Brittany's Point of View
Leon made me some eggs and toast for breakfast. After that, he wasn't quite sure what to do with me. "So, um, what do you do?" Leon asked.
I realized that I had no idea how to answer that. "I have no idea. I've been so busy lately that I haven't really had time to do anything. If I were back home, I would hang out with my siblings, do homework, do chores, play video games, or hang out with friends, but I don't have any of that right now. What do you do?"
"I usually go on patrol, but I've got Dilan and Aeleus covering for me so that I can stay with you. Merlin made it pretty clear that I can't let your parents find out you're with me to avoid putting you in the middle of their conflict," Leon replied.
"You could teach me about fighting. I have a keyblade, but I don't have much formal training," I suggested.
"I suppose I could do that. I think one of your parents might be able to teach you better, though," Leon commented. My smile fell. "Alright, no more sad faces. I'll do what I can."
Several hours later, I was covered in sweat. Leon was intense. I regretted suggesting he teach me some things. I had been asking for a break, and he refused. "Alright. That's enough for now." He finally said.
"How about for the rest of my life?" I panted. My body ached. I desummoned my keyblade and sat down before Leon plopped down next to me. "Hey, could you tell me more?"
"About what?" Leon asked.
"About my life before I left. I want to remember something, so I was thinking that if you told me about it, I might get some memories," I clarified.
"Huh. Well, I don't know about that, but I suppose I can tell you more. You were pretty young and probably wouldn't have any memories of it. You were afraid of me. Yuffie always told me that you wouldn't be so afraid if my face wasn't so scary. Cid has doted on you since the day you were born. You liked him a lot. He gave you candy a lot when you were three, despite Riku's and Yuffie's complaints. Aerith was your main babysitter. She was pretty skilled at taking care of you as a baby and keeping you busy as a toddler. Your parents loved you a lot. They were heartbroken when you had to live on Earth, though they still visited you occasionally until your memories were locked away. I don't know about Riku, but Yuffie was never the same after that. Did they show you the room?" Leon replied.
"What room?" I wondered.
"The room that they haven't changed for thirteen years. Your room," Leon answered.
"No. I wasn't home long. I really- I really could have had another life here. It would have been way different. I feel like I missed out on so much. I would never be able to get it all back," I sighed.
"I know how you feel. I felt the same way when Radiant Gardens was destroyed, and I had to live in Traverse Town. I would have given anything to get back what I lost back then. Now, not so much," Leon mentioned.
"What changed?" I questioned.
"A lot. If that hadn't happened, you wouldn't be here. Your mom wouldn't have met your dad, I wouldn't have met Sora, I wouldn't have known about other worlds or brought my friends together to start The Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee," Leon explained.
"Wow. That's true," I realized.
"Look, Brittany, you can't change the past, but you can decide where you want to be in the future. Only you can make that choice. Not your parents or your sisters," Leon added.
"You know, you're right. I think I needed to hear that. Thanks, Uncle Leon," I smiled.
I changed the cover image again. I made a new one for two reasons. One, my drawing has improved, and two, when I looked back, I realized that Alison's eyes are supposed to be indigo.
