Summary/disclaimer: Time for another Chapter of Virtual Virtues. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own KLK, Trigger and a few others do.

"Crap, it's a Perussi Colubrumnus!" Rex hissed as Gaete peaked out of cover.

The figure rose up. it looked like a mass of flesh and muscle crammed into an armored suit. The figure looked around with icy blue eyes which made Gaete think of a bird of prey.

"What the hell is that thing?" Gaete asked and looked around with a frown. He watched as the thing extended talon like blades from its fingers.

They crackled with burning otherworldly energy. The creature slowly advanced forward. Saliva dripped from its gaping maw which sizzled on the ground.

"Something very happy to dine on anything it can get it's maw on." Rex stated before the creature looked at him. "That thing will make lunch out of us. Just like they tried to do to my kind." Rex added which made Gaete sigh and look to the ground.

"You want me to run the hell away from that thing!?" Gaete questioned and looked at the hulking creature.

"Well, unless you know how to kill one?" Rex asked as the creature tossed one of Gaete's chairs in his direction. Gaete ended up rolling to the side, barely missing him. "Like I said? I'd run if I was you." Rex stated to the Human in question.

"Yeah, no." Gaete said as the hulking beast slowly marched inside. Gaete could already guess making a run for the exit would kill him. "Hmm…" Gaete hummed to himself while gazing around the room. He needed a weapon if he was going to fight back.

He spotted his kitchen across from the beast. Gaete felt better if he had a knife. He looked around for a way to get there.

Gaete stumbled across some rubble as the monster looked at Rex.

"Don't lick your lips at me, you overgrown salamander!" Rex hissed before a brick flew across the room. Rex watched as the brick beaned the Colubrumnus on its snout.

The creature backpedaled as Gaete rushed for the knives. Rex raised an eyebrow in curious.

'Kid has more guts then I thought to try and kill a Colubrumnus. This guy is different from the other humans I've known.' Rex thought to himself as Gaete ripped open the cabinet.

Rex was further impressed when Gaete produced a knife from the inside of the cabinet. Gaete used his free hand to pick up another brick.

"Heh, you got gusto, kid." Rex said as Gaete slid behind the overturned couch. "But your going to need more then bricks to kill one of those SOBs." Rex stated which made Gaete shrug.

Rex guessed part of Gaete knew how stupid it was to challenge an alien monster. But another part of Rex guessed Gaete decided it was a low possibility to escape.

Rex blinked before Gaete tossed the brick at one of the eyes the creature had. The Colubrumnus shrieked as the brick slammed into it's glass like eye. Liquid and glass rained on the floor as the creature screamed in agony.

"Damn, good shot." Rex said before the Colubrumnus turned to Gaete. Ooze dripped out of it's shattered cybernetic eye as it growled.

"Crap, it's ticked off." Rex said before the beast opened its gaping maw. Tendrils of pure energy extended towards Gaete.

"Kid!" Rex hissed before racing toward Gaete. He wasn't letting a human die for something that wasn't his issue.

Rex barreled into Gaete, knocking him to the side as the two vanished in a flash of energy. The Colubrumnus roared in confusion and anger at losing his prey.

Then the flash of energy expanded and exploded outward. Gaete and Rex collapsed into one being as the house collapsed inward. The supports could not withstand the strain of this attack.

"What… The hell?" The being asked as he stood up. His voice sounded…. Different, cybernetically enhanced and modified.

The being stood in armor that looked partly like a cross between knight like battle armor and something from the future. Neon orange lines of energy raced along the scaled body of the being as energy like wings extended.

The being opened its orange amber like eyes and clenched claw tipped gauntlets. It looked through a samurai like helmet with a dragon like collection of teeth.

"Did we… Merge?" The being asked as it flexed its claws. Rex managed to pull himself somewhat from the creation. His orange dragon like avatar expressed surprise.

"Holy crap." Rex muttered, shocked that this was possible. "You and I… Merged into one being?!" Rex asked before the rubble moved. The being turned to the rubble as the Colubrumnus emerged, roaring a challenge.

Rex and the armored Gaete shared a look.

"How about we focus on taking that thing down before we freak out?" Gaete asked, his voice still displaying some slight confusion at the change.

"Hmm." Rex said before blinking. He nodded at Gaete before vanishing back into the high-tech armor. "Let's kick the snot out of that freak!" Rex said as the duo faced the monster.
