Here's another Sothis chapter.
Enjoy.
"Come on..."
He felt someone poke his cheek.
"...Get up already...You're gonna be late!"
Byleth stirred, opening his eyes and looking to his right, seeing Sothis sitting by his bedside, a pout on her face.
"Finally! This is what happens when you stay up all night!"
Sothis stood to her feet and walked over to his dresser, pulling out his usual garments and setting them on his bed as Byleth shifted out from under the covers, standing up and stretching. He turned to face his bed, where Sothis had finished laying out his clothes, the girl turning around and facing the Professor; raising an eyebrow at his quizzical look.
"Is something on my face?"
Byleth stared at her. "Did you...Get smaller?"
"Did I what!? Get smaller!? I most certainly did not! " She tapped her feet on the ground. "I've just decided to try walking today, lest my legs grow weak from floating all the time."
Byleth nodded, stripping off his sleeping wear and putting on his clothes, Sothis turning away with a blush as he did. "You forget that I reside in the same room as you..."
"But aren't we basically the same person?"
"Yes we are, but that doesn't make it any different!"
Byleth shrugged, strapping on his gauntlets and walking over to his desk to grab his books. As he did there was a knock at his door, when he opened it he was met with Dorothea.
"There you are! We thought you weren't gonna show up for class, Bernadetta was so worried that she..." Dorothea trailed off as she looked behind Byleth.
"Um...Professor...Who is that?"
Byleth looked behind him, and Sothis looked behind her, but the two didn't see anything. Byleth turned back to face Dorothea. "I don't see anyone, who are you talking about."
"I'm talking about the girl, who else could I be talking about?"
Byleth's eyes widened and he turned back to look at Sothis, then looked back to Dorothea.
"You can see her?" He asked, Dorothea nodding her head slowly.
"Obviously...Professor are you feeling okay?" Dorothea shook her head. "Actually never mind, more importantly who is she?"
Byleth could feeling Sothis's gaze boring a hole into the back of his head, he had to think of an excuse.
"She's...A new student."
"A new student?"
"Yes"
"And she's staying in your room?"
"She didn't have a dorm."
"So you gave her yours?"
"Yes"
"And where did you sleep?"
"Outside."
"..."
Dorothea remained silent, looking back behind Byleth at the girl; smiling.
"Well hi! My name's Dorothea, and you are?"
Sothis smiled, stepping forward. "My name is So-"
"Sola. Her name is Sola." Byleth interrupted. Dorothea and Sothis looked towards the Professor.
"Now, I think Sola can speak for herself Professor." The brunette said.
"She's shy." Byleth replied, Sothis raised an eyebrow at Byleth, but decided to play along, stepping behind the Professor, clutching his long sleeve timidly and peeking out from behind him. Dorothea knew better, but decided not to pry.
"Uh huh...Well...Should I tell the others class is canceled for the day?"
"That would probably be for the best..."
News of the academy's newest student quickly spread and everyone was eager to meet her, and to see which house she would join. After getting a uniform and being probably greeted by Rhea, the new student "Sola" joined the Black Eagles.
"Everyone, I would like to introduce you to your new classmate; Sola." Byleth announced to the Black Eagles class.
Sola/Sothis waved her hand, a little flustered from the whole situation.
"You can go sit by Petra." Byleth said, pointing over to the Brigid girl. Sothis sauntered over to the desk and sat next to Petra, Byleth begin his lesson as normal, having to make up for canceling classes yesterday.
Usually, Sothis would not bother paying attention whenever Byleth began teaching. She didn't have, what use would she have with the knowledge he taught after all? But now that she was visible, and was constrained to a mortal form; she had no choice.
What started as a feigned interest in the lessons Byleth taught, turned into genuine attention. While Sothis did not really care much for what Byleth was teaching, simply watching him teach, the way he had all his students captivated, even those who she deemed to be trouble makers proved to be ever attentive when it was time for lessons.
Had she really ignored Byleth this much? Surely she had recognized his good sides before right?
After the class was over she returned to Byleth's dorm. While she had her own dorm room given to her, she would always go to Byleth's room anyway. She was pacing back and forth, waiting for Byleth to return to his room so the two can talk. But there was no sign of him!
As she was waiting for his return, there was a sudden growl and she felt her stomach twist into a knot. She clutched her stomach, while it was a displeasing feeling it was somehow familiar, what was this feeling again...
Ah! Hunger! That's right! Oh it had been so long since she felt hungry, now she was ecstatic; she had always watched Byleth eat that delicious food at the Dining Hall now she had a chance to properly try it all herself!
She walked out of Byleth's room and wandered over to the Dining Hall, surprised to see it so full; so this is where everyone was. She set her sights on the counter where they handed out the food, but as she stepped closer to it she suddenly froze. Byleth was standing off to the side surrounded by female students, all eagerly asking him questions and chatting away with smiles on their faces.
And for some reason...That irked her...
She didn't know why, it's not like she owned Byleth or anything. But the two were technically a part of each other, so shouldn't he pay a little more attention to her? Especially when she was in such a vulnerable state now!
She sighed, seems she would have to make it known who Byleth really belongs to.
But how to go about doing that...
Byleth opened the door to his dorm and stepped in, sighing as he shut the door behind him.
"You're late."
Byleth turned to look at his bed, seeing Sothis sitting on it with her arms crossed, a pout on her petite face. He still wasn't used to seeing her in the Monastery's student uniform. Byleth pushed himself off the door and walked over to his desk, setting down his books and paperwork. He could feel Sothis glaring daggers at him.
"Do you have nothing to say for yourself?"
Byleth turned around to respond to the goddess. "What am I late for?"
Sothis thought for a moment. "Nothing I suppose...But I don't like to be kept waiting alone! Especially with this...Unknown phenomenon happening to me."
"Are you afraid something bad may happen to you?"
"I'm afraid something bad may happen to you! I do not know if you can still use my powers, or what you would do now that you are no longer under my supervision!"
Byleth smiled. "I'm not a child Sothis, besides what trouble could I possibly get into?"
Flirting with your female students that's what. But Sothis didn't dare say that, instead shaking her head. Dropping down from Byleth's bed and beginning to strip, Byleth quickly turned away.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"Changing into my sleeping attire."
"Do you plan on sleeping in my room?"
"But of course, why wouldn't I?"
Byleth didn't bother responding.
Sothis grit her teeth as she watched Byleth's female students surround him and making lovey-dovey eyes at him, she let out a sigh and stood up from her seat, approaching Byleth and pushing through the females. Byleth looked down at her.
"Soth-Sola did you need somethi-" He was cut off as she reached up and grabbed his shirt collar, pulling his face down to hers and slamming her lips against his, shocking everyone in the room.
When she pulled away she smirked. "There, now everyone knows you belong to me."
Sorry for the rather underwhelming and very late chapter. Life has been getting busier and busier for me, but I like to think I'm chugging at a slow but decent pace. Hope you all have been well!
I've also decided that updates will be once a month, hopefully that pace is fine with you all.
Until next time.
