-kun to Tokyo! … you know I could have made it big by now!
Takako: not that again?! … you tried to audition here, and you weren't even chosen!
Yumiko: that's because this is old-fashioned Kyoto! … I need to be in Tokyo!
Takako: what's the difference?!
Yumiko: the difference is that a nobody like Kyoko made it in Tokyo, yet I, one of the most beautiful girls in Kyoto didn't ... if she can make it there, then so can I?!
Takako: Kyoko? … is she in showbiz?!
Yumiko: are you living under a rock?! … goodness mother! … your so out of touch with reality!
Takako: excuse me, but I don't waste my precious time on gossip!
Yumiko: whatever! … my point is! … I need money for a train ticket, so I can audition in the upcoming audition season in Tokyo!
Takako: how many hours have you helped in the store this month?!
Yumiko: Mom! … I don't have time for that!
Takako: if you didn't put in the work, you won't be going anywhere!
Yumiko: if I miss these auditions, it will be your fault!
Takako: let me ask you this! … have you prepared anything for the audition?
Yumiko: do I need to?!
Takako: what are you going to do then?
Yumiko: they will see how beautiful I am and hire me! … simple!
Takako: you miss the whole point … Sho-kun made it because he has musical talent and he worked hard on himself… Kyoko ….
Yumiko interrupted: Kyoko is a nobody! … if she made it, why can't I?!
Takako: you know what she did for her audition?!
Yumiko: no … I don't even talk to her … nobody does! … she was the outcast of our school! … we all bullied her because Sho treated her differently!
Upset, Takako: Yumiko?!
Yumiko: what?! … if you're not going to give me money, then whatever! … I will find another way!
She then turned away and slammed the door behind her
Takako: I'm so sorry!
Yayoi: no need to apologize … kids these days are too entitled sometimes … Sho's no different!
Takako: I can't believe she bullied Kyoko-chan! … that girl use to help me whenever she could
Yayoi: Kyoko-chan is different indeed … I just didn't know she was bullied at all!
Takako: really?!
Yayoi: yes … she never showed any signs, and always wore a smile on her beautiful face!
Takako: but is it true, is she in showbiz?
Yayoi: yes, … she's planning to become an actress … she did some roles, and I watched them! … she's so amazing, that sometimes I question if it's really her!
Takako: an actress?! … that is impressive! … although she won't really need all the training you gave her for that!
Yayoi: not necessarily … she might get a role in the future that might require her to do tea ceremony in the future, so if anything, that I taught came in handy, I would be glad I helped
Takako: you're right! … but going back to the bullying… she never told you anything?
Yayoi: not at all … she never came home upset about anything other than her grades … which were pretty good compared to Sho who slacked all the time …
Takako: are you saying she was good at acting all this time, that no one knew she was suffering at school?!
Yayoi: you may be right … she always acted like everything she was fine … she must have been good at it! … I feel terrible though … she doesn't deserve to suffer! … why are people always trying to hurt them!
Takako: them?
Yayoi: She and her mother … they have been through a lot! … I seriously worry about them these days, although the worst might have passed … I'm hoping that nothing else comes up!
At this point Takako noticed Midori standing and said: I'm so sorry … let me help you!
Midori: that's alright … don't worry about me … I was just trying to remember if I needed anything else
Takako: aren't you Todoh-san's wife … the former police chief?
Midori: that's true …
Takako: I heard your husband retired after collapsing from overwork!
Yayoi: when did that happen?
Midori: you must not remember … it's been 10 years since, I believe the girl you mentioned, called Kyoko was the one that saw him and called for help!
Takako: Kyoko-chan did?!
Yayoi: oh my! … that's true! … now I remember!
Midori: we never managed to thank her though …
Takako: why?
Yayoi: well, her mother had moved to Tokyo the year before, and hadn't come back since … so we never got a chance to call and introduce you
Midori: that's alright … I understand! … it's been a long time anyway, and I doubt she'd remember him
Takako: that's true … kids don't often remember these things unless it has a huge effect on them
Yayoi: anyhow … I should get going now … I'm grateful I got to catch up with you after so long
Takako: I'm here always … come and chat whenever you can!
Yayoi: alright … take care … and it's great to see you again Todoh-san … I will try to make a mental note to speak to Mogami-san about that matter when she comes to visit in the future
Midori: I would appreciate that, … but it's ok if it doesn't happen … we're grateful for the help and we will never forget it!
(Tokyo)
(Katagiri's office)
Saena and Todoh entered Katagiri's office after being called there by their boss
Katagiri: the pretrial will be on Monday, on the week following the next one
Saena: wasn't it supposed to be on Thursday?
Katagiri: well, one of the important cases was pushed back to Thursday, so I was able to change the date, because of the opening … is that ok?
Saena: that's fine, … the sooner we are done, the better
Todoh: we have everything we need already, so we just have to be ready to present our evidence to the court
Katagiri: Good, on the other hand, I was contacted by Miyasaki Yasushi-san, and he told me that he will make his wife go on national TV to debunk all her claims
Saena: and she agreed?
Todoh: he's forcing her, isn't he?
Katagiri: yes indeed … he apologized about her apology not being sincere enough, but he said that it's the least she could do to undo the damages she caused
Saena: I was planning to get the court to force her to do that, but, if it can be done even sooner, that would be better … as long as they tell the truth and only the truth
Todoh: is there a way to get them to share their statement before going live with it?
Katagiri: He assured me that he wanted to run it through us first … he also needs help getting someone to put them on TV
Saena: how can we help him?
Todoh: perhaps that campaign that was started earlier this month made it difficult to go to anyone to broadcast something
Katagiri: yes indeed … so I asked the president of your daughter's agency, and he agreed to help
Saena: we should thank him somehow!
Katagiri: no need to worry about it … anyway, I will forward their statement to you two as soon as I get it, so we can have it broadcasted as soon as possible … you're going to get your reputation back, Mogami!
Saena: if I can get some of it back, that's all I would ask for
Todoh: you will get most of it … if not all! … I know a lot of damage has been done, but you deserve respect, and although I don't trust that woman, I'm hoping her husband will force things to go through smoothly
Katagiri: he's shown to be trustworthy so far, but we'll keep an eye on the matter either way … nothing wrong with being extra careful since we will never be able to trust that old lady!
Saena: Thank you so much for your help!
Katagiri: no problem! … you know me! … I will support you because I know your worth fighting for!
(At LME – Love Me Room)
Kyoko sat down as she researched Figure skating on the Laptop Yashiro lent her
She watched a few videos of famous figuring skaters doing their tricks … jumping, spinning, then landing flawlessly … some made mistakes, but they recovered right away
She then started looking for music that she would like to dance to … she figured it should be a song she won't be sick from listening to it repeatedly
However, her research was cut abruptly when Kanae called her
Kyoko answered her phone in record time, saying: Hello, Moko-san?!
Kanae: hey …
Kyoko checked the time, then asked in concern: isn't it 1:30 am your time?!
Kanae: yeah … I just couldn't fall asleep
Kyoko: is everything ok?
Kanae: yes … everything is going well … perhaps I had too much coffee earlier
Kyoko: you don't usually drink coffee
Kanae: well, … I had to be up by 5am and we finished filming at nearly 11:30 pm … I needed coffee to keep me going … besides, I only had three scenes to film, yet I was required to stay on set the whole time
Kyoko: that's tough!
Kanae: yeah … anyhow … how are things where you are?!
Kyoko: I'm doing well … We have filming tomorrow for the movie since the director forgot about shooting the Tennis scenes … he managed to fix his mistake, luckily … I was a bit confused that we did some tennis training but never did anything in filming
Kanae: how did he forget something like that?
Kyoko: the Okinawa trip is taking up a lot of his time, with the planning and all
Kanae: well, that's a bit understandable … I'm glad he remembered … is the filming there going to be the last for this film?
Kyoko: no, we still got the adult bits we need to film … we still don't have the script for that yet, but I was told that things are changing yet again … it seems the script writer is getting really excited while changing up things to fit the picture he imagined
Kanae: as long filming goes well, that's all that matters
Kyoko: yes … and although I had some ice-skating training today, it was canceled because the coach had an emergency to take care off
Kanae: you're really doing training for that?
Kyoko: Yes!
Kanae: doesn't it take years to perfect it?
Kyoko: we are just doing the basics … my character isn't the star, so I don't need to do something over the top … but I plan to do everything myself!
Kanae: that guy is sure rubbing off on you!
Kyoko: what do you mean?
Kanae: I didn't mean it in a bad way … it's great you're willing to do everything yourself, but you know … it will be very risky! … falling on ice isn't that simple, you could get seriously hurt, and that might affect your other jobs!
Kyoko: I'm aware … that's why we're being as careful as possible
Kanae: do you have anything later today?
Kyoko: yes, I have the music video filming … I'm going to be like Natsu again … I even got Princess Rosa with me today!
Kanae: ah yes, that special neckless of yours
Kyoko: well, Rina-san wanted to see it … she said she wanted to get something like it because she loved how it looks!
Kanae: well, make sure you check you have it with you before leaving!
Kyoko: why would you assume she would take it?
Kanae: because I don't trust people … if she is desperate enough, she might take it … so just be careful!
Kyoko: I will!
Kanae: that reminds me … I wanted to ask you something
Kyoko: go ahead
Kanae: I hear you disappeared for two weeks … according to Momose-san and Chiori-san
Kyoko: ah yes … I had to finish my mission
Kanae: that valentine's one?
Kyoko: yes …
Kanae: and so, since it's done, … can you finally tell me what were you asked to do?
Nervous, Kyoko: well … can you not speak about that?
Kanae: why? … were you asked to do something bad?
Kyoko: no … everything went well!
Kanae: so, you're not planning on telling me?!
Kyoko: it's not that I don't want to … I just … well, I know it's no longer a secret, but …
Adamant to know, Kanae suggested: let me guess then!
Kyoko: guess what?
Kanae: you were Setsu?! … the sister of Cain Heel from the Tragic Marker film?!
Kyoko froze in shock … she never expected her friend to know exactly what she was doing
Kanae: answer me!
Kyoko: well …
Kanae: so that's a yes, no?! … because it all adds up you know … the moment you as Kyoko disappeared, that girl appeared the very next day … and 2 weeks later, she disappeared, and you came back … moreover, it was with that dude, so if Setsu was any other women, you would be upset, wouldn't you
Kyoko: I wouldn't … because in the end, it's working!
Kanae: right! … you expect me to believe you're going to be ok with a woman acting lovey-dovey with him, without being part of the film itself!
Flustered Kyoko asked: how do you know?!
Kanae: I talk to Chiori and Momose-san from time to time, too … they told me about meeting the female lead, … and she told them all about the siblings … then we spoke again when we heard that Tsuraga was Cain Heel … so now, will you confirm it?!
Kyoko: if you don't tell anyone …
Kanae: You know I will always keep our secrets between us, … but why does this have to stay a secret?
Kyoko: you know that women would rip me apart if they heard we stayed in the same hotel room …
Kanae: wait what?!
Kyoko: …
Kanae: you're telling me that you and Tsuraga-san were in the same hotel room for two weeks?
Kyoko: well, yes … and for a little over a month too, when the film was being filmed
Kanae: so, your sudden trip … to … wait, what was that place called … hmm … Guam?!
Kyoko: yes …
Kanae: and you stayed in the same room there too?!
Kyoko: only for 2 days …
Kanae: and what happened in there?!
Kyoko: nothing worth mentioning!
Kanae: so, you're saying nothing happened between you two while living in the same room at all?!
Nervous, Kyoko explained: We're not dating, so nothing would happen
Unconvinced, Kanae asked: even with him being your lovey-dovey brother?!
Kyoko: ….
Kanae: something tells me that you're not being honest with me!
Kyoko: I can't talk about it here …
Kanae: where are you?
Kyoko: in the "Love Me" room
Kanae: alright … we must speak somewhere safer then … how about you go to our usual secret conversation spot … when you're free
Kyoko: we must plan it … since the time difference does hinder
Kanae: you don't have anything after the Tennis shooting?
Kyoko: no, I don't think so
Kanae: alright, we can talk in more detail tomorrow!
Kyoko: that soon!?
Kanae: what's wrong with that!? … I'm dying to know how you managed to live together without doing anything "worth mentioning" as you claim!
Kyoko grumbled: you're mean!
Kanae: I should sleep … let's talk tomorrow!
Kyoko: I will try … good night Moko-san!
Kanae: Good night … and you! … be careful!
Kyoko: I will! … thank you!
(In Todoh's Apartment)
After work, the couple decided to go to Todoh's apartment
Once in the apartment, Todoh closed the door and locked it … then proceeded to kiss Saena eagerly
Saena didn't mind at all … since talking to him honestly, she felt more open to intimacy
Although they did end up agreeing to push back the bedroom type for later on in the relationship, kissing and making out was something they were both eager to do whenever possible
They both had made sure they finished their work and paid attention to what is more important, before going on to do the things they craved to do together
At some point they stopped to catch their breath and relax a little … they ordered food then sat and ate
Todoh's phone started ringing while they were eating, so he looked at the screen and sighed
Saena: what's wrong?
Todoh: it's just my mother …
Saena: you can answer her … I will stay quiet if you need me to be
Todoh: no, it's fine … she's probably going to beg me to come home to visit, and I'm not going to get into an argument about that … I will call her after I drop you off at your place
Saena: are you not planning to visit them?
Todoh: Well, I told Satoshi that I won't be visiting until next year, so she's probably calling about that …
Saena: you don't have to do that …
Todoh: I know, but … I always keep my word … if I visit this year, he will hold it against me … and I'm not going to let him have his way … I know it's all fun and games, but … I just don't like to lose when it comes to that!
Saena: I see!
Todoh: do you find me being unreasonable?
Saena: not really … I saw how he teased you and how much it bothered you, so I understand
Todoh: what you saw is nothing compared to what they usually did in the past
Saena: was it even worse than using that awful nickname?
Todoh: just as awful!
Perplexed, Saena asked: why do they do that?
Todoh: well because it's fun for them I assume … I'm the youngest, so they always acted like they knew better … and used their age as an advantage against me
Concerned, Saena asked: were you not wanted?
Todoh laughed and said: maybe … my sister hates the fact I'm not her sister … and my brother always wanted to be the only heir of the family … again, I know they don't hate me, but I just dislike that they would find any way to bother me … they know exactly what to do or say, and they usually use my parents' concerns for their own benefit!
Saena: the fact you are unmarried, I assume
Todoh: yes … along with the fact I live in Tokyo and work as a lawyer … the fact I can't have kids also came up a few times … but mainly because I've been single for a long time
Saena: I understand that your brother wanted you to be a police officer like him?
Todoh: he's a hypocrite … he doesn't want me to be one because he knows I will outshine him … yet he acts like I should be one because our family always worked in the line of law … I mean, I'm a lawyer! … law is a huge part of my job, yet they think that it's too different from their own love for the law!
Saena: you never told me why you choose to be a lawyer instead of a police officer
Todoh: frankly, I wanted something I can define myself as … with most of the men in the family being police officers at some point, I didn't want to be just another one of them … I wanted to be unique and different and do something I can call my own … My parents, and especially my mother didn't mind, because she didn't want to have to worry about me coming home every night … like with my father and brother
Saena: given the job can be somewhat dangerous when dealing with criminals that might retaliate
Todoh: yes … indeed … and although I think it would be fun catching those people and putting them behind bars, I prefer the logical work … yes, there is a lot of paperwork for police to do, but it just reporting what happened … and that's boring … I prefer studying the law and using it to my advantage
Saena: when did you decide to become a lawyer
Todoh: when I was still in high school, I went with my father and brother to see what they did, … as some point we meet the prosecutor in one of the cases they were dealing with, and I found his work admirable!
Saena: but you work with business law instead of criminal law
Todoh: well, I was working under a prosecutor for two years before joining Katagiri's team … and frankly I hated it … I was assigned to a pedophile case at some point… and I had to look at all the evidence including all the picture he has of his victims … it was sickening, to say the least … I still wanted to be a lawyer, so I switched to business
Saena: that must have been awful!
Todoh: it was … some people are just monsters … and although putting them in jail is great, it's not a job I'm meant to do, although it's what got me into wanting to become a lawyer from the beginning
Saena: so, do you enjoy your job now?
Todoh: yes … and especially since I can be next to you
Saena smiled and nodded … then said: I'm happy with my job as well … and I like that we're working together too
Todoh looked at his phone as it rang again … it was his mother again
Saena: maybe she needs something?
Todoh: no … I will call her later … let's finish our meal and I will take you home … we can do the puzzle next time
Saena: alright
(At Takarada's office)
Lory: did he arrive?
Ruto: yes sir
Lory: let him in … and please make us some tea
Ruto: Understood
Lory stood and marched away from his desk, walking to his seat on the couch
Ren: you asked to see me?
Lory: yes … I know you are free for an hour, so don't go telling me you have work to do!
Ren sat down and asked: is this about the campaign?
Lory: no … it's more about the future going forward
Ren: I've got a few offers that I'm looking over for the time being
Lory nodded as he took out a Cigar and lit it … he stayed silent for a few minutes as he inhaled, then puffed out the smoke … then asked: when were you going to tell me about your musical talents?
Dumbfounded, Ren asked: what are you talking about?
Lory: you never expressed interest in music before!
Ren: I never did, and never will … Music isn't my passion, and you're aware of that!
Lory: I have reasons to question that!
Unsure and uncomfortable, Ren frowned, then glared at Lory asking: what are you scheming this time?!
Offended, Lory: how rude! Why is that the first thing you go to? … when have I ever put you in a difficult situation?!
Peeved, Ren asked: really?! … do you really want to go there?!
Lory grumbled: hey! … I was trying to help you then, and you know it! … I only did it out of concern for your sake! … you're making me into someone cruel, sinister, and mean, and I don't appreciate that!
Ren: then why are you suddenly talking about music all of a sudden, … when have I ever expressed interest in music … I'm not Him
Confused, Lory: Him? …
Ren: do I really need to spell it for you?!
Still, confused, Lory: that Fuwa kid?!
Ren: Not him! … never mind …
Lory looked aside and thought deeply before understanding who Ren was talking about, then commented: I didn't know you've been watching him!
Ren roared: I'm Not!
Lory put down his Cigar and then said: alright, calm down and I will get to my point … let's leave that aside!
Ren took a deep breath and said: please!
Lory: I must say, I knew you were a man of many talents, so I'm not surprised you have a decent voice … however, I was shellshocked by that girl!
Ren: K … Mogami-san?
Lory raised an eyebrow but didn't question Ren … he then picked up his Cigar and said: To see you both on stage singing together was a shocking moment for me … but the fact you all kept her voice a secret
Muttered Ren: it wasn't really a secret,
He then realized what he meant, so he looked at Lory and asked: wait! … when?! … how?!
Lory: come on! … you used the Audition stage … you think that will remain a secret forever?!
Ren reasoned: people don't often use it!
Lory countered with a sassy tone: will I happen to take a good friend of mine on a tour around the building and we came across your little concert!
Doubtful, Ren: since when did you start giving tours?
Lory: that's not the point, Ren! … the point is that no one told me that Mogami-kun is even more talented than I imagined
Ren: you never asked … besides, I don't think she believes her voice is any good … that kid really did a number on her confidence!
Lory: I imagined! … she can totally compete with him on the same stage if she wished … yet when she came to sign up, she said she was more interested in listening to music rather than singing
Ren: well, … I'm sure that guy told her something terrible making her think she had a terrible voice!
Lory: yet you managed to get her to sing!
Ren casually answered: it was only fun and games
Lory: really?! … the famous gorgeous star is into fun and game? … and Karaoke?
Agitated, Ren: get to the point!
Lory: I have an offer! … and a very good one, however, I'm not sure you'd like it!
Indifferent, Ren: let me guess … it involves singing?!
Annoyed, Lory declared: I don't like your attitude!
Ren: Am I wrong?
Lory: not completely … I actually have two offers … and they both give you the chance to take the next big step
Ren slumped in his seat and said: I'm not sure I'm ready for that!
Lory scolded: Ren! … you only passed the chance on that offer back then, because of the poisoning incident … she's fine now, so you no longer have any excuse!
Still concerned, Ren disagreed: she's not safe!
Lory: are you doubting us!? … with your statement, you're saying, that I, Yashiro, her mother, her lawyer, … and the police can't protect her as you do!
Ren: I didn't mean that … I just can't rest and relax yet … not until they leave for good!
Lory: I get how you feel, but … you know those chances won't come again if you don't take advantage of them!
Ren: I'm happy here! … I'm content with my current status!
Concerned, Lory asked: are you giving up on your goal … you're finally at a point where you reached the highest honors here and you should be ready for new adventures … yet you're no longer interested?!
Ren reasoned: It's not like that … I just don't feel the pressure to leave for something bigger just yet … I can't leave like this …
Lory: If you're that concerned, why don't you just confess?!
Ren argued: that's not the point!
Lory: your just making excuses at this point! … if you don't take the good chances offered to you, you might never get them again!
Ren: give me time to think …
Lory: luckily for you … those chances won't have auditions until next year … although, I'm not sure you're going to like one of them
Ren: then why are you even considering it?!
Lory answered bluntly: because you'll kill me if I don't!
Ren argues logically: you're just contradicting yourself there! … if I won't like it, why would I consider killing you for not offering it to me?!
Lory asked slyly: are you interested in singing in a movie, Ren?
Ren: a musical?!
Lory: of some sort, yes! … you have been requested for it!
Ren: I don't get it? … why would they ask for me, if they had never seen me in one … is it because I learned how to play the Piano?
Lory: I told you I gave a tour for a close friend of mine … he just started a new project … and he's here for research and possibly scouting actors for his movie … he just happened to see you singing a song from a famous musical … so, who can blame him!?
Ren: oh …
Lory: would you consider it … or should I disappoint my friend?
Ren sighed heavily as he pondered on the idea … he wasn't the biggest fan of the idea, and wasn't sure he was suited for musicals … he only sang for Kyoko and Maria's sake
Impatient, Lory commented: well, I get it if you're not interested … I will just have to find another guy who can act and sing, and is willing to star with Mogami-kun
Ren stood right away and declared: count me in!
Lory smirked as he wiggled his eyebrows while looking at Ren, then said: as I expected! … your feelings are just overflowing at this point … watch it, Ren!
Annoyed, Ren warned: get off my case!
Lory: you won't want to miss a chance to act with her, even if it was to be in a musical movie?! … I'm impressed, really! … you're willing to do anything to be with her, aren't you getting desperate at this point!
Ren: I'm not! … I just … enjoy it … acting alongside her!
Lory was slightly surprised that Ren was being honest with him about his feelings for Kyoko, so he smiled softly and said: really? … did you fall in love with acting alongside her?
Ren looked at Lory and figured that he wasn't being teased, so he said: yes … it feels different when it's with her … she challenges me in many ways… and she brings out the real me every time!
Lory nodded and said: I'm happy for you, Ren! … I did notice that you let your guard down when you're with her … and that's a good thing!
Ren: not always
Lory: hey! … don't say that! … I know the real you is a good guy deep down and he wouldn't dare hurt her!
Ren: the real me can't keep calm around her … but I know that if I let him free, he might do something …
Lory: you know he won't! … you need to trust yourself more! … but your right! … you can't be with her just yet! … Ren! … you need to open up with her and tell her about yourself before going forward! … you can't be Ren with her, because if she's worth it, you'll be honest and tell her what she needs to know
Ren: I know …
Lory: I know you found something precious and are seeing the light finally! … and although I'm sure you won't tell me exactly what happened, I know that it's a good thing because you no longer believe that you don't deserve happiness
Ren: for the most part …
Lory: well, for you to get over the last bit, you need to go back there and face the final challenge, no?
Ren: I understand that
Lory: you're in the right direction, and I will continue to support you! … so don't hesitate on taking the next big step!
Ren: can you tell me more about that offer?
Lory smirked and asked: the musical one?!
Ren sighed and nodded
Lory: alright, but with one condition! … you must keep this a secret for Mogami-kun!
Ren: the offer?
Lory: Yes … because it's not guaranteed yet and I'm worried she might back out if she hears it's a musical!
Ren: Understood!
Lory explains the whole movie idea and main plot, then asked: so, are you still in?
Ren chuckled then said: I wouldn't miss this chance!
Lory: alright! … I will give him the green light to send offers to join the audition … but this will be a secret!
Ren: I understand!
Lory: I'm also thinking of allowing Maria to join in
Ren smiled and nodded, agreeing I'm sure she will be overjoyed with a chance to act alongside her favorite Onee-san
Lory: Am I hearing jealousy?!
Ren: No!
Lory: well, she won't want to miss it because you two might have a good chance to be in it! …
Ren: are you going to tell her?
Lory: I'm considering it … I need to talk to her father first!
Ren: she might be able to spend more time with him, that way
Lory frowned sadly as he complained: all my kids are leaving me!
Ren: you'll survive!
