"The Hunter's proof"
The supply plane was flown away. Yaz and Sammy got up. Yaz felt defeated and broken. The baby raptor still nuzzled her but she didn't mind it. "We will make it home, Yaz." Sammy said.
"If you say it enough times, it's gotta be true, right?" Yaz asked.
The two walked back to the group Mae ran back to them after Hunter informed her of what happened "The plane left without you?" she asked.
"I'm so sorry. I don't understand what's going on here, but you have my word that I'll get you off this island somehow." Mae Turner said.
"No. We're not leaving. Obviously, this isn't what we wanted. Like, at all. But we can't quit now. Mantah Corp doesn't care if they're hurting their dinosaurs. And Mae you can't protect them all on your own. We have to stay until we fix this, however long it takes." Darius said to everyone.
Yaz closed her eyes feeling Darius doesn't care anymore.
"No, Darius. Yaz, Sammy, Ben, Noah, Elisa, and I have suffered for too long and yet you act like we care about your selfish desire to redeem yourself for what happened with your dad. You've stretched yourself too far now these kids deserve a better leader. One who cares about their freedom." Hunter said to Darius.
"What?" Darius asked.
"All in favor of having Darius as leader?" Hunter asked.
Brooklyn, and Kenji raised their hands. Darius smiled.
"All in favor of having me as leader?" Hunter asked.
Noah and Elisa raised their hands. to Darius shock Yaz, Sammy, and Ben raised their hands "What?" Darius asked.
"I'm done with dinosaurs." Yaz said.
"So it's five against three." Hunter said.
"I'm the new leader!" Hunter cheered.
"What's the first thing to do?" Noah asked.
"Noah, you and Ben shall help Mae get Spiky back to his biome. Elisa keep an eye on the other three as they make sure the rexes food isn't tainted." Hunter said.
Yaz was walking to the door, still sad. Sammy grabbed her arm "Y'all, Yaz and I are both wrecked, so we're gonna go get some rest, if that's cool." Sammy said.
"Yeah, you both deserve it." Hunter said.
"After you're all done, we'll meet at Mae's and figure out a game plan to protect those dinos." Yaz said.
"The mission is still about getting you guys off the island first, then protecting the dinos." Hunter said.
"But for now just rest." Noah said.
Hunter waved goodbye to them.
"Thanks for that." Yaz thanked Sammy.
Hunter left the group because he felt the compound was abandoned and realized he has a chance for revenge against Kenji.
Noah and Ben were with Mae. Pierce was going nuts. "Pierce stop." Mae said.
Pierce kept roaring "Stop. Stop. Pierce, stop." Mae said.
She pressed on the tablet "Calm." she said.
One of Pierce's grunts was played on record.
Pierce seemed to calm down.
"Scared. Yes." Mae said.
"You don't have to be scared." she said.
"Cause we're gonna take you..." she pressed another record.
"Home." she said.
Pierce was thrilled "That's right, darling. Home." she said.
"She talked to a dinosaur." Noah said.
"Pfft. She did it with fancy science buttons. Bumpy and I found a way to talk through here." Ben said.
He placed his hand on his chest "The biggest button of all." Ben said.
Noah was looking at him, confused.
At Mae's cave. Yaz was on the bed trying to sleep. Sammy put a glass of water next to her.
Yaz couldn't sleep. "I think I might have forgotten how to fall asleep." Yaz said.
Sammy sat next to her "People always say to clear your mind, but I like to think of all the things that make me feel warm and gooey." Sammy said.
"What if I've forgotten that, too?" Yaz asked.
"Think about home. What you miss." Sammy said.
She turned on her side and "I'll start. I miss strong showers. That thing when you wake up before your alarm, and you realize you still get to sleep for an hour. Cable TV." Sammy said.
"I miss cheeseburgers. Hotdogs or corndogs." Yaz said.
She yawned, "Maybe I just miss mustard and ketchup." Yaz said.
Sammy yawned "I miss my sister yelling at the football games." she said.
"I miss watching my mom get ready for work. The dumb high-five she gives me when I get home from school. Miss her kebabs. Our movie nights. I miss..." Yaz fell asleep.
The baby raptor jumped onto the bed. He saw both of them were asleep. He took a few steps next to Yaz. He was happy that she was smiling. He went around in a circle and fell asleep.
Elisa was still watching the others. She had them removing the tainted food. Big Eatie grabbed a piece of meat and brought it to her daughter, who is still injured.
Hunter took the tower's signal. He first looked up the footage of Kenji's experiments on him and his mother. He found the footage "Get ready for my revenge Kon." Hunter said.
Noah and Ben were still with Mae and Pierce "So now you decide to just drop, "Oh, yeah, I can speak to dinosaurs, but whatevs."" Noah said.
She chuckled, "I guess hiding my personal side project from you all isn't necessary anymore." she said.
"I was waiting to develop the research more before I shared it with Mantah Corp. Not sure I'm doing that now." she said.
"Yeah. I'd follow that instinct." Ben said.
"Now I just feel like trying." Noah said.
"Go on, then, you've earned it." Mae said.
She handed Noah the tablet Noah tried using "friend" roars to Pierce. "I'm your friend." Noah said.
Pierce moved his hand right at Noah's chest and lifted him up before throwing him to the side.
"I'm fine." Noah said.
"It takes time to build a bond with a dinosaur." Mae said.
"Say that to Yaz." Noah said.
"Actually, Bumpy and I hit it off right away." Ben said.
"I don't know who Bumpy is!" Noah said.
In the cave Yaz, Sammy, and the baby raptor were still sleeping. He wasn't forming a circle anymore now he got onto Yaz's hand and soared. A loud thud was heard Sammy and the raptor heard it.
"Search everything." a voice said.
Sammy moved to Yaz "Yaz." Sammy whispered.
Yaz got up and all three saw the shadow of a BRAD. Yaz, Sammy, and the raptor hid underneath the bed to avoid being spotted by the BRAD. The BRAD started scanning underneath. Yaz, Sammy, and the raptor backed up to the wall.
A man came in "Anything in here?" the voice asked.
"New documents have not been located." the BRAD said.
"Toss the other rooms, then. Now!" he said.
Yaz saw something was not right about Sammy "Sammy? Hey? You okay?" she asked.
Sammy looked like she just heard an old familiar voice.
She got out from the bed and followed the BRAD. The man was tapping a pencil around the desk and found a small book. Sammy saw who the man was. She froze in horror.
"Sammy?" Yaz asked.
She put her hand on Sammy she turned around still in horror "What is it?" Yaz asked.
"I, I have to tell you something." Sammy said.
Noah and Ben got into another Pierce going crazy "Calm down, Pierce. Calm down. Safe." Mae said.
Elisa and the others came back "Little Eatie is still hurt. The med BRADs you called never went to help her." Elisa said.
"How could the orders be overridden?" Noah asked.
"I thought there was no communication on or off the island." Darius said.
"There isn't. Someone must be here giving counter orders." Mae said.
"Kash." she said.
"Who's Kash?" Kenji faked that he didn't know who Kash was.
"My boss." Mae said.
"Right, then. You get Pierce to his food. Kash will be in the jungle biome. I'll get cleaned up, then go get some answers." Mae said.
"Are you sure that's safe?" Ben asked.
"Kash is a harmless blowhard with a penchant for bad music and even worse tattoos. Plus, until I know what he's up to, it's best he doesn't know you're here." Mae said.
She left the area.
"Hey, Elisa, have you seen Hunter?" Noah asked.
"Why do we need an infected?" Darius asked.
"We do if he can help us defeat Mantah Corp." Noah said.
"He's insane!" Brooklyn said.
"So is Darius with his crazy idea thinking he's some dino savior." Noah said.
"I'm not crazy, we don't need Hunter!" Darius said.
"Or you don't want Hunter around because he does a better job at leading." Noah said.
Darius got angry.
In the tunnels Yaz and the baby raptor were running around "Sammy?" Yaz called out.
"Sammy!" Yaz called out again.
They entered the desert biome "Sammy. Slow down." Yaz called out.
Soon the group's argument caused Pierce to go nuts.
"Guys, where's Mae?" Sammy asked.
"She went to see her boss in the jungle biome." Noah said.
"Some guy named..." Darius was cut off.
"Kash." Sammy said.
"How do you know?" Elisa asked.
"I'm gonna confront him and get some answers." Sammy said.
"Why?" Elisa asked.
Yaz got in front of Sammy "Sammy, I know how mad you must be, but maybe we should wait and..." Yaz was cut off by Sammy.
"All we do is wait. I'm tired of it." Sammy said.
"Well, Mae said we should stay put." Noah said.
"No. You don't get it." Sammy said.
"Kash..." Sammy spoke but stopped herself.
Yaz put her hand on Sammy's shoulder "Kash is the one who blackmailed my family." Sammy said.
"He did what?" Noah asked.
"You may have a right but you won't get to the truth by confronting a person like that." Elisa said.
Sammy feels betrayed by everyone, even Yaz. "How do you all not get this?" Sammy asked.
"I thought you were my friends." Sammy teared up.
"Sammy, no. You can't." Darius said.
"You don't get to make the decisions about what I do." Sammy said.
"I do! I'm the reason we're all alive to begin with!" Darius said.
"You don't care about us. You only care about the dinosaurs!" Sammy said.
Mae confronted Kash. Hunter was sitting on top of the compound "Likely now Sammy is on her way here. The others follow and I show them what Kon did to me." Hunter said.
Sammy was in the bushes and she was ready to charge at Kash but Yaz shoved her to the ground.
Yaz put her hand over Sammy's mouth and shushed her. Sammy removed her best friend's hand "What are you doing?" she asked.
"Sammy, you're our family and we're gonna protect you." Yaz said.
"Good everyone is here." Hunter said.
He pressed a button. The biome's sky changed showing footage of Kenji experiments on Hunter.
It was the moment where Kenji strapped Hunter to the experiment table.
"What are you doing?" Hunter asked.
"Well my dad loves to see dinosaurs fight each other but another thing we need a bigger base so a city will do. Once we've unleashed the virus on the city and give everyone the cure they'll beg dad to take over." Kenji said.
"You're insane." Hunter said.
"No I'm not, we're just perfect." Kenji taunted.
He had machines shoving needles into the veins of the teenager which caused him to cry in pain.
"Goodbye kid, hope you live unlike your mom or don't I don't care." Kenji said.
Everyone looked in horror as the Hunter on screen screamed in pain as he was injected with the virus.
"So everyone let the games begin!" Hunter said.
Kenji pushed Darius and took Brooklyn hostage "Kill them!" Kenji ordered.
"With pleasure." Kash said.
He ordered all the BRADs to target all of them. Darius went after Kenji.
Everyone ran. Hunter rejoins them and starts tearing some BRADs up. Sammy gets Mae Turner. Yaz, Ben, Noah, and Elisa distracted the BRADs. Mae and Sammy got to the door to exit the jungle biome however a BRAD stopped them.
"We need to get to the airlock." Sammy said.
"Noted." Mae said.
She grabbed a stick and charged at the BRAD but bad news. Another raptor appeared. The raptor attacked Mae and threw her after leaving a bad mark on her.
A second raptor appeared Yaz, Sammy, Ben, Noah, and Elisa were surrounded by the raptors.
Seeing they were done for the baby raptor jumped onto the raptor that attacked Mae causing it to move away from them. The adult raptor soon grabbed his tail and threw the baby aside and chased it, hoping to eat it.
Yaz looked in horror at this event.
Hunter jumped on top of the raptor and roared at it, scaring it.
"Follow me!" Hunter said.
Hunter brought them to his hidden cave and everyone was defeated. "I'm sorry. If you all hadn't stopped me, I'd probably be dead right now. Heck, you might be, too." Sammy apologized to the group.
Yaz was too upset about something "Yaz?" Sammy asked.
"Huh?" Yaz asked.
"What is it?" Sammy asked.
"The baby raptor." Yaz said.
"It seems you both suffered today." Elisa said.
"We all did." Noah said.
"We will stop Kenji and his father from hurting these dinosaurs and destroy the virus." Hunter said to the group.
