(Luna)
Luna couldn't figure out where she was. However, she did pick up Blue's scent trail a few miles ago.
After another few miles, she had caught the stench of Quent, meaning that he was with her. The alcoholic smell started to fade away from him.
The whole time, her pack was on her mind. She wondered how they reacted to seeing that she was gone. Both Tsume and Sky would be panicking. She could only hope that Cheza had told them about where she was.
The mother in her was telling her to go back for them. But the other half was telling her to keep looking for Blue, no matter how long it took.
She put her nose to the ground and sniffed closely. Her ears perk up and she raised her wolf head, finding the scent again.
She galloped forward, both ears dropped back. She finally found Blue. She couldn't stop running.
After a while, she could see two figures. When she saw who they were, her eyes widened. It was Quent and Blue! She followed the scent and saw the two just ahead of her.
"Blue!" she called, running towards her as a human. They both heard the black she-wolf's call and they see her coming towards her. Blue turned around and saw her
"Luna?" she said in shock. However, Quent held up his gun at the wolf, getting her to stop. Blue stood in between the two of them.
"Please don't shoot her, Pops," she begged. Quent glared at Luna before turning away with a grunt. Blue turned to face Luna. "Luna, why are you here? Where are the others?" she asked Luna.
"I left to find you, Blue. Hige's been miserable since you left," Luna said. Blue's eyes widened she said this. She looked back over at Quent, feeling conflicted.
She was about to respond until they both heard the sound of a car speeding towards them. The two she-wolves looked over and they see one of the noble cars speeding towards them.
Blue stood in front of the car's path and did a t-pose. "Blue, what the hell are you doing!?" Luna shouted.
Blue didn't hear her however. "Please stop! We need your help!" she shouted. But the person driving the car didn't listen.
Luna watched as Quent rushed over and pushed Blue out of the way, taking the hit for her.
There was a crunching sound from the impact of the hit. Luna ran over to Blue, who was on the ground from Quent pushing her.
When the smoke cleared, Blue was horrified to see Quent on the ice mangled from getting run over.
Blue quickly gets up and runs over to him. She started to frantically shake him. "Pops, wake up! POPS!" she shouted, but he passed out.
Luna walked over to her and knelt down next to her. "Is he breathing?" she asked, hesitant to be around Quent.
"I don't know! I don't want him to die!" Blue cried. Luna stood up and took a look around. "Blue, see if you can carry him on your shoulders," she said.
Blue pulled herself together and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
(Kiba, Tsume, Hige, Toboe, Sky)
The others had seen that Luna was gone. It scared Sky to say the least. She clung to her father tightly.
Cheza had told them where Luna had gone to, but it still upset Sky and Tsume.
Tsume pleaded that Luna was alive. The pack makes it to the spot where Quent was run over, and Hige caught the scent right away. There was an old bloodstain on the ice.
"Hey! That's Blue's scent... And Luna's scent!" he said, pushing himself off of Kiba. He crawled over to the stain and sniffed it.
Toboe came to his side to support him.
The scent made him cringe and shivers ran down his spine. "Ugh... what a stink; this is human blood," the tan wolf groaned, wanting to cover his nose.
Toboe sniffed it too and recognied the scent easily. "This is the old man's blood," he said, eyes widening.
"I hope Mom has found them... Y-You said that Blue was a pet?" Sky asked, looking up a Tsume.
"Yeah, sweetheart. I'm not surprised that she went back to him," Tsume answered.
Hearing this angered Hige and he spun around to face the grey wolf. "That's not for you or Sky to decide!" he shouted.
"You leave my daughter out of this," Tsume growled, holding Sky closer to him.
(Luna, Blue, Quent)
Blue half carried and half dragged Quent across the ice with a blood trail behind them. Luna stayed close but also kept her distance from Quent.
They had no idea where they were going but she knew they couldn't stop. "Son of a bitch... all of this damn snow is making it hard to see," Quent muttered.
"Pops, the snow stopped a while ago," Blue answered. "Pops? When have you started to call me that? I don't understand. It's not like I'm your parent of anything," Quent groaned.
"I know you're not, but you've always been like a father to me. What else could I do? What else could I do? My whole life... all I ever wanted...was to stay with you," Blue replied.
Luna looked over her shoulder for a moment and stared before looking away. She felt conflicted now because Blue said this. She did come all the way out here to find Blue for Hige. But... she was thinking that might not be the right thing to do.
"It's not like... I believe what you told me... about Rouse... I'm not going to start trusting wolves because of you..." Quent whispered to Blue.
Blue narrowed her eyes from sorrow. "It might be hard... but you'll have to believe. I know that wolves would never do anything as cruel as that. For one thi-are you alright?" Blue asked worried, feeling Quent fall from her shoulders.
Luna heard this and she stopped walking. She turned around and saw Blue bite him. She went over to her. "Blue? What happened?" she asked.
"He passed out, but I managed to wake him up," Blue whispered, getting him on her shoulders. "C'mon, let's go," Luna said, making sure that Blue still had Quent on her.
They continued walking on until Luna heard the two collapse from behind her. Upon turning around, she saw Blue and Quent on the ground.
Luna ran over in her wolf form and saw that Blue was in her wolf form, laying unconscious. She then hears the sound of screeching tires from her right.
Looking upwards, she raised her head and ears towards the direction the sound came from. It was Hubb and Cher.
They saw the two wolves and old man there in the snow. Blue opened her eyes and looked over her shoulder to look at the human couple.
Hubb and Cher pulled Quent off of Blue and start to check him over for any serious injuries. "Mr. Yaiden! Mr. Yaiden, can you see me, sir? Wake up!" Cher pleaded.
Quent barely opened his eyes. "Well, his eyes are working," Hubb said with a sigh.
"Well, there aren't many fractures but he may have brain damage," Cher said. "He's not going to die, is he?" Blue asked worriedly.
Luna puts a hand on Blue's shoulder to assure her. "Blue, I'm sure he'll be fine. You just have to have patience," Luna said.
"I hope you're right," she said, wiping her eyes.
After a while, the group rested by the car that had run over Quent. They made a fire to keep them warm for the time being.
Luna laid at a distance from the group, her head resting between her forelegs. But she couldn't sleep. Her mate and pup were on her mind the entire time.
Blue laid by her master's side, not once leaving him. Luna's ears tilted back when she could hear Hubb and Cher talking. She couldn't hear what they were saying, but it didn't matter.
(The Pack)
"I saw it. The Paradise the Nobles tried to open," Kiba said, keeping his wolf head lowered a bit as they walked along beside some water.
"The Nobles' Paradise?" Toboe asked, dropping his ears. "Yeah, but it was fake," Kiba replied.
The small group was in the car, driving down the barren landscape.
Cher and Hubb were talking about their life, why they've never had children. They talked about why things didn't go the way they planned. But both hoped things would go right for them in the end.
Luna couldn't handle it anymore and she got to her knees. Blue had the same feeling as her. "Stop! Stop the car!" Blue shouted.
They both knew where the pack was and they needed to go back to them.
(Everyone)
The pack kept on going, but Hige slowed down, holding his injured leg up. Hige didn't see the use of going any further.
He collapsed to his side, grabbing the pack's attention. "Uncle Hige!" Sky whimpered and ran back over to him.
The others followed suit. "Hige, hang in there!" Toboe said, lowering his head and dropping his ears.
Tsume stood beside his daughter, who pressed her wolf head to his shoulder.
Tsume licked her on the head to comfort her.
Then, Sky looked over and saw two wolf shadows in the distance. "What is it, Sky?" Tsume asked, looking in her direction.
"It's mom!" Sky cried happily, turning and galloping towards her mother. Tsume saw it was his mate and he started to run along her.
Hige saw Blue running next to Luna. "Hige! Hige!" Blue cried, galloping as fast as she could towards him.
Blue jumped towards the tan wolf and collided into him.
"Tsume! Sky!" Luna cried, seeing her mate and pup running towards her in their wolf forms.
The little family collide with one another when Luna caught up with them.
Sky hugged her mother around the neck and sobbed in her neck. Tsume knelt down and hugged both of his girls.
Luna held her daughter close and kissed her cheek. "Mom... please don't leave us again..." Sky begged, weeping softly.
"I won't... never again," Luna whispered. "Don't scare us like that ever again," Tsume said, holding Luna close.
Luna looked up at her mate and saw how worried he had been.
"I'm so sorry..." she apologized sincerly. The three hugged tightly before the same truck had pulled up in front of the pack.
Tsume, Luna, and Sky stand back up when they saw the truck pull over. Tsume kept an arm around Luna and his other around Sky, who held onto Luna's hand.
Cher and Hubb get out of the parked truck and see Kiba holding Cheza in his arms.
"Cheza!" Cher gasped. Kiba had set Cheza in front of Cher so she could inspect the flower maiden.
Then, there was a loud explosion from behind them, grabbing their attention for a minute.
"It seems that things are falling apart faster we could've ever imagined," Cher said, brushing Cheza's hair out of her eyes.
"Is leaving this stupid planet the only way to stay alive? If only we could fly away, maybe find another world somewhere," Hubb asked, looking upwards at the sky.
It was Kiba's turn to speak up. "Why?" he asked. Hubb looked over his shoulder to look at the wolves.
"Huh?" he said. "Why do humans always look at the sky? Why do you try so hard to fly when you don't have any wings? We use what we've been given. We'll run, on our own legs for as long as it takes," Kiba said.
(A Few Hours Later)
Kiba, Tsume, Luna, Toboe, and Sky run in their wolf forms beside the truck while Hige and Blue resided inside with Quent, Cheza, Hubb and Cher.
From inside, Cher held Cheza in her lap, whose head was laying on her shoulder.
"Hubb?" Cher asked. "What?" Hubb replied. "Have you noticed that you stopped sneezing?" she said.
Hubb rubbed his nose and smiled. "You're right, I have. Hm... maybe being around wolves gave me a tolerance to it," he chuckled.
"I don't really think that's ho- who knows. Maybe you did. After everything we've been through, anything's possible," Cher replied with a sigh.
She reminded him of how Hubb had given up his job just to find her again.
Suddenly, there was a loud explosion coming from the distance, causing the entire ground to shake.
Hubb couldn't control the truck and it ended up falling on its side at the edge of a cliff.
The pack run over in a panic, but stop when they see Hige open the door.
Hige was the first to crawl out of it, falling on his back. Blue follows suit, helping Quent out.
Hubb comes out afterwards and Cher appeared after him. "Are you okay?" Hubb asked his wife.
"More or less. Hubb, take her," Cher replied, handing Cheza over to him.
Hubb takes her and starts to walk from the truck. Before Cher could get out, the ice gave out from the truck's weight.
The truck began to fall with Cher inside of it. Cher's eyes widened in horror as the truck started to fall.
Hubb also stopped and looked over his shoulder, seeing that the truck was no longer there...
There were loud crashes as the truck fell off the cliff.
The pack make it to the bottom of the cliff with Hubb and Quent. Hubb pulled Cher out of the truck and sat a few feet from the others.
"Cher! Cher!" Hubb cried, imploring her to wake up. He was starting to cry when she wouldn't.
Luna felt Tsume tighten his hold on her. Sky held onto her parents just as tightly, feeling tears rise in her big eyes.
Both Luna and Tsume understood just how agonizing it was to lose someone you love.
Cher's hand slowly makes its way up to his cheek, and she held it.
"I...I can hear you... Hubb. You've become... a wonderful... man," Cher feebly said.
Hubb grabbed her hand and kept it to his cheek. "Yeah... it's because I have you to look out for now. We'll start from scratch," Hubb tells her, getting her to nod weakly.
"And this time, we'll have a house full of kids, and we-we'll get a bird... a little white one. It'll be everything we ever wanted. It'll work this time..." Hubb said, trailing off when he saw Cher's eyes close.
"Cher? Cher!" he shouted, shaking her shoulders. However, Cher had died in his arms.
When he realized this, he started to sob hysterically. He pulled the dead woman into his arms, crying in her neck.
Cheza had tears running down her face when she sensed this.
After a few minutes, Hubb carried Cher's body over a body of deep water. He places her in it and she sank to the abyss.
Hubb walks over to the fallen car and started to push it, only to slip in the snow.
Hubb tries again to get the truck to move, but it was fruitless without help. Kiba walked over to the truck and started to push it.
Luna follows suit and began to use her strength to push the car. Sky wanted to help too along with the rest of the pack.
After a long struggle, they manage to push the truck back onto its wheels.
"Are you still going?" Hubb asked. "Yeah," Kiba replied.
"I'm coming with you guys. I don't know for how long, or how far I can go. But I'll make sure you guys get there, no matter what it takes," Hubb said, watching the snow fall from the sky.
