Mono woke up with a start and banged his head on a wall. He then realized that he wasn't in the cage-like building anymore which calmed him down. He was now inside a ventilation shaft. The height was just tall enough for him to crawl through. Mono could hear muffled footsteps below him as if the area was highly populated with people.
Mono started to crawl slowly through the vent, trying to cause as little sound as possible. The shaft clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while due to the superfluous amount of dust covering the walls. As Mono continued his way, he found a vent opening that allowed him to clearly see the surrounding area. He was in some sort of office area. Characters were moving around like worker ants, carrying papers, talking amongst themselves. But something was wrong. It was as if the entire staff were holding their breath, apprehensive about something. Mono continued on. As he moved further in, the noise was getting quieter. The sound of operating printers and clicking keyboards was barely audible. Mono moved towards another vent opening and found himself looking into a dimly lit office. There was a long metal table cluttered with files, pens, and a computer. Strangely, the table had several large dents on the surface seeming to be a result of years of abuse. What was stranger were the two occupants at the desk. Mono couldn't see the occupant in the chair facing away from him except for the tip of a large purple top hat. The figure in the chair facing Mono was shrouded in darkness. Both of them were quiet for a second, then the occupant with the top hat spoke.
"You saw how the staff were acting today."
It was the voice of a little girl probably no older than twelve years old. There was a pause.
"If you want to give me this task, the others deserve to know."
"I know," said the man in the darkness, his baritone voice was smooth and had that feeling of power and confidence to it, "But with something as delicate as this, the backlash could be overwhelming. Word will get out that the justice department is investigating the website if this leaves the room. And right now, the numbers are not on our side."
"Twitter shouldn't even have that much power!" snapped the girl before realizing that she interrupted him, "I'm sorry sir."
"No no my dear, you are absolutely right," said the man reassuringly, "The place has become a twisted purveyor of justice. An insulting facsimile of this department."
The little girl was silent, probably processing all the complicated words the man was using.
"Even then, I can't say that my intentions are all that pure," the chuckled the man in the darkness, "I am still very angry about what they did to Freddy Fazbear."
The girl with the top hat perked up.
"What? What about him? I know he was attacked by a large mob of Twitter users a while ago. How is he now?"
The man in the darkness leaned forward and Mono was able to see him clearly. He was a hulking figure, his ripped body was barely contained inside the suit he wore. And that was where the human semblance ended. Where his head should have been was a large metal sledgehammer.
"The attack left him debilitated," snarled the sledgehammer man, "Scott's retirement has left his health slowly declining... The doctors say that there isn't much that they can do. The only thing we can hope is that Security Breach will be enough of an installment to jumpstart him again..."
There was silence.
"I am so sorry to hear that..." said the girl in a small voice, "I know he was here for a very long time..."
"We are getting off track," muttered the sledgehammer man, "To cancel is one thing, to dox is inexcusable. I should have seen the warning signs when that James Charles incident happened."
"So why me?" asked the girl, "I should be the last person to be trusted with something as important as this."
"You are a child," chuckled the sledgehammer man, "Or at least you look the part. Twitter users wouldn't go as far to hurt you."
The girl nodded. Or at least it looked like it by the movement of her hat.
"So where do you want me to start?"
"I just received an assault case where a group of Twitter users were spotted trying to chase somebody inside the Tumblr Sexymen Gallery," said the sledgehammer man as he held up a file and gave it to the girl, "You can start your investigation there."
The girl nodded and hopped off the chair. Mono could see that she was slightly taller than him, ignoring her large purple top hat. She was also carrying a blue umbrella. As she left the office, the sledgehammer man sighed. He looked around, adjusted the gold nametag that read, "COMMISSIONER BANHAMMER" and followed the girl out of the office.
As the man exited the door, the light switched off, leaving Mono alone with his thoughts.
