Brittany's Point of View
When he hung up the phone, Kai looked sad. "Hey, you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine." Kai ran his fingers through his hair and gave an unconvincing smile.
"You don't look fine," I commented.
"She was a lot more interested in you than she was in me. I'm a little envious of you," Kai admitted.
"Hey, don't think too hard about it. Things will be different when she meets you in person," I tried.
"If you don't overshadow me," Kai grumbled.
'Let me talk to the boy.'
'What? Why?'
'Because this is a delicate situation. You don't realize how greatly this will impact the both of you.'
'Well, okay. If that's what you want to do.'
"Kai, Shadow wants to talk to you," I said.
"Your force? Okay. So do I just-" Kai started. I didn't get a chance to hear the rest of what he said because my surroundings turned black.
I opened my eyes and saw Shadow. "Is Kai okay?" I wondered.
"He's fine. We need to talk, Brittany. I will explain to you the same thing that I'm explaining to him. Right now, Molly is very close to you. That bond will never go away. However, as Molly becomes closer to Kai, her bond will shift, to be less with you and more with Kai. I want you to be ready for that. Kai won't replace you entirely, but she will start wanting to spend more time around him instead of you eventually. For right now, you should enjoy this time where she wants to be with you rather than Kai, but also know that it won't last. Molly is young. She will grow to think of you as more of a cousin than a sister. I wanted you to be aware of that, and I also wanted Kai to be aware that he doesn't have to worry about Molly interacting with him now because it will come in time. If either of you becomes jealous of the other, that is dangerous for Molly. The best advice I can give you is to not try to make Molly choose between you and him," Shadow explained.
"I don't understand. Molly will always be my little sister. She would never throw that away just because Kai is in the picture. Would she?" I said.
"I suppose you'll just have to wait and see. I've done my part to inform you. Whether you believe me or not, I am telling you what is to be," Shadow sighed.
"You don't know what you're talking about," I huffed before I went to sleep.
