5 Years Later

"Kevin! Wait up!" He heard Nazz running behind him. He sighed heavily and stopped walking so she could catch up. For the last 5 years, she's been stuck to him like glue. Did he resent her? Not in the slightest. But did he wish he could have space to be able to think clearly? Yes. He felt her hand slip into his and she kissed his cheek. "Why did you leave without me? We were supposed to leave together." She was pouting, upset that she was left alone at a party their friends were throwing for them.

He looked down at her. "I'm sorry, Nazz. I thought you were behind me." He smiled. But it didn't quite reach his eyes, not like it would have when he was with him. He tapped that thought down hurriedly, worried that Nazz might be able to discern what he was thinking at that moment. She smiled back at him. "It's okay! Just pay attention next time. Okay?" She kissed his cheek again and he tried not to cringe away.

It hadn't always been like that. At first, after...well, after, he refuses to think about it, but at first he had genuinely loved Nazz and she was there for him when his heart had been broken. She had helped piece it back together and they had become inseparable after that. They did everything together. They were the best of friends. He really only loved her like a sister. Until she told him her feelings and because he didn't want to hurt her feelings, he reciprocated. Because he thought he had to. His mother and her father were both excited. They both hoped they would have grandkids. And while it wasn't for lack of trying, it had never happened. Much to Kevin's relief and Nazz's disappointment. The first few years he thought was happy; happy with her and how their life was going so far. But recently, he had seen another side of her that he wasn't sure he liked.

It started with his best friend Nat. They had met in college the previous year and he quickly became the rock he absolutely needed. He moved into the small flat he had gotten for himself. Nazz had been upset at first but told him it would only make things better for them in the future when they moved in together. After they were married. Kevin began to quietly panic and Nat noticed, said it was time they both leave so they can make it to their next class. Nazz looked sharply at Nat, "He doesn't have a class this early in the afternoon. I should know, I have his schedule printed out and taped to the fridge at home." Nat, for all his extraness, remained very calm and leveled his best mom look at her. "He just signed up for theater. It won't be on his schedule yet. We have a class to go to now, Nazz. If you would be so kind as to leave with us. Kevin, darling, we need to leave if we're going to make it to class." The boys grabbed their things and Kevin escorted Nazz out along with them.

"We're changing the locks tomorrow, Kevin." He could only agree, too stunned at what happened to say anything.

Nathaniel: I found him.

D. Delicious: Who?

Nathaniel: Your red haired hot rod.

D. Delicious: What?

Nathaniel: Absolutely. And I'm his roommate. His girlfriend is...something else. I think her name is Nazz. She doesn't seem like she likes that he has male friends.

D. Delicious: I hadn't realized they were together. Hhmm...

Nathaniel: D...whatever you're thinking of doing, please try not to hurt anyone. We don't need another incident like last time.

D. Delicious: I make no guarantees Nathaniel.

Nathaniel: -sigh- Alright, sweetie. What will you do in the mean time?

D. Delicious: Go to college of course.
