Brittany's Point of View
After explaining things to Merlin, I went to the ship with Mom, Dad, and Kairi. "Where's Molly?" Kairi wondered.
"She's in the other room. The embodiment of light it... well, you know," Sora sighed. He turned to me. "You said you wanted to talk to all of us?"
"Yeah. I've thought a lot about things, and I think I finally know what I want," I replied.
"Let's sit down," Sora suggested.
When we sat down, I ended up on a couch between my two mothers while my fathers sat on chairs across from us. I suddenly felt self-conscious, and I began repeatedly running my hands down a section of my hair. Kairi immediately picked up on it as a nervous habit. "Hey, it's okay. Whatever you need to say, you can say it," She encouraged.
"Well, I guess... I know I've been out of the way so that you can figure this out without me getting caught in the crossfires, but this is about me. Shouldn't I also be able to speak on my behalf?" I started.
"We're all listening, Brittany," Dad said.
I let out a sigh. "You're all my family. We're dysfunctional at best, but I still love all of you. That being said, Mom, Dad, I'm older now. I know you guys want to treat me like you know what's best for me, but sometimes, you need to let me make my own choices, and that includes my own mistakes. Dad, if you can't trust Sora and Kairi to have done a good enough job raising me, at least trust yourself. You had a bigger impact on my life than you realize. Growing up, I got to see you make mistakes and learn and grow from them. I know you fell into the wrong crowd when you first left Destiny Islands, but I also saw you work to make things right. It took a long time, and you sacrificed so much for it, but in the end, you succeeded. Knowing what I know now, that you're real, makes you a role model. After all, what matters isn't how far you fall. It's how you pick yourself up, isn't that right?"
"Alright, I get it. I was a little overbearing," Dad agreed.
"That being said, I've learned a lot of things recently about who I was before. During these past few days, I've been staying with Leon. I also met Uncle Cid, who took us to Mr. Scrooge's restaurant, so I got to meet Mr. Scrooge, too," I continued.
"You mean you've been with my family all this time?" Mom asked in a shaky voice.
"Yeah. Not like, literal family, right? I'm kind of at my limit as far as that goes," I checked.
Mom pulled me into a hug and started sobbing. "No. They're just the closest thing I've had to a family for the longest time. I'm so glad you were able to meet them. We had agreed to take things slow, and then we had you go to school, and I was afraid that you never would get the chance." Before I knew it, I had my arms wrapped around my mom, and I was crying, too. I felt Kairi's hand gently rubbing my back in a way that only a mother could. When I stopped crying, I pulled away and looked around. I saw that Dad was by Mom's side with his hand on her shoulder while Sora was kneeling beside Kairi, holding her hand that wasn't rubbing my back.
"Isn't there more you want to say?"
'Yeah. Thank you for reminding me.'
"Before my time with Leon, a lot of what I thought about was how much I've gained by learning that my favorite video game was real, but now, I realize that we also lost a lot. It makes a lot of sense now why I always liked Radiant Gardens so much in the games. It was my home. I wish I could go back in time and stay with you, but I know that it would be impossible. I can't change the past, but I can change the future. Mom, Dad, I don't want to go back to school. I don't want to go back to training in The Land of Departure. I want to go home and live with you," I requested.
That time, it was Dad who pulled me into an embrace. "Of course you can, Brittany," He replied instantly. I hugged him back. Mom, Sora, and Kairi joined us for a group hug.
"I love you guys," I smiled.
"We all love you, too," Sora added.
