I love Janto: yep. The important thing is that he can work celebrating things around their hectic Torchwood schedule.
Arrienstar: thanks for the fave.
Continuing from chapter 217.
"Won't there be problems with you being with me?" Ianto said. "I mean the whole royalty thing, don't you have to have a heir?"
"I have a heir," Jack said. "She just prefers to live among the humans." It made him sad to think about Alice for too long. He hadn't mated her mother but they had been married the human way and happy for a while. Then she had fallen pregnant. The pregnancy hadn't been easy and Alice hadn't looked fully human once born. Her mother left them and then Alice's human husband left her. Their heartaches hadn't brought them together though. She had always resented him.
"Is Alice really going to want to rule your kingdom?" Ianto asked. Sensible Ianto, always asking the right questions.
"We have ways around it," Jack answered. "Gender bending." Ianto had almost forgotten that using magic to turn one of them into a woman was an option. "Or using a surrogate." He knew he hadn't answered Ianto's question. Really the answer had to be no but part of him held onto the hope that Alice would get used to the idea.
"You never answered my question," Ianto pointed out.
"I know. We can worry about it later. We have centuries now." Ianto didn't look completely reassured but decided to drop it for now.
