Mono felt trapped. That had never happened before. Usually Mono was free to do as he pleased in his dreams. He must have felt so tired from his jump through the TV that he immediately fell asleep on way through. His surroundings didn't help with this claustrophobic situation. Mono was inside a dome-like building, the rusted metal frames were all that was remaining of what this place used to be. The crisscrossing pattern of the building frames made the place look like an enormous cage. On the floor, there were planks of wood and metal frames laying haphazardly. The smell of rotting wood and stale bread wafted in the air, making Mono gag. The place would have seemed abandoned if there wasn't a faint rustling coming from the floor. It was coming from all around Mono. He shuffled quietly to try to find an exit out of this decaying building. The rustling grew louder and clearer. The sound was horrible, like sandpaper being ground against one another. Soon the floor started to shake. Mono bolted. He didn't know where he was going but he knew he had to get out. Cracks started to appear on the floor. Something was moving underneath. Mono leaped onto a metal pole and clambered to get away from the floor. A fissure opened like a mouth, ready to eat. Then it stopped. Mono stood precariously on a metal frame and looked down into the fissure. The silence was oppressive.

Suddenly, the abyss exploded with an endless stream of blue like a high-pressure sprinkler. Mono took an involuntary step back. The metal frame he was standing on snapped and sent him plummeting into the crevasse. As Mono fell closer to the fissure, he managed a glance at the blue stuff erupting out of the crack.

They were feathers.
