After eating so many delicious barbecue meats for lunch and cutting watermelons with the managers, Yachi was able to cool down from the summer heat under the tree shades on her own as she enjoys a cup of cool tea.
She briefly looks over the area and watched everyone enjoying their break. Yachi slumps her shoulders down, shifting into a more relaxing pose on the ground. It has been a long week and Yachi finally felt the fatigue catching up on her.
As she was mindlessly watch over the people in front of her, a box of banana milk appeared in front of her. She looked upwards and saw Kenma holding out the box of banana milk with a calm expression.
"Otsukare."
Yachi accepted the box and smiled, "Otsukaresamadeshita. Thank you for the milk, Kenma-san."
"Hn." Kenma replied and make himself comfortable as he lowered down next to her and sips on his own milk box.
As soon as he sat down next to her, the silence ensues as they watch the view in front of them with an unwinding atmosphere. Though it was quite a view for them since there were several of their friends playing around and making a scene.
One of them in which she watched as Kiyoko ignored the group of Nishinoya, Tora and Tanaka trying to catch her attention by not being so subtle in looking at her from the distance. Every time a boy wanted to talk to the third-year-beauty, the boys instantly hisses like feral cats in the distance – instantly this made quite a funny scene.
Eventually Kiyoko had to lecture them for being noisy and instead of feeling depressed by her lectures, the three boys were extremely happy as if they were in bliss.
Yachi couldn't help but softly giggle at the spectacle. Never a dull moment with the volleyball club members, even if she was in Tokyo. Looks like everyone isn't so different from each other.
"How do you feel after going through this training camp?"
Kenma suddenly asked Yachi, who seemed to be finished with his own milk box.
Yachi tilted her head, reminiscing of the past few days she had spent her time with the members of the volleyball teams for various schools. One thing for certain, she answered. "It was super fun!"
Kenma shifted his eyes towards her face, the edges of his lips tugged into a small smile after seeing her expression. "Fun, huh?"
"It is my first time coming into something like this. At first I was scared that I couldn't do my job very well but since I had a lot of support from everyone, I ended up having fun in the end. What about you, Kenma-san? This must be one of the many times you go to training camps, right?"
"it certainly is. I've been in the club since freshman year and Nekoma had several intensive training camps like this one. Ha…it's always tiring though." He says before she gently let his back touch the ground.
Yachi watches with amusement before she decided to follow him by lowering her back to the ground. Once her back touches the ground, she felt the cool grass on her back slightly tickling her but the temperature was cool enough to make her relaxed.
Since they were both taking rest under the shade of a large tree, the wind passing by and the gentle ambience of summer around them made the entire atmosphere feel extremely comfortable.
Yachi kept her eyes set on the sky above her, the slow realization of the bright blue sky above her made her feel significantly smaller.
"We have such a nice weather today…." Yachi stated softly as she watches the clouds passing by them in the sky.
To her right, Kenma who was previously watching the clouds turned his eyes on her. From the side, he sees how her entire form relaxed to the ground as if she had become one with the nature. The grasses gently grazing her skin, her brown eyes reflected the bright blue sky above them, the gentle sounds of her breath –
Kenma stops his overwhelming thoughts of her as he shifts his eyes back to the sky. What a strange feeling, he slowly began to acknowledge the emotion he has to her becoming so real each time he thought more about it.
He isn't foolish to say that she's unattractive in his eyes. He would also by lying to himself if he denies that the overwhelming warm feelings he had for her is not real but –
Who else shares the same warmth, gentleness and kindness whenever he seeks company with? Sure, Kenma has close friends whom he cares deeply for but – this…this was certainly different.
'Was this it? Is this the level where the sub-character finds himself having feelings for the heroine like in his video games?' Kenma wondered in his mind.
Kenma stares back to Yachi again and find her eyes closed while she had a soft smile on her lips. She didn't seem to be asleep because she was smiling even with her eyes closed.
'Ah….she's pretty…' Kenma finds himself saying to himself when he watches Yachi from the side.
"This feels so nice….I feel like I could fall asleep at any moment." Yachi spoke again, her voice above a whisper.
"Yeah…it feels nice…" Kenma finds himself responding to her without a thought. With her laying on the grass by his side, the clouds lazily pass by them above them, the soft and comfortable atmosphere, he continued before he couldn't stop himself, "I wish it was like this forever."
His heart beats oddly fast as his entire chest felt the warmth filling inside of him like a warm hug. Despite the hot summer weather, the cool shade and the blowing breeze made it colder on his skin with goosebumps appearing on his skin yet his chest felt so whole.
Yachi gave a soft chuckle as her shoulders shakes, "Yeah…it'd be nice to rest like this forever."
Kenma wished this moment could stop for a while, wished that time goes slower. With whatever strange courage he suddenly has, his left hand suddenly felt it moved by itself, inching slowly to reach for her hand.
"Yachi-san." His voice suddenly called out to her.
Yachi then slowly opens her eyes and turned her head towards him, however she blinked her eyes for a few times more when she sees the expression of Kenma's face.
"Kenma-san?" She asked softly.
She was a little speechless with the way he stared back at her. His soft expression made her feel a little nervous. The silence between them suddenly felt louder than before as he stares at her completely with an intimate focus on her face that she couldn't help but feel her cheeks and neck getting warmer by the intense gaze.
Kenma then started to speak again, "I – "
"Yachi-saaaan!" A sudden voice calls her from the distance, making both Kenma and Yachi flinch at the sudden interruption.
Yachi sat up from the ground and saw Hinata, Lev and Inuoka coming to her with giddy expressions. "There you are, Yachi-san! Ah, Kenma was here too!" Hinata spoke energetically as he came closer towards them.
"Were you taking a nap here? Woah, it's kind of refreshing to sleep here under the tree." Inuoka inspected as he reached to them and looked at the area around them.
"Kenma-san were you sleeping here too?" Lev asked, suddenly sitting down next to Kenma giddily as the second year hisses on the ground.
"I would…if it weren't for your screeching."
"Wh – I wasn't screeching, Kenma-saaaan~" Lev pouted like a child and poked his senpai on the side. Kenma finds himself sighing loudly before sitting up.
"So, what's going on with you three here?" The second year setter asked with a monotone voice.
This time, Hinata answered. "We're going to go to the festival now! Since it's like a few minutes' walk from here, let's all go together! We can go to the stalls first before we watch the firework show!"
"Let's scoop some goldfish!" Lev added excitedly.
Inuoka added, "The food stalls from the festival is always delicious so I'm really looking forward to the food."
"Aren't you still full from the big barbecue lunch?" Yachi asked.
Inuoka laughed, "Haha no way! I'm already hungry!"
Yachi couldn't help but chuckle at his bright response. As expected Inuoka, he always have some extra room for more food.
"They have snack stalls that sells bunch of different sweets. We didn't have proper desert from the barbecue earlier, so let's get some sweets!" Inuoka added excitedly. His offered his hand towards Yachi, "Let's go now so it won't be super crowded when we explore the stalls."
Yachi chuckles, seeing how the three boys before her were vibrating with excitement.
"Okay, let's go!" Yachi accepted the hand offered by Inuoka. The taller boy pulled her from the ground and reached his hand to the setter besides her.
"You're coming too right, senpai?" Inuoka asked.
Kenma huffed lightly but he also accepted Inuoka's hand and stood up from the ground. "Might as well go since we're all here or else Kuroo will drag me to you later."
"Haha, that totally sounds like what captain would do!" Inuoka replied with his own laughter.
And so the group of friends made their way to head over to the nearby summer festival with the air full of joyful buzz and laughter.

Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well! (I hope you all don't forget me yet T_T).
First, I would like to apologize for the extremely long hiatus. There was so much going on in my life and I had to make priorities first so it was difficult to make some time for this fanfic. I don't know if these are reasonable excuses though but I had to find a new job since I resigned from my last one, get boosted up with vaccines, also got sick several times due to stress, volunteering, more classes and was in a constant state of turmoil. I realized that I wasn't doing mentally well so I had to take some time for myself and reorganize my entire life haha.

How? where did you all find me haha, I'm pleasantly surprised and anxious at the same time hahaha but overall I'm so happy and thankful for all the kudos, comments, critics and love you all had shown me. Even though this might be just a silly fic, this the fic I held close dearly to my heart. In this chapter, I wanted to input Kenma's emotions through his thoughts near Yachi - I hope I wrote it out alright hehe. I just love Kenma and his awkward but gentle personality towards Yachi. (He can be sweet in his own ways hehehe). It's a bit of a challenge writing out the next chapters so hopefully I can update when it's done.
I also have some news to share with you all. I plan to post an original story of mine in the future but I will post it only on AO3. As of now it's still a work in progress but I'm really excited to share it to you all once it's done. If you some of you are interested in fantasy genre, I think it's going to be right up in your alley haha. I also plan to post some of my other fanfics from other fandoms in this account as well and I'm working really slow on those but I feel like I'd be happy if I post that in this account for everyone interested to read. But I'm curious which other series/content/movies/games you all love to read fanfics of.
