Hat Kid was having a great day. Sitting in a cafe with a book of evidence in front of her was probably the best way to spend her afternoon. So far, she managed to identify each of the Twitter users that had attacked her. And the fact that they all happened to be in The Last Drop convinced her that someone was mobilizing them, giving them orders. Then whoever they were probably would have been inside the pub at the same time. But something that Hat Kid couldn't figure out was why the Twitter users attacked her. As far as she knew, she and Commissioner Banhammer were the only ones who knew of this special investigation. He was the one who explicitly told her that the mission was to be kept secret. They must have known she was part of the Justice Department. Jinx made that deduction from just how Hat Kid walked. Who was to say Twitter users could make the same assumption?
Hat Kid was getting off track. She shook her head and returned to looking through the logbook of patrons. She ran her finger down the list of Twitter users. They all first came to the pub on the same day, probably for an organized meeting. She already knew that. She sighed. There was probably nothing else she could get out of this logbook. Hat Kid found her eyes drawn to a username she had circled along with the Twitter users. It was another username that first appeared along with the Twitter users at the same time. "IUST". It was a strange name but she couldn't connect it to any social media account. It was an anomaly. Hat Kid stood up. She probably had to give this logbook back to Jinx.
When Hat Kid got back to The Last Drop, the authorities were already at the scene. Police tape did their best to cover the blown-up entrance. But the damage was too much, which attracted a bigger crowd than the one at Tumblr. Jinx was being interviewed by news websites although she looked like she would rather be anywhere else. Hat Kid waved at Jinx and held up the logbook. Jinx grinned, slapped the news reporter, and sauntered towards Hat Kid.
"I wondered when you'll be back," Jinx said cheerfully, in a completely different mood to what she was when Hat Kid left her.
"I'm sorry about all of this," apologized Hat Kid as she handed the logbook back, "They messed up your place because I came here."
Jinx paused for a moment.
"You're right," said Jinx, "But it wasn't your fault."
Hat Kid smiled and walked away and left Jinx to her pub. Suddenly, her phone buzzed. She looked at the message suspiciously. There was no name.
A person you may be interested in is going to Youtube Kids. Come as soon as you can.
Hat Kid stood there bemused. On one hand, this could be a trap but on the other, she disliked the prospect of going after the Twitter Users that assaulted her. They probably wouldn't be very cooperative. Hat Kid hailed a taxi and it drove her to Search Engine Station.
When she got off, she noticed something strange. There were a group of Discord Moderators standing around at the food court. She didn't like the way they were muttering amongst themselves and giving furtive glances at any woman who passed. Discord Mods were a new addition to the Justice Department and many of the staff including Hat Kid did not like them. They were always so overbearing and disrespectful towards others but Commissioner Banhammer insisted they were a perfect addition. But Discord Mods usually worked on their own, alternating in shifts. So why were they all gathered here?
Hat Kid shook her head and continued forward to the Google Search Engine which was busy as usual. She had arrived in time to see a chrome-colored train had already stopped at the platform. She stepped through the door frame and suddenly, she was at Youtube Kids. The place was as she remembered it. Multicolored play structures with Youtube Kids Users enjoying themselves inside of. Fun and playful music echoed on speakers, barely able to be heard over the cacophony of children. Hat Kid sat down on a plastic chair and waited. She waited for five minutes. The informant didn't seem to be here. Hat Kid looked around and spotted a small angel floating towards her.
"Hello Hat Kid," Susie greeted softly, "How can I help you."
"I have been told by someone that a person of interest has arrived at this place," said Hat Kid politely, showing Susie the text message. The angel frowned slightly.
"That isn't very concrete. Many children come here for sanctuary and to watch kid-friendly videos. I won't think that a child capable of crime would come here. Or else I would know."
"But that isn't true all the time," insisted Hat Kid, "Some people can hide behind their accounts to access places to hide from authorities."
Susie paused. They seemed to be thinking of what to say.
"So then why would this informant operate under an anonymous contact? It seems-"
"You are stalling for time," Hat Kid interrupted, "You know there is someone in this place who is connected to this Twitter problem."
Susie seemed affronted. Their eyes twitched.
"You have no idea what you are doing."
Hat took a step back. Some of the users stopped playing and were looking at the pair.
"But... what..."
"I know you work for the Justice Department," said Susie, their agitation was showing, "But I know foul play when I see it. That person did not want to pass you information. They wanted you to come here. So tell me, who sent you here? If you do not answer I will-"
Susie stopped abruptly. Hat Kid looked like she was on the verge of tears.
"It is true that someone who is connected to all of this is in here," said Susie slowly, "They could tell you a part of what is going on. But if this mysterious informant is already here, why hasn't he shown himself yet to you?"
Hat Kid froze.
"B-b-but who would want to manipulate me to come here?"
"I would."
Hat Kid spun around and gasped as she saw Commissioner Banhammer march into the daycare, flanked by multiple Discord Moderators.
