Brittany's Point of View

Merlin took me with him to Braig's house to pick up Alison and her friend, Lucy, before we disappeared in a cloud of smoke and reappeared at the dorms. "I'll meet you at the coronation," I said before going inside. Regardless of what my father wanted, I would still let Evie help me get ready. She knew much more about makeup than I did.

"Brit!" Evie exclaimed when I entered the room. She enveloped me in a big hug. She was wearing her hair up in a high ponytail with a few wavy strands framing her face, a beautiful blue floor-length dress, and a blue cape.

"Evie! I missed you so much," I smiled.

"Hey," Mal greeted.

"Hey," I replied, releasing Evie and turning to her. Mal had her hair up in a bun and wore a gorgeous floor-length purple dress with a high collar.

"So, I know you like purple, but since Mal is already wearing purple, I wanted to bring some variety into the mix. I think your dress turned out pretty good, though," Even mentioned. She shut the door to reveal a floor-length dress with black shoulder straps, a yellow bodice, and a blue layer of fabric over the white skirt. Evie grabbed a pair of white sandals with a small heel and set them with the dress. "Since Riku is your father, I designed it after his usual colors. I hope you don't mind. I hoped it would be special for you."

I was touched by Evie's gesture. "Evie, you have no idea how much this means to me," I mentioned. It was strange, thinking I would be wearing something with my dad's colors, but it felt special. I hoped he would think so, too. I didn't want to fight with him anymore. "I... I have something to say. You might not like me anymore, though."

"Great," Mal huffed.

"Go ahead, Brittany," Evie encouraged.

"I can't help you guys steal the wand. I can't even promise that I won't get involved. It was a hard decision for me to make. I don't want to be on opposite sides because you guys are my friends, but I can't just help with an evil scheme. Look, you guys, you're really special to me, and there is good in all of you. I've seen it. Just know that it's never too late to do the right thing. I haven't told anyone about your plans, and I probably won't. I just wanted you to know where I stand. If you don't want to give me the dress anymore, I understand," I sighed.

Mal glared at me, but it didn't last long. "I've got to get going. I need to meet up with Ben early." She moved the shoes out of the way and walked out the door but turned back to me just as she left the doorway. "For the record, I'm glad we met. You're nothing like most of those Auradon Prissy Princesses. I guess I'll see you at the coronation." She managed a small smile before she went down the hall.

I hung my head and started walking out the door.

"I'm proud of you."

'Thanks. If only that made me feel better.'

Evie grabbed my wrist. "Hold on. Where are you going?" She asked.

"Uh, to the coronation," I answered, snapping my head up in surprise.

"Not dressed like that, you're not. Come on. You are not about to waste a perfectly good dress I've worked so hard on," Evie smiled, handing me the dress.

Tears sprung in my eyes. I went behind the folding screen both to change and so she wouldn't see me cry. "Evie, I hate this," I said.

"I know. To be honest, I hate it, too. Ultimately, it's up to Mal. I'm only going to follow her lead. Believe me, I understand what it's like to feel the pressure of living up to your family's expectations," Evie mentioned. I finished putting on my dress and stepped out. "You look beautiful. Now, come over here, and I'll fix your hair."

"You don't have to do that," I refused.

"I want to," Evie assured me.

"Don't you hate me?" I pointed out.

"Never," Evie stated, giving me a hug. She took a handkerchief and wiped away my tears. "Let's get your hair done, and then we'll do your makeup. After that, you can't cry anymore, or else you'll ruin it."

"I make no promises, though I would appreciate it if you could go light on the makeup. I don't really wear much," I replied. I sat in a chair with my back to Evie and let her fix my hair however she wanted. I felt her putting it up. While she tried to be gentle, I still squeaked in pain a few times. When she had finished with my hair, she did my makeup. When I took a look in the mirror, I hardly recognized the girl staring back at me. My hair was in an updo with a small silver hair comb coming out of it. With the little bit of makeup she put on me, my face looked brighter somehow. I could hardly believe the way I looked. "Evie, this is incredible. Thank you so much." I hugged my friend.

"My pleasure. Let's get going," Evie prompted. We met Carlos, Jay, and P.J. outside. We went in a limo that took us to the coronation. I was worried about explaining where I stood to them, but Evie graciously did it for me. They took it better than I expected, but the rest of the ride was pretty quiet. When I arrived, I started heading toward Merlin, but I saw my parents and changed my mind. I was early, so I figured it would be alright to take a few minutes to greet them.

"Hi," I greeted.

Dad's expression was blank for a moment, but then it turned to recognition. "Brittany. Hi. You look so different. I almost didn't recognize you for a second. Wow, look at you. You look beautiful."

"Thank you," I replied.

"Are those the school colors?" Dad asked.

"Yours, actually. My friend, Evie, made it," I explained.

Kairi approached us with Kai in tow, and Mom and Dad visibly tensed. "Brit? Hey. I didn't think you would make it. I'm glad you did, though," Kairi smiled.

"Me too. Where's Sora?" I wondered.

"Back on the ship with Molly. Molly is having trouble adapting to her new life. Maybe you could talk to her later?" Kairi requested.

"I'd love to," I agreed. There was a moment of silence, and I could see a lot of tension between my parents and Kairi. "I'd better go. I came with Merlin. When this is all over, I really need to talk to all of you. Sora too. Do you think we can all get along so I can do that?"

"Of course, I can, but I can't speak for them," Kairi remarked.

"Mom, stop," Kai grumbled.

"What, you don't think we can be civil? We're not the ones who made a scene at Family Day," Mom shot back.

"Alright, enough," Dad snapped at Mom. He glared at Kairi, but his gaze softened when it turned to me. "We can do that, kid. Go enjoy yourself."

"Thanks," I said before taking my place by Merlin.

The ceremony started shortly after. Ben walked down the center aisle. Everyone bowed and curtseyed as Ben passed by, and I followed suit. When he got to the platform where King Beast, Queen Belle, and Fairy Godmother were, Fairy Godmother curtseyed to Queen Belle and King Beast and took the crown from King Beast's head. Ben kneeled on the steps as Fairy Godmother put the crown on his head. King Beast took the glass cover off the magic wand, and Fairy Godmother took the wand in her hand and held it out in front of her as she turned back to Ben. My eyes were trained on Mal, waiting to see what she would do. I could hear Fairy Godmother recite the formalities of crowning Ben king. "Do you solemnly swear to govern the peoples of Auradon with justice and mercy as long as you shall reign?"

"I do solemnly swear," Ben stated.

"Then it is my honor and my joy to bless our new king-" Fairy Godmother stopped suddenly, and there was a gasp from the whole room. I tore my eyes away from Mal to look at the platform and see that Jane had taken the wand rather than any of the villain kids.

"What in tarnation is that girl doing?" Merlin gasped.

There were magical sparks all around the wand, and Jane held it shakily. I quietly slipped away and made my way toward her in case my assistance was needed, though I wasn't sure if I would be of any use. "Child, what are you doing?" Fairy Godmother shrieked.

"If you won't make me beautiful, I'll do it myself!" Jane shouted. Ben placed himself in front of Mal to shield her. I tried running toward Jane to grab the wand from her. "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!"

"Take cover!" King Beast exclaimed.

I didn't get to Jane fast enough because Mal beat me to it. She managed to get the wand from Jane, but I didn't let my guard down. Jane ran away. Ben inserted himself between Mal and his parents. "Mal, give me the wand," He said.

"Stand back," Mal warned. I summoned my keyblade but didn't do anything just yet. Evie, Carlos, Jay, and P.J. came through the doors and ran to be by Mal's side.

"It's okay," Ben assured her.

"Ben, I said stand back!" Mal repeated.

Audrey stepped forward from the crowd. "I told you so!" She remarked. Mal pointed the wand toward her, and she shrieked and took several steps back.

"Let's go!" Carlos urged.

"Revenge time," Jay reminded.

"You really want to do this?" Ben asked.

"We have no choice, Ben! Our parents-" Mal started.

"Your parents made their choice. Now you make yours," Ben interrupted.

There was a moment of silence. "I think I want to be good," Mal said at last.

"You are good," Ben tried.

"How do you know that?" Mal insisted.

"Because... Because I'm listening to my heart," Ben replied.

"I want to listen to my heart, too," Mal decided. I smiled as I vanished my keyblade. Mal turned around to face our friends. "And my heart is telling me that we are not our parents." She turned to Jay. "I mean, stealing things doesn't make you happy. Tourney and victory pizza with the team makes you happy." Next was Carlos. "And you, scratching Duke's belly makes you happy. Who would've thought?" After that was Evie. "And Evie, you do not have to play dumb to get a guy. You are so smart." She also had a piece for P.J. "P.J., hanging out with Max makes you happy. You guys have practically become best friends." She finally turned to me. "Thank you. I really thought about what you said this morning. I don't want to be on opposite sides either. You're my friend and also my family." She turned back to the others. "And I don't want to take over the world with evil. It doesn't make me happy. I want to go to school. And be with Ben." She turned back to Ben. "Because Ben makes me really happy." She looked back at our friends. "Us being friends makes me really happy. Not destroying things. I choose good, you guys." Mal stuck her fist in the center of the group.

Jay's fist met Mal's. "I choose good, too," He added.

Evie stuck her fist in with Jay's and Mal's. "I choose good," She smiled.

"Me too," P.J. agreed, putting his fist in the center with the others.

"So, just to be clear, we don't have to be worried about how really mad our parents will be?" Carlos brought up. The group of friends chuckled. "Because they're gonna be really, really mad."

"Your parents can't reach you here," Ben pointed out.

"Okay, then. Good," Carlos stated, adding his fist to the group.

Evie turned to me and signaled for me to join them, so I did, along with Ben, whom Mal had urged over. I glanced back at the crowd and spotted my parents, who were smiling.

There was a loud noise, and we broke away and looked up to see a ball of green smoke travel into the room. It landed in front of us to reveal Maleficent. My father must have run to me as soon as he saw the ball of smoke because he had stood between Maleficent and me protectively. "I'm back!" She exclaimed.

Dad summoned his keyblade. "And you'll go back to the Isle if you know what's good for you!" Dad shouted, rushing at her with his keyblade. She shot a ball of darkness at him, and he flew into the wall.

"Go away, mother," Mal huffed.

Maleficent started laughing. "She's funny. Oh, I'm so... You're very funny. Here. Wand me. Chop-chop."

Instead of giving the Maleficent the wand, she threw it to Fairy Godmother. I smirked and summoned my keyblade. "Things are about to get ugly," I declared.

"Bibbidi-Bobbidi-" Fairy Godmother started.

"Boo," Maleficent finished. She cast a spell of some sort, but I wasn't sure what it was supposed to do.

Thank you, Goku 275, for favoriting and following.

I was so excited about Brittany's dress that I made a picture of it that will temporarily be the cover for this story until I post the next chapter. I'm looking forward to the following few chapters of this. I want to give each of the girls one last major arc before ending this story. Honestly, finishing up is long overdue. I was young when I started this, and I would say that it shows.

I look forward to moving on to other story ideas, which will hopefully be better written. Until then, I'll be working on wrapping this up, though I should still have several chapters to go before getting to the end.
