Molly's Point of View

I didn't know why we left, but I could tell it wasn't good based on Mommy's expression. When we got inside the gummi ship, Mommy began to let out the words that she seemed to be holding back until we were somewhere private. "Do you know what he told me?! He said Brittany doesn't concern me because she isn't even my daughter! Can you believe that?!"

"Riku said that? Hey, I'll talk to him, okay? I'm sure he didn't mean it like it came out," Daddy assured her.

"You weren't there, Sora. He definitely was against me having any part of Brittany. Sora, I raised her. I watched her grow. I know she came from Riku and Yuffie, but she was under my care for years. I should have as much say as they do," Mommy shuddered.

"Kairi, at the end of the day, Brittany is still their daughter. We always knew that. Maybe a part of what he said is right, and we need to step down from the position of Brittany's parents," Daddy suggested.

"Does that mean she can't be my sister anymore?" I asked.

"You see? Look at what this is doing to our family," Mommy huffed.

Daddy turned to me. "Of course not. Brittany will always be like a sister to you," He promised.

"That's not the same thing," I pointed out.

"Hey, you have Kai now. That counts for something, doesn't it?" Daddy reminded.

"But he's not my brother. He's some boy who I don't even know. Brittany is my sister," I grumbled.

"Sure she is, Molly. We're just going through some changes. They're difficult ones, but everything will work out in the end. You'll see," Daddy said.

"Sora, I'm worried about my children. All four of them. Can you genuinely say that you aren't worried?" Mommy questioned.

Daddy turned back to Mommy. "Of course I'm worried. I know that I sound insensitive, but I do worry about them. I'm just trying to do whatever I think is best for them, though even I have my doubts that this is what's best. Still, we can't just hold on to Brittany and Alison forever. With Brittany, we always agreed it would be temporary. After what I did to Alison, I'm trying to give her some space. I know that she forgave me for what I did, but she's still healing. Molly's world is flipped upside down because of all this. Don't forget, Kai needs you too. He's gone so long without a mother. I know that he has been at school, but I still see him from time to time and spend my summers with him. I don't know what you want me to do. Everywhere I look, my hands are tied. All I can do right now is look after Molly and Kai, let Brittany be Riku and Yuffie's daughter, and be there for Alison when she needs me," Daddy explained.

Mommy looked at him with surprise on her face before sadness took over. "You're right. I'm sorry. I became really worked up. Riku decided that Brittany wasn't permitted to be around the children of the villains anymore at school, and he went so far as to have Kai enforce those rules," She sighed.

"Riku did that? And he had the nerve to lecture you about staying out of Brittany's issues? Okay, that's way out of line. Let's drop Molly off at my parent, and then we'll go to Radiant Gardens," Daddy decided.

"Are you sure?" Mommy checked.

"Yeah. Don't get me wrong, we need to be rational. This isn't an attack on Riku and Yuffie. Riku's our best friend. We just need to clarify some things with them. I want to avoid things getting ugly, but we're not bringing Molly with us in case they do," Daddy added.

"I wanna come," I tried. I didn't want to be at Grandma and Grandpa's house without Mommy and Daddy. I liked having grandparents, but I didn't feel that comfortable around them yet.

"I'm sorry, Butterfly. You can't come with us this time," Daddy apologized.

'It will be alright, Molly. I'll be there with you. Your grandparents love you very much and will take good care of you while your parents are away.'

"Okay," I sighed.

Daddy smiled. "That's my girl."
